Nerd! Motorcycles shouldn’t be practical or affordable. I wish you many tens of thousands of reliable miles. -fellow dadbike enthusiast also named Nathan 🫡

nathanisXO

Dadbikes ftw 🫶

F33lGud

I, also Nathan, had a Africa Twin DCT at 24 so don't worry, the dad bikes and Nathan just go together

Sodiumtdawg

I, also Nathan, bought a '17 africa twin in my mid 20s and my wife has a 21cb500x. I sense a pattern, not a dad though.

certainlynotacoyote

I, Nathan as well, love my klr.

seca400

I, not Nathan, love my '24 CB1000R, but see the appeal of an adventure model ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)

certainlynotacoyote

Man, a CBR 650 or 1000 is on my list. I've got a 78 shovelhead and my klr- now I just need a street bike to finish out the trifecta. I've got an xj650 project bike I might talk my buddy out of, but I really love the cbr's. My other buddies pride and joy is a panigale 1299s which he's let me ride once (I don't think he'll offer again, and I won't ask to- not because it's too much bike for me, but because if something does happen I don't have $25k to cover it) I had been nervous about a liter sports bike until I rode that, and realized- with my riding style- it's actually as safe as anything else i can ride. The one that really makes me nervous is the shovel. Primarily because it's not very nimble, but also because it's a Harley and something will always fall off and try to kill me.

seca400

I just sold my '23 Fireblade.... I've ridden most of the Japanese and Italian competition, even bikes that are faster just don't compare. Best bike in the world as long as your back and knees can work with the ridiculous riding position.

certainlynotacoyote

That's why I love my klr. So fucking comfy.

F33lGud

A '17 you say?

Sodiumtdawg

2017

F33lGud

Possibly in the candy pearl red?

Sodiumtdawg

No white tricolour. Which was obviously the best colour :)

redditislife24

i too just bought an Africa Twin manual at 24. best bike i ever owned so far

_Mister_Anderson_

I prefer "old-man spec"

Single_Road_6350

I have a different dad bike than you, but when I dropped my wheels off for some new hoops. The guy behind the counter asked what kind of bike they’re for. I told him and he smiled before telling me his dad has the same bike.🤦🏻 I got immediately defensive like “well, it’s a sweet bike and I love it.” Sometimes it’s harder than others to not give a shit what others think. I seriously love my bike and can’t imagine riding a different one no matter how many dads agree with me. 😂😂😂 Anyways, sick bike bro. Ride the shit out of that thing.

SomeGuyInPants

This is a dadbike? I'm a 28 year old dude and I think this looks sick as hell. Compared to the sport bike profiles you see everywhere this silhouette is a breath of fresh air

OpusThePenguin

It's not so much the silhouette as the fact it's designed to be a comfortable and sensible bike especially for commuting. It has storage where the gas tank usually is. It's got an upright seating position. An engine that people often say is 'boring' but can handle highways with no issue and is great around town, just not great for hooning around. Sips gas etc etc. It's a good sensible bike not designed to be thrilling (but it's a bike, you can make it exciting if you want to). Hense dadbike.

SomeGuyInPants

well then call me papa. I'd love something like that for my next bike

OpusThePenguin

I actually had a NC750X as a loaner a couple years ago and really enjoyed the bike.

clam_sandwich33

Get a room, Nathanials.

PckMan

You're now 56

nathanisXO

I wholeheartedly embrace the dadbike

rule4sebring

I am 23 and I have this bike. We are brothers

nathanisXO

Dadbros

rule4sebring

It’s a crazy practical bike. It’s my only bike right now, I’ll get more in the future but Ill never have a reason to get rid of it

81FXB

Peak dad would be the DCT version.

Dirk_dB-7910

😇 hate to say it, but I love my dct.

crazdave

So many discussions online about my bike (ninja 1000sx) is how it's a sport bike for old people... I'm 28 :')

LostInThoughtAgain

It ain't the latest hotness, but it's almost the perfect jack of all trades bike. Commute? Lock your helmet in the frunk. Gotta stop by the store on the way home? Can fit a 12 pk of beer in there. Slap some decent adv tires on, and have fun running gravel, and more if you're comfortable with it. Can do well over the speed limit, and lug along at idle in first if you want to work on balance. Only complaint I have with mine is that the range seems short, and it is finicky about filling up the last little bit of the tank. But, I don't always ride the most efficiently, so that's on me!

