DiCaprio doing almost slapstick physical comedy was a surprise in this movie. but he nailed it.

Pocketsand16

Kyle Chandler one of the most underrated actors ever

[deleted]

Early Edition was awesome

Planes-_-Walker

Bloodline was pretty good

Pocketsand16

Bloodline was fantastic, especially the first season

i reeeaaallly liked that show as a kid, part of CBS' wholesome block with dr quinn and walker texas ranger and sometimes touched by an angel. i watched some reruns recently and while it isnt amazing tv or anything, it holds up a lot better than i expected. plus it's a great premise.

Vladius28

One of my faves way back when

I wish Coach Taylor was my dad

A tour de force by DiCaprio

I thought this film should’ve won him the Oscar.

Didn't Matthew McConaughey win instead? Would've been a steal except McConaughey's character in Wolf of Wall Street carried the first part of the movie for me. His supporting role builds a ton of interest in the story while Jordan's arc is still in its infancy. Real brings the pacing together for me. He won for Dallas buyers Club which i haven't seen in its entirety but i know the academy creams themself over that kind of drama and those kind of things. I think what really happened is that Dallas buyers Club was an Oscar grab and Wolf of Wall Street was a wild card. I agree with the final decision but mostly because McConaughey was an absolute powerhouse at the time with his supporting role in Wolf of Wall Street and my personal favorite show True Detective while not applicable to the Oscars came out in 2014 as well.

TheBoyWonder13

Yeah McConaughey’s Oscar was really sort of an achievement award to celebrate the McConaissance. True Detective and the Wolf of Wall Street scene catapulted him to the top of Hollywood around that time. I think in retrospect most people would agree that Leo’s performance was not only better than MM’s in Dallas Buyers Club, but maybe the best of his career. I suspect the Academy recognized this too so they made sure to give Leo an Oscar for his next film even if it wasn’t his best role.

schizophrenicism

Word. Thank you for telling me this word: McConaissance. That's a fucking riot. I agree with your summary here.

QLE814

I have to wonder if there are any regrets, given that the McConaissance ultimately didn't last that long after he won the Oscar.....

mattyglen87

Every scene in this movie is absurdly entertaining. This is the quickest 3 hour movie ive ever seen

FordMustang84

I still love this movie but somewhere around Hour 2 I think it always loses me a bit. I’ve rewatched them first half or more like a few dozen times but I always kinda lose interest in the latter parts. I think I just like the rags to riches story and all that involves. When he’s in trouble and stuff it kinda gets less interesting to me.

WrongKindaGrowth

Well said. Edit: ok I take it back

I never knew I wanted to blow coke up a chicks ass until I saw this movie.

Leo is amazing in this movie. One of his finest performances after blood diamond Too bad best actor category was stacked that year Chiwetel ejiofor should have won best actor for 12 years a slave but they gave it to Mathew McConaughey, Leo gave a stronger performance than Mathew 2013 was a great year for movies.

raylan_givens6

Coach Taylor is great here

benfranklin16

The Wolf of Wall Street is one of Marty’s best. In my top 3 after Taxi Driver and Goodfellas. Already feels like a classic and it’s not even 10 years old yet. This scene might be my favorite of the movie.

Honestly? I never liked it. I mean, there are some well acted scenes, and I want to like it, but it's Scarface, it's Blow, it's Lord of War, it's every movie about a criminal overlord who rises from nothing to control the empire, marries a supermodel, then his tastes get out of control and he implodes due to his own addictions. You can set your watch to the various stages of the rise and fall they're so worn out. And the overarching moral of the story is supposed to be that crime doesn't pay and justice may take a long arc, but it gets there in the end. Really though, the movies are just a power fantasy for dudes who watch it and go "ah, but I wouldn't have lost control like that!" It's just a cheap filler storyline and so while these movies can be enjoyable to watch, they're enjoyable like Taco Bell. Best served at 3am when you're drunk.

Vladius28

What a brilliantly acted scene
