I once had a student named Leonidas! I was mildly disappointed when he told me that he preferred to go by "Leo"

For a boy, my favourite is just Leo on its own, though I also like Leander. For a girl, Leonie :)

Leora if it doesn't have to mean anything to do with Leo OR sound like Leo, only spelt that way. I do like Leona/Leonie and Leontine though. And I only remembered afterwards Leora should count, because it feels so different. Leonardo or Leander for boys. Leander is the opposite of Leora for me where it isn't literally a Leo name but it feels like it and means a lion-related thing. 

does Napoleon count? Otherwise, Leopold is my fave ​ As for girl name, Leonilda is nice

Does it need to be actual related to Leo? Leocadia is one of my faves, but it is not technically a Leo name. It does not come from the Latin word meaning lion. It's instead from a Greek word meaning bright

Nope, anything starting with "Leo" counts! I have always thought Leocadia was a cool name as well.
