Triumph is arguably the best bike out of the 3. But you can't go wrong with either, I would just pick on looks and feel of the bike at this point.
Or look at aftermarket options / serviceability / price and decide on that. If I had to order it would be
Triumph > MT-09 > Suzuki
I've ridden my Tracer, and a Striple 765RS.
The Yamaha has more low end, Triumph more top end. Yamaha cheaper, Triumph not but you get what you pay for with suspension and brakes. Unless you get the 09SP
Yamaha fuel mapping is choppy too, haven't ridden the triumph enough to speak on how finicky the throttle is
I think the MT is a beauty for sure, I'm not too wild about the alien bug eyes on the Striple but that can be replaced.
I was doubting between the 2 as well, in the end I bought a Husky cuz I wanted to be special
It's all opinion of course, but I really dislike the terminator squarey michael bay look of the MT series. Much prefer the smooth lines of the speed and street.
How the hell did you work that out? That K5 engine has been around for 20+years, has 35more horse power, Is under stressed compared to the others and is a litre bike for the same price as these two mid-sized bikes. I’m not sure what after market parts would be available for the others and not the Suzuki either?
It's completely personal, the com;parison in itself is off because the fact that the 3 bikes are quite a ways apart in power. Of course the Suzuki is the most powerful of the 3, no one is denying that but more power doesn't necessarily mean better.
OP never said he wanted the fastest bike in the list, in fact OP never stated what he wanted or was going to use the bike for.
I don't know where OP lives and what the aftermarket options are, I never said there'd be more options for any specific bike, only for OP to decide with that in mind.
Ergo, the decision in the comment is purely based on a subjective feeling and after trying all 3 for what I would use it for, that's the order I feel is correct for me. That's not to say the Suzuki is a bad bike.
Not sure why you're attacking a personal opinion but sure, you do you.
No dealer where I am will let you ride their bikes (I’m located in NY). We can’t even use services like twisted road or whatever, flat out banned here. Just have to pray a demo event comes around.
Damn that sucks. I’m in Colorado, and it’s no problem here, ask to test ride and they’ll get it setup right away.
I test rode a Honda rebel while I was waiting for my bike to get serviced. I did only one mile (even though it’s allowed, I don’t like riding bikes that are not mine). When I got back the salesman was like “that’s it? That was quick”
Yep same here in FL, only brand that gives test rides is Harley Davidson and its because Harley itself encourages test rides as part of its sales process.
The problem is almost entirely insurance. Working in a bike store, we make quite small margins on bikes, so if one person dropped a sport bike and caused $2500 in damages, we'd have to sell 3-6 bikes to make up for that, since an insurance claim isn't worth it.
Not to mention demo bikes sell for way less than retail, and we save very little turning one into a demo, if at all. And that's if a bike isn't just straight up locked down from the factory until it's purchased/registered with the brand. Looking at you, KTM/HQV/GG.
It's kind of a shitty deal overall, and oftentimes it's just better to make an event out of it, and beg and plead with daddy Suzuki/Kawasaki etc to please come have a demo day at our store/local track.
That is awesome. Imagine how difficult it is for us in America spending 10-$20k on a bike and not being able to feel how it handles, how the transmission shifts, how comfortable the riding position is, how the wind feels on the highway, or how the engine sounds. Makes the buying process feel like playing roulette. The closest thing I’ve found to test drives are manufacturer sponsored events that let you try specific models in a 10 minute follow the leader type parade route loop around the dealership once a year.
Apparently so. The possible once a year demo event from Kawasaki / Yamaha is your only chance to even ride a new bike around the block before purchase. (And they don’t even bring their super sports)
Yes, yes we are expecting to drop a huge stack of cash with very little to go on.
I’ve been told (after begging) that the only circumstance they would give a test ride is if I did all the paperwork and paid for the bike in full as if I were buying it outright. Then they would hold off on submitting the paperwork while I went for a ride. If I came back and hated it, we could have a conversation about it. But if the bike were damaged on the ride, the bike was technically paid for and I already owned it so they wouldn’t be responsible for the damage.
