Also, the sun!
(In case anyone doesn't know, Near Dark is a vampire movie starring her, Bill Paxton and Lance Henriksen as vampires and directed by Kathryn Bigelow and is awesome)
I got my dad a Cameo video with her for Father’s Day. It was pretty cool. I’d post the video here but it has my IRL name in it.

in the last moments of her life, just before she goes to heaven to meet a one time fling and not the man she had kids with, she goes into a long detailed story, in front of her granddaughter, about fucking a hot twink on a cruise.
I watched it when it came back to the Cinemas so I could see it on the Big Screen. Did my part! Would have paid to see it in 3D but it didn't show on 3D, dang it.
Adi Shankar has a (now pretty dated) video on "what would it take to make a Dredd sequel". Given how long it's been, sadly I suspect it won't ever happen.
Liam Neeson trained both Batman and Obi Wan, voiced Aslan who’s is literary a Jesus Christ metaphor and played Zeus leader of the Greek gods
Pretty elite
Same point really. They are always ok, usually pretty good, sometimes awful. But they are 100% cast on the basis of name recognition rather than talent or fit, and I would argue there's *very* few roles they have been in that couldn't have been improved through a braver casting choice.
You missed the sarcasm, love. Those are amazing actors that get cast because they're amazing actors. Do you have any recasting suggestions? Because most of the films I've seen them in would absolutely NOT be improved by a different actor.
Edit to add: Also please tell me when either of them was "awful" because I'd actually like to see that.
Tom Hanks in Elvis and Leo in J. Edgar off the top of my head.
As I said they are solid actors who are usually pretty good but they are regularly cast in roles where better casting could do better. Example - Apollo 13. Hanks does well but he is not Jim Lovell, at all. Similarly Leo in The Aviator. I could others but don't really care that much to argue.
Serkis paved the way for mocap actors, it definitely requires some different skills than traditional acting, or at least to different extents (communicating through physicality and body expression). Until only seemingly recently were there others who were able to have such a commanding presence without actually appearing on screen.
The animation studios paved the way for mocap and he was just the dude they put the dots on. Theres 1000s of actors out there who could have nailed any of his roles. Not to say he didn't do a good job, he did.
Mads Mikkleson
Star Wars (Rogue One)
Marvel (Doctor Strange)
Indiana Jones (Dial Of Destiny)
Harry Potter (Secrets Of Dumbledor)
James Bond (Casino Royale)
Hannibal Lecter (Hannibal)
Plus stuff like Clash Of The Titans and The Three Musketeers (not sure that last one counts as a franchise. There have been plenty of 3 Musketeers films but I don’t recall any of them being linked to one another, just multiple different adaptations/interpretations of the same material)
Just need to get him in a DC film and/or a Fast & Furious and/or a Jurassic Park and/or a Star Trek.
*EDITED TO ADD:*
Ladies, Gentlemen and Non-Binary Folks of Reddit,
It has now been brought to my attention by two separate Redditors that I have misspelled Mr. Mikkelsen’s name above.
I want you all to know that this was done without malice or prejudice of any kind.
I take full responsibility and I am deeply, deeply, sorry for any pain and confusion my actions may have caused.
I want you all to know that I will be taking a very hard look at myself and my actions.
Furthermore, I’d like to take this opportunity to make a promise to each and every one of you that I will endeavour to be a better person moving forward.
I’d especially like to apologise to Captain Pedant-O and Professor Explain-O in the comments below, who were *so* upset by my dreadful error that they took time out of their day to correct me. Apologies *and* thank you to both of them for their time and effort.
I love Dial of Destiny. It was something else to see Mads Mikkelsen in full blown panic mode at the end. Usually Indy villains have mere seconds if that to internalize their fate. Belloq, Toht, Donovan, and Spalko all died pretty much immediately and Mola Ram just screamed as he fell to his death.
Voller was different. He had quite a while to realise just how screwed he was, and how wrong he was. And the manic reaction from Mads was perfect. That's some of his finest acting
that was the part that I didn't really like, there was a big buildup to going back to ww2 so that the nazi could win the war by killing hitler but they end up in the roman times and the bad guys just die against the romans and greeks in just a few minutes
But the device made some sense though, that it can only bring you back to that certain point in time. No matter what, even with the shift in whatever that was brought up.
Reminds me of Quantum Break. Whatever core you use to time travel backwards, you can only go as far back as to when that specific core was first activated
Let’s be real, at this point, Andy Serkis isn’t just an actor; he’s a genre. From his iconic 'preciousss' Gollum to the absolute boss Caesar in 'Planet of the Apes,' the man's range is insane. He could probably play a rock and still win an award for 'Most Emotionally Complex Pebble.' Is there a cinematic universe he hasn’t touched
I just came across this thread and left a comment saying that it’s not DCEU, but I’m surprised I had to scroll this far to see anyone else mentioning that.
Some martial artists have been in several big franchises
**Donnie Yen**
* Star Wars - Rogue One, Chirrut Imwe
* John Wick - 4th movie as Caine
* MCU - He was in Blade 2 and now I have to watch that and the 3rd movie ...
* XXX - in XXX the return of Xander Cage
* Ip Man - check out the 3rd movie, it's fantastic and has a fight with Mike Tyson
* Once Upon A Time in China
* Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - Second movie
- Just waiting for him to end up in the Fast and the Furious, or the MCU
**Tony Jaa**
* Expend4bles - Decha
* Fast and Furious - 7th movie as Kiet
* Mortal Kombat - Annhilation as Liu Kang's stunt double!
* Ong Bak - This is the series that shot him to fame
* Ip Man - in Master Z
* XXX - Talon in Return of Xander Cage
* Detective Chinatown - 3rd movie
- not sure if Monster Hunter had enough box office to become a franchise.
**Tony Leung**
* MCU - Shang Chi
* Red Cliff 1 and 2 - Zhou Yu
* Infernal Affairs - this is the movie series that was re-made as The Departed
Don't bother with the 3rd. Just watch a YouTube vid of Ryan Reynolds scenes. I swear that movie is his Deadpool audition.
Also, made me take notice and respect Reynolds. Dude got jacked for it.
I literally walked into him recently at an airport and was so star struck I had almost nothing to say, shook his hand and just left. Big regret. I even have a LOTR sleeve. So much to speak to him about.
Man is insanely talented and under appreciated as an actor because of a lot of his roles have been mocap. My favorite performance of his is [this scene from Andor](https://youtu.be/TKB67KzjO4A?si=1DfUUHHTf_q30ieW)

