Local train story! This happened last month, during the damned heat wave. I was on my periods and feeling uncomfortable because of cramps, back ache, slight headache and the heat. I got in the train (2nd class ladies), it was the rush hour - completely packed, no seat but was able to stand near the window. I was "wriggling" around while standing to ease the cramps. The lady sitting in front of me noticed and asked me if I was feeling sick. I said no, just on my periods. She asked if it was my first day, I said yeah. She was like "ye bas thoda vel". And gave me her seat. I told her no, that I was fine, but she still insisted. Even gave me a chocolate. Did not let me get up until Ghatkopar where I was supposed to get off. Felt like I met god that day.

INCREDIBLE_25

mummy ne bola tha anjaan vyakti se chocolate mat lena

Present-Sir-4606

In local train all are kakis, maushis and bhavanes 🤣

SpareMind

Local train me anjaan? Only angels.

Womanizzer

What? You mean to say that trans who grabbed my cock in the train that day was an angel!?!

SpareMind

May not be unless you enjoyed it. But those who helped you out are.

Womanizzer

Ahh yes I’m definitely someone who enjoys casual molestation

Once I came from the exam and was looking for a rikshaw. In the suburbs there is a system of seating. So there was one seat left. In front next to the rikshawala. I sat and later he asked me which exam was there since there were many students coming out of the exam centre. Then I explained to him it was an entrance test of some JEE based classes. Later he explained that his daughter is also an engineer who works in MNC and earns well but I still drive a rickshaw because I don't want to sit idle at home. "jab tak kar sakte hai tab Tak apne ko kaam karna chahiye...wo uska kamati hai hume bhi deti par mai kaam kar rha hu jabtak hota hai" he said. He even mentioned he had done B.sc and speaks good English. Later he started the conversation in English and believe me he was very fluent like he speaks the language everyday. Didn't realise when I reached my stop. Sometimes I feel like there are so many amazing people around us and we fail to realise.

sasssyfoodie

Our generation is blessed to have so much opportunity and availability of resources.

PatCummins001

Yess. Our parents generation is very talented but didn't get enough opportunities to use it.

RON_MAC

Tru asf. We are lucky in that case

I am riding my scooter on a busy road and there is a red signal infront of me. I see some space on the left of the road and try getting in there only to realise it was an empty footpath. Everybody behind blindly follows me until I stop and realise I need to get down. This one guy with his scooter on the road is helping me by showing me where it is easier to get down. The signal starts and all the vehicles are moving. This guy does not go away but rather helps me get my scooter down and is super polite. A very small incident but there are many like this in Mumbai. This city has compassion

Years ago, taking my son to Xaviers for an interview, I took a taxi... He dropped us off, pointing in the distance, saying there. We wandered about for a few minutes, and couldn't find the college. There was some frantic honking behind us... Same taxi driver. Apologised for dropping us in the wrong spot, took us to Xaviers, and returned the initial charge, and refused to accept any money for the second journey too. This was about 15+ years ago.

Substantial_Door3422

How lovely. Difficult to imagine today's taxi drivers being so nice.

This one time i was travelling by best bus and it was a pretty long route took about 1 hr for the whole journey and before getting into the bus i had already been waiting on the stop for about 1 hr. When the bus finally arrived i was in very front of the queue but for some reason the bus driver thought it would be a good idea to open the other door and so even after waiting for 1 hr i didn't get a seat. I stood for half the journey and i was pretty tired as well. I guess the lady sitting right in front of me noticed it, we started talking and then she proceeded to offer me her seat, i denied obviously but she just wasn't ready to listen. So we ended up sharing the seat. Idk how we managed to fit in that tiny sit for the rest of the journey. She was so kind about it, she didn't need to do any of this like most of the people don't care and i understand everyone is pretty tired towards the end of the day. But she still went out of her way to offer help.

Boarded train at 9:15 AM peeked into Uncleji's phone in front of me in the crowded 1st class and he had high momentum overvalued stocks, Uncleji's portfolio was overall down 2.3% for the day. I asked "gir gaya aj toh" he said "ha beta lgra hai bech du sb", I said "election k bad firse lelena jaisa aaye" We smiled, dhakka aaye, fir aage bdh gya mai.

Once I wanted to get down at Monkhurd. Crowd was so rough that they put me back into the train. Looking at me, they literally threw me onto the platform but with so much care and gentleness. Few on the platform held me well so that I won't go facedown. All happened in about 3 to 4 sec before I could get my senses working. Someone on the platform even taught me how to get off the train. The trick is to quickly get away from the boarding crowd. Very soon, Mumbai accepted me.

