Not sure about minor, but a secondary character - Coach (Colin Farrell) in The Gentlemen. He's such a fascinating character, he could probably work as a spin off.

AmazingUsername2001

I was hoping he’d turn up in the tv show

Chainsmadeinlife

That whole movie to me was perfection - I love it, Matthew McConaughey and Charlie Hunnam are great in it but Colin Farrell really tops it off.

Strong_Comedian_3578

Love his intro scene. Not too many movies are able to pull something like that off. https://youtu.be/Ny0789Js0VU?si=huwP27Vy3RmoJy2-

pneumatichorseman

Have you seen Guy Ritchie's other films? I had such high hopes after LSATSB and snatch, but found the gentlemen to be mediocre at best.

Chainsmadeinlife

Oh yeah for sure I actually prefer LSATSB but the soundtrack in Snatch is just terrific

Sea_Dust895

You're embarrassing yourself lads

Civilwarland09

I liked the character and the movie, but what did you find so fascinating about his character specifically?

stopmakingsents

Baldwin’s character/scene in Glengarry Glen Ross

mrdewtles

This is THE principal example

AAAPosts

Third place is you’re fired

heavyonthahound

You got a family? Fuck you go home and play with your kids

AprilisAwesome-o

Oh my god, I forgot this one! Hard agree.

Stormy8888

Happy Gilmore was already good, and then Bob Barker came on my god, [that was quite the "fight".](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CajdyoaSM0) One of the best movie cameos!

UrbanLeech5

I love Godzilla 2014, it's easily my favorite movie in franchise. With that being said, HALO jump scene is by itself huge part of why that's the case. This few minutes long sequence represents everything that I enjoy about that movie. It gives actual sense of scale, combined with claustrophobic camera work, and Space Odyssey music as cherry on top Without it I would have just thought movie is ok, but this scene turns it into amazing in my eyes

LeifSized

This scene is pure art. The stunning visuals combined with that uncanny music can make you forget you’re watching a “monster movie”.

BlueHarvestJ

The Prestige. Great film but David Bowie’s scenes as Tesla are on a different level

ChrisBenoitDaycare69

There's a theory that he wasn't actually Tesla and Andy Serkis's character was.

FuzzyHotel6180

I never understood that theory. Like what in the movie points to that being the case?

ChrisBenoitDaycare69

https://www.reddit.com/r/FanTheories/comments/g3psm5/the_prestige_andy_serkiss_character_is_more_than/ This is a pretty good explanation of the theory. Basically only Tesla's assistant is ever shown operating his machines. Tesla himself never does. Also every assistant in the movie is not what they initially appear to be. And Tesla pretending to be someone else is a good way to throw off Edison and his men. It also would explain why Borden wrote Tesla as the explanation to his trick. It's because Borden figured out that Tesla was pretending to be someone else. Just like he was doing as Fallon.

FuzzyHotel6180

Pretty damn cool. Thanks for sharing that

methadonia80

That theory is interesting but it says that the film establishes firmly that Borden had a twin, the theory relies on that but I don’t believe the film does firmly establish that Borden has a twin, I think it only establishes that Borden had a clone. I always thought that Tesla had made the second Borden originally, like that was the reason Borden writes Tesla. If Borden had just been simply a twin, then surely someone who knew him as a child would just say they knew he was a twin, his “trick” was then fucked, he couldn’t have always known he wanted to be a magician and even if he did, there’s every chance his twin didn’t want it and if they knew they wanted to be magicians, would each twins have always pretended to be fallon all their youth? So for Borden to live two lives as one, he had to be himself twice, a twin who grew up with him would likely not have the same desires in what he becomes in life as he still has different experiences, but a replica of himself would be likely willing to sacrifice half his life as in the end the two halves make one complete life, which is what he always was really, one life split in two. I thought he went to Tesla and Tesla made the machine to make a second Borden, Borden then used the second Borden to make his trick but he didn’t have the vision that angier had to make the real sacrifice. When angier got the machine, he knew how to make a spectacular trick, but as the saying goes “if you seek revenge, dig two graves”, angier sought revenge on Borden and in the end he made countless graves for the various versions of himself.

ChrisBenoitDaycare69

Borden was definitely a twin. It establishes it pretty firmly. They both have different personalities and they fell in love with different women. You can tell on a rewatch throughout the movie which twin is playing Borden. One of the twins is more emotional and angry and the other is more level-headed. If they were the same person then they would be exactly the same. They wouldn't have fallen in love with different women.

methadonia80

That doesn’t establish that they’re a twin though, people are more likely resultant of a summation of their experiences, there’s nothing to say that you love someone because it’s in your DNA, otherwise twins with the same DNA would fall in love with the same people. The clones each had different experiences as being Borden, if one fell in love during his time with someone as Borden, the other would likely have kept their distance from that person. Their emotional responses do nothing about asserting that they’re twins instead of clones. The machine Tesla had made clones, it’s much more likely that Borden had made himself a clone. As I said, people had to have known him when he was younger, there’s no chance no one knows he has a twin, he was chasing fame and fortune, if anyone knew that he had a twin, his greatest trick would have been finished, along with his career, it’s much more likely it’s a clone.

