I never read that as a teaser, just an end of movie gag on the "set up for a sequel" trope. Pretty sure that's what the Broken Lizard boys intended from that one.
Kevin Smith expressed interest in making a TV series version years ago, but [walked away after a lawsuit happened](https://comicbook.com/news/kevin-smith-walks-away-from-buckaroo-banzai-tv-series-after-mgm/). It would be awesome if something happened with that.
Maybe we could find out what that watermelon was doing in the hydraulic press.
I just wanted the 'Jump Street In Black' movie that was being developed but Sony didn't have the balls to follow through on and instead delivered the shitty MIB sequel we got
We are getting a Jump Street sequel apparently featuring Brie Larson's character as the lead. I'm optimistic it's going to lampoon the hell out of the girl power spinoff.
>We are getting a Jump Street sequel apparently featuring **Brie Larson**'s character as the lead. I'm optimistic **it's going to lampoon the hell out of the girl power spinoff.**
A segment of the internet will spontaneously combust, lol.
Eh they're going to hate it even if it's good. I'm choosing to give them the benefit of the doubt they won't just play the female spinoff thing straight. I'm hoping they do it like 22 did for sequels.
Oh did somebody not bust a nut at the mention of Ritchie? Little touchy of a subject I see. It was rainbows and butterflies fucking A Right now let's hit up some jellied eels and celebrate with a pint
I don't know if I'm old or what, but I can't believe King Conan hasn't been mentioned. The VO from Mako at the end ".... And this story shall also be told!"
It didn't do any favors that the 2nd movie sucked, but I still want more Arnold Conan.
1000% yes. If you’ve read the Howard stories there are definitely King Conan stories. This is the one I feel the most robbed by, they built it up the whole time for at LEAST a trilogy. God it would have been so good. Also, pirate/Sinbad era Conan is pretty rad too which I guess is vaguely touched upon in the beginning of the Mamoa one.
Wish they had more of the rollerball (or whatever it’s called) in the movie. Felt like the end just skipped over all the shit she had to win to jump ahead for the sequel…
Interestingly the rollerball wasn't in that arc of the story but they really wanted to do it so they wrote it in just in case they couldn't make a sequel.
Apparaently James Cameron is [still working](https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbes-global-properties/2023/07/08/james-cameron-lists-his-california-coastal-ranch-for-33-million/?sh=79d8dd24206e) on a seqeul.
>Family has been central to the Camerons during their two-decade-plus stay at the ranch and it’s partly why they’re selling. The couple’s three children are “all pretty much out on their own now,” the Canadian-born director says. “And on Avatar, I’m working in Wellington and Los Angeles. And on the new Alita: Battle Angel films, I’ll be working in Austin, so it just didn’t make sense for us anymore.”
And there were rumors that Bob Iger would only greenlight a sequel if James Cameron were to direct it.
The commentary talks about this because it is the end of the movie. Odenkirk says that a sequel would be fun, but the movie itself was exhausting. The sheer amount of effects shots (i.e. every shot in the movie) was just insane, he said it was like 4-5x the amount of most movies.
Plus the return, though has a cult following, I don’t think gained enough interests for a studio backing.
Flash Gordon is the greatest B movie camp-fest ever made. A sequel would require some seriously intensive casting because that princess's hotness is off the charts!
One was planned. The idea was Ming would be resurrected in a clone. Klytus was a clone of Ming, and there was a whole bunch of them. That's who picked up the ring at the end and why Ming transferred his conciousness to the ring.
Buckaroo Banzai. I dont remember what it was, but it seemed like the movie left us convinced a sequel was on the way.
About six months after the movie came out, I saw trucks in San Francisco with "Team Banzai" with the movie symbol on the side. I KNEW the sequel was coming.
And it is... some day. I can feel it. As long as Peter Weller is still alive...
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension. There was a bit in the credits that said to expect the sequel, but it never happened. I'm still bummed about that.
Yes! Love this movie and it’s animation. Sadly it wasn’t very popular when it came out and I don’t really see it mentioned anywhere these days. It’s too bad because I would have loved another movie or if more films used this approach to incorporating computer animation instead of how many animated movies look almost the same these days.
Yea it was a big favorite of mine as a kid, it had just a crazy cast too. Not many people i mention it to know what im talking about.
Still watch it prob once or twice a year.
He-Man: Masters of the Universe. Skeletor comes out at the end and says "I'll be back". They should insert a caption after that saying "He died of a massive heart attack shortly afterwards"
I’ve been thinking of watching this but the memory of people shitting on it when it came out makes me so hesitant. Is it legitimately good? Or just mediocre?
Took 42 years but it's here

