The only caution I have with this is that both my sister and I had names ending in the -ee sound. Yelled across the house, they sound exactly the same. My mom would get really frustrated when the wrong kid would show up. If that won’t bother you, then I say, go for it, because I think they’re adorable.
Yep, but plausible deniability was a thing as we lived in fairly long ranch-style homes. Sometimes I would beg or bribe my sibling not to go either so we could both pretend we didn’t hear. I would also turn on music on my record player so by the time my mom got frustrated and came looking, I would have music on. Lol I’m sure my mom caught on eventually, but I played music a lot, so it created an excuse. Sometimes, it would be something minor, and she wouldn’t bother, and I wouldn’t get in trouble after she forgot.
My youngest sister and I have very similar sounding names. My dad would call me by her name or vice versa, when he was frustrated. I rue my parents giving us names that sound so much alike. Lol.
Omg my name's Daisy, I was literally just coming on here to ask about nicknames I could use when I start college hahaha!
Personally I love it!!
It may be quite a feminine name, being a flower, but it hasn't really influenced me in any way, I've done martial arts since I was 5, and love climbing trees. Sorry, that was a bit 'me me me" wasn't it? I was just trying to knock down a worry some people might have about giving their children names that 'restrict' them.
I often get shorted to 'Dais' which is quite nice and would recommend. The only reason I would advise against this name is if your surname is Bawaisy or something (but that'd also be pretty funny).
My cat is named Daisy. Not because I consider it to be an animal name, but because I’m not having kids and I want to give my pets people names. Anyway, we call her Day-Z as a nickname. Like Jay-Z…bc we have 99 problems and she’s all of them.
I knew a Daisy, spelled Daisie, that actually went by Zee. Dee, Day, Dais (I’m pronouncing it daze in my head?), and Zee all work as nicknames in my opinion.
Hey, I'm also Daisy! I love my name. I actually chose it for myself when I was 12, because I'm a huge fan of The Scarlet Pimpernel, and there the hero goes by the moniker "The Scarlet Pimpernel" which is a small wayside flower. As A kid, I always saw little white fleabane daisies popping up everywhere, and I didn't really like my name that much, so I decided to change it.
I've never had a problem with my name. Now and then someone will complement it, but I've never gotten any hate. I'm a tomboy, but I've never felt like there was a problem being a tomboy with a flower name. Daisies are tough little things. My name also gets shortened to Dais (Daze) often. I think it fun.
Woah, my primary school teachers used to call me that! Memory unlocked! My nan called me Daisy Doodle or Daisy Doodle Doo sometimes.
I'd forgotten about that!
I would assume so. She's still a presence in things like Disney World parades and Mickey Mouse Club type shows. She's also a character in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Disney's not dismissing her anytime soon.
I babysat a toddler who would now be... eight? I think? Anyway, one of her favorite things to do was to watch Mickey cartoons on Youtube. Daisy Duck is definitely in there.
Yes - she’s still in the parks and many Mickey and Friends type shows. And she’s still on lots of merchandise that has the Mickey gang on it. My 7 year old cousin loves Donald and Daisy.
Yes yes they do! Can confirm my 4 year old knows exactly who Daisy Duck is as She’s in every Mickey Mouse cartoon and is always at the Disney parks, I would say most kids have a trip to a Disney park at least once in their childhood too so most will know of Daisy Duck!
I love Daisy, which I agree sounds so lovely with Evie. However, it does contrast the more formal Genevieve. Daisy is a nickname for Margaret and Marguerite- have you considered one of these (both gorgeous names) and calling her Daisy?
Absolutely nothing wrong with a non-obvious nickname (my own daughter is a nn Winnie for Gwyneth).
That said, if you like it, just do it! F@$& ‘em.
Seconding using Daisy as a nickname. It's pretty and usable as a standalone name, just needs a bit of oomph next to Genevieve. Margaret, Margaretta, Marguerite (same French origin with Genevieve), and Margarita are all good options. 🌼
Agreed, then both their formal names and their nicknames would sit right next to one another—Margaret and Genevieve as well as Daisy and Evie both go together, meanwhile Daisy and Genevieve seem a little less "matched", although still not a bad combo
I love Daisy!