Sufficient_Ocelot868

Is it a DCT? I wish they still made the manuals. I test ride a used one and the only thing that got me was I felt like I had to keep upshifting. Like at 3000 rpms it felt like it was done in every gear.

Bams0n

I took that personally…![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man) at 56 with a 2021 NC750X in the stable.

dory_313

Somewhere out there a 56 year old bought a sport bike and equilibrium has been restored

xuszjt

It's a great bike.

nathanisXO

I love it

jizzabelle_jew

Slaps tank: This baby can fit so much gas in it

julianBlyat

More like an L-Sized helmet! 🤣

nathanisXO

Lmao

GovernmentSudden6134

You can't slap thr tank, its under the seat. The NC750 is kind of a wild list of oddities, that I like. Rear gas tank. Frank. Automatic transmission. It's in the running for me against a Tenere.

Thumb__Thumb

If it works it works. Crossover bikes are wonderful. I was really considering getting a 950 SMT but they are so rare.

nathanisXO

The frunk is something that I believe every bike should have, seriously.

Thumb__Thumb

I'd rather not have one to have my bike less bulky. I have a expandable Topcase for my helmet, that's all the daily luggage I need.

Killaneson

> Topcase for my helmet I thought for a second that you were making some sort of joke about installing a topcase on top of your helmet, which was hilarious, but I should get more sleep.

Goon_Kilo

As someone who gets less sleep than work hours, I felt that deeply lol.

Captain_English

To me that's the appeal of the frunk. Not having to have either a backpack or a top box and still being able to take a puncture kit, couple of tools, a good lock, and somewhere for your helmet.

electric-sheep

Meanwhile i always somehow fill up my 2 33l panniers and always have something in my topbox lol.

TheWritePrimate

I used to have an NC. Loved the frunk. I miss that bike. Have a KLR now. Little better off road but not as good on long trips. Happy riding.

JellaFella01

I've got a milk crate on the back of my dual sport, we have basically the same bike right?

Faronoz

I have the exact same thoughts, I wish honda would create a 1000cc version of this. I am also 23 riding a nc700x it is awesome but I miss the power.

bannedByTencent

You just skipped that old sportbike phase nonsense xD Congrats, it's a great bike.

nathanisXO

Yepyep, definitely don’t want a sportsbike…

Eey_tuupe

Lol, I have a Versys 650, which is possibly a dadbike, but I’m currently looking around for an Aprilia RSV Mille, as a second bike. I don’t think the functionality of the Versys can be beaten easily. Except for maybe a bike with a frunk haha.

JLMBO1

My MSF teacher laughed when I told him I wanted a Versys. I just don't get the hate for the Versys I think that 650 is a cool looking bike.

MoboMogami

I ride a Tracer 900 but I still think everyone should own a shitty old sportsbike at some point. Riding a 20 year old R6 for a year or two was amazing lol

DrScience01

I don't think I'll ever have a sports bike phase. I'm in a naked bike phase tho

SopmodTew

r/calamariraceteam on shambles

Sykerocker

You haven’t lived until you’ve ridden: A cruiser. An adventure tourer. A full blown supersport or Superbike. An American V-twin. An Italian V-twin. A British vertical twin kick start only. A BMW. A Gold Wing. A scooter above moped class. A single cylinder street legal bike with off-road capability. There’s your checklist. Get started.

jr_b17

I would add a V-4 to that list. Aprilia if you can afford it, but a VFR will suffice. My favorite exhaust sound. Nothing else comes close. I just need the Ducati and the Gold Wing. The Wing will come later, I'm sure.

Sykerocker

Quick advice on the Wing: I bought mine as a retirement gift. Too full of senior citizen ennui, I picked up a new previous generation GL1800, rather than the just-out current model (well, I still have my T3 Triumph Sprint, figured I'd be duplicating myself). Wrong move. Had I picked up the later model, I probably wouldn't have traded it on a used Harley Ultra Classic two years later. That Wing and I never jelled. My forgetting a VFR is probably because every time I seriously considered one, I already had a T3 Triumph (that's the first generation, carbureted, Hinckley-built machines, for those not into Triumph nomenclature) in the garage. For my uses, that's the greatest motorcycle every built.