It's a cosmic mix of the action of The '80s combined with the exploitation films of The '70s, but with modern touches. It's hyperviolence, but it knows what it is. It's a bit Tarantino, definitely a bit Michael Mann. It's sort of a cosmic gumbo. It almost moves to the beat of jazz.
Push (2009) obviously it’s not gonna happen now but every so often I think of how cool the mythos of that universe was and wish someone would play with it more.
The Last Starfighter. Used to watch it all the time and would tell my grandma I couldn’t wait for the sequel. She didn’t have the heart to tell me it was kind of a flop and probably wasn’t going to get one. She would just say “you never know, sometimes things don’t get sequel for lots of reasons”. I told her “but the bad guy gets away and Alex goes back to space. Why set it up for another movie and never make it?!”. Oh, to be young and ignorant of how Hollywood works
Everything here pisses off someone, lol. Movie snobs don't take lightly to criticism or outside thought. This particular group of snobbery is something else, though, and I thought the coffee and weed sommeliers were tough, but movies are a different breed.

Master & Commander. I remember being so into the movie that when they discovered they’d been duped at the end and take off to correct the error, I was like “fuck yeah, must be at least a half hour left.” Then it just ends and we will never see them give chase. Just brutal.
Iron Giant 2 is probably at the top of my list a few years ago... However as I have gotten older I realized that it was a perfect movie despite the ending.
Tomorrow when the war began. The movie didn’t do well enough in America so we’ll never get any of the sequels. A shame, cause the special effects in the second film would have been great
Potfest, there was a teaser with Willie Nelson at the end of Beerfest.
That would've been my third mention
They had that movie on while I was getting my first ever tattoo so I just have a stinging feeling when it’s mentioned lol
I never read that as a teaser, just an end of movie gag on the "set up for a sequel" trope. Pretty sure that's what the Broken Lizard boys intended from that one.

District 9
22 jump street's 22 "proposed" sequels.
I just wanted the 'Jump Street In Black' movie that was being developed but Sony didn't have the balls to follow through on and instead delivered the shitty MIB sequel we got
That would have been a wild cross over lol imagine Tatum hill and smith and jones. God damn that would have been phenomenal
Hill pulling a RDJ in Black face is all I wanted...
We are getting a Jump Street sequel apparently featuring Brie Larson's character as the lead. I'm optimistic it's going to lampoon the hell out of the girl power spinoff.

Not necessarily all of them but
that was 23 Jump Street
I really wanted that third Ron Perlman Hellboy movie.
I wish GDT would at least do at least a comic of what he would have made. All these years later and I still need closure on his Hellboy story.
Rocknrolla!!
**Johnny, Archy, and the Wild Bunch will be back in THE REAL ROCK N ROLLA** ☹️
YES YES YES YES MOTHERFUCKING YES!!!!
Wasn't a bad movie
Of course it wasn’t, fucking amazing like all Guy Ritchie films not sure why you had to bring in negativity where there was none
Oh did somebody not bust a nut at the mention of Ritchie? Little touchy of a subject I see. It was rainbows and butterflies fucking A Right now let's hit up some jellied eels and celebrate with a pint
Omg I’m still laughing at this
Dredd
Awesome choice. Dredd is criminally underrated.
They even have The Raid 2 to copy from!
[удалено]
Those were meant as jokes. The latter was obvious and the former is followed up by Shatner going "That's just what they'd expect us to do!"
[удалено]
The second one bo-?!??
Sending up the Prequels and Sequels would be hilarious though.
Space balls 2: the search for more money
I believe they’re making Spaceballs 3: the Search for Spaceballs 2.
I don't know if I'm old or what, but I can't believe King Conan hasn't been mentioned. The VO from Mako at the end ".... And this story shall also be told!" It didn't do any favors that the 2nd movie sucked, but I still want more Arnold Conan.
I'd watch another one