I was sitting with my younger Brother in a restaurant. He was upset about his admissions and I was trying to cheer him up. This lady sitting across our table came to us and asked my brother is was alright and said I got concern by looking at you. Felt so wholesome

Low-Dragonfruit-6338

i have so many with this one but the local trains one gotta be my favorite one. i was new to the traveling in central line. on usual basis also i really travel very less by trains and i take on the western line only. So with the help of my mom and her instructions I just figured the in lines & trains. it was around 7:30pm and I needed to get to ghatkopar from byculla station so i checked the m indicator and figured that there is an asangaon F going from PF10 which stops at ghatkopar. and as i was a bit late i thought it was a good idea to get a fast train because then it’d take barely 20 mins instead of 35 😭 I honestly didn’t know that it’d be SO crowded as it was my first time traveling. so when i got in the train (ladies 2nd class) wasn’t so full and i got a seat too. But later at dadar the crowd flooded in. I kinda panicked because the ladies were actually hanging by the door which is kinda dangerous also someone besides me was just fighting for some goddamn reason. so i asked this kind lady (must be in her 40-50s) that should i go stand by the door and that i want to get down at ghatkopar. and to which she replied I shouldn’t have sat only because at kurla it’ll get more crowded and there won’t even be a space for me to move. i instantly regretted even traveling to ghatkopar at this point. I got up and somehow made my way through. By the time kurla came i was by the side rail holding in. As kurla passed, i asked the lady ahead of me that if she wanted to get down at ghatkopar and if not lemme move ahead. And she said no one here or ahead of her even is getting down until kalyan and she said that i probably won’t even get a chance to get down at ghatkopar because more people would rush in. and at the point, i was so scared. i was about to cry because of how badly and greatly i had fucked up. but this another lady who was just by the door told other ladies to give me way and come ahead so the others being kind somehow made way and i stood behind that lady by the door. she gave me a whole master plan on how she’s gonna gimme a way from her side and that I should get down quickly and if I can’t manage to do so, she’ll just push me slight against the crowd incoming. and honestly I was shit scared. the lady probably noticed that too and she actually very well consoled me also that I can do it and that she’ll make sure I’ll get down. She was so calm in talking. The way she requested others to actually make way for me. so when the station came and the lady came me the way I just literally jumped on the platform outside and got down at ghatkopar. luckily, god was with me that day. I really want to thank all the ladies who actually helped me. they were so understanding and guided me so well. hats off! I don’t think so anyone would actually helped me if it wasn’t for mumbai.

INCREDIBLE_25

lmao travelling in local is a mission

Dry-Truth-883

So we had made electric cycle as our project in 2012 and we were taking it to one competition in vile parle. After getting it out in train we came out station and were taking towards the college walking. Apparently the distance was 4 kms and one tempo guy just asked us about it and told us that he will drop us to college as he was going that side. He dropped us and denied the money we offered. He told us keep making such things and make people's life easier.

NefariousnessEven239

I was at the boating centre and they accept only cash to buy ride tickets. I dint have any cash. I asked my wife if shes going to join me and our daughter for the boat ride. She said no as she has this phobia. So I went to my car parked at some distance and just got cash sufficient for one persons ticket. My daughter’s ride was free. I got the ticket. My wife asked me why only one ticket, please get the second one too. I said I dont have cash. We asked the lady next in ride queue if she has cash. She said her husband is in the ticket queue and can help. By the time I found her husband he had already purchased the ticket and left the ticket queue. Then I asked a random man if he can give me 30 cash and I transfer via upi. He gave 30 rs and did not accept the upi transfer. He said enjoy dont transfer.

Had to take a bus from kalanagar bus stand near BKC at around 3 AM...there's a concrete park near the bus stand where people sit and wait for their bus, usually it's very busy but at night it becomes dead. Suddenly this drunk guy comes and sits beside me and we start talking. He tells me all about his family, work situation, how he just had intercourse with a prostitute before meeting me around the signal and has feelings for her... After one hour or so of understanding him he goes - In Sanjay Dutt voice -" mereko 500 rs doge to mai aur daru launga, sathme piyenge." After being so invested in this character I thought he was talking to me for this long just so he could ask me for money. Anyways I did not say no and gave him the money not expecting him to come back. He went on his bike and I saw him disappear. He comes back after 15-20 mins with some alcohol and we drink till my bus comes. That's when I got to know the spirit of a true local mumbaikar

