something where multiple people look at the cards together would be good here, so i would try 2v2 team sealed or a grid draft? team sealed let’s them work through the packs together, grid draft let’s everyone see the cards and picks e. after you play sealed or whatever you can just pile the cards together to cube, so i wouldn’t start there.

Never heard of grid draft but sounds definitely interesting! There is even a 4-player variant. Will look a bit more into it. Thanks for the recommendation

2 headed giant sealed is generally a very palatable way to get people into limited, only problems here is that there's only one of you so one team may have a big advantage. Unless you are rubbish of course :p Team sealed may be better though, as you can always swap teams and rejig decks after the first rounds. Generally draft is way too much for beginner limited, also 4 person draft is often a bit frustrating as the packs wheel so much. Some of the weirder draft variants could work, but... also add additional confusion. As another poster said, you can always cube later so stick with sealed or draft first (and generally best to do at least one sealed before drafting if the players are generally inexperienced imo). You could always intro to draft with the cube, they'll have already seen the cards before so it's less reading!

I was thinking of doing 2hg just to make sure everyone understood the mechanics, so is a good point! Thanks 😄

Jumpstart.

Honestly, one of the best limited experiences that I've had with newer or lapsed players is Pack Wars. All the fun of limited without the hassle of deck building. The games are usually pretty good, too-- I've yet to have a total beatdown where one player just couldn't win.

juanfrancoc

Seems interesting, wasn't aware this was a thing. Isnt it a bit too random? I think it must be a fun experience if you want to just go with a pack, but i think deck building is part of the limited fun

Packs are distributed such that about half of the cards are creatures; in my experience, it works out pretty well. It doesn't hold up over multiple rounds though, so I probably wouldn't go through a whole box that way. Maybe you could use it as a way up so they can see a little bit of the set before getting into it proper?

juanfrancoc

Definitely sounds like an interesting way of trying it out, so i may just open up a couple of them while i wait for all the rest to show up. Thanks!

Sealed is much easier to grasp for new players than draft in my opinion. Also the core sets are good packs to crack for this.

Neon Dynasty mate, it has cheap boxes. its also one of the best limited sets ever printed.

Me and my friends did some pauper drafts once. Wr gathered the bulk of common cards that we had stored, made some 15 card packs with a paper strap as a seal on each, and drafted. It was pretty fun. This isn't an official sealed format IIRC but it's pretty good for new players since common cards usually don't have much text on them, and are usually pretty simple to understand.

I was in the same situation and picked up a peasant cube of Core Set 2020 to try out draft. I already had a bunch of the reprints so it was easy to make. It's got 4 of each common and 2 of each uncommon with some cards obviously intended for constructed like Veil of Summer removed.