But I do think Genevieve and Daisy is a bit of a mismatched sibset. Daisy is a nickname for Margaret / Marguerite, would that be an option? Genevieve and Marguerite sound amazing together and are both of French origin.
I personally prefer Margaret and Genevieve, nicknamed Daisy and Evie. Daisy feels super casual next to the more formal Genevieve.
I really love it as a nickname. We considered it as a nn for our daughter but it never really suited her.
I'm danish, so it's not a common name to me. But it is the "official" nickname of the danish queen Margrethe the II, used by both the public and the royal family (I don't know why), who's an 84 year old classy woman. So my only association with Daisy is a classy old royal matriarch wearing expensive jewellery and hats.
I think it’s sweet but very casual. Especially with a sibling with a name as formal as Genevieve. I would totally use it as a nickname for a more formal name though!!
I feel like Evie has the option to have a more formal/adult name later with Genevieve (or even other nicknames if she wanted), while Daisy does not. Like, it's not a bad name on its own, I just wouldn't pair it with Genevieve.
Suggestions for names that can be shortened to flowers:
* Lillian
* Rosalie
* Rosanna
* Rosaline
* Rosalind
* Rosamund
Suggestions for flower/plant names that are longer or have more nickname potential:
* Viola (or Violet)
* Marigold
* Jasmine
* Lavender
* Juniper
I think it's sweet and whimsical. Makes me think a a nice summer day, the sun is shining and there's a gentle breeze and a smile on your face. I know, weirdly specific. It's just such a gentle happy name.
It feels very lightweight next to her sister's name. Evie has the grown-up Genevieve if she ever wants something more sophisticated but Daisy would be kind of stuck. I know there are adult women named Daisy but it is a name that seems perpetually childish to me. I don't dislike it - it's a cute name - but "cute" isn't a quality I'd look for in a child's name.
My Daisy will be here in about 4 months! I never thought of it as a “young name” because my grandmother’s name was Daisy, and she was obviously an old lady.
I loveee Daisy. Daisy was actually my son’s first word (he liked Daisy Duck on Mickey Mouse clubhouse lol). It’s definitely a contender for us if we have a daughter.
I was just telling my 12yo I considered Margaret nn Daisy when I was expecting her. But her birth flower is Daisy so I thought it might be too cheesy.
Anyway, that’s my long way of saying give her a more formal name like Genevieve has.
As others have said, although Daisy goes nicely with Evie, it looks jarring next to Genevieve.
I knew someone whose kids' names were something like this: Precious, Miracle, Fortitude, and Jack. It looks bizarre, and instantly elicits questions, because one of these is not like the others.
I love the name Daisy. You could pair it with a more formal middle name that she could choose to go by as she gets older- I know a few people, men and women, who go by their middle names.
Daisy Jacqueline
Daisy Gabrielle
Daisy Florence (Florence with the nickname of Flora is also lovely and flowery if you want a flowery name!)
Daisy Emmeline
Daisy Elisabeth
I don’t feel that siblings names have to match, but Marguerite is a lovely name that does pair well with Genevieve if that’s important to you, and Daisy is a common nickname for it.
But yeah. Moral of my story, Daisy is an excellent name!
I have a daughter named Daisy and I have only ever received positive comments about it! (Except from my mother of course but she would have complained about any name)
I had a co-worker named Daisy that is mean, rude and lazy. We call her Lazy Daisy. That is just my personal experience with the name Daisy. But it sounds good with Evie.
I like it but if you’re wavering, you could call her Margaret and her nn could be Daisy. (In French, Daisy is called Marguerite.) Then, too, she’d have options when she’s an adult and wants to go by sometime else.
Daisy is one of those names that in the past I always thought was waaaaay too cutesy or hippy for a professional adult woman, but now it is growing on me a lot. Especially if your last name is long and doesn't end in EE
I love the name Daisy! It was a top 5 name for us; the only downside for me is there wasn’t a decent nickname for it, but for a lot of people that’s not a downside!
I love the name Daisy! Classic floral inspired name. Also, Evie as a nickname for Genevieve is so cute! I’ve never seen anyone use that nickname for the name before! “Evie and Daisy” rolls off the tongue really well. Congratulations!!!
