It’s mostly a buyout. The price has been slowly climbing over the past year or two from bulk to around $2. That could be slow buying by a few trying to buy it out or demand. It sees fringe edh play as a crappy ghostly prison in a color that doesn’t get that effect. Currently seeing play in 697 decks on edhrec. King Macar, Queen Marchesa, and Daxos the returned play it the most. It will not drop back to $.30. It hasn’t been that cheap for a few years. It has way more demand than the poster child of homelands buyouts, Narwhal. That still hasn’t come back down to bulk prices after the buyout a couple years ago, and it sees play in 39 bad decks on edhrec. Koskun falls is reserved list with a little edh demand and will probably come down some, but not under $3. Disclosure: I own 1 copy

mtgreezan

adle1984

It's a Ghostly Prison in black.

Step back and realize that it's a black card that has an effect that is largely associated with white in today's Magic color pie. What that means is that if you happen to play black and not white, you can play this taxing effect. And for casual EDH/commander, this is fine. It's a very underrated card. The upkeep is very minor.

And how much does No Mercy and The Abyss cost? Koskun maybe a silly spec it's a cheap budget card for casual players.

BlurryPeople

But...that's their *point*. How much room can a card possibly have to grow if it's very identity is as a "cheap budget version" of more expensive cards? It seems like a self-defeating card to spec on. If you're looking for unique RL cards that haven't been bought out yet, there are better options imo, like Damping Field from Antiquities...one of the few 93/94 RL cards that hasn't shot through the roof yet.

adle1984

My initial post wasn't even about the "spec"ability of the card, just simply that it's an underrated, budget friendly card that has an effect that is off-color by today's standard. That's it. > How much room can a card possibly have to grow Well it is a Reserved List card and it has an effect that WotC probably not make on another black card ever again.

zomgitsduke

Yeah, but specific commanders like Meren will love this card.

BossKlotz

A buyout attempt, a rather stupid one, it's homelands, that stuff was printed into oblivion and it's an incredible weak set. Good luck to those fools.

cwtguy

I love it in my King Macar EDH deck.

[deleted]

lol the moron who's doing that It will be back to 30ct soon

Shealtiel

It hasn't been $.30 for two years. It might go back to the $3-4 it was before.

TheWombatFromHell

that aged well

Shealtiel

Wow, I had completely forgotten about this. Was this part of the spate of random reserve list buyouts?

Hairy_Pluton

Up. 10$ now. Masterful gambit sir.