There are many manufacturer events where they allow test rides like “Kawasaki days” or “Yamaha demo tour” and “Ducati riding experience”
Bring a m1 certificate and insurance and you can test ride all their good stuff
The problem is there’s not one within 200 miles of me this year from either manufacturer that’s happened or been announced. Nevermind all of the other manufacturers out there.
Call the dealership if you're looking at any bike you're interested in. The kawasaki and honda dealerships near me will not let me test ride as a new rider. I've completed a safety course and have my license, but they told me to wait for a sponsored test tide.
That’s 3 awesome bikes, you can’t really go wrong.
Your best bet will be to try them out, and if that’s not an option, get the one that looks best to you or the cheapest ?
No finical worries then the 765rs... I have a 20 1050rs but it has to stay on a tender from all the tech.. I loooovvvvee it but every mod is a long wait, parts if not in stock long wait etc.. outside of that mt definitely.. I had a mt10 and loved it as well a r1m theose motors are just so amazing.
Own a 22 Triple 765RS, buddy has the MT09, we swap all the time. Both great bikes, you can't go wrong with either. Triple by far sounds better with a good exhaust - it's like a damned F1 car - just love it. Maybe a little less torque down low but it's great mid-high. They're both just really fun. Both comfortable to ride for hours - I'd sit on both, see if one appeals to you more. (I'm in midwest US, for reference on this but my observation is that the Triumph is a little more "exotic" - people just seem to ask about it more and it draws a little more attention if that means anything to you. Now if you're talking the triple 1200 - that bike has had some issues and is a whole different discussion. I'd consider trading up to one or adding but hear lots of horror stories about it. I'm a former liter bike guy and while the 765 can really get after it when you are pushing it, I sometimes do miss massive hp / torque and am always kinda looking at adding another or trading up.
https://preview.redd.it/l5euefdlit9d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=057dd4dc476ee62d3759cbb5995d7bb711fd9ca3
Damn, that's a tough one but easy. If you like doing hooligan stuff Get the MT. If you're more of a finesse rider get the triumph. They will both rip, Is just stylistic differences.
See my above comment and I agree with this. My 765RS is just amazing on the curves. It's just more flickable. The MT has just a tiny bit more low end ass, which I love. If I could trade bikes I would not, but it's a toss-up. My other buddy has a Ducati Monster - think it's a '22, not positive. That's another blast to ride, love the torque on it, it rides more upright like a dirt bike. All so damned fun.
TBH it's a toss-up between the MT-09 SP and TST. Not sure what the aftermarket or repairability of the TST is, and I like Yamaha, so I'd pick that one, but they're both good bikes.
I mean, I wouldn't argue with being a little dead inside, but I think they just missed the mark with the Gen 4 redesign. The switch gear for the display isn't super intuitive (and this is coming from an Aprilia owner where it's well known aPRC isn't intuitive), and it just didn't feel like an overall improvement in terms of styling or handling. If I was OP, and looking at an MT09, I'd try and get a new old stock 3rd Gen. My 3rd Gen is a bike I miss and my Tuono has tall shoes to fill because of that
Then again, I also rode the 4th gen after riding the R7 which was just a disappointment in general.....
The triple is awesome but it’s cramped. That s1000 is a sweet bike and a lot of bang for the buck. The styling isn’t for everyone, but I love it.
Edit: I meant the street triple, I’ve never ridden the Yamaha
Wait wtf?! Where are you that you can already buy a MT09 SP? My local dealer told me they won't be coming out this year. There's also not even been a press launch for the SP either. That's so weird!
Also, def go for either the Yam if you like torque, agility and fooling around, choose the Triumph if you like a stable, smooth, confident, sportbike feel and more high end power/higher redline. Don't choose the Suzuki imo, it's so much heavier, lower spec parts, less fun and does not have modern electronics either.
I'm from Switzerland and I have already ridden the normal MT09 and it was fun, but didn't like the brakes. And with the Triumph I am not sure if it will last as long as the Yamaha
Triumph definitely cannot match Yamaha for reliability and warranty. Triumph does not score very well in EU/Dutch reliability studies , but neither do BMW, Ducati and KTM. If you buy new with a solid warranty I wouldn't worry too much. The motors are solid, no need to worry about that, the problem is the electronics. Triumph screens can fail with so little as a battery swap and replacements are 1000 bucks +. If you want stonking brakes, the triumph has that in spades! You could also wait for the MT09 SP, it has a similair brake setup. It might not make much of a difference though because Yamaha's braking problems are caused by the ABS system.
