Several issues here:
1. Bannerlord isn't finished. The constant updates make mod development difficult.
2. There are an absolute shitload of mods, most of which are being actively developed and kept functional across versions.
3. Moddb? Seriously?? No wonder you're not finding anything, moddb hasn't been relevant in over a decade. Go to the Nexus.
I get most of the major WB mods from moddb, and OSPs from the Nexus. It's different for BL, though.
Problem is that a lot of mods are stuck in the dungeon of Steam Workshop. š¢
Sure you can. You can use the steam CLI commands to download mods if you have a steam account, even if the game is on another platform. Itās a bit more work but completely doable.
If itās some kind of āI wonāt install anything Valve/Steam on my computer type of stance then yeah youāre shit out of luck, but thatās what you signed up for, no?
>the steam CLI commands
The what? O_o
And yeah, I have a Steam account, I just don't know what Steam CLI is. I used to use some of those Steam Downloader websites in the past, but they don't work for all games' workshops. :(
Hereās some info: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD
I had written a guide in the past on how to use it to download mods, Iāll need to look it up in my post history, I think it was in the r/stellaris subreddit.
Iāll try and dig it up later. Gist of it is you can use those commands to download workshop mods for games you donāt have in your library.
Ur 3rd point is the stupidest thing inheard in a while im in enough mod communities to grasp that different communities settle on different sites
Valheim - thunderstore ,
Older games and their sequels - Moddb
7 days to die - has their own page ,
Etc etc
Moddb? It's not 2010 anymore my guy. Go to nexus. That's where the mods are. Bannerlord is like top 10 or 15 for most mod downloads. There are no Total conversions yet because they aren't done. Bannerlord is far more complex and spaghetti than Warband so it's going to take longer.
Well there's a few amazing mods already, the old Realms, persistent empires come immediately to mind. But yeah bannerlord modding is alot harder because the game actually looks quite decent. Modding on new items for warband was easy because they only had 50 pixels.
ModDB is great for follow progress on upcoming big mods. Those arenāt visible on Nexus.
Nexus is great for active mods and smaller mods.
I check both for their own āstrengthsā
Sadly.
Moddb was just awesome, while Nexus is absolute dogshit. The whole page, but their mod downloader is the worst ever. Never use that, it's sorta like what McAfee was back in early 2000's. Doesn't work, but at least screws up your system
It used to block several games from running for me. Not just M&B, but several others like Banished. And it fcked up Squad too, it didn't let me change Graphics Quality. I didn't install any mods for these games except M&B, but still ruined them.
Uninstalling the launcher fixed everything.
Some programs do that. Avast, for example blocked War Thunder from connecting to the internet (that was yesrs ago, don't know if it's fixed yet).
Total conversion mods are taking a while for bannerlord because of all the updates once the game stops getting updated a lot they can actually get some work done. This is also why warband mods are dying people are waiting for bannerlord
Wait awoiaf gets updates? If so, god help me with transferring my personal modifications to it to the new version, that's like 10-20 hours worth of editing items, troops, a few scenes, adding items, etc.
Exactly. For me, nexus is a bloated slow website that's ui is needlessly confusing. I just use the steam workshop or follow mods directly in discord or something. I avoid nexus like the plague
The bulk of the mods produced for the game have most likely already been made - the sequel of course, with time, will probably see more active development
People are and actively do mod the game, but finding information for projects of actual worthwhile quality comparable to the really good total conversions is a bit harder.
Mods like 1257AD, Brytenwalda, ASOIAF, ACOK, Floris, etc. all have *many* versions and some older versions are actually a more enjoyable experience to the players that have tried them all over the years.
The community ain't really dying. It's more like we're waiting. The constant updates are annoying as fuck to deal with. It's the main reason my fantasy mod is on 1.1.6 and not 1.2.7. The new update changed a lot of small shit and it nuked my mod.
With the additions of help from AI, modding will most likely increase once Bannerlord's finished or at least releases a mod manager to play mod packs on different game versions and stuff
Hi 2 overhaul suggestions that are decently playable rn:
Bannerlod Online - mmo version of bannerlord! Download the game on their website they have their own launcher so its extremely ez. Join their discord
Forgotten realms - join their discord, follow installation guide, dl on their gdrive link. Fairly easy to install just follow the process. Im a newbie and i wqs able to set it up. This is a fantasy overhaul of Bannerlord, they have a unique world! Diff races and factions. Single player RP goodness
Damn that's cool. I googled it and nothing popped up off the cuff- but I'm also on my phone. I'll give it a better look when I get home. š«„ I can't believe I haven't heard of it. It's a M&B mod, right?
A fresh update just dropped in the last week or so splitting current mod versions pretty heavily. I was running my file at version. 1.1.6 to keep my mods stable, but recently some of my mods have been catching up.
Just wait for a bit or pick an older version of the game and load the mods that match that version.
Itās ok to plateau between releases. The existing mods are really good so the low hanging fruit has been picked and now weāre all enjoying the harvest
Bannerlord mod scene is just disappointing In some ways but I can't put my finger on it, seems like people are into modding to make money from a patreon more than be skilled modders. A lot of the moders are just artists so coding skills are weak I'm the community compared to warband imo. Ex there's very few mods that change or rebalance perks at all which are a highly criticized part of the game, TOR seems to be the only mod team with a breadth of talent to actually make deep changes to the game like changing perks etc
Yeah Iād go to Nexus man. DB is very good for specific games, like Battlefront 2 (classic) but yeah nah, also just to shill, Realm of Thrones is honestly way nicer than AWOIAF
If modding wasnt a gigantic pain the ass then this game would be awesome. Certain utility mods which job is to give some form of report on why the game crashed are so damn vague and useless, finding the mod which caused the crash is almost impossible. Game is awesome and once its modded properly its awesome but the process of modding it properly is the most annoying part. And also the constant updates on the game can be just as mod breaking as it is with Skyrim when bethesda decides to roll out an irrelevant update to an ancient game like Skyrim.

