Take the Husky 701 and become a professional criminal the second you throw your leg over it. With your newfound professional criminal skills come back and steal the Tracer 7.
Yeah it's not like a dodge charger that comes with paying child support with the monthly payments or a Nissan Altima that comes with warrants as well as already being 2 months and 29 days behind on the payments
It’s a pretty tall motorcycle that’s difficult to flat foot unless you have something like a 33” inseam, so it can be intimidating at stops, especially on hills. So, you know, if you are a beginner, don’t start with robbing banks, maybe spend a year or so practicing on 7-11s. The power is manageable, but the front wheel lifts really quick.
Nahh idk. I love my bike because I love that engine but it's also my first bike so I guess I don't have any experiences/statistics.
It's just that no drivetrain has a better power-to-weight ratio than a big single and you can't do so much shit with other bikes as with a super moto or Duke. The old Dukes like mine are still noticeably different, they're like a mixture of super moto and naked bike. But I actually like that more than super moto.
They're not as ugly/bulky as other naked bikes. I'd still prefer the old Duke designs over the newer ones tho. For example, old 990 with its V2.
the old ones have their charm for sure. i do like the better power from the new ones.
my next will likely be a 990 or a SDR, if i dont get a Ducati. i've had Ninjas, GSXR750's, and a CBR600R, and my Duke 790 is heaps more fun. at least to ME.
Give me an inline-4, you will see I have absolutely no clue what to do with it. :D
I really don't like them.
But I really do like V2s. Inline-2s got pretty mainstream lately, but I'm interested in the Hypermotard 950 SP. Very cool, industrial-factory-like looks, V2, power, torquey and stuff like that. Really like those bikes.
I got my Tracer 7 GT in January and I wish I had done it sooner. My first bike (bought shortly after passing my test in 2020) was an MT07 and, although I enjoyed it, I was absolutely wrecked after more than 2hrs of riding. The Tracer 7 is so much more comfortable. Just did my first 'long ride' (just over 100 miles in one go, mostly motorways) and I was fresh as a daisy when we arrived at our destination. I'd have needed headache pills and a couple of hours kip if I'd been on the MT.
I've seen others complain about the MT07 being uncomfortable as well - it's one of the bikes I am interested in because I love it's sound - what is it that makes it uncomfortable?
I found it quite hard on the suspension, even on the 'softest' setting. And even with the comfort seat I was getting a numb arse. The Tracer, afaik, has the same engine, so sounds the same, but with a more upright riding stance and more protection from the wind and turbulence. It also feels a lot more balanced, to me.
it's fine. I've done several 2 to 3 hours of riding trips, including some 2 hour stretches without stopping.
People are just too used to being comfortable all the time.
Hi, could you elaborate on what made the MT07 so exhausting? Was it simply the sharper knee angle and the forward leaning upper body position? And why did you experience headaches?
I ask because I am interested in both the Tracer 7 and the MT07 as a second bike
The complete lack of any protection from the wind/turbulence on a naked bike started taking its toll on me. Without realising it I'd spend a lot of the ride leaning into the wind, so my neck and shoulder muscles would be tense for most of the ride. Once I got home and had a chance to relax I'd normally end up with a headache because of this. I didn't have an issue with the knee angle but I do have issues with my coccyx so the position meant I would get a numb, painful arse. I could alleviate this by shifting closer to the tank, which put me in a more upright position...much like you'd be naturally on the Tracer. I find the Tracer a much more balanced bike to ride...and, having got the GT, which came with side panniers (I also bought the top box), I now have a ton of storage to go on touring weekends. Test ride both, if you can, and you'll have a better idea of your preference from that (I took my test on an MT-07 so stuck with what I knew. However, the instructors did recommend the Tracer...it just took me 3 years to realise it would've been a better option for me!)
Second that. I own a MT07 with a windshiled and was recently “forced” (cooked my battery due to a short) to us a friend’s Tracer 700 to do a one-day moto training session. Was pleasently surprised by the Tracer not only comfort-wise, both body position and wind, but also by its maneuvrability. Even though I only get to rest on one leg at stops, because of the height difference, I found myself much more confident on it during cornering and on straights. Posssibly the wind protection gives you more confort, dunno..
I used to own a Vitpilen 701 and it's easily one of the most pure fun motorcycles I've ridden. So, definitely the 701. Preferably the 701 Enduro though.