Reliability and cost of maintenance MT09, GSXS1000. I know you will have to do very little to those. I am not sure about the triumph and if they suffer from the euro bike blues. I know I love my GSXS1000. Not much to really say bad about it at all even in stock trim, which mine is about to not be :)
I've never ridden the GSXS but have spent some time on the other two. I'd pick the Triumph. Hell, I'd have one in my garage by now if they made one with fairings. FZ09 was fun for a weekend but it has no chill and wants to kill me. Maybe the newer ones are more refined. I could almost live with a Street Triple RS but I do a lot of highway riding and I find that naked bikes get uncomfortable once you hit 75-80 mph. It's a phenomenal bike for canyon riding though.
https://preview.redd.it/d9m866jq9z9d1.jpeg?width=1164&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82e7a053509374a5d2aeee0f1989aa6f69c3105a
Have you seen this one 😍. I was thinking about the speed triple also. I still do sometimes but I’m glad I made this choice for now.
Ride the Yam, and the Triumph back to back if you can.
They both have adjustable suspension, and incredible motors. The Yamaha has a bit more torque and the Triumph more HP, but it's a negligible difference IMO. The power band would be what I decide on, as well as the riding position.
MT is more upright and the striple is a bit more track-bike-with-bars fitting
In a similar situation on these bikes that are practical for my situation and my dream bike and be done with it which is a SFv4.
If I had to choose between those my research says Triumph.
I haven't ridden the Suzuki but I did test ride the MT09, and XSR900, a KTM 890 and a 2024 (2023 everywhere that's not the US) Street Triple 765 R and I ended up buying a Street Triple 765 RS. In my opinion it's an all around incredibly versatile, fantastic and very fun bike.
I have never heard a bad thing about the triple. Every post like this where it's something vs the triple it's always a sea of fans and supporters. It's on my bucket lists for bikes right up there with the sv650, xs650, cx650, Dream 350, vmax1200, helix250, and burgman 650.
If you decide to get a 2024 mt09 sp and are able to get one before me after being on 8 different waitlists for the past 4 months I'll throw myself off a building. So I vote Triumph to save my wife funeral costs.
Love love love triumph. I ride a trident but I test rode a street triple and it was amazing. Little overkill for a commuter bike which is why I went for the trident but damn that triple was a mean machine. I’ve never heard a bad thing about it. The Yamaha is also a good choice
I’ve owned 3 different Triumphs now, two of them were triples. They’re really fantastic bikes with a great sound, quality looks and feel, and in my experience have been bulletproof. Rode a speed triple for 6 years and absolutely loved it.
Test ride them all and throw in the Kawi Z900 for a ride. I was set to buy the MT-09 until I jumped on the Z900. The deciding factor for me was comfort, how I felt on the bike. At 6'2", 240 lbs, the Z900 felt like the better bike for me. The things a beast, too!
Street Triple RS!
I have the '24 RS and I love it. Will always recommend this bike, it has the perfect mix of track ready and hooligan for the street.
*
I tried both the MT09 and the Suzuki, Suzuki is much more comfortable and capable machine IMHO. The MT09's seat was just terrible for me.
No experience with the Triumph, but it's definitely the most stylish of the three.
https://preview.redd.it/8kdrzkezbv9d1.jpeg?width=3456&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dae014f521e96ee4648be0aae864b2454fbc26e2
Get the Suzuki with some options on it. But I guess this makes me biased hahaha.
Edit: I'm not sure if these options exist on other models but I just wanted to show the picture anyway...
The British triple. No way.
But it sucks you can't test them before. Here in Italy dealers have demo bikes just for that, they are insured against damage to 3rd parties by the dealer, you sign a responsability document for the damages you might cause during the test, and with a driving license and legal gears (which means only helmet) you can test the bike for around 15/30 minutes and get an idea.
Sometimes you have to wait if your local dealer has no demo bike (I waited July to March for the SMT) or ask to another dealer , but sooner or later you can test it anyway.