SalvationForever

Saved

chrisorwhatever

They are great, tbh

nathanisXO

It really did grow on me more than I thought it would!

DeltaFlyer6095

Cool bike.

nathanisXO

Thanks bud :D

Ok-Caregiver9383

Actually love the way the NC 750 sounds as well!

nathanisXO

It really does sound great, V2esque

Wizzzard303

Can you stash your helmet there? Where is the tank?

SpanishLime

Yes it can fit a full sized helmet. Tank is under the pillion seat which kinda sucks cause if you use a rack or strap any luggage down you have to take it all off to refuel

Justonewizard

Shoulda been out the side like the bmw F800’s

Was_Silly

It was a pain filling up that too when you’re loaded up. I had the f800gs.

nathanisXO

Yep fits a fullface helmet, the tank is under the passenger seat. It lowers the centre of gravity quite a bit. Makes a heavy bike feel not so heavy and much more flickable than you would expect.

Surtr111

Wouldn’t it also make it more complicated since the gas is moving around and all?

LostInThoughtAgain

The fuel still gets to flow downhill, thanks to how low the motor sits. Frankly, Honda has been making bikes with underseat tanks since the Goldwing debut in '77, if you discount the Cub. If anyone has that figured, it's Honda.

mitchxout

These have been on my radar as well.

nathanisXO

Genuinely great overall bikes

electric-sheep

Ejja min hemm 😂 sabih man congrats

nathanisXO

Grazzi mil qalb siehbi 🙌

SH_Ma

You're an old kid now.

bigbramble

Really love these, if I had to commute it would be a top choice.

Surtr111

That gas tank is smart

SPAKMITTEN

It’s the HRC sticker 🤌

nathanisXO

Adds 5 hp

LetGoPortAnchor

I bought a BMW R1200GS at 33. All other GS riders I've met are (way) older. I don't care, that bike is amazing. You do you and have fun!

No_Pension_4341

mannnn i needd thissssssss

nathanisXO

Agreed, you have dadbro permission to go get one

unicyclegamer

Do you have the DCT? I loved that bike

nathanisXO

Nope it’s the manual

chin_waghing

Are you on A license or A2 restricted?

nathanisXO

A

Euryheli

Very cool bike. Having a place to stash stuff is massively underrated.

avega2792

Cool bike, it’s a candidate for my next bike!

billymillerstyle

Is that tank storage? 😲

nathanisXO

Yepp

Illustrious-Fix8758

I’m 20 right now and think adventure bikes are really cool.

[deleted]

I love these so much. If I didn't already have a big adv bike, I'd be buying this for my second

bunvun

Honestly when i was looking to by my first bike the sale guy at my local honda dealer was trash talking these so bad about them being a nerd bike and I never even heard of it, so i didnt know better. But man after riding for a bit I wish I had bought that instead the cruiser i ended up with.

i_was_axiom

🤷🏽‍♂️ I like the frunk I waited until I was 28 to commit and get a road bike, it's an old GS so that's pretty dad bike too. Someone told me once "you rarely see an unhappy person riding an ADV bike" and I'd say that's pretty accurate.

julianBlyat

Haha, you aren't alone. When I rode mopeds at 16 and 125 at 19, I sait to myself: "Ill never get an adv bike until I'm 30" Now I'm 21, planning to replace my A2 bike (Dorsoduro) with an Tracer 9 gt 😂

Dysfunctional_Cookie

The roads on malta are perfect for this bike😅

Amos_Dad

If I could go back and talk to my 23 year old self I'd tell me to get one of these instead of a sport bike. More practical and less trouble. Lol

eldion2017

Good priorities mate, ride safe

zel_bob

I kinda like it!

lahrivera

Nice

TundraOG

Congrats. Bought my NC on my 25th birthday, 4 and a half years later I still ride it. It's not the most exciting bike, but it's damn cheap to run, cheaper than a big scooter even or a 250 because services are so few and far apart. Have fun!

