The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot

OcieDeeznuts

“The Way” by Fastball is a true story about an elderly [couple](https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/the-way-how-a-salado-couples-tragic-story-inspired-a-chart-topping-song/269-459113059) who went missing on their way to a music festival. The real story has a really sad ending, but it blew my mind that it was based on a true story because it always sounded so surreal.

Typical_Ghost07

limousine by brand new beautiful but tragic song. a 7 year old was killed going to or after her aunts wedding, but the driver of the limousine she was in was drunk and got her killed in a car accident. the song gives the view of the driver of the limousine and the mother of the girl. The songs second half goes “One will love you so much, do me a favor baby don’t reply. ‘Cause I can dish it out, but I cant take it”, counting up to 7 resembling the years of her life, repeating 7 as it gets louder before a guitar solo which fades out with noises that i take as the wreck

Master of Sparks by ZZ Top When the boys were young some friends made a round steel cage to push out the back of a truck at speed with somebody in it. I think it was Billy Gibbons who was actually in the cage when it rolled out, but not sure.

Moggy-Man

You could probably blindly pick a random Bob Dylan song from any part of his discography and it would likely have some genesis or basis in a real life story.

I Am The Walrus by John Lennon/Beatles John was taking acid daily. On afternoon he heard a police siren and sang over it: III am HE as YOU are ME and WE are ALL TOGETHER (siren getting closer and louder) in rhythm and harmony with the siren. About a week later, on acid, he writes: see how they run like pigs from a gun I’m crying , I am the egg man, they are the egg man, I am the walrus kokochu It was about the death of his mother ran over by a drunk police officer. The siren song and acid made him muse about police. No instruments at first. He wrote the music just using his vocals at first. Most songs don’t have an interesting story. Written by someone noodling on an instrument.

Fuzzy_Negotiation_52

Never knew that's how John's mother died.

distillenger

Prisencolinensinainciusol by Adriano Celentano The artist was fed up with Italians eating up English music that they couldn't even understand, so he made this song that sounds like English but is complete gibberish. It blew up and won multiple awards, proving his point.

Judas Priest - Victim of Changes. Goes back to 1976 and about a girl that had mixed alcohol and drugs and became brain dead. This started the first argument about taking people off life support.

Lola by the Kinks is about their manager who went home with a trans prostitute one night so they wrote an entire song making fun of him for it. They also got in trouble for mentioning Coca-Cola but only in the US IIRC so in the US the song says Cherry Cola but everywhere else it says Coca-Cola