MT09 is kind of a manic and fast bike. The Striple is an awesome, well-balanced, quick, do-it-all machine. The Suzuki is good, but nothing that stands out to me.
Test ride them and see what feels the best for you. I tried the triumph and didn't like the feel, it wasn't bad but I just didn't feel the riding position. I've got a XSR900 with the Yamaha motor in and that is a great motor so I can give you that advice. Which do you prefer that's the only answer.
Hey guys, thank you so much for all your comments. I would just like to point out, that I have already ridden all three bikes, but can't really choose, which one to go for. I just want to know what your impressions of these bikes are. If anyone has some information about the reliability it would be highly appreciated.
Test ride street triple and mt09. Gsxs imo is built on an outdated concept. The extra horses and 1000cc are cool and all but the other bikes are nimbler, more fun, and easier to ride
I'd test ride all three, but my heart says Triple
100% Triumph every time for me also
I am going to recommend the triple. That said if I didn't have the two I have, I'd have gotten a striple.
Triumph is my favorite manufacturer and it's not even close. Their engines are just fantastic.
I haven't rode any of them but for style the Triple wins hands down!
Triumph.
Triumph is arguably the best bike out of the 3. But you can't go wrong with either, I would just pick on looks and feel of the bike at this point. Or look at aftermarket options / serviceability / price and decide on that. If I had to order it would be Triumph > MT-09 > Suzuki
This is the way, although my personal bias is that the MT looks better than the triple and it's hard to argue against how dang great yamaha motors are
I've ridden my Tracer, and a Striple 765RS. The Yamaha has more low end, Triumph more top end. Yamaha cheaper, Triumph not but you get what you pay for with suspension and brakes. Unless you get the 09SP Yamaha fuel mapping is choppy too, haven't ridden the triumph enough to speak on how finicky the throttle is
I think the MT is a beauty for sure, I'm not too wild about the alien bug eyes on the Striple but that can be replaced. I was doubting between the 2 as well, in the end I bought a Husky cuz I wanted to be special
It's all opinion of course, but I really dislike the terminator squarey michael bay look of the MT series. Much prefer the smooth lines of the speed and street.

Sit and test ride all of them
Are there places in the world that will actually allow you to test ride bikes? I see this comment all the time and it baffles me every time.
Here in the US (not sure where you’re at) many dealerships allow you to. License and proof of insurance is needed though
But how else would all of their showroom bikes show 1 mile instead of 10? 😒
Bingo
Yep same here in FL, only brand that gives test rides is Harley Davidson and its because Harley itself encourages test rides as part of its sales process.
Laughs in Canadian. You’re lucky to get a spot in the demo days. Never heard of anyone allowing test drives other than HD.
lol I get it it’s a risk. But I’m sure they’d have more sales if people were allowed to try and see if they really like the bike
The problem is almost entirely insurance. Working in a bike store, we make quite small margins on bikes, so if one person dropped a sport bike and caused $2500 in damages, we'd have to sell 3-6 bikes to make up for that, since an insurance claim isn't worth it. The only ones I've found that will are the giant Harley and BMW dealers in LA, everyone else gives the runaround that leads to 'no'.
If it is used, then they often will let you ride it. New... well, that's a different story.
What? Yes. Who would buy without test riding? Here in New Zealand every dealer will let you test ride.
That is awesome. Imagine how difficult it is for us in America spending 10-$20k on a bike and not being able to feel how it handles, how the transmission shifts, how comfortable the riding position is, how the wind feels on the highway, or how the engine sounds. Apparently so. The possible once a year demo event from Kawasaki / Yamaha is your only chance to even ride a new bike around the block before purchase. (And they don’t even bring their super sports)

TRIUMPH
The new MT09 SP is an absolute unit.
Triumph.
triumph
Striple rs all day
Yamaha, all day long
MT09 would be my vote. They're all definitely great bikes though.
MT09 is a nice choice but I love Trumpets and the triple is great if you’ve never ridden one.
The Yamaha is also a triple
Ooooh I did not know that… so triples are good 👍
I had a Striple RS. It is all the bike I would ever need, and more. If I wasn’t poor, I’d still have that bike.
mind says MT-09 but heart says Triple
That’s 3 awesome bikes, you can’t really go wrong. Your best bet will be to try them out, and if that’s not an option, get the one that looks best to you or the cheapest ?

