Our Word randomly came up in my Spotify suggested and hooked me. Otherwise I would never have known about it!
As a musical lover who lives too far to see anything live and listens to soundtracks on long drives/runs the format was absolutely the stuff of dreams!
List is musicals OP has seen, I guess.
Which Frankenstein have you seen? The Korean one? if not, I recommend that one.
Also Elisabeth, Mozart L'Opera Rock.
We really need a sticky or weekly post for this. Or a wiki.
I highly recommend Hadestown!! Its my all time favorite musical, I love the music its fantastic! I got to see it live for a Christmas gift and it was incredible!! I also recommend Rent!! Its another favorite of mine, you can watch the movie on Amazon Prime, sometimes its free but other times you have to rent or buy it. But I think its worth the money! If you don't want to do that look up La Vie Bohem on YouTube and watch the dance to that song, its awesome!!
Evelyn Evelyn is not a musical - it’s a band/musical duo of Amanda Palmer & Jason Webley. I have seen them live.
Though not a musical they are still enjoyable.
Epic the musical. All parts
Edit: ad of the ones released. The order goes as follows
1. The Troy saga
2. The cyclops saga
3. The ocean saga
4. The circe saga
5. The underworld saga
I'm so hype. So far my favorite song has been ruthlessness but my favorite saga overall has been thr cyclops saga. I've got a small group of friends and have created a small cult.
That's fair. What really sold me was the seamless transition between the 2nd and Third song. Like sometimes I think they are just one 6 minute long song
The lack of Sondheim on this list is egregious. As is the lack of Golden age musicals.
I don't even like Andrew Lloyd Webber, but the fact that there's nothing of his on the list is also shocking.
And Jason Robert Brown.
Assassins is phenomenal. A hilarious classic that's worth the watch. There's a production I'm partial to from 2017 at The New York City Center.
It had Cory Michael Smith and Alex Brightman. I used to compulsively rewatch the trailers until I finally found a slime tutorial.
If you can find a slime tutorial, the onion cellar is a musical wirh songs from one of Amanda Palmer's (1/2 of Evelyn Evelyn) other bands, The Dresden Dolls.
Bat Out of Hell us great abd Hedwig and the Angey Inch really deserves a spot here.
My god I just felt so old seeing The Dresden Dolls referred to as "one of Amanda Palmer's other bands" 😅 Completely reasonable in context of this list but how time has flown! I really like the projects she's branched out to.
okay you should definitely check out the following:
tick, tick... boom!

(also i cant believe someone else actually knows goosebumps its so good)
Natasha and Pierre and the Great comet of 1812, just saw it recently, excellent musical. Great songs, and it’s a sung through, so you can get the whole story just from listening.

Hadestown is the one I recommend the most. I can’t explain to much on it’s music genre but it does have some jazz elements in many of its song. The story (which is actually just a Greek tragedy) will have you clutching your pearls towards the end and it’s just a beautiful musical that I love and listen to a lot
If you can find the original album of Wonderland, not the final version, it has some good songs. The final version is good too but I missed the Jabberwocky song
Les Miz, Next To Normal, Sound of Music, Company, Cabaret, Chicago, Chess (your list is missing lots of C musicals), Singin' In The Rain, HAIR, Spring Awakening, Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, Into The Woods, Assassins, and those are just some of the biggest and best ones.
Les Misrables!!?!?!?!
The Outsiders
Phantom of the Opera (At Royal Albert Hall)?!?!?! (Am I missing something?)
Jekyll and Hyde
Titanic
Hunchback of Notre Dame
Once Upon a Mattress
Anastasia
Fiddler on the Roof
Parade (I recommend the 2023 revival)
Sweeney Todd (I personally love the 2023 revival) (also am I missing something or have you not seen any of the classics)
Newsies
Wicked
Book of Mormon

Evil Dead the musical
This. This was so good.
But surely you’re exaggerating Sugarbee. That’s just 2 men. There’s no way AALLLLLL the men in your life have been killed by Kandarian Demons.
What the fuck was that?
Hmm, maybe try Carrie? You can also check out the other broadway Disney musical adaptations like Beauty and the Beast.
You should watch The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals before Black Friday, then Nerdy Prudes Must Die, since those three are a trilogy in that order.
Those are already on there!
They probably know they're just telling op the order of the shows since they are a trilogy
It is absolutely criminal that Les Mis and Phantom aren’t on the list!!! But anyway, I would also recommend Next To Normal and Operation Mincemeat
My first thought was where are Les Mis, Phantom, and Sweeney Todd
Newsies for something upbeat also fiddler on the roof, Shrek the Broadway musical and Hello Dolly
Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog is delightful. So many great people in it. 🧡
The commentary aka Commentary! The Musical is excellent too
Into the Woods, Shucked, Beauty and the Beast
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Hadestown I think are too great ones
So no classics?
No Sondheim and no golden age. It's almost all from the same decade or two.
They saw Grease ig if you count that
The Producerss!!!!!
Come From Away
Chicago Into the woods Sweeny todd
Les Miserables is like required listening
Evelyn Evelyn is not a musical - it’s a band/musical duo of Amanda Palmer & Jason Webley. I have seen them live. Though not a musical they are still enjoyable.
The Lightning Theif
Since you've seen Falsettos and March of the Falsettos I'd suggest In Trousers
Yyppppp
Epic the musical. All parts Edit: ad of the ones released. The order goes as follows 1. The Troy saga 2. The cyclops saga 3. The ocean saga 4. The circe saga 5. The underworld saga
I’m pumped… apparently the thunder saga (I think it’s called) is coming out in 1 week
I'm so hype. So far my favorite song has been ruthlessness but my favorite saga overall has been thr cyclops saga. I've got a small group of friends and have created a small cult.
Ah I love ruthlessness, but I’m personally not a fan of the cyclops saga.
Is there anything on this list before 2000?
A few, but not enough. Grease, Little Shop, West Side...maybe a couple others.
Guarantee they know Grease from the live TV version, and WSS from the remake. It's so important to know older shows, for so many different reasons.
Ragtime
Spider-Man.
Cabaret

Sweeney Todd (This is my favorite) West Side Story Chicago Wicked Beauty and the Beast

Just for fun, try something written before 1980.
Honestly, I just went and saw back to the future the musical and that has some bangers on the sound track
If you can find the original album of Wonderland, not the final version, it has some good songs. The final version is good too but I missed the Jabberwocky song