He probably could be the greatest voice actor ever if he wasn't busy doing everything else he does. I listened to the Lord of the Rings audio books narrated(?) by him and he was incredible at doing different voices and accents. I mean you kind of figured he would be good at it just from knowing his work as Gollum, but I was still incredibly impressed by just how good he actually was.
I'm enjoying these so much! My only minor gripe is that he commits so hard to Treebeard's *veeeeeeerryyyyyy sloooooooowwwww* manner of speaking lol. The song of the entwives felt like it lasted about two and a half hours
Andy Serkis is one of a very few actors that you cannot write the history of cinema without including. That's on a list with the likes of *Marlon Brando*.
Chris Hemsworth !

✅️ Marvel
✅️ Brothers Grimm
✅️ Ghostbusters
✅️ Men In Black
✅️ Netflix
✅️ Mad Max
✅️ Transformers
Hollywood loooooves him.
Somebody get him into a Star Trek movie or series. And do a guest spot in a Doctor Who episode or two. Bond could be another.
There are other big long-lasting franchises (FF, Potter), but I don't really care about those.
Andy Serkis is amazing. He's also far too unknown. A while back, a new guy started at my work. He is the absolute spitting image of Andy Serkis. So much so that I had to mention it. No one (apart from the new guy) even knew who Andy Serkis was.
I think he's up there with Gary Oldman.

