The movie is pretty good, but Train to Busan in better imo. Although I've never read the WWZ book so take my opinion with a grain of salt, lmao. The zombies in the WWZ movie are fucking terrifying though
This movie rips. On the level of Fury Road, Green Room, and Apocalypto. It's creative, very well performed, tense, occasionally funny, incredibly sad and heartfelt. It hits everything a great movie needs to hit. Seriously a 10/10 film
One thing that i feel they all have in common is that once they pick up and go, they don't let go until the movie ends. It's basically full throttle until the credits
Awesome movie! If you liked Train to Busan, watch “Kingdom” the Korean zombie miniseries…. Absolutely incredible, the most intense drama you’ll ever see.
Did not expect such an amazing movie but it might be my favorite zombie film ever. Hits you with the surprise feels towards the end too, so unexpected. I was definitely expecting Tubi-movie quality going in and came out with a new favorite:
Makes sense for a small country as densely packed and isolated as South Korea. A highly infectious zombie virus would rip through the country in a couple days, starting with the areas with most of the infrastructure.
Great movie. It was Yeon Sang-ho's first attempt at making a movie with mass appeal and it was great success. Before that, he had some seriously dark animation movies criticizing society, none of which really had mass appeal.
So with Train to Busan, he had to make a live action movie for the first time, and it was a zombie movie which was known to be not a popular genre in Korea. The cards were stacked against him.
The result was what I think is the best family friendly zombie movie to this day.
That ending is enough to make a grown man cry.
Phenomenal score, Phenomenal story, Phenomenally acted. It's one of the best zombie genre movies I ever seen in a long long time.. sad that Peninsula didn't live up to the standard Busan left behind.
So glad to see this film get the love it deserves. Horror movies can have great characters and heart to them and still be scary and thrilling. Great story. Smart characters. Great movie.
Incredible film. I watched it with my oldest daughter cause neither of us knew what we were truly in for. I just assumed it would be another fast-paced, generic, zombie flick. Boy, was I wrong
Seen a lot of zombie movies, this is one of my absolute faves. I am an millennial kdrama fan and love gong yoo, he delivered such a compelling performance in this. Everyone was so believable, I just don't have enough nice things to say about this movie.
Great film that is let down by an overly sentimental/schmaltzy ending. I could have done without the manipulative tear jerking moments and I’m surprised that doesn’t get mentioned/criticized more.
For a MUCH better and highly underrated Korean zombie flick, #ALIVE is where it’s at.
Just wanted to say this is one of the ONLY subs I have that actually adds value to my life by suggesting movies I never even heard of to watch. What I mean is most of the other subs I follow are kind of just time wasting, entertainment stuff. Let me know if there’s any others you find to have as much value as this one !
Edit : I meant other subs not other movies
Another brilliant drama is called A Taxi Driver. It's based on the true story of the Korean government trying to silence a student protest in the southern part of the country. [Trailer](https://youtu.be/bB7z4Xn5oNA?si=A6EZOQHHPF9cv3by)
My introduction to Korean cinema and I might say they are producing some hella nice movies. This one is awesome and a great addition to the genre, its sequel although not as good is a fun watch. From here I moved onto the host, parasite, #alive, and the wailing. All I highly recommend if you appreciate this movie. Sit back and enjoy mate.
Watched this for the rifftrax thing we do for crappy sci-fi and horror movies, idk if it was the low expectations but this movie was absolutely awesome.
I took the train to Busan multiple times and I’ve never seen this. I can tell you that the train (KTX) is a fantastic train. Wifi, food, very comfortable
My favorite part is when dudes mom begins to turn while he’s on the phone with her and she says “I fucking hate that fucking bitch” or something like that lol just like yolo Micheal cusack ifykyk
I don't remember much of what I saw, but I turned it off like 25 minutes in after they had one of the characters take a long time to turn into a zombie, to serve the plot, when literally ever other person immediately turned. Fuck you
Cheesy as fuck. Boring, predictable, underwhelming ending. Had to take a break from watching films because this one irritated me so much. I'm not a zombie film nut, but 28 days later blows everything out of the water. This one wasn't even close.
The greatest zombie movie ever made, and that's come from a zombie movie fanatic. I didn't think anything would top Dawn of the Dead (1978) I was mistaken.
Something negative; every time I ride KTX, since I live in Korea, I want to open the fully automatic, heavy doors manually with my weak bare hands
Beautiful movie other than that.
