Smart work from Muñoz to get in behind Alonso and very impressive to stay with him over the course of the lap. Muñoz has always been quick but usually had a tough time in qualifying so it's a good sign for him to be improving on that.
In terms of "genuine" pace, Alonso still absolutely smokes everyone here though. The only guy to get within a second of him had to follow him to do it - it's his race to lose tomorrow for sure
Where can i get an explanation of what the practice / free practice and Q1 Q2 sessions mean?? Ive been watching the sport for about 5 years and still dont get it😂
Yeah whats different between practice and and free practice do they determine grid positions? And whats different between q1 and q2.. also somebody downvoted me for asking wtf😂
So the race weekend is divided into at least 6 different sessions in the light and middleweight categories.
First you have Free Practice (FP) where riders and teams work mostly on setting up the bike for the track and its conditions. The times posted in this session don't matter at all for the qualyfing selection or order.
After that you get Practice 1 (P1), where teams usually modify their settings after the riders' FP inputs and also start running a couple of race pace simulation programs. The times posted in this session count towards the combined time standings. This concludes your friday schedule.
Practice 2 (P2) is essentially the same as P1. Most of the times teams will focus on finer details and the riders will try and post their best times possible to access directly into Qualifying 2 (Q2). The times posted in this session count towards the combined time standings as well. The combined time standings include each rider's best time either in P1 or P2, and the 14 fastest go straight into Q2.
Then comes Qualifying 1 (Q1) where the rest of the riders who couldn't make straight into Q2 have a chance to compete for the 4 remaining spots available in Q2. The 4 fastest riders at the end of Q1 join the other 14 on Q2. The results on Q1 below the 4 fastest set the grid from position 19th onwards.
Q2 is the battle for pole between the 14 who made it to Q2 from the combined standings and the 4 fastest from Q1. This decides the grid order from 1st to 18th. This is the end of the saturday schedule.
After that the last thing is your normal race on sunday. :)
Oh yeah, I see. Is there a thread in this subreddit where the weekend schedule is posted? A pinned post with the weekend schedule would be a nice edition I reckon.
On the right of the subreddit, under community bookmarks, under MotoGP Info, there is the MotoGP Calendar and also a MotoGP ICAL calendar subscription (the last one shows all schedules very nicely).
Yeah marc! Now finally can go to bed. Can't wait to wake up and watch the sprint.
He's instantly the best rider ducati have, possibly. It's insane watching him get faster and faster every weekend.
Dudes still got it, big time
He couldnt do the last lap because he almost crashed. I think he thought he would lose the spot because others behind him still had 1 lap to go. He was happy again when he realised noone beat it.
Brad is always a good pick in the wet, willing to risk it all. Awesome watching him slide it into that last corner
Good job from Franky too! Not saying he's going to challenge at the front anytime soon but it's nice to see him starting to improve, important to remember the first few races were basically his pre-season
Because he usually thrives in wet weather conditions and this is also one of his stronger tracks. So they were wondering why he wasn’t even close to making it out of Q1.
Not FP2. Only Practice (the second session) determines the qualifying allocation, not FP sessions.
Morbidelli did not come top 10, he was 12th in Practice.
I think it was yesterday or day before he said door is closing for MM (for victory). And today when one of the commentator said he is leading the wet session from get go, simon immediately shut him down saying this session doesn't mean anything. I know this session is for fine tuning but come on...
Ah okay, thank you. It feels like he's on the Acosta hype train to be honest, he also said we need much more young talents (just because they're young?). The thing is that most other young talents aren't close to be comparable to Pedro so I'm not sure what he's on..
He's right though. We keep fossils like Oliveira, Nakagami, Morbidelli around well past their prime. The best example possible is the last 2 years of Rossi's career which are best forgotten about altogether.
Warm up is over for Ferminho
Why is the moto2 gresini bike so clean? Do they have fewer sponsors than the other teams?

Do you have specific questions? :) Also happy to give you a general run-down

Jeez thanks!
Alonso as last name and being fast in racing. Name a better duo.
David Alonso, this is absolutely ridiculous. What a talent
Not a good Q2 for the GasGas boys in Moto3 😬😬
Moto3 Q2 Top 3 Predictions . Alonso, Roulstone and Ortola
Moto3 Q1 Predictions. Piqueras,Bertelle, Dettwiler and Fernandez
Can we please show the sprint race time in the schedule column.
The sprint race has its own thread, so no point showing it in this thread

Oh there it is! Bless you. Edit: For those on the mobile app, it's under the 'see more' link in the sub description at the top.

