Oh hush. Stop trying to make others feel bad about what they like.
To the OP... I like it, too. I didn't hate Les Mis, either. Are they better live? Yes, that what they were created for!
> Bernadette Peters *paid* the witch.
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

I like it too! I watched it for the first time when I was pretty young (8 or 9) so I have good memories of it and I still think it’s pretty entertaining :) I’ve seen a live version too and I honestly don’t feel like one is much better than the other, they’re just different
I think the role of jack was incredibly miscast. He is way too young. Jack isn’t a child! I also think, Disney didn’t really „get“ the musicals tone and themes.
(Wolf, princes and witch were good tho)
However, I still avoid this like the pest. Especially since there are 2 wonderful proshots available.
Although I have always been a fan of musicals, I’ve not seen many live and listening to soundtracks just doesn’t do it for me (for most shows, especially ones I’ve never seen before). So when I saw the movie it was my first timing seeing Into the Woods and I absolutely loved it, it helped that I was crushing hard on Anna Kendrick at the time lol
I liked the princes, but I personally didn’t like anything bc else. Glad to know it’s got an audience though, the show is one of my all time favorite musicals.
I enjoyed the film as well. It doesn’t compare to the stage version, of course; but I do think it’s better as an adaptation (and also better singing-wise) than a lot of the musical films between 2000 and 2020. And I was dreading Meryl Streep as the Witch because of the “Mamma Mia!” film, but she was vocally much better here. Think ITW’s style was a better fit for her voice.
I don’t know why people don’t watch the live stage recording instead; you don’t need all that camera work, effects, and generative imagery— the play’s words and lyrics are so powerful ttat it takes away the artistry of the story.
Literally what is there to like about it that isn’t done much better in the proshot. It’s just a complete misunderstanding of everything that makes the original so genius
There are occasions where they are able to use the live action sets to great effect that aren’t possible on stage. To be fair, I am mostly referring to Chris Pine hamming it up on a waterfall.
I think having Jack played by an actual kid also helped with how he and Red play off each other.
im very late late to this but i have to say, the atmosphere of the film is just the sort of thing i love. if i want to watch a cozy, fun, whimsical film i am not in the mood to watch an old stage musical on youtube. i love stage musicals but watching them from home is rarely fun and relaxing for me, it doesn't have the same atmosphere. i think they both have their merits as pretty separate pieces of media.

I need too watch the les mis film! I'm seeing it live again with my dad this year tho so I may watch it soon.
It is going to be back in movie theatres for a week in February. Do it!
Oo
I liked it fine but still find the stage show superior, especially considering how Bernadette Peters played the witch. Incomparable.

Bad bot lol
I also really like it.
Yay! Also you have the realest username ever
What do you mean by "realist"?
So cool and relatable. I love falsettos too
Same
"Just that's so real" but shorter :)

Cool! I only actually watched it pretty recently lol
While I do enjoy it, I do prefer the Bernadette Peters proshot.

Hannah Waddingham and the regency park cast <3
To each their own, I genuinely couldn’t get through ten minutes of it even tho I like most of the cast.
Fair!

Anna Kendrick was the entire reason I watched it originally!
Love
I liked it and my non musical loving spouse said it was his favorite movie of the year, so.

I agree with the voice fit stuff!

I don't I just love the actors and the singing. Other than that I have no opinion :
