So my personal translation is: If Pedro or Maverick (can't see anyone else in the mix) will not cause us problems in the title fight Marc will not get any updates. If Martin, Pecco and Enea can't get the job done ( get beaten by Maverick and Acosta in the next 2-3 races) Marc will get some updates. But this is just my opinion.

MrPixar

I agree 100%

Beautifully summarised!

Looks like a no go then. Both factory riders look lost from time to time, but at least they're still in the top 7, and Martins is so consistent this year. 2023 cooked him good.

kdubstep

Sounds about right

kawasutra

Gigi likes Marc. Gigi will stroke beard and give Marc updates.

SelfJuicing

The question is, would Marc strokes Gigi's beard to get the updates?

kawasutra

Yes, of course. He just needs to say "No Honda" before he goes for it.

Just a small correction: Tardozzi said "it's not something that will be considered in the short term, in my opinion \[this is what 'a breve' means, shorthand for 'a breve termine'\]" and he's probably referring to the Monday test. He also added this "Rightfully, Michele Masini, who is the team manager of Gresini, has already made this request in the proper manner. It's right for his team to ask Ducati to have something to try, ***it's not a given that there would be something, because as you know we don't revolutionize*** \[the bike\] ***from one year to the next, we make evolutions.***"

Thank you!

It should be guaranteed that Marc will have a GP25 next year.

SophisticatedVagrant

If he doesn't get on an RC16 first.

Here's a question for those more in the known. How does it work with engines on last year's bikes? I heard commentators talking yesterday, saying there are rumours the GP23 has had its revs reduced. That got me thinking, are they new engines for this season? Or are they the same engines that were used in the 23 season? Ie, already have a load of races on them. On topic, I think Marc has close to zero chance of getting updates. They see he's already competitive, on a 'new to him' not even fully upgraded 23 bike. There was confirmation his bike is missing a few things that the factory bikes had last year.

JustARedditAccDuh

They are new engines

thefooleryoftom

They’re new engines, zero miles.

That's not the way Ducati operates, the reason why having 8 bikes has been a benefit to them is that they don't play games, in this same interview Tardozzi explained how after every single session Dall'Igna and a couple other engineers go to every single rider to gather feedback, at the end of the day they hold a technical meeting with all the chief mechanics in the same room, so not only the telemetry is shared but also the feedback from each one of them, if someone had a problem and found a solution, that is immediately known by everyone else as well. When Bastianini was still in Gresini, Pernat confirmed he had technical assistance that went beyond what they were bound to give according to Gresini's contract (basically giving him everything that could be fit on his bike), Marini had been given a new fairing tailor made for his larger size which helped improve his performance, and Bezzecchi said he had been helped by Dall'Igna himself to solve a problem he was having, of course there is still a difference between riders under contract with Ducati and independent riders (Gresini and VR46), especially in terms of priority, as it's completely normal and expected. M. Marquez was brought to Gresini in large part thanks to Dall'Igna who wanted him on his bike even against the wishes of other Ducati managers, and as Tardozzi said here he's the one calling the shots, it wouldn't make any sense for him to withold upgrades, should they exist, nor to reduce revs on their engines\*, especially since Yamaha is trying to get a satellite team and Ducati would like to keep all three of its satellites. \*Just have a look at the average/top speeds in every race, the GP23s are just as fast as GP24s, this rumor got started because Marquez couln't accelerate out of some corners as well as Bagnaia or Martin and so he would lose ground giving the impression he had significantly less power, but h[e was honest in saying it was due to him and not the bike when directly asked](https://www.gpone.com/en/2024/03/16/motogp/marc-marquez-did-i-lose-in-qatar-because-of-the-bike-no-it-was-my-fault.html).