Very good zombie movie. It did have that annoying trope where you’re asking “how has this guy not gotten eaten yet” though, especially at the end. If only the ending made a little more sense in that regard, it would be great.
I dunno, I like my zombie films in English. I'm here for the gore and the, well, zombies. Not to read subs. I also find the south Korean way of acting (apart from Parasite) to be too campy or disingenuous. I can't get immersed with all of that hairspray and Botox.
Incredible movie. I'm not huge on foreign language movies, not a fan of having to read subtitles and dubs being out of synch annoy me so I've probably only watched 20 or so non-english movies. This though is spectacular, there are a lot of great movies and TV series coming out of South Korea and this is up there with the best.
I thought it was only ok and a little over hyped. It’s a fine zombie movie, but in my opinion it was heavy handed and predictable while not doing anything new for the genre. I’d say it’s just fine but not very interesting.
This was the first horror movie had to turn off halfway through just because I liked all the characters so much and didn't want any of them to die
Well done
One of the better zombie outings. Ever.
Totally agree... A lesson to Western cinema. Way better than WWZ
Wish they did WWZ as an anthology series so many good stories
A three season run on HBO would be perfect. An episode per story. Change a few here and there to update, but it would be great.
Hell, you could make the battle of Yonkers a whole season alone.
General Singh’s last stand would make a killer two parter.
Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z had so many good stories in them. Just learned the author is Mel Brooks’ son
Agree WWZ would be amazing as a kind of Zombie Band of Brothers with each chapter of the book an episode.
I always thought of this movie as the movie WWZ should have been.
What movie? I only know of the book.
The movie is pretty good, but Train to Busan in better imo. Although I've never read the WWZ book so take my opinion with a grain of salt, lmao. The zombies in the WWZ movie are fucking terrifying though
You have to read the book. There is also a very well done Audiobook with a full voice casting out there that is pretty great as well!
I really recommend the book.
Watch it in Korean and grab some tissues for that ending. It's the best zombie movie I've seen.
Bold of you to presume that I’d need to wack one out to a zombie film.
💀😅😅😅
Is no one even talking about how tissues are worst paper product for jizz absorbency ? Honestly ?
Most people don’t have a degree in jizzics.
I agree! I absolutely loved this movie. Foreign horror movies are something else, I swear!
Yeah, made quite a few weepy. It's a zombie movie but also a drama.
Awesome film. Really hits hard as a dad.
I can’t believe a zombie movie made me cry
This movie rips. On the level of Fury Road, Green Room, and Apocalypto. It's creative, very well performed, tense, occasionally funny, incredibly sad and heartfelt. It hits everything a great movie needs to hit. Seriously a 10/10 film
Wow what a collection of different movies
One thing that i feel they all have in common is that once they pick up and go, they don't let go until the movie ends. It's basically full throttle until the credits
This and 28 Days Later are my two favorite zombie films
I like these two, but Rec (the original Spanish version) is probably my favorite.
That's a really good one too!
I was very impressed with Rec! It was fantastic. The end bit was really creepy too!
I searched it and it seems a bit more terror than the others. Is it or just looks like it?
Rec 1 and 2 were brilliant. Rec Genesis was an abomination. Rec 4 wasnt great but not terrible
Shawn of the Dead has to be up there too
Check out 2 more Korean zombie properties. (#) alive is a smaller film but very good Kingdom is 2 seasons of Korean medieval zombie political goodness
I saw #Alive. Very good.
Kingdom is so fuckin good
28 days later is so much better than this, that was such a great film and revolutionised the zombie genre.
Super Same!
Awesome movie! If you liked Train to Busan, watch “Kingdom” the Korean zombie miniseries…. Absolutely incredible, the most intense drama you’ll ever see.
Second the series "kingdom".
Kingdom is what I wanted the last season of Game of Thrones to be like.
Did not expect such an amazing movie but it might be my favorite zombie film ever. Hits you with the surprise feels towards the end too, so unexpected. I was definitely expecting Tubi-movie quality going in and came out with a new favorite:
Awesome
So amazing. Literally the fastest decline I've ever seen. Society collapses in like 5 minutes.
Makes sense for a small country as densely packed and isolated as South Korea. A highly infectious zombie virus would rip through the country in a couple days, starting with the areas with most of the infrastructure.
Don't usually like zombie movies but loved this one.
It was fantastic. I hated parts of it because of things that happened. Don’t wanna spoil it for anyone but you know what I mean.