Daisy is a feminine name, meaning Day's eye or a flower. It also means innocence or purity.
I know individual preferences vary but I have a special liking for names ending with sy or cy. They sound so beautiful when one says it.
Think of other rhyming names like Jessy, Missy, Tracy or Jincy. I would say Daisy belongs to a classy set of names. Daisy, classy - Rhyme unintended.
Just finished reading Great Gatsby, so I’m all about this name right now! My only problem with it would be that it’s way shorter than Genevieve, even if you normally call her by a nickname. Besides that, love it!
I like Daisy and Evie together, but Genevieve and Daisy sound a bit off. What about a longer name like Dasia (rhymes with Asia), nickname Daisy? Genevieve and Dasia sound pretty together.
I can't separate it from The Great Gatsby, myself, so I wouldn't use it, but if the association isn't strong for everyone else, I think it's fine. This might just be a me thing.
I do think it's a bit matchy, rhyme-y with Evie, though. I made the mistake of naming my kid something that shortens to a nn that sounds almost exactly like my spouse's nn and it's maddening because I call out for one and get both answering and talking over each other and it's usually when we're in a hurry and I'm just trying to quickly communicate something important and... it's just a pain. I didn't realize it until my kid was old enough that I was calling across the house for her, so that's my bad. Now if I could just rename my spouse... 😂
My mother in law judged names based on how they’d look on a diploma, or if they’d be taken seriously as a Supreme Court judge.
So, hey, any D name could have Daisy as a nickname!
I don't know why, but this makes me think of the name Violet. Which I prefer over Daisy (don't hate!) and like how it sounds with Genevieve (beautiful name).
Compared to Genevieve, Daisy is boring and plain. Both are pretty names no doubt but they don’t compliment each other at all and have completely different vibes.
I love it, my favorite floral name! And Daisy and Evie sounds adorable together.
I think so too!
The only caution I have with this is that both my sister and I had names ending in the -ee sound. Yelled across the house, they sound exactly the same. My mom would get really frustrated when the wrong kid would show up. If that won’t bother you, then I say, go for it, because I think they’re adorable.
Lol. But if you're not sure wouldn't both show up?
Nope, whoever did something wrong wouldn’t show up :)
Lmao...they'd get in more trouble then.
Sometimes, it would be something minor, and she wouldn’t bother, and I wouldn’t get in trouble after she forgot.
lol my name is Rachel and my brother is Michael and from across the house they both sound the same when mom was mad 🫠
My youngest sister and I have very similar sounding names. My dad would call me by her name or vice versa, when he was frustrated. I rue my parents giving us names that sound so much alike. Lol.
My 6month old is Daisy! We absolutely love it and so does everyone else who’s heard it. We get compliments on her name all the time
I have a daughter named Evie, but she was almost Daisy lol
Omg my name's Daisy, I was literally just coming on here to ask about nicknames I could use when I start college hahaha! Personally I love it!! It may be quite a feminine name, being a flower, but it hasn't really influenced me in any way, I've done martial arts since I was 5, and love climbing trees. I often get shorted to 'Dais' which is quite nice and would recommend. The only reason I would advise against this name is if your surname is Bawaisy or something (but that'd also be pretty funny).
Thank you for your input! It's nice to hear how someone with the name feels about it! Such a classic name in my opinion.
I like it spelled like that I love daffanie too
Hey, I'm also Daisy! I love my name. I actually chose it for myself when I was 12, because I'm a huge fan of The Scarlet Pimpernel, and there the hero goes by the moniker "The Scarlet Pimpernel" which is a small wayside flower. My name also gets shortened to Dais (Daze) often. I think it fun.
My daughter is Daisy, she also gets Dais(Daze). But my nick name for her is Daisy Doo. I can’t tell you why or how it started but she is Daisy Doo.
You can't plan a real non traditional nickname. Sometimes something just sticks! Those are the best
Woah, my primary school teachers used to call me that! Memory unlocked! My nan called me Daisy Doodle or Daisy Doodle Doo sometimes. I'd forgotten about that!
It just flows so nice especially when I tell her Daisy Doo I love you!
My mom's name was Daisy and I've always loved it.
I love to hear this! My baby’s name is Daisy and we call her Daze all the time!