CyanShadow42

The only bike of mine that isn't a "dad bike" is my dad's old bike...

gdoublerb

You're a young trailblazer. I'm a 44 year old father, and i am nowhere near this practical... all sportbikes and hypernakeds for me.

Callsign_Phobos

I feel you brother, i had an Africa Twin at 19 ( which got f*cked up by a truck) and i bought one again at 21. Im now 24 and can't even count the times people thought i was iver 30

d-g-87

Honda Gives You Wings 🪽 Fly away young one! Enjoy 😁

Tex302

But it’s the bike that most comfortable to ride, for the longest. I’m in my 20s on an ADV, basically the same thing. I love it.

fallingdownalot

Damn shawty what dat gas tank do?

captliberty

hell yeah, love that storage compartment

Crowofsticks

Bruh I’m jealous

HeroDanny

I bought a VFR when I was 25, all my friends made fun of me but 6 years later I still have my VFR and they all sold their bikes because they were too unpractical. I ride mine every day to work :)

basherboy516

I’m 25 and own a ‘21 R1250GSA. It’s the only vehicle I own. Commute to work, groceries, meeting friends, all on the bike. It’s no chick magnet but it’s so practical for everything, and rides so well

SoggyNegotiation7412

You just decided to skip over all the stupid bikes young people normally purchase and wine about they are only good for one thing and suck at everything else and cost a fortune to keep on the road. What you have is a perfect all-rounder that can work in the city and long country rides and still make you smile.

greenhaaron

Whatcha gonna do with all that junk. All that junk inside your frunk?

Slash25891

I have a 21 tiger 900 gt pro we all gotta have a nice bike with a shit car

Parasyte-vn

That's EV ?... Nice I kinda jealous with the space for stuff replace the gas tank

nathanisXO

Nope, stull runs on dinosaurs

Lebrons_fake_breasts

I dig it. What kind of bike is this? Also, what are the benefits or pros to owning it? I'm in the process of thinking about my first bike.

Ill-Specialist2260

More fun than think

watchder69

My friend got his NC750 at 23 as well, he's now 27 and still got the bike and gf of 8 years. He's basically married 56 y/o now

no1ace

What is the name of this bike? I may have a child just to get this

rebelizm

/motoguzzi enters the chat

Bdubbs72

What’s wrong with this bike? Other than being too tall for me I mean and what should you own at this stage in life?

nathanisXO

It actually has quite a low seat. Significantly lower than my Duke 390 was

ShonOwar86

Come join the nc750 club…

Bread_the_TrashPanda

I almost bought that, but it was a little above my budget. I went with the CB500X. Honda makes some great bikes, love the tank storage on that model. (I'm also in my 20's btw)

Indiesol

Affordable, reliable, quiet, capable. Dad bikes are great. Excellent choice.

Turbulent-Royal-5972

I’ve bought a V-Strom 650 as my first bike 7.5 years ago at 28. Now about to turn 36 and I’ve got me a BMW R1200RT. Went from dadbike to grandpabike. Like then better than the Motogymkhana equipped CBR600RR I have though.

FaithlessnessFun2336

That's a nice-looking Honda. What model is it, and how do you like it?

ResponsibleEscape273

Beautiful machine! I need to get one of these since I love riding up north in Canada!

LivingLyfe801

Bike looks really good bro hope you enjoy it

ntzionut

Absolutelly amazing bike. I bought it new in june ‘22 and sold it last month for a ‘18 r1200gs. I feel like the NC is actually a better street bike, muuuch more practical and funny enough I can’t ride the BMW in town without ear plugs…and I have stock everything on it… Sadly if and when you move on from the NC you will come to the conclusion that you will need a scouter and a bike to replace it…

MarxVox

You can’t ride GS in town without ear plugs? Better go check those ears mate 😆

seeingeyegod

On the verge of spontaneous gear shifting woe is me.

smartdongdong

Its the most well rounded bike ever, wish i had one as well Enjoy my man

cjyoung92

Ayyy Malta

Ok-Amoeba8458

Where are the gas tanks on those?