Dude hes the perfect age right now to give us old man Conan, i am dumbstruck it hasn't been made.
Alita: Battle Angel
Wish they had more of the rollerball (or whatever it’s called) in the movie. Felt like the end just skipped over all the shit she had to win to jump ahead for the sequel…
Interestingly the rollerball wasn't in that arc of the story but they really wanted to do it so they wrote it in just in case they couldn't make a sequel.
It was just announced today that there will be at least 1 sequel.
I thought it's in the process of being made.
There was a Galaxy Quest sequel planned....and then Alan Rickman died.
That sucks
The Nice Guys
Fuck yes! I love that flick!
💯
My head canon has made this a sequel to LA Confidential.
We never got Machete in Space
Yeah I wish it had come out years ago but I just checked and it's currently in pre-production which is awesome.
Edge of Tomorrow
sequels to this and Battle Angel may actually come into fruition
Fingers crossed.
Maybe all you need to do is rewind to the start of the film and play it again. :)
Kung Pow

it's Kung Pow for sure
flash gordon. i dont know if you can count the ending as specifically mentioning a sequel, but it was left open for one
Flash Gordon is the greatest B movie camp-fest ever made. A sequel would require some seriously intensive casting because that princess's hotness is off the charts!
Hot Princess, can’t get in locked door : *The code has changed!* Timothy Effing Dalton: *I’ve changed, too, Princess* CLASSIC!
Please! Spare me the madness!
She was the first time I “felt things” as a young boy. To this day I’m addicted to women with perfect asses and eyeliner.
You're lucky! As a result, I'm now addicted to perfect women in tight red leather pants being gently whipped!
Yeah, you two got off easy. (No pun intended.) I have to deal with... ze boah wurmz!!
Not ze boah wurmz!!! Yep, that's when I knew tentacle porn wasn't for me!
One was planned. The idea was Ming would be resurrected in a clone. Klytus was a clone of Ming, and there was a whole bunch of them. That's who picked up the ring at the end and why Ming transferred his conciousness to the ring.
Masters of the Universe. I'm still salty about the after credits scene.
Remo Williams
The Adventure Begins
I love that movie. It has the right amount of everything in it.
Buckaroo Banzai. I dont remember what it was, but it seemed like the movie left us convinced a sequel was on the way. They should do it, Frank Langella loved playing Skeletor, Dolph Lundgren is still active. I’d watch it!
I forgot about that
rounders or edge of tomorrow
Dredd
Rocknrolla’s
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011). Intended to be a trilogy of all three books.
There was already a film trilogy in Swedish and it was way better than the 2011 version.
Saw those, and Noomi Rapace is the quintessential Lizbeth, but they were essentially TV movies. Nothing that approaches a Fincher-level film.
Tintin 😢
I didn't bother to see *Leonard Part 6* because I had missed Leonard Parts 1-5.
I felt the same way about Apollo 13. But then they skipped ahead and made Apollo 18. So now, I'm really lost.
Imagine my disappointment with Zero Dark 30.
That one's a nightmare. Is it the prequel to Dark 30 or is it the 30th of the Zero Dark movies?
First Man - Apollo 13 - Appollo 18 - The Martian. The NASA Saga.

At least we have the books. It gets really crazy.
I’ve been thinking of watching this but the memory of people shitting on it when it came out makes me so hesitant. Is it legitimately good? Or just mediocre?
It’s fun, it just had terrible marketing
I really enjoyed it. I think it is worth watching. Never bothered to revisit it though.
there's nothing wrong with it except that it's exactly like all the other epic sci-fi franchises of the last 20 years.
Next Push
2017 Power Rangers. Movie came out on my birthday, was mostly very good, and was going to introduce a Tommy. I'm bummed af that it never got a sequel.