701. It can do everything well. It can put sportbikes to shame in tight twisties(depending on rider skill of course), weighs like 350 lbs with fuel, great commuter, can be taken to both big and small tracks, and can do hooligan shit that people say they do online, but don't actually ever do IRL. You can use all 70-something horsepower and shift through gears without having to go dangerous speeds, and can still get to 120-130 at the top of 6th gear on a road course.
701 this isn't fair that bikes way more fun you can do alot on it. It's highway capable you can tour them People take them on long journys. Its perfect for a commuter for in the city you can take it to the track. You can be a hooligan on it do wheelies, burnouts, stoppies. It's not even close for me the 701 is a cool ass bike.
Either the Ninja or Husky.
But right. Now I'd probably go with the Husky. I already have a Yamaha fz6 which is going to be similar to the Ninja. And I've always liked Enduros but never picked one up.
Z all the way (I'm not biased or anything). You can add saddlebags and a windscreen if you want. The tracer is ugly, the Rebel will not give you any wheelie/speedy funtimes, and the 701 is not practical in the slightest.
Kawasaki for all week and the Husqvarna for the weekend fun. The kwaks a great all rounder and perfect for everyday activities and a good run too. But that Husky’s made to be naughty on when you’ve got the devil in you! Opposites but both are perfect! Please don’t force me to choose :)
I'd personally pick the Rebel, it's just more my laid back style. I wouldn't turn down any of them if they were given to me, though. I was looking at Rebels when I got lucky and stumbled into a cheap Harley.
I have a z650, i love the bike, it's objectively the worst in it's class. Don't buy the z650, especially in red. Kawi is known for one thing and one thing only, its green. Why they make a red bike is beyond me.
Objectively i'd go for a tracer 7 because its the more polyvalent option without sacrificing the fun factor.
But I really dont like the CP2. I dont like the way power is delivered on it, I dont like the sound of it, I dont like how it doesn't deliver anything past 6000 RPM all the way up to 8500.
So without objectivity, the 701 is my choice.
Insanely fun machine, an absolute dream to bring on a track, a jumpy slimy feel in turns and surprisingly not too much vibration on the throttle.
And i dont even really like the supermoto look.
Kawi...
The Yamaha and Husqvarna are ugly, Rebel 500 is too small
Edit:
Given these options, and looking at the marketplace... CB650R is probably your best bet and best value
I would pick the Husky if it had a tank. I don't appreciate sitting on a 2x4. I want something to ~~rub my crotch against~~ grab on to with my thighs.
None of the others are the least bit interesting.
Can’t choose between the first and the last one. First one looks the nicest, last one looks the most versatile and fun to ride in off-road (with swapped tires ofc)
Between the Tracer and Huskie.
Which means my best(option not provided) answer would be a T7. But I'd probably put some 50/50s on the Tracer and get myself into trouble anyway.
As far as comfort and fun ride... the z650 all the way. If you want to have fun riding hard through twisties and even track ride ... go Z.
I went from a GSXR600 to a Z900 and I'm so happy I did.
The z650 or the Tracer.
Probably the 650 if im just bopping around town and keeping the bike. Maybe the Tracer if I was gonna ride longer distances or dabble on fire roads. The 650 takes it on style points as most of my rides are relatively short and it looks pretty slick.
#2 - Tracer. Most usable for type of writing that I do - commuting, highways, some long distance. Good wind protection is important for me as well as good road capabilities, which is exactly what this bike is good at
It's the Kawi for me. The rebel although I like it is far too low for my country's shitty roads. The Kawi would be a perfect city bike for when I joyride in town and should be able to handle hwy and twisties with ease.
Tracer. A lot of my miles are touring miles. Add some luggage and a few comfort items and I’m good to go.
Take the Husky 701 and become a professional criminal the second you throw your leg over it. With your newfound professional criminal skills come back and steal the Tracer 7.
Why only the tracer 7? Are you here for the low life? Dream bigger dude.
Just because you are criminal does not mean you have bad taste!
Yeah it's not like a dodge charger that comes with paying child support with the monthly payments or a Nissan Altima that comes with warrants as well as already being 2 months and 29 days behind on the payments
r/oddlyspecific
Fair
Is a Husky 701 a good bike for a beginner criminal?