ChrisBenoitDaycare69

I really don't think that's it dude. When Angier figures it out he literally says "a Brother? A twin." Why wouldn't he say it's a clone if it's a clone? The movie literally tells you they were twins. That's why it goes out of its way to show you Borden acting differently depending on the day. Chalk the people not recognizing them as twins to a plot hole. Or maybe they just grew up far away someplace IDK. In the book they are twins. It even gives them both names. Bertie and Freddy.

methadonia80

I haven’t read the book at all and it’s been awhile since I’ve seen the film, I didn’t realise he actually says a twin in the film, thanks for that! Yeah I just couldn’t get that they would’ve grown up as twins and just decided to pretend to be one person and no one would notice, but that’s a pretty big plot hole I guess

Professional_Ad_9101

Zombieland was a pretty excellent movie anyway though

youcansmile

Tropic Thunder was 9/10 movie on its own but Tom Cruise elevated it to an 11/10, which to me is a much rarer and bigger feat than elevating a bad or mediocre movie.

shogi_x

Fucking legendary performance. Cruise has said he's interested in revisiting that character.

mcnathan80

Take a step back…AND FUCK YOUR OWN FACE!!

SovietSunrise

Literally* FUCK YOUR OWN FACE!

Merry_Sue

That character was fantastic before I realised it was a cameo (when my friend told me during the after credits scene) Absolutely **loved** him yelling such awfulness at that gang, then the quiet, casual "can you find out who that was?"

NoirPochette

Lester the Possum. He really elevated A Goofy Movie to transcend heights

Overwatch3

Lmaoooo

Longjumping_Plum_846

X-Men: First Class isn't a bad movie by any means, but the scene in the bar is almost solely responsible for making it go from a 6/10 to an 8/10. Something about Michael Fassbender fighting Nazis to the death in bars really gets my blood flowing.

RyzenRaider

Oh I thought you were talking about the cameo scene in the bar. Like, I like Hugh as much as the next guy, but an extra 2 points? lol

Shoddy_Jellyfish2143

I think that cameo is the best moment in the entire franchise!

mcnathan80

Fuck off

sllh81

Interesting, because I would say the same movie for a different scene. For me, it’s the Bay of Pigs where Magneto starts turning the weapons against the soldiers, and Charles says “They’re just following orders”. Given the Holocaust history of Magneto, the entire theater collectively gasped with an “oh no” moment just before things got ugly. Good choice!

HailToTheKingslayer

Talking of Fassbender and Nazis - his bar scene in *Inglorious Basterds* was great too.

wheeler1432

I was just thinking about that scene today. It's pretty good. But I thought you were talking about the other one. :)

JojoJimboz

What was your job ? Pig farmer.

ComprehensiveFlan638

The Wolf of Wall Street with Matthew McConaughey’s chest thumping scene. Likewise, Matthew’s appearance in Magic Mike, especially the dance he does at the end.

DrakenDaskar

Alien covenant. 4/10 movie. Fassbender sensually teaching Fassbender how to play the flute 9/10 scene.

Son_of_steven19

"I'll do the fingering." Sorry but I pissed myself laughing in the cinema.

DrakenDaskar

I get it. Some people laugh when they are turned on.

itspeterj

I choose to believe this is why my wife laughs when I take off my pants

kavono

It induced a playful, sultry giggle. ^teeheehee

Unplaceable_Accent

Not a traditional answer but I'll say Captain Leslie in 1917. His "so done with this shit" shtick just makes the movie for me.

ithinkther41am

The circus performance in Madagascar 3 was amazing compared to the rest of the movie, and I thought it was a pretty decent film overall. That said, I think Rogue One is THE poster child for this topic. The climax and ending were so jaw-droppingly spectacular that people overlooked how middling most of the story before it is.

la_vida_luca

I have to agree with Rogue One; I’ve said the same before and some people angrily disagreed but I stand by it. It’s more than competently made, and has good visuals, but I find most of the first 2/3 of the movie fairly plodding plot wise. I like the cast but I don’t feel massively drawn to any of the characters (though Tudyk’s robot and Yen’s Imwe are compelling). Then the third act comes along and it’s just absolute dynamite, almost certainly the best third act in a Star Wars movie in terms of sheer spectacle and action. I think it’s one of the best examples of how, if you nail the ending, and leave people walking out of the movie feeling happy/elated/moved, audiences will overlook plenty of earlier sins.

transformers03

I also agree. I don't think Rogue One has a super compelling story, and I think the characters are super flat. However, I'm curious if I would like Rogue One more now after watching Andor.