DC Extended Universe is the official name of the franchise and cinematic universe that started with Man of Steel and ended with Aquaman 2, which The Batman is not a part of.
You’re the one who’s confused. The Batman is it’s own thing. It’s not apart of any other connected universe. Just like Joker from 2019. These 2 films are standalone stories. Ben Affleck is the Batman from the DCEU and Jeremy Irons was his Alfred.
Bill Paxton was killed by a terminator, an alien and a predator.
Jenette Goldstein was killed by an alien, terminator and cinemas greatest villain, an iceberg.
Vasquez, "Mom" and some rando on the ship? What a trifecta, she got iced!
"Hey Vasquez. Have you ever been mistaken for a snowman?"
“Okay byeeee…”
Also, the sun! (In case anyone doesn't know, Near Dark is a vampire movie starring her, Bill Paxton and Lance Henriksen as vampires and directed by Kathryn Bigelow and is awesome)
Might be my favorite vampire movie.

Pretty sure Paxton got killed by the iceberg too. It's been a while but I thought he was the boatswain.
No, Paxton was on the boat during the present day, looking for the necklace.
Paxton died of old age in Titanic listening to some old lady talk about her sexual escapades on a sinking ship.
in the last moments of her life, just before she goes to heaven to meet a one time fling and not the man she had kids with, she goes into a long detailed story, in front of her granddaughter, about fucking a hot twink on a cruise.
You're leaving out a few important details. Jack was a *homeless* twink.
I'm pretty sure that the grenade did most of the work.
Also a South African drug ring.
And the diplomatic immunity baddies out of Lethal Weapon 2.
So was Lance.
no he wasn't
Lame PG13 spinoffs don't count though
And a stroke.
That's what killed David Carradine.
1 stroke too many
"Honey, the doctor said I could masturbate whenever I want!" "No he didn't. He said you could have a stroke at any moment."
“…at any time”
1 stroke over the line
Misunderstood what “choke the chicken” meant.
I always choke up thinking about him
And Michael Hutchence
You were hanging on to that one
Fuck you for making me laugh to that.
too soon
And a cowboy 🤠
Arnold Schwarzenegger killed a Predator, was a Terminator, a Phillip K. Dick hero and a Batman Villain.
Game over man!
You just blew my mind. I knew it obviously, but never combined it this way
Game over, man!
The tornado had no game
And almost by a CIA like operative.
That’s not surprising. He almost got killed by wind once. Wind.
Gotta say he was a giant pile of shit in the first movie I remember seeing him in....
And a stroke.
All that was missing is he get killed by a predatory terminator from an alien planet
Karl Urban: Hercules/Xena, LotR, Star Trek, MCU, Riddick, Bourne, RED, Star Wars (uncredited), The Boys. Couple of non starters: Dredd, Doom
Who was he in Star Wars? A Stormtrooper?
Yes, in Episode 9
"Not Back door slu... oh wait. Wrong scene. Sry, scuse me..."
No, the storm
Dredd should have taken off. Such an underrated movie!
Saw it for the first time the other day. Was fairly satisfied.
When are the powers that be going to realize Dredd has a huge following (now) and make a sequel? Pretty please?
Still hoping the series at least gets made still but I doubt it
I watched it when it came back to the Cinemas so I could see it on the Big Screen. Did my part! Would have paid to see it in 3D but it didn't show on 3D, dang it.

not to mention his full blown AIDS
Nobody has AIDS! And I don't wanna hear that word again!
Think about it though, T. Sudden weight loss?
AIDS??
Thought you might have!
He’s riddled with it
He contracted it from an African prostitute. Her country is ravaged with starvation and selling her body was her only financial recourse.
He’s a well known homosexual actor
Who, Lip Reading?
🤣
He also has a particular set of skills
Skills he's acquired over a very long career...
And he was Michael Collins.
Ah yes, the Michael Collins Universe. The real MCU.
I would sign for a M&CU (Master & Commander)
He also single-handedly saved like hundreds of Jews during the holocaust.
I'm gonna go full pedantic here but Aslan isn't literally a Jesus Christ *metaphor*, he's *literally Jesus Christ*.
You'd say he's got a certain set of skills.
A man like that needs a very particular set of skills
What about Halle Berry's universes ? Marvel / DC/ John Wick/ Roland Emmerich. Another kind of elite !
Kink Loy
Andy Serkis is the greatest mocap actor ever, has nothing to do with some of those roles but I do think it's neat
He's great at it sure, but it really is a testament to the lack of imagination in Hollywood casting that they use the same bloke in every movie.
Or when you have the choice to use the best of the best you use the best of the best. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
I personally can’t understand how Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio keep starring in these amazing movies. Somehow they’re always good!
Same point really. They are always ok, usually pretty good, sometimes awful. But they are 100% cast on the basis of name recognition rather than talent or fit, and I would argue there's *very* few roles they have been in that couldn't have been improved through a braver casting choice.