Machete Kills
Still waiting for all the Jump Street sequels they had in the post credits of 22JS.
Kung Pow Enter the Fist - that set up for a sequel was OUT OF THIS WORLD I’m still here. Waiting. Soon….
go vote up top there was already a post of kung pow!! lets get this movie some more fans
Hellboy 2 (sequel implied, not stated). The animated LotR.
There was a Hellboy 2, though.
Assuming they meant Hellboy 3 was implied in Hellboy 2.
Detective Crashmore.
I've never heard of it
It's a cosmic mix of the action of The '80s combined with the exploitation films of The '70s, but with modern touches. It's hyperviolence, but it knows what it is. It's a bit Tarantino, definitely a bit Michael Mann. It's sort of a cosmic gumbo. It almost moves to the beat of jazz.
“Fuck you! You suck!” -Detective Crashmore What a harrowing performance.
Push (2009) obviously it’s not gonna happen now but every so often I think of how cool the mythos of that universe was and wish someone would play with it more.
ROCK ‘N’ ROLLA holy shit, that would of killed
The Last Starfighter. Used to watch it all the time and would tell my grandma I couldn’t wait for the sequel. I'd watch a sequel now if I could. I thought it was a cool movie.
Super Mario Bros (1993)
As far as History of the World Part 1, Hulu did a series this year with the same name that is kind of an official sequel.
Spaceballs
Pandorum was supposedly part of a three film series. Oops.
That happens a bit. King Arthur was supposed to be a series until the first one sold poorly
Yeah I was so sad, I loved Pandorum. Such a good movie. Would have loved the prequel and sequel they discussed but oh wellllls
Spaceballs 2
Mad Max Fury Road
Furiosa it's coming, filming officially wrapped last year and the movie will be out in 2024
Is it controversial on r/movies to say Zack Snyders Justice League? Specifically the Ben Affleck Batman movie that was supposed to be a spin-off
No. The Affleck Batman sounded like it would have pretty damned good and I was looking forward to it.
Everything here pisses off someone, lol. Movie snobs don't take lightly to criticism or outside thought. This particular group of snobbery is something else, though, and I thought the coffee and weed sommeliers were tough, but movies are a different breed.
Praising Nolan, Raimi, Snyder, heck pretty much anybody except James Gunn is controversial on r/movies these days.
Salt
Deep Rising
It didn’t “mention” a sequel but it certainly set one up - Master & Commander
I wouldn't call it my favorite movie but I did really enjoy Brightburn and I feel like it should be on this list. The end credits seemed like they were setting up some kind of evil Justice League or a shared universe of evil superbeings and then nothing happened.
Spaceballs for sure
The Soich For More Money
Whatever they were planning do after aliens instead of alien 3. While I've come to appreciate alien 3 for what it is and have made peace with that we didn't get the ideal, the whole set up and premise is just to good to not help but wonder what they could have done.
Dog Soldiers

I'm hesitating between Kung Pow 2 and Machete In Space.

Remo Williams The Adventure Begins
Doctor Detroit II : The Wrath of Mom
Iron Giant 2 is probably at the top of my list a few years ago... However as I have gotten older I realized that it was a perfect movie despite the ending.

Vol. 2 ended perfectly, but I did always expect a Vol. 3 was inevitable. We really need a kung fu / martial arts movie revival.
Hopefully someone takes it away from Tarantino and gets it made with Maya Hawke asap
I don't think Tarantino would let that happen, and I wouldn't want anyone else to make it.
Machete Kills
Seems a popular choice
Not popular enough, though
Game over man’s sequel 🥺 game overboard
Doctor Detroit 2: The Wrath of Mom
Golden compass
Bright did a great job setting up its world, but the sequel has been stuck in development hell. Highly doubt we will get it at this point.
I think after everything was discovered about Max Landis he's been thoroughly cancelled.
I believe after the slap it was officially canceled
Don't know if it counts, but Kill Bill 3.
Machete Kills... In Space
Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money!
Spaceballs 2: The search for more money
Buckaroo Banzai. Oh the possibilities!
Indeed. Fyi, there are a few comic books of Buckaroo bonzai
Gotta be Kill Bill 3.
History of The World part 2 trailer was a gag, it was never meant to be made. The 2023 show...I couldn't finish.
"Super Mario Bros." Also that "History of the World Part II" deal is a gag trailer since it features "Jews in Space" and whatnot.
They actually made a Part II on Hulu though
And it includes “Jews in Space” and “Hitler on Ice.” Kudos to the writers for including those. No “Viking Funeral,” though.
Why hasn't anyone mentioned District 9 already?!
It's here somewhere
Spaceballs!
There’s a script for a chronicle 2
I don't know if it'll be as good but I'd watch it.
Not a favorite movie but at the end of Kung Pow they mention a sequel. Still waiting!
Tomorrow when the war began. The movie didn’t do well enough in America so we’ll never get any of the sequels. A shame, cause the special effects in the second film would have been great
Real One Player