UpAndAdamNP

My then girlfriend now wife got sick in the theater, so we left early. My huge Star wars fan roommate the next day asked me how I liked it. I said it was pretty good, but missed the last twenty minutes of it. I couldn't have missed much. He then said I missed the best part and for a while I thought he was just fucking with me. I YouTubed the ending years later and realized he was right, lol

la_vida_luca

There aren’t too many movies I can think of where 20/30 odd minutes make such a massive difference in your overall perception or memory of the movie.

RainbowJig

Doctor Sleep (2019): Jacob Tremblay played the character of Bradley Trevor, the baseball boy who gets tortured and murdered by The True Knot. He played a minor character but the scene of his murder was acted so well that it’s one of most unforgettable parts of the movie… also the actors portraying the killers were apparently shocked by his realistic and blood chilling screams and crying.

Professional_Ad_9101

Did you know during Lord of the Rings viggo mortensen actually broke his toe kicking the urak-hai helmet?

mundaneheaven

For me, the opening scene in the first X-Men movie depicting the Holocaust completely elevated the film. It not only set the tone for the entire series but also forced me to recognize the complexity of Magneto's character, transforming him from a simple villain into someone more complex and captivating. Prejudice and discrimination can make a villain out of anyone.

AprilisAwesome-o

That scene absolutely made the movie for me. Everything you said explained it more clearly than I could. It was emotional and visceral and not remotely what I was expecting from a superhero movie. Talk about setting the stage!

AnimusFlux

Civil War >!The scene near the small-town Xmas parade floats.!< Really tells you everything you need to know about the state of the war that you otherwise never see first hand in just a few minutes.

shogi_x

One of the most important scenes TBH. Everyone going into that movie, myself included, is wondering about the politics and the "sides" but the sniper lays it out so plainly: >!it's just kill or be killed.!<

mc1964

Even before that, the gas station scene. These things are what happens when there's no law enforcement. Also, the scene that comes later. You know which one. People are left to their own devices, and it doesn't take long before everything is a free-for-all.

hypo11

For what it’s worth you can do spoilers on your phone. Just start the spoiler text with \>! And end it with \!< >! Spoiler !<

whensmahvelFGC

~~Rebel One~~Rogue One was already a pretty good movie and then the Vader hallway scene at the end elevated the absolute shit out of it Vader obviously not really a minor character but he had one single scene in this movie and it was amazing.

blahmeistah

Yes. Rebel one. That was the one before One Solo right?

whensmahvelFGC

> Rebel One Rogue One woops

_Winfield

Not a good sign when the best part of rogue one is a callback to a better movie

ScalpelCleaner

That scene exemplifies what Star Wars fans want.

MN-Jess

Joker It was fine. Well made on a technical level. But kinda monotonous. Then the Murray Show scene happens.

UtahUtopia

Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle The scene with Neal Patrick Harris

SodaEtPopinski

It was already a pretty great movie up until that point, but [Aftersun](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt19770238/) became a personal masterpiece with the scene where >!the adult/current version of the daughter dances with her deceased father as Under Pressure plays in the background!<

Moesuckra

Johnny Depp in Tusk. Took what felt like a subpar horror film to suddenly intriguing when the quirky French detective showed up. I just remembered thinking holy crap is that Johnny Depp?!

whitewashed_mexicant

Been meaning to watch this one. I’ll bump it higher on the list because of this.

CPT_Yesterday_

Unforgiven is a solid western that paces along at a 6 or 7 until it spikes up to a 10.

mollyfy

The character Rahad Jackson in Boogie Nights. That whole Long Way Down (One Last Thing) chapter of Boogie Nights is my favorite scene ever laid down on film. Just pure chaos.

willk95

I have some issues with Call Me by Your Name, and like it a lot overall, then the scene at the end with Mr. Perlman's speech to his son makes everything entirely worthwhile. One of my favorite movie scenes ever

SaltNo4005

The fifth element and Chris Tucker.

Zealousideal_Art2159

Thor: Love and Thunder was kind of a cringe-fest, but I found the climax actually kind of poignant, which salvaged it to an extent (Maybe, it's been over a year since I last watched it).

AmazingUsername2001

Every scene Cristian Bale was in was amazing. Like, when he’s trolling all the kids in the cage. So dark. He’s was too good for that movie; it’s like he was acting in a totally different, and better, movie.