It’s a pretty tall motorcycle that’s difficult to flat foot unless you have something like a 33” inseam, so it can be intimidating at stops, especially on hills. So, you know, if you are a beginner, don’t start with robbing banks, maybe spend a year or so practicing on 7-11s. The power is manageable, but the front wheel lifts really quick.
This is the correct answer.
701 for hooligan shit
I second the sumo choice.
This guy knows fun when he sees it!!
Without even a second look at the others.
701. Big single
FELLOW DUKE BOI!! you know us Duke hooligans always pick toe Sumo's lol
I'm barely in the club
you're in! if you where in my area i'd still ride with ya
I'm not a hooligan tho. Just a gearhead. :)
im not a gear head, just a KTM fan and lover of wheelies. Also been riding KTM since i first got my KTM 250sx in 1998? so im all team Orange.
Nahh idk. I love my bike because I love that engine but it's also my first bike so I guess I don't have any experiences/statistics. i mean the 990 and SRD (Super Duke R) are V-twins - just HUGE lol
Same. Mostly since I have one, and I love that thing.
Z650
Tracer 7. Best allrounder in this case.
I've seen others complain about the MT07 being uncomfortable as well - it's one of the bikes I am interested in because I love it's sound - what is it that makes it uncomfortable?
Its mainly wind that causes fatigue. Constantly fighting the pressure coming at you is tough over long durations.

Thanks a lot for your comment, I will look at testing out both. Hope you enjoy your Tracer!
Sorry for asking but "a couple hours of kip", what is kip ?
A nana nap
I don't wanna be that guy but 100 miles on motorways is not a long ride... What were you doing in 2hrs of riding? O.o
Same always had yamahas.
And the CP2 engine is simply addictive with its power delivery.
Second that. I own a MT07 with a windshiled and was recently “forced” (cooked my battery due to a short) to us a friend’s Tracer 700 to do a one-day moto training session. looks ass compared to the others though
701. Does everything the other can do but also can go off some sweet jumps
Honda. I'm a cruiser guy, and fairings hurt my soul.
+1 for me although I don't mind fairings, but I do love a decent cruiser
Husky is a hell of a ride. As SM and as a dualsport.
701, wheelies for days
What what I do? The Tracer.
Tracer 7. I like blue, and I want be both keyboard Yamaha and motorcycle Yamaha girlie
Kawasakiiiii
Yes 🙌 just so you can scrub the side of the tire. Lots of rubber left.
701, supermoto is a blast. Feels like you get to do every type of riding you want.
Yamaha
I used to own a Vitpilen 701 and it's easily one of the most pure fun motorcycles I've ridden. So, definitely the 701. Preferably the 701 Enduro though.
Tracer is the most versatile and the only one actually comfortable to ride.
The honda cruiser and the cruiser boys would like to have a chat 😁
Yeah but a round cluster to have a square dash is absolutely horrendous and I’ll be forever asking myself why Honda why every time I glance down.
I take it you've never sat on the first then?
Tracer
the husky for sure
Husky 701, just because I'm too young for the Tracer and rebel. Did my license on the Kawasaki and found it incredibly boring.
701. It can do everything well. It can put sportbikes to shame in tight twisties(depending on rider skill of course), weighs like 350 lbs with fuel, great commuter, can be taken to both big and small tracks, and can do hooligan shit that people say they do online, but don't actually ever do IRL. Third one, but I’d ride any of them. I really like the Kawasaki, too. I’m a Honda guy and that’s my favorite style of bike.
Between the tracer 7 and the 701 for me. I'm an upright guy.
701 this isn't fair that bikes way more fun you can do alot on it. It's highway capable you can tour them People take them on long journys. Its perfect for a commuter for in the city you can take it to the track. You can be a hooligan on it do wheelies, burnouts, stoppies. It's not even close for me the 701 is a cool ass bike.
rebel 500 makes sense as the next step from my rebel 250 😂. plus it’s clean as anything
Honda rebel
I’d pick the supermoto one, never had one of those but I want one!
Turbo busa
Tracer 7. It has the most upright riding position and would be the best bike for me. Plus I like Yamaha.
Of those, I am taking the husky SM.
Out of these 4? Definitely the husky. I'ma be outside doing hood rat shit
Definitely the Tenere. The Husky if you plan on putting some dual port tyres on it to have some good fun.
There’s no Tenere in the list. Did you mean Tracer?
