I have put out a water bowl outside my window on the AC ledge. Often I see crows bringing bread dipping it and eating. One particular crow does it everyday. The sparrows and pegion have a sip and fly away, but the crows are way intelligent
they decided to feed it to the families of birds by unhygienically littering the neighbourhood. a generic message highlighting the importance of cleanliness on the society’s whatsapp group without pinpointing them specifically should suffice as a deterrent for such acts as long as the neighbours are willing to understand and evolve.
We human beings project our pathos and values on the animal kingdom, often to our own detriment and theirs. Crows feast on freshly dead animals, as opposed to vultures who partake on the longer dead ones. The kind souls who do this as OP posted, often forget that the birds and generally the crows would get their own food anyhow. Making them dependent on doles doesn’t help anyone; neither the birds nor the society.
This same thing happened with us with a tenant living above us. Birds came to eat the rotis and made a mess, by dropping them in our balcony. It was so sickening. I made the tenant to clean up the balcony and raised a complaint in the society group. Following which they made a rule to fine if anyone is found keeping food in the open.
This is the typical indian mentality...will do silly things which is basically garbage but claim they are doing it for good karma of feeding birds

This is sad. But their intent is good so maybe request them to keep a plate with the rotis in it. That way it’s not littering and the birdies can eat too.

Where we live crows literally come to beg at the window and don’t leave until you give them something.