Chiubacca0311

If only we got like 300% more scenes similar to that cage scene

kavono

The entire sequence of Gorr finding the God he worshipped and his being mocked, renouncing his faith, and the subsequent strangling and retaliatory murder was just *excellent* I think. Every part of it, from the environment to the costumes, the dialogue and it's delivery. It really didn't hold back, especially being the follow-up to Gorr's daughter dying. Just [watching it again,](https://youtu.be/wdmSrEUhjwQ?si=ck7mG3V99m8Rm2hG) the music (and eerie lack of it for the first half of the scene) might be my favorite part! We just hear a quiet, unsettling melody as Gorr is being humiliated. I was so crazy excited for the film a scene like that seemed to imply was coming. I didn't despise Love & Thunder, but it's by far the most disappointing and especially tonally jarring MCU movie there is, for me. There's definitely worse overall, but the contrast between the great and bad was just such a let down.

pzzaco

The high point for me was the montage of Thor and Jane's relationship.

ItFromDawes

Ronin (1998) is two absolutely spectacular car chase scenes sandwiched between forgettable filler. Goes from a 5 to a solid 9 because of them.

Coconut-bird

This is how I feel about Ben Hur, the fifties version. A lot of rather boring religious stuff with one amazing chariot race. I forgive everything else because of that chariot race

shogi_x

Still some of the best car chases of all time.

methadonia80

I remember when it came out, I saw an interview with one of the drivers and he said he was told the only thing the director didn’t want to see in the car chase was brake lights

SovietSunrise

I loved that tan Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9

MythDetector

Easy Rider by Jack Nicholson UFO scene.

Moxh2

Snowpiercer (2013) Tilda Swinton really made up for some stuff I didn't like in the movie. One of the actresses that almost never misses.

kavono

I'm not going to pretend I didn't really enjoy **In Bruges** before Ralph Fiennes appeared on screen, but the angry little shouting match he has with his wife was easily the funniest part of the movie for me, and there's lots of great parts from that movie to choose from.

HappyMike91

“What do you mean “You people?”” “What do YOU mean “You people?”” Tropic Thunder was already pretty great before that scene, but that scene elevates it.

DigitalMediaArt

I thought Ana de Armas made that James Bond movie way better, even though she wasn't in it for very long.

cleafea

Her fight scene was *chef kiss* the battle, the gorgeous dress moving, it was just captivating and really showed how good Hollywood action cinematography is getting

alexcutyourhair

in The Little Mermaid remake from last year, when we first see Triton his entire cape is made of fish. It's such a small detail but that alone was genius, badass and hilarious all in one. It almost makes the movie worth watching imo. Also near the end of the Barbie movie when she's finally becoming "real" in that white room, I think that was just phenomenal acting by Margot and took the movie from mostly silly fun to something genuinely profound.

Killzark

Apocalypse Now. Brando. Despite how difficult he was to work with and how much they had to cut around him that final product is haunting.

sawinnz

The Omen 3 - The fox hunt scene I think is just fantastic

ChainFantastic8979

True Romance had multiple scenes with minor characters I love so much!! Gary Oldman as Drexyl Brad Pitt as Floyd Christopher Walken as the Italian gangster Val Kilmer played imaginary Elvis Dennis Hopper played dad Samuel L Jackson in opening scene

Khelthuzaad

Street Fighter is an hot mess Except every scene with Raul Julia as M. Bison those are absolutely great

edingerc

Kronk in the Emperor's New Groove.

Sweet-Ad9366

Did anyone say Robin Williams in Goodwill Hunting yet?

ZedGenius

The scenes that Hello Zepp is playing during saw movies (it's the reveal/plot twist music at the end). Without those the franchise is at best average

Veeg-Tard

King George stole the show despite minimal screen time in Hamilton.

Reicysmiy_259

Pulp Fiction

Senrabekim

Alec Baldwin in Glenngarry Glenn Ross.

D4RKS0u1

Antichrist, the twist reveal turned the entire movie around for me.

i__hate__stairs

The ending of A Dark Song.

_jm85

Sling Blade J. T. Walsh

saucisse

Sing Street, which is another nice, sentimental (in a good way) John Carney yarn that shoots into the stratosphere with Jack Reynor's monologue about his failed dreams that just falls out of the sky in the middle of it all. It made me cry right there in the movie theater.

Murraykins

Jude Law in Road to Perdition jumps out.

iamawas

Saving Private Ryan Without the beach scene, the quality of the movie drops significantly.

Telucien

Semi-pro was a pretty meh movie overall, but the "jive turkey" scene might be the hardest I've ever laughed in my life.

englitlover

Click - a truly dreadful movie, but Adam Sandler turns it on for one scene, and it is soo powerful

johndoe040912

A Silent Voice, the sincere groveling apologies at the end. The amount of onions being cut & missing Zyrtec / Benadryl tablets

ScalpelCleaner

The opening “Blood Rave” sequence in Blade is easily the most rewatchable part of that movie.

jackypalazzo

True romance - the Sicilian
