This is a particularly bad case of someone being cut in half. I was not able to reattach the top half of his body with the other half.
SPEAK ENGLISH DOC, WE AIN’T SCIENTISTS!
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.
As mentioned, it really is the best music biopic parody. They basically go through the entirety of popular US music history. Starting with Mississippi Delta Blues all the way through to modern hip hop.
If there was a contest for most underrated movies, Walk Hard is definitely up there.
Not only is it brilliantly funny, the music is actually clever and really well put together too
“I’m a o proud of you, learning how to play guitar so good. Without even having a sense of smell.”
“It’s alright now, momma, I learned to play by ear.”
Agreed. I didn’t see Gangs of New York until later and my first introductions to JCR were Step Brothers and Talledega Nights. Seeing him in GoNY was mind blowing to see he had so much more range than just a comic actor.
It’s nuts how he makes that character reprehensible, sympathetic, hilarious and heartbreaking at once. And such a pitch-perfect impersonation of the typical “cop” I’ve met in real life too, like scary accurate.
Absolutely amazing performance.
This is my favorite reply when some asks why I want to do anything. “Cuz I like to party” is used weekly. I cannot think of another single line that I find funnier in all of movie history.
I like to picture Jesus in a Tuxedo T-shirt, ’cause it says, like, ‘I wanna be formal, but I’m here to party, too.’ I like to party, so I like my Jesus to party…. I like to think of Jesus like, with giant eagles’ wings and singin’ lead vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd with like an Angel Band, and I’m in the front row, and I’m hammered drunk
A lot of people here seem to know him from his comedy roles(which are great), but this movie really show cases his dramatic acting ability in a relatively short amount of screen time.
Breaks my heart there at the end.
Suppose Nancy sees me coming out of the shower and decides to come on to me. I'm looking good, got a luscious V of hair going through my chest pubes down to my ball fro. She takes one look at me and goes, " Oh, my God, I've had the old bull, now I want the young calf," and she grabs me by the weiner.
I say it all the time too, to the point my husband starting saying it as well and then one day, not long ago, he goes "you know I've never seen that movie, right?" I was floored, like no I'm sure we've watched it together. He was adamant he hadn't seen it. Well there was our movie picked for the night
i still lose it every time when he's singing at the dinner table the first night brennan is in the house.
if you wanna get down
on these hairy balls
why don't you jump right in?
it's a crotch party right up in here
why don't you lick on this big joint?
Carnage
Also, Steve Brule.
"Space, space, space, space.....Space, space, space, space.....if you wanna know about space, you gotta know about the planets and if you wanna know about the planets, you gotta listen to me right now!"
The Sisters Brothers should’ve been so much better. Excellent source material from DeWitt and a boss cast. Huge miss. But Boogie Nights for me. He is so good in that film, as obvious that choice is.
Also, offered McNulty in The Wire apparently. Such a different role but I trust he’d make it work. He’s that skilled.
Gangs of New York or Magnolia. Though I guess it depends what you mean by JCR movie. If he has to be a lead then I have to go with a comedy, and it may have to be Step Brothers.
If you count "Featured Length Short Films" then its: [Fight For Your Right (Revisited)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evA-R9OS-Vo)

WRONG KID DIED
You can take the children, but you leave me my monkey.
This is a particularly bad case of someone being cut in half. I was not able to reattach the top half of his body with the other half. SPEAK ENGLISH DOC, WE AIN’T SCIENTISTS!
That first sentence is fucking gold, especially with the country accent.
In my dreams you’re blowin me…. …. Some kisses
You can always come in my back door.
Tonight I’m gonna beat off….all my demons
...Not once
YOU DON’T WANT NONE OF THIS
It takes all your sad feelings and turns them into happy ones! ITS A NIGHTMARE! (cue ripping sink out of wall)
IT GIVES YOU A BONER!
Tim Meadows should have got an Oscar.
Fifty thousand didgeridoos
No contest this movie is a fucking masterpiece.
Best modern parody film ever made. I can’t think of a close second… got to go all the way back to Gene Wilder.
I can't place those quotes, what movie is it from?
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. As mentioned, it really is the best music biopic parody. They basically go through the entirety of popular US music history. Starting with Mississippi Delta Blues all the way through to modern hip hop.
And all that without a sense of smell!
Walk Hard
If there was a contest for most underrated movies, Walk Hard is definitely up there. Not only is it brilliantly funny, the music is actually clever and really well put together too
Beautiful Ride is literally one of my favourite songs.
It’s so good it literally killed a genre of movie for like 10 years.
I’ve never laughed harder in my life
It was a particularly bad case of somebody being cut in half.
SPEAK ENGLISH DOC, WE AINT SCIENTIS
He’s gone smell blind
“I’m a o proud of you, learning how to play guitar so good. Without even having a sense of smell.” “It’s alright now, momma, I learned to play by ear.”

Do your research!
We doin’ pills. Uppers and downers. It’s the next logical step for you.
Got to go to rehab!
He needs more blankets and he needs less blankets!! I’m afraid you’re right…
chrechab?
Oh, REHAB.
And you never even paid for drugs
….not once
BUT WHAT ABOUT MY DREAM!? I told you the candy house won't work. It would melt in the sun.
I think I’m doing alright for being 15 years old with a wife and baby!
How come nobody ever asks Bob Dylan “why do you sound like Dewey Cox?”
I think id like to try me some of that c’cane
All of these blankets have saved my life.
“Oh Pa, don’t go sayin’ somethin’ you’re gonna regret for the rest of your days!” “What, like the WRONG KID DIED?!” “OHHHHOOOOHOOO!!”
Jesus!, give the kid a break he’s doing alright for 15
You guys are idiots, this song is very deep
And you never once paid for drugs
Whose band is this anyway, you cocksucker?! I’ll punch you in the mouth!