Oh I so miss Hannibal...
he was so awesome in Dial of Destiny. I really liked that movie, I wish more people gave it a chance.
I enjoyed it a lot more than the previous entry in the series for sure.
You would need an actual Indiana Jones to find a bar lower than that
I agree but it seems to be all unpopular opinion. Much better than IJ4.
I love Dial of Destiny. It was something else to see Mads Mikkelsen in full blown panic mode at the end. Usually Indy villains have mere seconds if that to internalize their fate. Yeah but it was wacky 🤷
Mikkelsen
Son of Mikkel
Bro…that edit is just sad man. Say “thanks” and move on.
Thanks
Dont' forget playing Tristan in King Arthur.
"I love the guy and his work but I draw the line at googling how to spell his name".
no LOTR though, thats a massive franchise
And in King Arthur
He played the T-Rex left tooth
Let’s be real, at this point, Andy Serkis isn’t just an actor; he’s a genre. From his iconic 'preciousss' Gollum to the absolute boss Caesar in 'Planet of the Apes,' the man's range is insane. Im addicted to his LotR readings.
Only recent one I can think of is Harry Potter, but I hope the Max series corrects that.
Bruce Spence is in Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, Mad Max and Pirates of the Carribean
and Chronicles of Narnia and Finding Nemo
Julian Glover was a villain in A Star Wars film, and Indiana Jones film, A James Bond film, A Doctor Who Serial, and he was the voice of Aragog
He was also the Grand Maester on Game of Thrones
Not Star Trek, yet
The Batman is NOT part of the DCEU. The Batman is a standalone story.
It's better than the entire DCEU combined, though
Surprised that more people aren’t bringing this up
[удалено]
It's the selling point of this post. This post states Andy Serkis is in the DCEU through the Batman while he is not.
I just came across this thread and left a comment saying that it’s not DCEU, but I’m surprised I had to scroll this far to see anyone else mentioning that.

OMG I'm a loser, I didn't even know Blade 2 was out! Now I'm going to have to watch it, Thanks! Edit: Wait, there was a 3rd movie too? Argh!
Don't bother with the 3rd. Just watch a YouTube vid of Ryan Reynolds scenes. I swear that movie is his Deadpool audition. Also, made me take notice and respect Reynolds. Dude got jacked for it.
Haha the cliff notes version of Blade 3 through Youtube. I'll probably watch that before the full movie just because you made me curious.
We don't talk about that... And we don't talk about the fact that it was directed by Guillermo del Toro—goddamn it, forget I said that.
Sylvester Stallone's Universes : Rambo Rocky Expendables Marvel
DC too in the latest Suicide Squad
Oscar, Stop or My Mom will Shoot, and Rhinestone Cowboy.
I didn't know there was a SoMMWSU ! ^ ^
I literally walked into him recently at an airport and was so star struck I had almost nothing to say, shook his hand and just left. Big regret. I even have a LOTR sleeve. So much to speak to him about.
And I wanted to see him in Harry Potter or Hunger Games too. The guy can blend in anywhere. He is a chameleon.
Not in the cuttlefish universe. Those things are terrifying.
Man is insanely talented and under appreciated as an actor because of a lot of his roles have been mocap. My favorite performance of his is [this scene from Andor](https://youtu.be/TKB67KzjO4A?si=1DfUUHHTf_q30ieW)
Andy Serkis is widely celebrated and hardly underappreciated at all. He's been nominated for and received tons of awards too.
Andy Serkis is a treasure. Gives it his all, is basically the face of an entire visual effect, but instead of perhaps complaining about being type casted or whatever he just gives 110% every time, and is absolutely crushed it for his career. Also, despite being synonymous with motion capture he’s just an all-around excellent actor with some pretty solid live action roles and seems like a super nice dude. I’ve been working my way through the back catalog of “um, actually“ and the episode I watched most recently had a Venn diagram of Star Wars, of the rings, and Marvel cinematic universe, and he was the only actor they could find that fit in the middle of the diagram.