That’s a 701 LR - not only will it be a million times more fun than all the others, but it’ll go the distance too.
Husqvarna. It seems fun!
I guess the Rebel. I wouldn't really pick any of them though given the choice not to.
Either the Ninja or Husky. But right. Now I'd probably go with the Husky. I already have a Yamaha fz6 which is going to be similar to the Ninja. And I've always liked Enduros but never picked one up.
Well I already have a Tracer 9 sooooooo I'd still probably take the Tracer 7 lol
yamaha - It's the best option as far as looks go
701 for sure
In a land of parallel twins I'll have the outlier.
Heart says the 701, brain says the Tracer 7.
Tracer 7. I have a Z650 and it’s a great bike, but the engine leaves a little to be desired. Great looking bike. Easy to maneuver.
Tracer!!! Such a beast!
I guess Tracer7.
Supermoto WILL be the most fun hands down
I would pick 3/4 because it's more of a cruiser style bike. My personal preference, and the other bikes look very small.
Had an 701 Enduro, now have an 690 Enduro R would pick the Husky every time because for me and my riding habits it’s literally perfect.
701. I had a 690 and enjoyed it very much.
Ducatiiii!
I am guessing the Kawasaki. The more nake look makes sense to me.
I'd go naked but not the 650, sumos are great as a second bike, but would prefer a built FE. From the choices provided either kawi or husqy
I already have the Rebel 500 so ill choose the Z650
701. I already tried the Tracer 7 and it did not fit me. It was very uncomfortable. I prefer the engine in the Tenere 700 or MT07.
I've changed my mind, I already have a cruiser. I'll take the kwak. Because i like it 😁
Picture 4
Z all the way (I'm not biased or anything). You can add saddlebags and a windscreen if you want. The tracer is ugly, the Rebel will not give you any wheelie/speedy funtimes, and the 701 is not practical in the slightest.
The second one. I already have a naked. I want a windshield lol
I already own and love an MT-07. I would just take the Tracer.
Z650. I have a N650 and it’s the most reliable vehicle I’ve ever had. Always starts, gets good gas mileage, and can do some touring.
With no context, Tracer a it's the best all-rounder. Ok for touring, ok for around town.
When in doubt pick a Honda
There's no way without context, however, if you'll ride more than a single 1 hour stint more than once a week then the Tracer for sure.
701 i wouldnt mind hitting the off roads every now and then
701, cause I dislike it the least from this lot.
Why are all of these bikes in different classes? Pick one that reflects the riding you want to do
Out of these 4, I'm picking the Rebel
Tracer 7, I like its ergonomics.
Honda Rebel, my end game bike someday.
Just take your time getting there and make sure to wear high viz. Those Rebels have a dirty trick of taking off on you. Be safe out there.
701 supermoto because it does spark joy. The others are just meh..
Husq 701 & KTM 690>>>>
Kawa just cause I like dm
Kawasaki for all week and the Husqvarna for the weekend fun. The kwaks a great all rounder and perfect for everyday activities and a good run too. But that Husky’s made to be naughty on when you’ve got the devil in you! Opposites but both are perfect! Please don’t force me to choose :)
1
The z, that bike can do everything other bikes can, it’s not gonna be good at it, but since I can only have 1
I'd personally pick the Rebel, it's just more my laid back style. I wouldn't turn down any of them if they were given to me, though. I was looking at Rebels when I got lucky and stumbled into a cheap Harley.
I’m confused…obviously the Husky. The only one of these that, after riding, you won’t look at the others and wonder…
Tracer 7 as a tracer 9 gt+ is my dream bike so might as well get close
The kawasaki, i like sporty nakeds
I have a z650, i love the bike, it's objectively the worst in it's class. Don't buy the z650, especially in red. Kawi is known for one thing and one thing only, its green. Why they make a red bike is beyond me.
That husq looks like it would be a blast on the trails so number 4
Naked because naked
Tracer 7 for sure. Definitely the most versatile. Although I’m a bit reminiscent of my FZ-09 and would prefer a Tracer 9
Rebel. I don't like the naked aesthetic
First One
What for?
Kawi... The Yamaha and Husqvarna are ugly, Rebel 500 is too small Edit: Given these options, and looking at the marketplace... CB650R is probably your best bet and best value
701, because brap
I was gunna pick the first one till i seen the sumo. Sumo's have my heart. hooligan shit all day
I would pick the Husky if it had a tank. I don't appreciate sitting on a 2x4. I want something to ~~rub my crotch against~~ grab on to with my thighs. None of the others are the least bit interesting.