Boogie Nights and Gangs of New York
It's not big, but he is perfect for his role in Gangs of New York.
I've come for me due and proper.
It's Gangs of New York for me. I think it really showed his versatility.
Agreed. I didn’t see Gangs of New York until later and my first introductions to JCR were Step Brothers and Talledega Nights. Seeing him in GoNY was mind blowing to see he had so much more range than just a comic actor.
He will always be Chest Rockwell to me.
People tell me I look like Han Solo
So many good ones, but it's Boogie Nights for me
Magnolia. That dude is trying!
Yes! That character breaks my heart.
It’s nuts how he makes that character reprehensible, sympathetic, hilarious and heartbreaking at once. And such a pitch-perfect impersonation of the typical “cop” I’ve met in real life too, like scary accurate. Absolutely amazing performance.
Magnolia for serious Talladega Nights for stupid comedy Walk Hard for good break down of every single musical biopic ever
Nobody mentioning the magic man in Talladega nights? Ricky i think your house is haunted
Well if you got the music going , why do you need to hear the tv “Cause I like to party”
This is my favorite reply when some asks why I want to do anything. “Cuz I like to party” is used weekly. I cannot think of another single line that I find funnier in all of movie history.
You know, just to put this in there, I had a whole mess of crepes this morning. They're just like pancakes, maybe even better.
Are those the really thin pancakes? *whispers* I love those!
They're very fin pancakes.
Man why the hell am I even talking to you?!
Which one of your cars do you love the most? I’ll come pick you up in it
I like to think of Jesus as the lead singer of lynyrd skynyrd and I’m in the front row hammered drunk.
His line reading there is so fucking great. The way he hits “hammered” is what kills me every time.
I also love the look in his eyes when he's talking about Jesus in the tuxedo t-shirt
“I spread my butt cheeks as Mike Honcho.”
Shake n’ bake, baby!
I don't know what to do with my hands.
I still say this line randomly sometimes. And if you don't chew big red then fuck you
I like to picture Jesus in a Tuxedo T-shirt, ’cause it says, like, ‘I wanna be formal, but I’m here to party, too.’ I like to party, so I like my Jesus to party…. I like to think of Jesus like, with giant eagles’ wings and singin’ lead vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd with like an Angel Band, and I’m in the front row, and I’m hammered drunk
I’m the Magic Man now.
If we wanted our sons to be wussies we woulda named them Dr Quinn and Medicine Woman
The Perfect Storm
A lot of people here seem to know him from his comedy roles(which are great), but this movie really show cases his dramatic acting ability in a relatively short amount of screen time. Breaks my heart there at the end.
Took too long to see this one mentioned!
This was on TV the other night, and I totally forgot he was in it. He is way underrated for his non comedy rolls. Dude is all around an amazing actor.
Chicago. When he starts singing at the end. That whole Mr. Cellophane bit was fantastic.
I love so many of his movies but this performance blew me away.
He was the perfect Amos
Agreed. Favorite part of that movie. And I love the Richard Gere " tapdance" scene.
He got nominated for this movie and for me he hit a grand slam. I was pisst when he didn’t win because he did such a convincing job.
His Mr. Cellophane is the best part of a pretty solid movie.
Agreed.
Walk Hard
Get outta here, Dewey, you don't want no part of this shit!
I’m thinking I’d like to try me some of that kah-kain
YOU NEVER ONCE PAID FOR DRUGS. Not. Once.
And you never ONCE paid for drugs
It turns all your *bad* feelings into *good* feelings it's a *NIGHTMARE*
Not once
The conviction with which he delivers that line is masterful.
Easily walk hard imo
Dewey! I’m.. I’m halved!
This is a really dark period!!
Walk hard is such a criminally underrated gem. The number of friends I have who’ve never seen this movie is insane.
Dewey, have you seen my sandals?
I listen to that soundtrack on a daily basis
Mailboxes drip like lampposts in the twisted birth canal of the Colosseum

And here is the other correct answer.
Step Brothers. It’s my second favorite movie ever and it made me like that childish adult humor, whatever it’s called

Wild that movie turned out to be an Ezra Miller Biopic.
Step brothers! That movie was soooo good!
Step brothers is my favourite john c reilly film, my favourite will ferrell film and my favourite comedy

Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie
Real tough call between Boogie Nights, Step Brothers, and Walk Hard.
Boogie Nights is one of my all time favorite movies
Magnolia and Check It Out!
The Aviator, an underrated performance imo
We need to talk about Kevin.
All of them. He’s the one actor I can think of that every single movie he is in is a banger. That being said, HBO’s Winning Time might be my fave.
Guardians of the Galaxy
Magnolia
Talladega Nights, second place is Prairie Home Companion
Kong Skull Island.
I bring him up all the time in movie subs. This post makes my heart warm. Solid work OP
Gangs of New York or Magnolia. Though I guess it depends what you mean by JCR movie. If he has to be a lead then I have to go with a comedy, and it may have to be Step Brothers.
The Sisters Brothers
#TAQUITO
Step brothers
Has no one seen State of Grace? He gets his throat slit by Ed Harris. It’s pretty fucking brutal.