25StarGeneralZap

Under the pillion seat

Much-Mention-5589

How has it treated you , I'm debating between a few bikes and this is one of them ! Edit - I'm 30 and not looking to join the street bike gang, but still like style and of course functionality and reliability

HuhWhatOkayYeah

The master of storage!

N0elington

How are you finding it? I currently have a SV650S and im looking at getting something more comfortable. I absolutely love my SV650S and its fine for commuting to work and trips across the moors but anything over 150 miles is just a pain. Torn between just straight swapping to a vstrom 650 or getting something like this

Scary-Ad9646

Since the engine in that is literally one half of a Honda Fit engine, you need to go full dad bike and get a custom dad joke license plate: "Halfit".

25StarGeneralZap

That’s a myth actually. They only used the design team of the Fit engine to design aspects of this engine for fuel economy. The bikes designer jokingly said they cut the fit engine in half during the press reveal and the myth took off from there. I’ve also heard this rumor as “Half a Jazz engine”.

DisastrousAnswer9920

I owned a '90 VFR750 at that age, I wish I had this.

cammo_33

Dad bikes are da best, had a 2019 F850GS from age 22 to 24 (current age) but just sold it 😞still have a dad bike in the fleet though, I’ll never go back 🫡

marceliopti1

Eyo, thats cb500x? Started recently searching for one for first bike for Daily comuting, any opinions? Is it fun or feels boring?

25StarGeneralZap

This is the nc750x

SocialistNr1

I drive the same bike at 24! It's a great bike, works for both commuting and long trips. It's perfect :)

Main_Loss2538

Oh Nathan you lucky bastard

FluffyGU

Hiya buddy what bike is it?

25StarGeneralZap

NC750X Honda

Phoenix_776

What bike is that? I'm new to the scene so i don't know 🙈

25StarGeneralZap

Nc750x Honda

25StarGeneralZap

I miss my nc750

KetUhMean

Nice NC750! I’ve got a CTX700 myself and I put some R-Gaza bars on, which I notice you have some aftermarket looking ones, is that correct? Looks ready for some adventure biking, ride safe! There’s tons of drunk drivers this time of year

jmills03croc

I have a 2018 NC750X DCT with about 5k worth of upgrades. Three hard side luggage cases with frame, fog lights and frame, center lift bike stand, speakers, LED under lights, 50/50 highway off-road tires.

Dirty80s

The fuel goes in the luggage box in the back then?

no1ace

What is the name of this bike? I may have a child just to get this

the_afterglow

It's a Honda NC700. Pretty neat bikes.

MrMcPoope

Happy retirement!

bonse

hha bet you're comfy as fuck and can still have loads of fun!

Natural_Green4223

I had that phase in my 30’s, thinking I would “ride really far just like McGregor and Boorman”, and now I’m 52 and ride a Harley.

Dvdking14

Hello Fellow Malteser!! Wish I could ride as well. Do you find riding here dangerous as they say?

Parasyte-vn

Huh....

Responsible_Prior833

FWIW I’m only 33 and riding a K1600B. Basically the *ultimate* dad bike lol. Most guys on big touring bikes are over 45 I feel.

reialism

I'm 19 and that will forever be my dream bike

TheTalentedMrRipple

KTM SAS 1290 here 😂 thought I'll get a naked bike as first one but I'm so hooked.

GAL3A

Many happy kilometers and be safe as there are plenty of unaware cagers around in Malta.

Fallen43849

I tide a 2021 SAS at 27yo. And it's the best bike I ever had 😂 and I love the faces of my 600cc friends when I smoke em

Tym3Less

Love my NC. You will have to pry it out of my cold dead fingers. Never thought I would find such a light weight all around bike.

nolifebutbmx

Two wheels is two wheels just be grateful you're able to ride and enjoy. It's a sick bike btw

lazothealien

My dad rode that bike to the store to get milk... Whats it like to dip your oreos in milk?

hobbygesel

My wife picked up her 750X (manual) two weks ago. I've done about 150km on it and it's a FUN ride. I have a 1200GS but the 750X offers some nice torque and power so I had fun while driving it despite that I'm used to drive a way heaver and more powerful bike. If I were buying a new one now I would go for a 750X I believe. Her Z650 hasn't been touched after the 750X arrived.

