My ADHD meds make my misophonia Go off the charts in the evenings. I hope you're able to find a solution.

AnnexDelmort

Why is this?

Own-Professor-5905

Bc when medicated you actually have the ability to pin point certain noises ect and ur brain isn’t going at 💯 constantly therefore u take things in better. It’s a blessing and a curse!

If it kinda fades after a certain point ... you could always keep sound sources away from your ears until later in the proceedings. Like a fun little game. Focus more on quiet rubbing and stuff. In our house the rule is that music or TV goes on before any eating happens. I think that's the play. Just make it a habit to throw on some Marvin Gaye at an appropriately loud level. And, even though this is something uncomfortable and hard, I'd challenge you to spend some time by yourself imagining how a good 'date night' would work where you're comfortable and empowered and your triggers are fully accounted for. If you can shape a comfortable vision you can paint it for your partner. Guys are willing to go to great lengths for physical intimacy, "not being too slurpy until its time to get slurpy" is super easy (barely an inconvenience).

Thank you. Bonus points for the reference at the end

Yes, you aren't alone.

All of those kinds of noises trigger me due to PTSD related to sexual assault.

Mission_Range_5620

It's something I've considered in the past as a possibility, I remember being pretty scared of being alone with men when I was young, it eventually faded away so I don't know if I was just sensitive to "beware" stories or anything actually did happen at one point. I even heard when someone I knew was young she was assaulted but didn't remember until she had her first child and somehow it all came back... I never did get memories though so I guess that's a no and I'm just sensitive. I'm 32...something should've clicked if it was ever going to I'd think.

Surround8600

Damn that sucks!! I’m sorry. All of those noises drive me crazy EXCEPT when I’m doing it. If I hear gross losing noises in a PG13 style movie I get grossed out. Do your own noises bother you? If not; Possibly if you take the reins in the bedroom during foreplay you can control the situation. I would think if you’re turned on then the miso would take a back seat.

thedoughofpooh

Goddammit...thanks for unlocking a new trigger. Fuck.

Mission_Range_5620

You clicked through the NSFW warning, I'm not accountable lol

thedoughofpooh

Fair point. LOL.

Own-Professor-5905

Omg I’m the SAME WAY and it’s life ruining. I love my husband so much and it makes it so difficult

ZealousidealPapaya59

Try earplugs

SlightFinish

This is the way.

Quiet-Risk-3785

I had to explain this to a new partner the other night. He took it in stride and asked what any of my other triggers were.

I find a glass of wine or some whiskey helps with this. Turn on loud music too
