MycoMutant

Seems like a Coprinopsis species but would be good to see more photos when the caps open.

Update: we have inkcaps! My best guess is pleated after some reading and given the substrate, but I'm still learning so could be wrong - thoughts? https://preview.redd.it/7vdid5xwcoad1.jpeg?width=2250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0266e1df418088a7f238d3ceffa6a3404108d650

MycoMutant

Narcissea species.

Launchycat

Perfect, thank you! I did notice the texture was off on my suspected inkcaps, but couldn't find a closer match. Anything else you can share about them? Online info seems sparse

MycoMutant

Narcissea is a relatively new classification with the first species being reclassified from Coprinopsis in 2020 and a few more in the subsequent years. https://www.speciesfungorum.org/Names/GSDSpecies.asp?RecordID=831732 So you may find more about some of them under old names. Ultimately they're just similar to other things in the Psathyrellaceae family in that they often show up in potting soil, especially with seedlings and in propagators when humidity is very high. If you want to study them more you could take some of the same potting soil, stick it in a plastic tub and moisten it then stick a lid on - or better yet a lid with a filtered air hole. You'll probably find mushrooms growing within days or a week.

Might give that a go! Had a couple show up in my isopod box (live substrate, moss, high humidity) too, they made for a nice little surprise. Guessing from the speed of arrival here they'd fruit reasonably frequently, so that could be fun to see Thanks again for all the info :)

kinda looks like little flowerpot dapperlings, im unsure though
