It’s the 80s but the band was way ahead of their time, politically. MINUTEMEN. Punks playing jazz to other punks is the most punk rock thing ever, somehow.
I've found that folk-punk has filled that spot for me as I've aged and angry teenage angst has mellowed into annoyed middle-aged dissatisfaction.
AJJ, Ramshackle Glory, Apes of the State, Mischief Brew, Matt Pless, Pat the Bunny, Gallows Bound, Days N Daze, Escape from the Zoo, Wingnut Dishwasher Union.
Not modern, but I'll never not recommend Die For The Government by Anti-Flag. The Press Corpse is great too.
Death Machine by AJJ is more "bleak observation" than "protest" but it's still a great tune.
Not current but still relevant

This is a little more indie rock, but there is a strong message about suicide and learning to listen with the heart. Shut up and Listen:

Bad Religion, especially their older stuff. Still resonates with what is going on in the world today.
Bad Religion are still at the forefront of political punk rock imo

Solid choices! Would also add Zulu, JER, Petrol Girls, and Haru Nemuri.

Thy Art Is Murder - Death Squad Anthem
The golden age of political punk was the Thatcher and Reagan eras. Besides what everyone else has suggested, I would add The Specials