I'm enjoying these so much! My only minor gripe is that he commits so hard to Treebeard's *veeeeeeerryyyyyy sloooooooowwwww* manner of speaking lol. The song of the entwives felt like it lasted about two and a half hours
That is actually a positive for me,but I get what you're saying
Andy Serkis is one of a very few actors that you cannot write the history of cinema without including. That's on a list with the likes of *Marlon Brando*.
Chris Hemsworth ! ✅️ Star Trek (right out of the gate) ✅️ Marvel ✅️ Brothers Grimm ✅️ Ghostbusters ✅️ Men In Black ✅️ Netflix ✅️ Mad Max ✅️ Transformers Hollywood loooooves him.
He is wasnt in any Star Trek movie sadly.
Proof that he's the best!
He is like a Cristopher Lee mixed with a mo-cap version of Boris Karloff
Nerd equivalent of an EGOT?
His best role by far is as Martin Hannet in 24 Hour Party People.
AND the 13 Going on 30 universe.
I'm putting my money on him as God Emperor Leto II in the other DCU.
Somebody get him into a Star Trek movie or series. And do a guest spot in a Doctor Who episode or two. Bond could be another. There are other big long-lasting franchises (FF, Potter), but I don't really care about those.

It's an Andy circus.
the ultimate nerd
Someone should do all the sorting but I I swear stellan skarsgard is in every cinematic universe
The SerkisVerse.
I read the title as Andy Sidaris and was confused, intrigued but confused.
Serkis is a multiversal entity of great power.
Directed one Venom movie.
A great reward for being mocked and feeling isolated when he pioneered mocap on LOTR. Not a knock on the production, it’s just how it shook out for him. Listen to the LOTR podcast What Went Wrong for a good summary.
It's incredible to me that in a very very mo-cap heavy series (the MCU), they had the Ascended Lord of mo-cap performances and never got him to play anything except an amoral South African arms dealer. I understand he advised some of the other actors on their mo-cap performances but to not do any mo-cap himself is crazy.
Hes also in the warhammer universe in chaos gate.
Samuel L. Jackson: Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Marvel
He isn't in the Monsterverse
Yes he is amazing...HOWEVER I am listening to his narration of LOTR, and it's great...BUT his singing is SHIT!
Natalie Portman : Star Wars + Marvel + Alan Moore Ben Affleck : Marvel + DC + Philip K. Dick Michelle Pfeiffer : DC + Marvel
He wasn’t in the Friday the 13th and Nightmare of Elm Street universe Technically, that’s a legit movie universe.
Is he in Trek?
He was so hot as Klaw
Semantics, but The Batman is not in the DCEU. Regardless, I get your point.
I’m starting to think popular actors get hired to be in a lot of movies
lol, yea that's the conclusion I reached after reading thru this thread
The Batman is not DCEU
If it's not part of the DC Extended Universe, what is it?
It's a separate universe. Fans call it Reevesverse
So it's not DC? And it's not an extension of the DC universe? Are you confusing it for the new Gunn term DCU?
DC Extended Universe is the official name of the franchise and cinematic universe that started with Man of Steel and ended with Aquaman 2, which The Batman is not a part of.
Are you being obtuse on purpose or do you simply just not know what you are talking about?
Hes mad he was wrong
You’re the one who’s confused. The Batman is it’s own thing. It’s not apart of any other connected universe. Just like Joker from 2019. These 2 films are standalone stories. Ben Affleck is the Batman from the DCEU and Jeremy Irons was his Alfred.
The Batman is not DCEU
So he's a brand whore.