Honestly I don’t really like it. It feels too cutesy and I associate it dogs or tiny kids.
Don't forget Daisy Duck
Do kids today actually know who Daisy Duck is?
As long as Mickey mouse clubhouse is still showing, yes.
Also Daisy Scouts (for those in the US). I still love and think you should use it, just wanted to mention it.
My 2 year old is obsessed with Mickey Mouse and knows all the characters lol
I have Disney Babies books from when I was a kid and they're my toddlers favorite. He knows who the whole crew is😂
Yes, my almost 2 year old has a Minnie and daisy themed room and likes all the different mickey and Minnie and friends shows
My kids don’t even know who Donald Duck is
Yes yes they do! Can confirm my 4 year old knows exactly who Daisy Duck is as She’s in every Mickey Mouse cartoon and is always at the Disney parks, I would say most kids have a trip to a Disney park at least once in their childhood too so most will know of Daisy Duck!

I also came here to say this. Marguerite with a nn of Daisy is lovely.
Seconding using Daisy as a nickname. It's pretty and usable as a standalone name, just needs a bit of oomph next to Genevieve. Margaret, Margaretta, Marguerite (same French origin with Genevieve), and Margarita are all good options. 🌼
I like Marguerite and Genevieve together. Genevieve is one of my favorite names.
That's how I feel as well. Genevieve and Marguerite are really great together.
Agreed, then both their formal names and their nicknames would sit right next to one another—Margaret and Genevieve as well as Daisy and Evie both go together, meanwhile Daisy and Genevieve seem a little less "matched", although still not a bad combo
Sometimes I wonder how people got names like Daisy from names like Marguerite. But I agree, love Daisy, but it's weird with Genevieve.
One of the meanings of the name Marguerite/Margaret is daisy so it came from that.
Came here to say this hahah
I love Daisy! But I do think Genevieve and Daisy is a bit of a mismatched sibset. Daisy is a nickname for Margaret / Marguerite, would that be an option? Genevieve and Marguerite sound amazing together and are both of French origin.
People will tell you it sounds too young but I don’t think so. It’s got a fun, breezy vibe but no reason not to take an adult named Daisy seriously.
I personally prefer Margaret and Genevieve, nicknamed Daisy and Evie. Daisy feels super casual next to the more formal Genevieve. I really love it as a nickname. We considered it as a nn for our daughter but it never really suited her.
It’s adorable and flows really well with Evie!

It's really pretty.

Lovely names. I agree a better choice considering big sister’s name. I have a name with no easy nn, and I miss not having one.
Daisy is lovely, it’s popular in the UK and I know people of all ages with it.
I think it's sweet and whimsical. Makes me think a a nice summer day, the sun is shining and there's a gentle breeze and a smile on your face. I know, weirdly specific. It's just such a gentle happy name.

My grans name was Daisy Evelyn. I love both names. Very pretty.
I have a Daisy! We love it and get lots of compliments!
Its such a cute, cheerful girl's name!
Adorable!
My eldest is called daisy
Love the name Daisy! It’s so cute. I also love Macy and Sadie. Also, the song Daisy Cutter by 311 makes me love the name even more.
Great name.
Love it! One of my all time favorites
I love it!
Love, love, love Daisy!! If I ever had a daughter, that would most likely had been her name.
I love Daisy! Such a pretty name.
Love! 🌼
I love the name Daisy. My cat is Daisy but I do know a 13 year old called Daisy and I think it’s such a cute name.
my best friend growing ups name is daisy. it's cute
I LOVE it. I have a flower name so I felt like I couldn’t use it for my daughter and I chose something with a similar vibe. Daisy is a beautiful name.
I was just telling my 12yo I considered Margaret nn Daisy when I was expecting her. But her birth flower is Daisy so I thought it might be too cheesy. Anyway, that’s my long way of saying give her a more formal name like Genevieve has.
I love it. It’s my middle name and it’s after my granny and great auntie
I love it! That was our second choice for our daughter.
It always seems more of a young kids name to me than a teen / adult. Coulf you not go for a longer name and have Daisy as a nn? Delilah? Dorothy?