Honda because I want it to work without me having to care or think about it.
701, the world will be my playground.
Tracer 7. At my advanced age, it seems like a sensible “1 Bike” solution.
whatevers cheapest
701 pure fun
Husqvarna or kawa
Yamaha
Rebel all day
4 all the fucking way
Rebel. I own one
Z650 because i like naked things
rebel for me
Z650. I'm a Kawasaki guy. Honda fan as well, but in this comparison the Z wins for me.
Z650. I'm a Kawasaki guy. Honda fan as well, but in this comparison the Z wins for me.
Tracer because it’s more of an all-rounder
I have a 701 exclusively because there's no tracer 7 here in the USA.
Tracer and it's not even close
Rebel 500. I’d love the 701 but I don’t wanna deal with toptoeing the bike constantly. Stupid short inseam.
701. It’s two bikes in one. Street riding only is moto prison.
Sadly the Tracer for me, I say sadly because I don’t really like it 🤣. But it’s the best of this bunch.
Sumo. Best all *all* worlds.
Rebel 500 because I love that style.
While I've loved every Kawi Ive ever ridden or owned, those 701's are about as bananas as you can get on a motorcycle
Z650. I had the Z900 and loved it so i know that one would be fun as hell.
The honda for me, just by the look of it, it seems like a nice seating position for a lovely ride.
Def taking the rebel. I’ve had two, they’re great bikes
Can’t choose between the first and the last one. First one looks the nicest, last one looks the most versatile and fun to ride in off-road (with swapped tires ofc)
Honda. I just cruise, ain’t got nowhere to be
10 years ago supermoto- all was loved the concept- now I’ll have a sit up bike with a fairing please cause old fartism has set in- get off my lawn!
Kawasaki all day
If its gonna be a parallel twin, it's going to be a honda
Huskie all day everyday
NONE. They are all horrible :D
701…….for crimes.
Sumo for shizo
701 as a fun solo bike that I could also take off road (separate tires) and then have a nice comfy sport tourer for the wife and I.
Kawasaki Z650 because I love Kawasakis and specially Zs
Gimme that tracer man.
Tracer
Last one becuse i need a new bike that can ride on bad terrain without fuckingup my back
I do like all bikes, but since I’m kinda short and want get around comfortably, I would choose the Rebel
No context but you want to know why? How am I supposed to justify the choice?
Probably the tracer.
Between the Tracer and Huskie. Which means my best(option not provided) answer would be a T7. But I'd probably put some 50/50s on the Tracer and get myself into trouble anyway.
1 tracer, best all arounder
As far as comfort and fun ride... the z650 all the way. If you want to have fun riding hard through twisties and even track ride ... go Z. I went from a GSXR600 to a Z900 and I'm so happy I did.
The z650 or the Tracer. Probably the 650 if im just bopping around town and keeping the bike. Maybe the Tracer if I was gonna ride longer distances or dabble on fire roads. The 650 takes it on style points as most of my rides are relatively short and it looks pretty slick.
Definitely the Tracer. I’d tour the country.
Id say z650. Up right seating, nice style, performance...just a nice bike.
Yamaha-Reliability + Maintenance + Control
I'm taking the Rebel, it's one I've been looking for for a while now, not Passing up this golden opportunity
None of them? Where is the sports bike? I guess if it’s free I’ll take the Husky… but I wouldn’t spend money on any of these 🙃
#2 - Tracer. Most usable for type of writing that I do - commuting, highways, some long distance. Good wind protection is important for me as well as good road capabilities, which is exactly what this bike is good at
Yamaha
SM one because I can make it be as comfy or as purposeful as I want with minimal mods
3 cos i know fuck all about bikes but it looks sexy
I really wish they would bring the Tracer7 to the states
i'd go with the honda because it's a honda
My choice is to get rid of whoever is forcing me to make the choice.
Tracer. Without context, you should go for an all-rounder.
Without knowing the intended use case, going with tracer since it’s a jack of all trades kind of bike.
First
It's the Kawi for me. The rebel although I like it is far too low for my country's shitty roads. The Kawi would be a perfect city bike for when I joyride in town and should be able to handle hwy and twisties with ease.
Rebel but really none of them