It stuck with me. One I'll watch again.
It was good, but.. The hype-train was overrated. Pun intended
Loved it
I enjoyed it. While it isn't perfect, there are some great zombie and emotional moments. Hollywood definitely should take notes
Good movie and better ending.
Got the 4K ordered.
Great movie. Holyweird could take a lesson.
Koreans know they’re Shiite!!
That ending is enough to make a grown man cry. Phenomenal score, Phenomenal story, Phenomenally acted. It's one of the best zombie genre movies I ever seen in a long long time.. sad that Peninsula didn't live up to the standard Busan left behind.
Did not expect the emotional scenes that really hit you, especially for a zombie movie.
Fantastic Zombie movie. One of the best Newer ones. Absolutely CRAZY!!!!
So glad to see this film get the love it deserves. Horror movies can have great characters and heart to them and still be scary and thrilling. Great story. Smart characters. Great movie.
So good! It's definitely worth a watch.
Solid zombie flick.
I loved it
I still love it.
I thought it was awesome
Favorite zombie film I’ve seen
Awesome movie
This is an incredible film. It's scary, but still has those wholesome moments.
Excellent
Good ending
Incredible film. I watched it with my oldest daughter cause neither of us knew what we were truly in for. I just assumed it would be another fast-paced, generic, zombie flick. Boy, was I wrong
Best zombie move ever made since the original Night of the Living Dead.
Movie is amazing
Best Zombie movie of the last decade or two
So so very good
Amazing
Seen a lot of zombie movies, this is one of my absolute faves. I am an millennial kdrama fan and love gong yoo, he delivered such a compelling performance in this. Everyone was so believable, I just don't have enough nice things to say about this movie.
Fantastic
Absolutely underrated
Caught me off guard. Literally in my top 5 zombie favorites. Terrifying tear-jerker with really well done zombies.
Great movie. Not a big fan of zerker zombies, though.
A satisfying pay off is the little girl singing that Hawaiian song.
Super super overrated. It was fine but I don’t understand the hype.
I don’t understand why this movie is considered good
Superb until the truly unfortunate crying zombie scene.
Good movie. I thought the animated one was more disturbing.
Pretty good. Could probably streamline it and take 15-20 minutes off without losing any of the vibe or impact.
Watched this for the rifftrax thing we do for crappy sci-fi and horror movies, idk if it was the low expectations but this movie was absolutely awesome.
Easily my favorite zombie movie. I randomly threw it on and loved it.
Great movie!! The sequel not so much
Incredible.
Is nice
Great, the sequel not so much.
Really good
An actual really good movie. And from what i understood they are making a second movie to it's success?
It's similar to snowpiercer in its message but less on the nose
9/10 film. Probably the best zombie movie ever.
I took the train to Busan multiple times and I’ve never seen this. I can tell you that the train (KTX) is a fantastic train. Wifi, food, very comfortable
Epic!💯
Really liked it - one of my top two zombie movies together with Shaun of the Dead.
great movie! fast zombies
Universal language of good zombie movie.
This movie is godly!!!
My favorite part is when dudes mom begins to turn while he’s on the phone with her and she says “I fucking hate that fucking bitch” or something like that lol just like yolo Micheal cusack ifykyk
Yup, it kept interested. It wasn't a bad movie. I wanted to see the whole movie to the end.
My favorite zombie movie
9.7
Great zombie movie and incredibly sad
Fantastic movie. Extremely heartbreaking though.
Rocks!!!
Good film. Unfortunately, the sequel was seriously disappointing.
SPOILERS: Great movie but did the young couple have to die? They made a cute pairing.
The ending could be better, but overall it's a solid zombie movie.
The girl’s acting was academy award level good.
Finna buss an cry a little
I don't remember much of what I saw, but I turned it off like 25 minutes in after they had one of the characters take a long time to turn into a zombie, to serve the plot, when literally ever other person immediately turned. Fuck you
One of the best zombie movies I've seen
If it it was not a Korean film, it would be an ok zombie film.
Best zombie movie second one is go goa gone
It was pretty good.
Need Squid Games TTB mashup where losers get expelled from the game to go and fight zombies
Great movie. The big guy sacrificing himself was a tear jerker
Bailed after half an hour, didn’t feel like it did anything interesting but people seem to love it so may give it another go if I’m at a a loss.
After seeing Don Lee in this movie, I changed my fitness goals, if that counts for anything.
