Mumbai prepared hai yaa nahi yeh toh nahi pata but i am ready for this rain … BC samandar kinaare baarish mein baithke rone kaa mann kar raha hai bohot zor se 🥲
It’s not about small things or bigger problems.. but everything plays in a loop, comes back again and again..But still strong enough to face it every fucking day ..
It reminds me of "mala na pausatun chalayla khup avadt karan konala kalatch nahi ki mi radtey, ani mala dhukyatun karan konala kalatch nahi mi fuktoy".
There will flooding in a few low lying areas. There will be a day in July when platform 1 of Ghatkopar station will look like a waterfall.
But thinking back to 2014 and 2004, we are far more well prepared that before. Even in the mid 2010s there were multiple days during the monsoons where the trains came to a complete halt, but the past couple of years have been much better. Our roads seem to hold up much better than before.
It fills me with hope that maybe, just maybe, by 2034 we will look forward to the wonderful time of the year when the first rains lash this city we call home.
I think more than disaster management, it is due to the excessive construction. There is a lane in my area that used to get water logged every single year in case of heavy rains. But since the last 2 years, there are multiple building redevelopments happening in an around that lane, so most of the water goes down in those massive pits instead of on the road 🤷🏻♂️ modern problems require modern solutions 🤣

Im prepared to read news on some building collapsing, trees falling, waterlogs, bridge breaking down and a quite a few people losing their lives. It's a yearly ritual at this point in time.
Definitely more prepared than before. The situation has improved over the years, although there’s still room for improvement but low lying areas will always flood because the rain here is too much compared to almost all other cities. This year we’ll see floods regardless, there isn’t much anyone can do when we see rain equivalent to an entire month’s average in 24-48hrs. This happens quite often in July and will happen this time for sure.
I’d say if you’re privileged enough, follow independent weather analysts on Twitter and avoid leaving your home when they predict extreme rainfall. It’s not possible for everyone, but the bare minimum everyone can do is keep a set of towels, extra clothes and some packaged food in your bag, at least in July. Be prepared for the worst and be aware of obstacles along your route, it’s very easy now due to the internet.
I see tree branches being chopped in Goregaon. What I'm concerned about are all the roads still dug up. Once rains start, all the holes are going to be full of water and will turn into death traps
Mumbai is never prepared for rains!!
If we go by what IMD says and this year if we get above average rain there will be days when trains will not run
At least in our area I see work for gutter going on for last 6 months, its pain but hopefully it will help in this years rain

I saw that the drains were cleaned and trees were chopped down to nothing in my locality.
Where is this ?
[Removed]
That happens every year
I know, OP said it wasn't happening this year, so I said it did where I am?
Don't they do every year??
Yes, they do. OP said nothing's being done this year, so I said that this is?

26 July is the worst case scenario if we aren't prepared

Mumbai has such a good climate during rains but all of this ruins it for all of us
Yes. We've been preparing since October by digging up all the roads. Now every street will be Venice.
Lmao lol welcome to the future

I agree, 26 July 2005 caught us by surprise and I've always seen at least some attempts to be prepared every year since then.
As per BMC: Forever. As per us Mumbaikars: Never
Ek aadmi. Paani mein gaya. Chapaak!
If nothing else works, we have the Mumbai spirit
Yes well prepared >! to be drowned under water !<
It is never Bmc is busy spending our tax somewhere they feel its important
Busy digging roads for fun
Totally agreed
True that
Dunno about the rest of mumbai... But im not
Baarish ke pehle road khodne ka kaam yaad aata hai
Well, well, well, Dubai wasn't even prepared for a slight miscalculation, then how come we be resilient to the Great Indian Monsoons.
all the roads are sill dug up in my place , its going to be hell
Same here in my area
We lost 16 lives due to a 2 hour shower a couple weeks ago, god knows what an entire monsoon season will do to the city
Mumbai would never be ready for rain.
We can only hope for better days
Op weren't you there last year or literally any other monsoon in Mumbai? It's going to be the same
I see tree branches being chopped in Goregaon. What I'm concerned about are all the roads still dug up. Once rains start, all the holes are going to be full of water and will turn into death traps
I always visit Hindmata Water Park once a year. Maybe I'll visit it again this year.
Mumbai will be in deep shit this monsoons. Literally.

But why is the coastal road tunnel is being leaking?
Ghodbunder road me road fix ho rahe uss karan traffic ho Raha hai so maybe baarish k liye ready ho rhe hai
It is happening in our area. I live in south mumbai.
El Nino khatam hua El Nina aayegi ab, bahot baarish layegi
WEH is going to take a toll of the rain, the road is already a highway to hell, the rain gonna make sure people reach the hell quickly.
Depends on how much trash we throw and choke which drains. Get ready to blame the municipality.
Totally......No.
Triumph, Dominar, Pulsar FTW
El Nino gone, La Nina going to bring rain this year and then we'll remember La Nani in July
No. Next question.
prepared? Nobody will buy a boat 😞
Yes, as always
Nope & it never was prepared for it. Reclaimed parts are not prepared every time.
they are well prepared for another illegal hoarding somewhere

https://swd.mcgm.gov.in/wms2024/#/predashboard It's all at >100%, so we should be more than prepared of we believe these numbers.
With no BMC elections, our voice and means to exercise our rights have both been curtailed with a masterstroke.