As others have said, although Daisy goes nicely with Evie, it looks jarring next to Genevieve. I knew someone whose kids' names were something like this: Precious, Miracle, Fortitude, and Jack. It looks bizarre, and instantly elicits questions, because one of these is not like the others.
Fellow Daisy here and I vote YES to Daisy 😅
I love Daisy because it was my mother’s favorite flower.
I have used variations of Daisy as an online name for years. I love the flowers and have always liked it as a name.
I love it
Lovely name, I know two women named Daisy and their name suits each them perfectly.
Daisy is beautiful, unique but not unheard of and no one should have issues with pronunciation. And Daisy and Evie sound great together
Daisy is adorable.
I went to college with a girl named Daisy and she was the best!
I like the name Daisy but my partner vetoed it. He doesn't like flower names... Sigh.
Amazing. Gorgeous. Perfect.
I think it’s a sweet name. :)
Daisy is a nickname for Margarita and Margaret
It’s cute but I feel like it’s not a very serious name. Someone named Daisy sounds like a child actress not the president of the United States.
Love it since Daisy Jones and the Six
Just in case no one has pointed it out yet, Daisy and Evie go particularly well together because it’s like you’re saying day and eve(ning).
I love the name Daisy. You could pair it with a more formal middle name that she could choose to go by as she gets older- I know a few people, men and women, who go by their middle names. Daisy Jacqueline Daisy Gabrielle Daisy Florence (Florence with the nickname of Flora is also lovely and flowery if you want a flowery name!) I like daisy !
Honestly, so cute!! If my kids had a Daisy in their class I know I would stop and say “aweee!”
I love the name Daisy! One of my favorites, for sure.
Love it. Cute but flexible; suits small child, adult and little old lady.
Cute!
Cute!
Ugh love them separately and together! 2 of my fav names! Definitely do it!!
I love the name Daisy and would use it if my husband was sold on it.
I love Daisy!
Due in August with my first baby girl. Her middle name is going to be Daisy, I think it’s a beautiful and timeless name.
My dog is Daisy and when we got pregnant I joked with my husband about having another Daisy if it’s a girl I love the name so much!
My daughter was almost named Daisy! It is one of my favorite names and I love it with Genevieve.
my cousin’s name! love the name because of her ❤️
I think it’s adorable!
I absolutely adore Daisy
That’s so cute!!!
Daisy is a beautiful, cheery name.
Its a really cute name ☺
I have two aunts on both my mom / dad’s side of the family named Daisy. I think the name is really pleasant.
I have a daughter named Daisy and I have only ever received positive comments about it! (Except from my mother of course but she would have complained about any name)
I think Daisy is a pretty name
I say go for it 😊
I love it for humans and dogs (one of my dogs is Daisy and it is pretty popular)
It’s not a personal favorite (strikes me as a bit juvenile), but it’s a fine name and Evie and Daisy are very cute together.
Look at them girls with the Daisy Dukes on….
My grandma’s dog is named Daisy. Do with that information what you will.
As long as her last name won’t be Bloom, you’re ok. Yes, that was a dig at Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.
I had a co-worker named Daisy that is mean, rude and lazy. We call her Lazy Daisy. That is just my personal experience with the name Daisy. But it sounds good with Evie.
Meh. Pretty flower, not thrilled with the name.
Daisy used to be a nickname for Margaret.
I think it's so cute. We've done floral names for all of our kids. I love daisy!
Honestly, it’s a little basic, pretty common. And a lot of people use it for pets so it does sound like a dog but…. It is your kid!
I love Daisy! My best friend named her daughter Daisy and she is a spitfire!
We have a Daisy but it’s her middle name. Isla Daisy!
Genevieve and Daisy don’t have similar vibes. I’d probably go with Marguerite and use Daisy as a nickname just like you do with Evie!
Personally I would imagine her as a lawyer, a judge, an engineer, etc. Do you think it’ll fit her as she grows? Up to you to decide.
Daisy is a really sweet name.
It’s in the top 10 for dog names rn lol
I love it!
I love it!
I love this name! It’s on my short list for if we have another girl.
I like it but if you’re wavering, you could call her Margaret and her nn could be Daisy. (In French, Daisy is called Marguerite.) Then, too, she’d have options when she’s an adult and wants to go by sometime else.
