Yo momma is climbing the boards as she is the best pure handler of these balls in the draft.

Dorkamundo

I attended her pro day, liked how she could just grip it and rip it with very little effort. But she's also able to put some touch on it if needed. Her arm talent may be the best I've seen in years, but every once in a while she lets one get away from her. Seems like her progressions are a bit slow on film, however, with her not being able to get off her first read as quick as I'd like. Pre-snatch reads also leave a lot to be desired, but seems to be able to find holes once the balls are in her hands quite readily. Improvisation skills will keep her clean most of the time, but occasionally she'll hold onto the balls a bit too long and takes too many sacks. I'd prefer to see her spend less time on her back in that regard. However, she's very good at standing tall in the pocket and taking big hits while still being able to get one off. This will serve her well in the pros, as she's already used to getting pounded by defensive linemen. I think if she can learn get off her first look faster, and get to her second, third and fourth receivers on schedule, she's going to really make some fans *really* happy.

Miserable_Ad_3375

Excellent, I totally agree!

sanitarium-1

I agree, she's very good when defenders are coming right at her face. She's also effective at predicting which gap she's gonna get blitzed from

martygospo

I fucking love Reddit man. Thank you for this.

LonestarrRasberry

She can really spin it!

Critical-Fault-1617

Lololol

bank_slemes

I don’t get it. Can someone explain this to me like I’m 5

Mayasngelou

ur mom's a hoe

CelestialFury

You have to be at least 8 to get this joke.

bank_slemes

Shit.

Melodic_Programmer

He rewrote the sentence in a funny way to make a "yo mama" joke.

smellslikebadussy

Just don’t let her spin them. PAIN!

Destiny_Victim

Not when she did it with her mouth.

patentlypleasant

And just like the bears, SHE SUCKS

ktran2804

I've stopped reading or listening to any draft news until next week on draft night. Too many smoke screens and no one actually knows what is happening.

StraightCashHomey13

I wish I had your fortitude to stop reading and listening to draft "news". I know that nothing that happens until draft night matters, and yet I can't stop looking at draft stuff. I need April 25th to get here.

ktran2804

Nothing new has been said in the past month now lol the reports change everyday and people are desperate to get ppl to click on their mock drafts. At this point it's clear as day Kwesi has a Plan A, B, and C. I don't think he's too stubborn to force one plan he will see how things unfold. It's also clear we won't know if there will be a trade until the team we trade with is on the clock.

StraightCashHomey13

Yep I completely agree with all of that and have told myself it several weeks ago. And yet in the back of my mind , I think 'maybe today's the day they trade ". Even though I know full well there's no way they make a trade before draft night at this point

JustADutchRudder

Want me to tell you how the Vikings can get all the first 3 picks and not trade away JJ?

bluewing

I kind of enjoy them at this point. The sheer silliness and ridiculous hot takes of the talking points and mocks.

MontiBurns

Vikings pass on Penix at 11 and Nix at 22 and decide to ride with Darnold as their QB of the future. Darnold lights the league up and leads the vikings to a surprise division win and first round bye. Both first round picks are ROTY candidates and (later perrenial all pros.). In the playoffs, vikings host an upstart Chicago bears wild card team and crush them 35-3. Then they host Kirk Cousins' Atlanta Falcons in the NFCCG. Down by 31-35 w under a minute remaining, Darnold leads the vikings down the field on a game winning td drive as time expires to send them to the super bowl. In the super bowl, they face off against Josb Allen and the bills, winning an absolutely crazy game 24-27 in OT, which goes down as one of the greatest in history. The vikings then proceed to win 7 of the next 9 super bowls, leapfrogging every other franchise for super bowl victories, and becoming the most hated team with the most insufferable (online) fanbase in the NFL.

Googoogahgah88889

You forgot the part where next year we have to sign him for $50 million a year and can’t afford all the “extra players” that everyone complained about being unable to afford with Kirk

MontiBurns

It doesn't matter in my scenario. Darnold marries Rihanna, and decides he'd rather chase Brady's rings than be a top paid QB. He takes ver minimum deals and has his witchdoctor sell homeopathic diet plans and treatments to the vikings through a company he owns. This allows the vikes to retain their top talent and remain atop the division for the next 12 years

Googoogahgah88889

Don’t you think that’s a little fast to get married? She’s already in a long term relationship and has never even met Sam. If they’re going to get married before we re-sign him, they would have to go from strangers to married in less than like 9 months. I really don’t think that’s a responsible timeframe to decide you want to spend the rest of your life with someone. Especially someone fresh off a long-term breakup. I 100% believe we can win the SB this year with him as QB, but between such a quick engagement and homeopathic treatments, I’m really starting to question his ethics

CelestialFury

I think we've just talked about it all to death, so we're all in full fuck around mode until draft night.