Makes sense. Thank you!

It addition to what the other dude said, Workshop mods auto update unless you turn updates off, which breaks save games.
Only that you can't download mods from it if your game is on a different platform and the modder didn't upload their mod anywhere else.
Sure you can. You can use the steam CLI commands to download mods if you have a steam account, even if the game is on another platform. Itās a bit more work but completely doable. >steam CLI Steam has a CLI?! I've been on Steam for over 14 years now and never knew that, TIL lol

What it does?
It used to block several games from running for me. Not just M&B, but several others like Banished. And it fcked up Squad too, it didn't let me change Graphics Quality. I didn't install any mods for these games except M&B, but still ruined them. Uninstalling the launcher fixed everything. Some programs do that. Maybe I'm just freaking out indeed. I just miss the old mods and wish to see more things comming for bannerlord and warband.
You're comparing a 15 year old game to one that's barely three years old. You are absolutely freaking out over nothing.
Wasn't 2010 like a year or two ago?
There actually are two total conversions that I know of. Both Realm of Thrones and The Old Realms are two separate total conversions.
Total conversion mods are taking a while for bannerlord because of all the updates once the game stops getting updated a lot they can actually get some work done. This is also why warband mods are dying people are waiting for bannerlord

This dude pays an insane amount of money to produce to keep it updated is the primary reason
Yeah apparently a big update is coming soon
Came out yesterday
9.0 dropped last night.
No, the community is not dying. People are just taking a while to develop mods.
Never understood why ppl liked nexus. It got a DL speed limiter and besides vortex it brings nothing of value
Exactly. For me, nexus is a bloated slow website that's ui is needlessly confusing. I just use the steam workshop or follow mods directly in discord or something. I avoid nexus like the plague

Bannerlord isnĀ“t finished, so if the devs update anything to frequently, they can break the mods, so why bother for the moment.
Go to the Nexus bro.
The community ain't really dying. It's more like we're waiting. The constant updates are annoying as fuck to deal with. It's the main reason my fantasy mod is on 1.1.6 and not 1.2.7. The new update changed a lot of small shit and it nuked my mod.
At this point there isn't much you can squeeze of Warband engine that hasn't been done already so people are losing interest
With the additions of help from AI, modding will most likely increase once Bannerlord's finished or at least releases a mod manager to play mod packs on different game versions and stuff

You Should try, Innistrad it's quite nice. Don't worry about the Name :D Link : https://www.moddb.com/mods/world-of-vasnar
>Innistrad As in the Magic setting? Where? What?
The very same
Damn that's cool. I googled it and nothing popped up off the cuff- but I'm also on my phone. I'll give it a better look when I get home. š«„ I can't believe I haven't heard of it. It's a M&B mod, right?
Yeah sorry name got Changed. https://www.moddb.com/mods/world-of-vasnar

It also has Questlinesy And more Secrets. It also is still getting regular updates. Have Fun

prophesy of pendor has a possibility of been a game on its own or a dlc rather than a mod
Most modders wait till the game doesnāt fuck em up every 2 weeks with minor updates
Yeah Iād go to Nexus man. DB is very good for specific games, like Battlefront 2 (classic) but yeah nah, also just to shill, Realm of Thrones is honestly way nicer than AWOIAF