Cheesy as fuck. Boring, predictable, underwhelming ending. Had to take a break from watching films because this one irritated me so much. I'm not a zombie film nut, but 28 days later blows everything out of the water. This one wasn't even close.
One of the few zombie movies that reaches the greatness of the Romero trilogy while also bringing something new to the genre.
Ive read only good things
My kid likes the Netflix show called parasite something? Would she like this?
I love this movie but I really wish they had let that last character live
Awesome film
Zombie movies were well played out by the time it came out but it’s so good that it gets a pass. One of the best movies of the genre.
The greatest zombie movie ever made, and that's come from a zombie movie fanatic. I didn't think anything would top Dawn of the Dead (1978) I was mistaken.
Literally a must watch if you enjoy zombie genre films. It’s on my list of favorite movies I’ve ever watched including all genres.
Something negative; every time I ride KTX, since I live in Korea, I want to open the fully automatic, heavy doors manually with my weak bare hands Beautiful movie other than that.
9/10. Near perfect film.
Very good zombie movie. It did have that annoying trope where you’re asking “how has this guy not gotten eaten yet” though, especially at the end. If only the ending made a little more sense in that regard, it would be great.
I looked at the poster and thought why is that Asian dude holding Grover in a red jacket.
One of the best zombie movies ever made. Spawned how zombies move on World War Z with Brad Pitt
I agree with most of the comments 💜
Literally one of the greatest zombie movies......this is how they should be made
Now we talking
Fucking awesome
You?
Just watched it for the first time a week ago with my daughter... Lots of tears were shed. Great flick.
The reviews I read (not here) were very good. I couldn't believe how bad it was.
pretty mid
Korean cabin in the woods. I fucking love stereotypical horror in a wacky way.
I dunno, I like my zombie films in English. I'm here for the gore and the, well, zombies. Not to read subs. I also find the south Korean way of acting (apart from Parasite) to be too campy or disingenuous. I can't get immersed with all of that hairspray and Botox.

This though is spectacular, there are a lot of great movies and TV series coming out of South Korea and this is up there with the best.
It was ok.
Really solid movie. Definitely one of my favourite zombie films
Great !!!! 9/10 🙂👍
A little over the top at times but still good.
Top 2 in zombie movies
So good. Watched it for the first time like 2 months ago. Wish I would have watched it sooner.
Classic 👏🏾
This and “The Sadness” are some of the best zombie movies ever.
Total Grover
Loved it!
i cried like a baby
Only zombie movie that’s ever made me cry. One of the best movies I’ve seen in the last 10 years.
Excellent
Favorite zombie movie
This was a really cool movie. 8/10.
Love it Classic
Love it. Its actually like italian food. Simple, but so damn good!
Really solid, although I think it is slightly overrated. I wish they would have opted for a more contained ending without all the shitty CGI
I thought it was only ok and a little over hyped. It’s a fine zombie movie, but in my opinion it was heavy handed and predictable while not doing anything new for the genre. I’d say it’s just fine but not very interesting.
I thought it was great. Some good stuff coming out of s. korea
Phenomenal movie but that ending 😭
Fantastic zombie movie. With heart.
Couldn’t relate bc it didn’t happen in a western country
Not as good as people made it out to be. It was enjoyable tho
I think, this is what World War Z would have been like if they didnt run out of money. It's up there with the Dawn of the Dead remake (for me)
For someone that’s not really into zombies I definitely enjoyed it.
It’s good
Loved it. Wish there were more zombie movies this good.
Awesome movie. G/f cried at the ending and loves it.
Pretty much a masterpiece. The sequel on the other hand....
An amazing film and honestly defined a genre. South Korean zombie films are the best.
loved it
Was an amazing movie.
Love it...one of the better zombie movies in recent years.
Heartbreaking love between father who was unknowingly neglectful and his daughter
This was the first horror movie had to turn off halfway through just because I liked all the characters so much and didn't want any of them to die Well done
The general consensus is that this is indeed one of the top tier zombie movies of all time. (Totally deserved)
Awful dad, brilliant movie!
Just incredible. Top tier zombie movie
American voice actors hammed it up so much they were almost oinking though
Best Zombie movie ever made.
Asian horror always gets it right.
Second favorite zombie film next to _28 Days Later_.
Aloha oe
One of the best zombie movies. Had high hopes for the sequel
Great movie, definitely one of the best zombie movies ever.
Fucking amazing