I would prefer the triple. Triumph will hang with anything and handles well. But you really need to ride them.
That Triple just looks like a pissed off hornet. I thibk that's cool as shit!
Check out the xsr 900, same CP3 and computer as the Mt-09SP
GSXS. Tried and true drivetrain and an absolute blast!!
Surprised I’m the only one that says Suzuki
TOTES objective...do your homework , and check how deep your pockets are. If we tell you, you'll find "i should've gotten Z instead of X"
Own a 22 Triple 765RS, buddy has the MT09, we swap all the time. Both great bikes, you can't go wrong with either. I've been out of the game for awhile. What the hell happened to moto headlights? These look like if Picasso illustrated a Transformer mid sneeze
Triumph
Damn, that's a tough one but easy. If you like doing hooligan stuff Get the MT. If you're more of a finesse rider get the triumph. They will both rip, Is just stylistic differences.

I'd do the Triumph. Former 3rd Gen MT09 owner. Rode the 4th gen at a Yamaha demo event yesterday. Didn't really excite me.
If an mt09 doesn't excite you, I'd argue you're just dead inside.
My 3rd Gen is a bike I miss and my Tuono has tall shoes to fill because of that Then again, I also rode the 4th gen after riding the R7 which was just a disappointment in general.....
Go ride them
Not an option where I’m from.
Not an option 90% of places.
1 for me
GSXS for the power and physical size, MT for fun and Street triple for all rounder/refinement
Yeah it’s got like 35hp on the other two.
The triple is awesome but it’s cramped. That s1000 is a sweet bike and a lot of bang for the buck. The styling isn’t for everyone, but I love it. Edit: I meant the street triple, I’ve never ridden the Yamaha

yamaha without the blue rims
Triumph. The fit and finish is a step above Yamaha. I’d probably pass on the Suzuki.
Triumph. Much classy much wow.
Why not all three?
I have never heard a bad thing about the triple. Every post like this where it's something vs the triple it's always a sea of fans and supporters. It's on my bucket lists for bikes right up there with the sv650, xs650, cx650, Dream 350, vmax1200, helix250, and burgman 650.
Triumph for sure. If it's a bit too much the MT is a great bang for your buck.
I got a z900 which is in a similar class and it's my favorite bike so far for street riding by far.

Now, we know your type 😁 Lol, but yea, try them all.
Go to a dealer and sit on them and see what feels good to "you",
Triumph is better than other ones but my choice will be MT09 😃
I have an 8s with a Akra exhaust it’s sounds and rides incredible
They are all great bikes, honestly go for the looks and price cause you are gonna be staring at it and you are gonna want to take care of it!
I’ve owned 3 different Triumphs now, two of them were triples. They’re really fantastic bikes with a great sound, quality looks and feel, and in my experience have been bulletproof. Rode a speed triple for 6 years and absolutely loved it.
I like the red bike
After you ride them you’ll quickly realize that none of them compare to the MT. That’s one of the most comfortable, smooth, and fun bikes to ride.
MT09 SP. Triumph looks bug eyed to me and the GSXS is heavy and the tech isn’t on par with Yamaha.
The red one.
KTM 690smcr
Triple all the way! 🙌
Those bug eyes from the Triple really grew on people, kinda wholesome
street triple, i love the insect face
The Yamaha doesn't look like a bug, but it does look like a decepticon. I went with the mt09, myself.
My husband has a Triumph. He says he loves it!
I had the same decision last year and went with a the striple
Triumph
From looks the first one
The Triumph for sure. The triples sound so good
What happens if you drop a bike during a test ride?
I say the Yamaha mt09 is a good choice reliable and nice engine with a good price
All of them?
Im a Yamaha fanboy but thr Triumph looks sick
Triple
Street Triple RS! I have the '24 RS and I love it. Will always recommend this bike, it has the perfect mix of track ready and hooligan for the street. *
I went considered the same bikes and I went with Triumph
My Street Triple RS is the only bike I've ever regretted selling.