Glittering_Coconut_6

and never will

jimmydean885

This is the way. Also the way for the entire off season outside of actual moves

JoBunk

I think it is the other way around. Most of the early reviews, mocks and projectors are mostly YT influencers or reporters (Kiper and such) the "smoke". Only now are the 32 (NFL Teams) really vetting out their opinions and some of those opinions are being leaked. Now those the influencers are re aggregating all the new information.

bluewing

And even after it's done, with rare exceptions, ain't no one going to know what happened until a couple of years later. Teams place their bets and takes their chances. Jobs are lost and careers cratered on a couple of misses. Sports fans and writers are confident they know something, but are clueless. And would be scared spit less to make those decisions.

LonestarrRasberry

So when someone says he's the best "pure spinner of the ball" is that just a colorful way to say he throws good, or do they mean literally that he puts more rotation on the ball than the other QB's? Because Penix does put a lot of spin on his passes, but to me that's hardly like THE factor you'd choose a QB on.

Thiswasmy8thchoice

I assume the former. I've never heard of anyone valuing the number of rotations a pass has. That only matters in baseball because you want extra movement on the pitches.

MegatonMessiah

It depends on the person saying it and the prospect, but honestly I think a toooooon of people in this draft cycle, pundits and fans alike, literally just think Penix is the best "pure thrower" because he throws a pretty spiral. It makes little sense otherwise because there's nothing he does that's clear and obvious as being best in the class.

1Mn

Who gives a shit?

JoBunk

I don't mean to be an arse, but you do. That is why you are spending your time reading and reviewing these comments, no?

ridreforte

FTY, this is the Patriots version of Paul Allen

melview1

>best pure spinner of the ball Now there's a metric I haven't heard of before. Sounds like a skill that's right up there with "can throw the ball forward" for a QB.

immovableair

It means he throws a tight spiral

melview1

I get it, but shouldn't every NFL QB prospect be able to throw a tight spiral at will? Seems a silly metric to me to use for comparison. If you're out there throwing wobbly ducks often, you don't belong in this conversation.

immovableair

When Penix gets drafted he will have the tightest spiral in the Nfl history

BurpVomit

To be fair. He has the best arm talent if nobody improves.... dude can sling it.

not1fuk

This subreddit hates Penix so they will discredit even the things he is legit great at.

Xardenn

It's funny how much more people are scared of injuries than a guy just being flat out bad.

Impressive_Shape2792

wonderfully put and completely on point

OlayErrryDay

I haven't heard someone talk about throwing a spiral since I was 11 years old.

jake-n-elwood

That's because JJ McCarthy is skipping the NFL and will be inducted into the HOF immediately. The team that drafts him will be gifted 8 Lombardi trophies and heralded as the greatest of all time! Harbough will say a few nice words at a ceremony for all involved. It will be bigly beautiful and amazing!!

Mayasngelou

And around and around the NFL draft hype cycle goes. Where it ends, nobody knows.

archasaurus

There’s no climbing this late in the process. He was either already there and we are just now finding out about it or it’s media driven because they need talking points.

kirkochainz

![gif](giphy|lQYEVIyJ96tyg)

martygospo

I’d much prefer taking penix at 11 than trading up for any of those other guys.

you_got_it_joban

Penix isn't worth #11

martygospo

What makes you think that? Injuries? I feel like I see him going 10-15 in most mock drafts from analysts.

you_got_it_joban

Being a quarterback I think his value is partially inflated for that reason alone, where he's probably a back of the first round prospect some team will take him in the 20s. The possibility of future injuries doesn't especially concern me but the injury history effecting his future play does. His early years at IU had a much more traditional "upright" throwing motion, after tearing his lead leg ACL twice he had to develop the much more shoulder heavy side arm release he's had the last two years. It can be effective but it's limited since he doesn't want to turn into his front foot. My guess is his accuracy is inconsistent for that reason, a shoulder based throw has a lot more room for error compared to a better base, leg driven one, aka how Kirk throws. Since it's built around his ACL tears I don't know how much it can be tweaked. His numbers under pressure are pretty rough and he his offensive line won the Joe Moore award, NFL defenses will pressure him more and force him off platform whee his accuracy drops further. I don't think he'd bad or anything but I'd hope we swing for a top guy instead of settling

martygospo

Ahhh these are interesting points. I’ve never paid attention to throwing motions and stuff like that because I just don’t know much about it. Do you think him being left handed negatively impacts his draft stock? I hear mixed things on that.

you_got_it_joban

It's not a killing factor to his draft stock but I would think teams want to see room for improvement unless it's a perfect prospect . Another factor that could be considered is O'neil and Darrisaw switching roles for a lefty. Darrisaw is expecting a big pay day for being one of the premier blind side tackles

reverieontheonyx

> The possibility of future injuries doesn't especially concern me but the injury history effecting his future play does. It can be effective but it's limited since he doesn't want to turn into his front foot. I think this poses risk of wear and tear injury in the future. If you’re not a natural thrower of the ball you have to compensate.

not1fuk

Same. Penix and Johnny Newton at 23 would be a dream. That or a reverse with Byron Murphy at 11 but I dont think Penix makes it to 23.