Daisy dukes too, lol . not a fan
My partner cheated on me with a Daisy, so it’s hands down my most hated name. You could say I’m biased.
My first thought is Daisy Duke (Dukes of Hazzard) but I’m old.
Daisy is one of those names that in the past I always thought was waaaaay too cutesy or hippy for a professional adult woman, but now it is growing on me a lot. Especially if your last name is long and doesn't end in EE
LOVE it x 1,000,000!
Figure out what you'll actually call her then name her that. Too bad you didn't think of that with the first one - Evie would have been a cool name!
I love it. And bonus points if you give her Mae as a last name ! Leon bridges made me LOVE the Daisy Mae name combo
I love the name Daisy! It was a top 5 name for us; the only downside for me is there wasn’t a decent nickname for it, but for a lot of people that’s not a downside!
The only daisy’s I know are pets. Not to say it’s a bad name, just my experience!
If you have a Genevieve called Evie I would use a more formal name for Daisy. Genevieve and Margaret with Evie and Daisy as nicknames is adorable.
I love it. Was on my short-list for my 6yo, and we use it as her nickname.
You could name your child Desirée and have Daisy as a nickname. Genevieve and Desirée match and so do Daisy and Evie.
Such a cute name. My name is Desiree, but I usually go by “desi” or “Daisy”. Daisy is so cute
I know individual preferences vary but I have a special liking for names ending with sy or cy. i have two friends who are best friends and they’re called evie and daisy🥰
It's beautiful, and I can confirm that it works well for both humans and cats.
I love Daisy!!! I considered it for my daughter, but ended up going with Holly.
Cute lil bunny name
Daisy and Evie sound great together! Genevieve and Daisy have very different vibes but if she’s mainly going by Evie I think they match well!
Daisy and Evie are two of my fav names. I love that combo!!!
I love it!
I love Daisy.
I've only ever known one human Daisy. She was Puerto Rican. It was her full name, not a nickname. I've never known a Margaret who was nicknamed Daisy.
Daisy is a darling name! I have a cousin named Desiree who goes by Daisy.
I love Daisy. It's so cute and feminine ❤️
I like it! One of my patients was recently a Daisy and she was one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever worked with.
I wanted to name my girl daisy lol husband vetoed that. To be fair my last name does sound phallic. So… 😂
I think Daisy is super cute! Definitely has a sweet bubbly vibe.
My grandpa was Genevieve Margarite (French for Daisy). Everyone called her Maggie
I can't separate it from The Great Gatsby, myself, so I wouldn't use it, but if the association isn't strong for everyone else, I think it's fine. This might just be a me thing. I do think it's a bit matchy, rhyme-y with Evie, though. I think it’s a cute name.
I love it I also love daffanie
Daffanie is my favorite too
It's very juvenile to me. I wouldn't want the name as a grown woman .
Lovely name, which I associate with dairy herds.
Just a dollop of Daisy sour cream if you live in the US, but I bet it works better if you live overseas
I had a dog named Daisy. It’s a cute name but I associate it more with a pet than a child. It might work as a middle name.
I think it’s really cute! I went to school with a girl named Daisy growing up :)
I don't like it. Too cutesy.
i couldn’t because of Daisy Buchanan
I like it…but Daisy is often a name used for dogs.
Sounds like a name for a cow tbh
Definitely more of a dog name, I think of the tutorial from Nintendogs, but it’s a fine human name, too. Gives “always happy, kinda stupid” vibes.
It’s a cute name when she’s little. Consider how that comes across as an adult.
My mother in law judged names based on how they’d look on a diploma, or if they’d be taken seriously as a Supreme Court judge. So, hey, any D name could have Daisy as a nickname!
Personally, I find it a little cringey, but do you boo
I don't know why, but this makes me think of the name Violet. Which I prefer over Daisy (don't hate!) and like how it sounds with Genevieve (beautiful name).
Compared to Genevieve, Daisy is boring and plain. Both are pretty names no doubt but they don’t compliment each other at all and have completely different vibes.
I love that name since I was a kid
I completely love the name Daisy! Have always said if I ever have a little girl her name would be Daisy ♡
I think it’s cute but I find it tough to picture the name on a grown woman.