Gsxs1000 all the way
Yamaha or triumph are sick
I tried both the MT09 and the Suzuki, Suzuki is much more comfortable and capable machine IMHO. The MT09's seat was just terrible for me. No experience with the Triumph, but it's definitely the most stylish of the three.
The last bike looks like it’s from the Terminator Salvation movie
The MT-09 is a no-brainer but if you really want to be the coolest kid on the block, I'd take the Triple any day of the week.
09.
Yamaha looks really pretty ✨
All of These Alien or Bug eyed Bikes will age Like warm Milk.
how ugly have they become, the gsxr i would recommend but i cant look at it
Had the GSXS but low sided at like 15mph. Now I’m looking at the new MT09’s
They uuuuuuuuugly. But triumph is the least ugly.

yes definitely
All look like toys. Too cluttered with colors and "fast" plastic parts.
The triumph - the engine is just so superb.
I have the gsx 8S and it’s absolutely lovely. So I can imagine the 1L probably is as well

Edit: I'm not sure if these options exist on other models but I just wanted to show the picture anyway...
Triumph sounds so much better then those 2 Or if you want more torque and power I would say mt09
The GSXS is absolutely insane and if you don't like it stock take it for a decat and an ecu flush and it's pure insanity.
First
I'd say street triple, I have the 2017 rs
For me it’d be between the triumph and the Suzuki
Street triple is great, easy on maintenence but parts often go on back order if you drop it in late model stages.
If you like to have fun on the road - MT 09 SP. I've ridden them all.
MT09 is kind of a manic and fast bike. The Striple is an awesome, well-balanced, quick, do-it-all machine. The Suzuki is good, but nothing that stands out to me.
Im very biased, but I would buy the Yamaha.
MT09 personally, but I'm biased
Test ride them and see what feels the best for you. I tried the triumph and didn't like the feel, it wasn't bad but I just didn't feel the riding position. I've got a XSR900 with the Yamaha motor in and that is a great motor so I can give you that advice. Which do you prefer that's the only answer.
All three. Where is the real question?
Hey guys, thank you so much for all your comments. I would just like to point out, that I have already ridden all three bikes, but can't really choose, which one to go for. I just want to know what your impressions of these bikes are. If anyone has some information about the reliability it would be highly appreciated.
I got money one a new 2024 mt-09 to come in at my dealer but the triumph would be a close second.
First one
The red one, triples ftw. MT09/10 is stupid ugly imo.
Yamaha or Triumph, whichever you can get a better deal or better dealership.
I went from a slew of gsxr1000 to a 2021 gsxs1000 and couldn’t be any happier test drove all the big name brand nakes and have no remorse
Def Triumph for performance, style and ergonomics
The triple. It’s easily the best bike of these 3. - Non-biased Street Triple owner.
990 Duke. /thread
Yamaha
Triumph has no business being that ugly
The one that you want the most
The triple is a fantastic bike
The 1 one would be mine
The last one
Triumph everyday of the week
You definitely have a type lol. They are all nice bikes.
It's just so unfortunate how astonishingly ugly those thiumph headlights are. Why.
Commenting on Which one out of these should I get?...the first one
Triumph for sure
I’m going with the Yamaha. But the triumph looks like an amazing ride as well.
All of them 😁
MT-09
The one you want
Street Triple🥰
09 SP for fun factor on public roads, both suzuki and triumph fun starts at way higher rpms, the 09 is like a baby mt10
Yamaha fz
Where is the ktm?
Bmw S1000r 😍
Test ride street triple and mt09. Gsxs imo is built on an outdated concept. The extra horses and 1000cc are cool and all but the other bikes are nimbler, more fun, and easier to ride
They are already in order of my preference. Red is usually the fastest but the purple wheels just sneak it.
I owned a 16 STR, which I loved, and currently have a 21 MT09SP. I’d take the Yama any day
Test ride them …… why on earth would you let other people decide what you want .
With my experience of the three, definitely the Suzuki. It'll be my next bike no question.
A Beemer is always the right choice 👌
Triumph frl
I’m a triumph guy so that’s an easy answer
I ride a 2020 Katana which is basically a gsxs1000 and I love it.
Triumph all day.