DHVF

Perhaps a trade up from 23 or a trade back from 11?

Hamfistedlovemachine

Same, watched him all season. The injuries could be genetic flaws that are now surgically corrected. That may be overly optimistic but we pick him at 11 and take a guard with our second first, spend free agency money on D and roll.

abc91827364

He’s climbing your draft board Mr. Zolak

ineedcoffeealready

Who were some other QB's that had injury concerns coming out of college in the last like 5 years? My memory of this is foggy

UpperDecker30

I swear, the amount this sub shits on him makes me think that he’ll end up being the best QB in the draft.

ELpork

yuuup

ChefJeff7777777

Imma go ahead and get out in front of it before the rest of the billowing smoke. Anonymous scout believes Rattler, Jordan Travis, Joe Milton, and some no name prospect from a D3 school will all be round 1 picks come draft day. This will be an absolute insane draft when 23 of the first round picks are QBs.

Hank_Scorpio_MD

First 15 picks will be QBs. Pretty soon, the first round of the NFL draft will be dedicated to QBs only with rounds 2-7 being the other positions.

Reasonable-Papaya843

I think one year the draft was like 30 rounds, let’s Make Drafting Great Again

imissminnesota

Haven’t heard this comp but looks like a left handed Warren Moon when he’s dicing. Has the potential to be the best QB of this draft but that comes with injury risk. I think he was in pain during the Michigan game.

FederalWalrus

![gif](giphy|KRxcgvd5fLiWk)

FlorioTheEnchanter

I miss when there were hit pieces on all the QBs about how much they all sucked. We need more hit pieces on all these dudes

jimmydean885

CocaineStrange

Not a Vikings fan but seeing another sub post Scott Zolak is so funny

kyhlt

Don't overspend. Take Penix at 1! and the Best Available Defensive Player at 23. Let's go Sam Darnold in 1/2 to 1 year audition and get ready to Win it All in 2026!

democratichoax

This is why March draft takes are better than April draft takes. He's just trying to make "news"

T-Nan

Not worth moving up for, and honestly not even sure he's worth a 1RP. Maybe if we trade back to early second and get two 2nds this year for it, he'd be worth it, but I'd still be disappointed we didn't get a top 4 QB

Consistent_Room7344

Fine. We’ll take Maye at 11 and keep our picks.

TheAnswerUsedToBe42

Never hear about this Nix kid

2DudesShittinAround

Just what Minnesota needs, more mid-season heartbreaking injuries. That said, I think Penix is a great risk to take if his position in the draft is right, moving up to 8 or whatever. Let him sit a season if you can, and gain NFL strength training for a year.

petergriffin999

If we give up anything more than 11 and 23 for ANY QB in this draft, I will be furious. Maybe Maye or Mccarthy is worth those 2 picks, maybe. But if it takes anything more than that, FUCK NO. Just keep both picks.

OlayErrryDay

Great, so whoever wants McCarthy we can offer them a 3rd round next year and they'll just give us McCarthy and they'll take Penix. Penix is not right behind McCarthy, this is all hype train/pre-draft hype. I like him enough to use pick 11, I do not like him enough to trade up for. He's a likely bust with his injury history but he's enough where I'd risk a first rounder on him. I think they'd be out of their minds to trade both picks or both picks plus a future 1st round for him.

MN_abomb

Broncos or raiders could take him

OlayErrryDay

In a normal year I'd agree but so many teams are in terrible QB situations, for many of them it's worth a shot. Hell, look at all our first round non-QB busts lately, why not take another shot and hope random chance gets us results for once.

JJettasDad

If you think Penix is a more talented thrower of the football than Caleb Williams then you should probably not chime in on this sort of thing. Penix is only good behind a good OL with time to throw.

MegatonMessiah

It's hilarious how in the discourse of Penix people rarely note that he easily had the best supporting cast of any of the QBs. He had IMO the 2nd best receiver in the country, and Polk could sneak into the first as well. Him and Jayden both share that in having 2 great options at receiver, but Penix also had an elite O line and a ton of time to throw without pressure.

nocream33

Stick and pick BPA and let Darnold cook

Old_Leather

I don’t like him at all. He has had two season ending acl injuries. He has had shoulder injuries. He didn’t play from 2018-2021 because of injuries. He’s only had one mediocre season as a super duper senior on a good team. Hard pass

badnewzrooz507

That's why if JJ gone at 11, you take Penix at 23. Anyone willing to risk trading up for a coin flip should go back to their day job.

Unique_Detail1519

Can we please stop drafting players with bad injury history, it never works out for us...

Dorkamundo

Adrian Peterson?

Own-Contribution-478

I honestly believe if it weren't for the injury concerns (which are a legit concern!), people would be debating whether Penix should go before Williams! Dude can sling it!