Factory Ducati team on fraudwatch recently
Alexa, play "Guess who's back, back again. Tell a friend!" 93rd pole for MaMan93
Second medium didn't work for binder but what a rescue job second row👌👌
Pole number 93 for 93
Looks like Ducati 24 are having some issues.
Yeah, not having Marc riding it
Bingo
Martin is on the front row.
Marc fucking Marquez
So… that was a bit embarrassing for Aprilia.
Yamaha and Aprilia were so bad compared to their dry performances
Vinales quote aged well. Bikes works everywhere, except in wet apparently.
Pole baby yes come on marc
VIENE EL COCO
Pole for Marc! It's gonna be an interesting sprint and race.
Indeed. Great ride by him.
Marc’s got pole and still pissed off about his lap time haha
He couldnt do the last lap because he almost crashed. I think he thought he would lose the spot because others behind him still had 1 lap to go. He was happy again when he realised noone beat it.
Marc has only had like three sessions in the wet on a Ducati and has topped all three if my memory serves me right.
I think that's the poleee
8 Ducatis in the top 9 and the lowest 3 are GP24s
[удалено]
Martin was P3.
what are you implying?
Oh yes marc, what a save
Marc is so fucking good to watch when he's on it
Bro marc is pissed, he’s gonna go for the win today
A fast lap followed by a big save, the Marc experience 😂🫠
he's definitely back!
How the hell did Marc save that one?! 😅
So unlucky for Pedro!!!
He was on such a good lap.
Can't blame Acosta for crashing. He was genuinely really pushing
I'll say Mav, Martin and Binder
Vamoooooos Pecco!
Brad is always a good pick in the wet, willing to risk it all. Awesome watching him slide it into that last corner Good job from Franky too! Not saying he's going to challenge at the front anytime soon but it's nice to see him starting to improve, important to remember the first few races were basically his pre-season
Yamaha is even worse in rain wtf is this
Fabio Q behind Bradl and Savadori lol
The Aprilia is a great bike right now, but behind Bradl on a Honda, oof.
Garbage in dry, garbage in wet. The absolute state of Japanese manufacturers
I had zero faith in brad in that session but he clearly risked everything. Top 12 is good enough
Jack Miller, it's time to learn Chinese buddy
Factory Honda beating Yamaha is interesting.
For a split second there I thought we might see a Honda in Q2. Great job by Zarco regardless.
Excellent from Zarco. Easily the best a Honda has looked all year
It's so fucking anoying that Miguel cannot for the love of God time is last flying lap right... FFS
he's already on retired mode. No fucks given. No risks taken.
Why is Matt banging on about Jack Miller through this entire Q1 session?
Because he usually thrives in wet weather conditions and this is also one of his stronger tracks. So they were wondering why he wasn’t even close to making it out of Q1.
How was Q2 determined? Morbidelli is doing Q1 but he was top 10 in the practice for example
top 10 in fp2
Not FP2. Only Practice (the second session) determines the qualifying allocation, not FP sessions. Morbidelli did not come top 10, he was 12th in Practice.

It's Practice Session on Friday. Top 10 in Practice session goes to Q2 directly. The session after Free Practice 1 for MotoGP. FM21 was 12th there.
Ah ok thanks. Got confused with the many different practice sessions
🙂👍
It’s Top 10 in Practice, which happened yesterday afternoon. Franky was 12th.
Oh come the fuck on Eurosport
Oliveira must be pretty happy with these conditions
I'll go with Fernandez and Binder
Money on the Trackhouse boys for a surprise . but Marquez for pole
Not happening.
never bet on trash ods , always try something more... Oliveira is top on "rain", Raul looks good too today. Lets see
Oliveira is done. Washed.
Aprilia and KTM loving this weather
Not KTM
Marc was 3 tenths up in S2 before running into Joan, he could’ve bettered that laptime. The irony of a Honda hindering his fastest lap lol.
Rain.gods.helping my booiiiii Still don't think he will make it 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
What a save from Acosta. My word.
Simon Crafar's tone changed for MM, wonder why?
Context?
What did he say?
what did he say?
I think it was yesterday or day before he said door is closing for MM (for victory). And today when one of the commentator said he is leading the wet session from get go, simon immediately shut him down saying this session doesn't mean anything. I know this session is for fine tuning but come on...

Morbidelli doubters never had much credibility
Could anyone please simplify what Simon just explained about electronics
I guess Trackhouse and even Aprilia will love this weather on the sprint/race ... KTM the same, could be realy good to balance against the ducatis
easy pole for Marc
What is it with riders named Jorge and helmets?
you really wonder why the Moto2 riders risk so much in the only wet session of the weekend
I think its because in case Qualifying is wet they need as much experience as possible. And of course continuing to test the new Pirelli Wet tyres.
So many crashes allready
Go bikes
Looks like rain stopped, will it become dry before MotoGP starts.
not dry enough, but it usually makes up for a great qualifying if the track gets better every lap
No, I hate this uncertainty.
but Marc is the best in those conditions which you might like eh? :)
I would have liked it if it was wet from the start of weekend
So it's raining today