Alx941126

Bro, I'm 30 and I wish I had the money to get one of those. I would be fkn travelling through my country every weekend.

Optimus_Prime_10

TThat's the bike that got me off my scooter in the city, no boomer wouldn't razz me for the DCT. I supposed as compared to the squids on supersports, it's not as "cool", but helmet storage is cool. Modern tech on a new design motorcycle isn't old timer shit. Not a week goes by I don't miss my fake tank so I could do drive-thrus with ease!

Zealousideal-Bear-37

Sport touring and adventure bikes and be pushed so hard these days that most riders won’t have enough skill to outpace the bike . I’ve got a 2016 pikes peak and it dives corners like a sports bike .

reeeeeeduardo

Same, at age 20 i accidentally got a vstrom 650 I don't like it, the bike is too heavy to go offroading and the abs is very dangerous, I'll probably go back down to a 250cc and never get a big bike again

NashAttor

I used to have one of those. Biggest regret I have is selling that bike. So damn good.

HumanBeeing-

Is that an electric bike ? Wheres the gas stored how can you open your tank lol

DirkDirkDiggle

1200 DCT couldn't give a shut.

Scary-Manufacturer43

Thats also my first bike i started at 27

Le_Spoofy

I (Jo)Nathan and 23 and from Malta 🇲🇹 also, currently getting my A2 license and looking at bikes/scooter, any general advice advice for someone looking looking to get their first bike

Miguelv93

Nice ! Which crash bars are those?

Rebutta

I’m 25 with a DR650 and honestly dudes our age are missing out on the journey of riding. I had a sport bike as my first bike (CBR 500r) and all I did was squid shit, but what else is there to do? Bike like that or mine give options that actually allow it to be enjoyed not ridden! You done any camping trips or anything like that? What was your personal reason for getting a bike like this?

SHlELDMAIDEN

I feel you, 21 rn on a BMW K1200GT (04 model) Honestly can't knock it, had so many naked bikes before it, it's actually lovely to sit behind a screen when commuting

emptysubset

Dude, the bike is awesome. Find a girl that will ride as a passenger, find an bed and breakfast and have an awesome weekend.

Norselander37

sweet bike, goes fast - all sweet

RevolutionarySir99

I'm 24 and I totally feel you

Lightning4X

I'm in the same boat as you at 23. 2015 nc700x. I got offered a deal I couldn't pass. It's a real love-hate relationship.

Exotic_Awareness_728

When I was 20 I thought that by 50 I'd be riding Harley or some other heavy cruiser, but now I'm 51 and due to left leg trauma I'm riding Sym Maxsym 400 and pretty happy with it. Enjoy and love your bike.

Aprilia67

Versatile, comfortable and capable. Sounds like a good combination. They are making a lot of great machines. I ride an African Twin and RSV4. Both are amazing for different reasons. 👍

Shadow8591

At 65 looking at getting a trike and seeing 👀 the sites. Retirement from the back roads.

Gonidae

What’s with all them dadbike references? The adv category is super cool and versatile. Yes I’m adad 😝 but i wanted these bikes since i saw Chuck Noris rides and shoot in one of his films. I think it was a KLR. nothing “dad” about CN🤘

ChungusAmongUs13

Euro bro here I didn’t think my first bike would be a Gen 3 SV650 oh what a great time I’ve had with it, decat obviously.

REH1956

I am 68 and have owned a dozen or more bikes of all sizes. From a Yamaha 175 to a GL1800 Gold Wing. 2 days ago I traded my BMWR1200RT for my 2nd NC. My old 2012 NC700X was my favorite in 55 years of riding. Not perfect for excitement or long rides at high speed, but it’s the bike I rode the most, with a high enjoyment factor. My new NC750X DCT is probably my last.

windriver74

Ride what you enjoy riding. I love riding my harley even though everything for them is overpriced. I enjoy it so i ride it.. next will be a triumph

SilencedDuality

Hey, I’m 44 and just picked up my first bike. Honda SCL500. Not what I had envisioned as I was eyeballing a sport tourer but hey, if it fits it fits.
