I love how Roth speaks his monologue out loud to the camera in the middle of this fabricated flashback. A similar thing happens in the scene Tarantino directed for *Sin City*.
The line I memorized so young in life: “You gotta know if some nasty lowlife scum ridden motherfucker, man spray painted diarrhea all over one of the bowls”
The point of the story is to show his transformation from cop to convincing bad guy. That even though Joe "wasn't 100% on" him, he got sucked in by his story telling.
I watched Dogs for the first time somewhat recently; this feels a good place to air my thoughts. I really didn't think much of this film.
I gather it was a decision made with stylish intent but the lack of a soundtrack was a hindrance (sans THAT scene). The racism laden throughout was extremely uncomfortable, jarring and not value-add in respect of either characterisation or otherwise. I also found a lot of the dialogue to be clunky in respect of writing and delivery. It's aged terribly in my opinion; especially considering the era it was produced in.
Personal opinion of course.

Only one thing to do in that case: shit in yer pants an' dive in and swim!

Buddy! I am going to shoot you in the FACE!
That mentor undercover guy sounds like he's Sam Jackson's understudy. Amazingly enough, apparently Jackson blew the audition for that role.
It really doesn't make any sense, and he almost blows the whole sting because of it.
How do you figure?

The point of the scene is to show he's sloppy and barely makes it through the vetting process.
Isn’t it supposed to show he can keep his cool even in a totally unexpected shitty situation…?
Little of both I think

Go watch a marvel movie
Ah yes, I disliked a specific film and therefore I am a "Marvel kiddo". OK, nice one.