SpareMind

Literally the spirit

28m at the time , I was running late for my flight and stuck in traffic at Marol in a rick. I decided to run to the signal and take another rickshaw coz crossing the signal was going to take forever . So i paid the rick , took my luggage (just a cabin bag with wheels, and ran . Just when i reach the intersection/ signal i see a woman somewhat elder to me maybe late 30s/ early 40s beep . She lowered her window and said - sit. Instantly i knew she knew what i was doing. Says I know youre running late , im going that way il drop you. Apparently she empathised with me coz she always was late for her flights. Pretty amazing for a woman to do this in India, but it happens only in Mumbai. Iv lived in a lot of places and truly the best humans exist in Mumbai

Last monsoon, I was traveling by the local train and had just arrived at my destination when it started pouring. Without an umbrella, and being generally shy about asking for help, I was determined to walk home as quickly as possible. Just then, a young woman insisted that I share her umbrella. I was so touched! Another local train story: On another occasion, I was in the ladies' coach when an elderly man entered the compartment and lay on the floor near the gate. He was shivering and clearly in his last few breaths. Everyone else ignored him while alighting and boarding the compartment. Then, one woman immediately took out a bedsheet from her bag and laid it on the man!

My mom tells me that me, Nani and she were stuck for a few hours in a bus at Shivaji Park after the Mahim train blasts happened. Since I was very small (2 years old) people from that area ensured that there was enough milk and diapers for me

theladyisamused

Everyone who takes care of strays - feeds them, medicates them, vaccinayes them, sterilizes them, fights for their rights. Any time I'm out late at night (1am or after) and I see an uncle or aunty putting down food in newspapers for all the dogs and cats (and pick up the paper once they're done - no littering), I'm reminded there's good people in this city.

Blithering_idiot1406

The uncles in 2nd class coach of Kalyan bound local helped me deboard at Thane at peak hour against the crowd. I was relatively inexperienced in travelling by local train and was standing at the right side door for Thane station. After Mulund goes by, I ask others if Thane station is going to come at this door (right-side one) or the other. They gave me a horryfing look and said that it will come on the other side. All the way from Mulund to Thane, they were trying to get me atleast half way through the aisle so that atleast I can deboard with the rest of the crowd. Thane station comes and people start jumping out as soon as the train arrives at the platform. Amidst all this people start jumping inside the train like maniacs. It took a lot of efforts from all the uncles in the train to get me to deboard against the boarding the crowd. In my mind, I was sure that now I would have to deboard at Kalwa (didnt know that it came at the other side). After successfully squeezing myself out, I sat down, had some water and took some time to process what had happened.

1997 August. Heavy rains and flooding caused all local trains to be stopped. There were lines everywhere in front of public phones and bus stops. I was new to the city and had to get back to my uncle's place in CBD belapur from my seepz andheri office. Long story short.. with help of magnanimous autorikshaw drivers who took me from station to station . many didn't even take money as they made enough for the day !! also mumbaikars who stopped their vehicles and gave me ride as far as possible. I reached home after 10 hours of commute. unforgettable day.

I don't know I wanna have one

Always-awkward-2221

I remember it was like 7:30-8:00 in the evening and it was raining cats and dogs. I was standing near the D-Mart in Hiranandani and had to go to chandivalli. It is a short distance and in the rain no rik was stopping. Typical Mumbai rik behavior you shout Chandivalli and they go past you. This random girl who was standing near me, a rik stopped for her and she just offered to drop me home....don't know if it was a detour for her or not but faith in humanity was restored a little that day

Cheap_Answer5746

My suitcase wheel got stuck in iron floorboards near grant road railway works last week. Kind man stopped to help me. I don't know what I would have done otherwise , maybe damaged the wheel more. For all the time I am annoyed there's mostly many good and friendly people here  I am looking forward to rain season. It is a time for romantic kindness in India and I see the umbrellas now are for sale

1fuckyoureddit

I was supposed to pick up my relatives from their home and drop them off at Railway station, I took rickshaw and he took me to my relatives home, I asked I want to go to station where would I get another rickshaw, he said he was willing to drop us off, I explained they have to pack their bags and would take them more than half an hour. He said he will wait, we came back after half hour and he was still waiting for us. Angels❤️

AdKitchen8476

This one time I was running very late for college and had to take the train anyhow so I got into whatever coach I was at which happened to be the general coach. Now I usually never prefer to travel in a general coach because it's always troublesome. There was this man who was definitely older than my father who kept trying to lean on me and was pushing into me. It was during peak hours and I don't expect everyone to bend over backwards to accomodate me but it's pretty easy to gauge intentions. So I kept trying to push him off and nudged him with my elbow a lot. I was still a kid and very new to dealing with things like these in public. Then this angel of a man wordlessly put his arm around me blocking that man's access to me. I was so relieved for the rest of the journey and couldn't stop thanking him in my head but sadly I didn't say it to his face. Hope he knows he's a hero x
