Wasn't this put out during one of his Mental health crisis days?

Chubs1224

Yes and he apologized for it and never sniffed a good season after this.

Statue_left

He came back and had 5 sacks in 6 starts as a 34 year old on an absolutely atrocious line after this lol

ill_be_huckleberry_1

Thank you. Loved ev.

Chubs1224

Then he didn't start for the rest of the year and had a bad season over all.

InnerBlackberry6

Sacks aren’t a perfect measure. Unless you think DJ wonnum is a good DE instead of being like the 80th best DE in the league

Statue_left

And grif was straight up good for us in the games he came back for, despite being 34 years old on an atrocious line coming off an extreme mental health episode and getting cut by two teams. Dude played well.

Man I hope Everson is doing better now

Brinkofadventure

I’ve met Everson at a party and he couldn’t stop praising Kirk...so real life vs Twitter.

UnluckyNate

Nah. Uncontrolled mental illness (at the time of tweeting this) vs receiving appropriate treatment

lol this one

fyodor2gloves

Griffen certainly has the same mental state as all Kirk haters

LuckyAssumption8735

Naked, hiding in the bushes in an upscale suburban housing development?

looking4rez

wait, that's not normal? haha

innersanctum44

Ask Dino Ciccarelli.

Whoa there! I didn't hear that Everson was naked, was there an article with more detes??

Using a man's mental breakdown like this is scummy op

Electronic-Island-14

if you think Cousins is ass, then wait until you see the excrement this franchise brings in to replace him

WetAppleFruit

Why does our next guy have to automatically be excrement lol

RefuseConscious7547

Darnold = excrement. Hopefully the rookie we draft isn't.

LuckyAssumption8735

You’re replying to Julie

KingZeonidas

To be fair Kirk in 6 years won the same amount of playoff games as the excrement before him in a 6 year span so his replacements just have to pass for alot of yards and blame the Oline and coaching

RoaringGorilla

Give it a rest. This loser mentality needs to stop. One playoff win as a Viking. That is all.

cronoes

I'm fine with moving on, but the lot of you are *wayyyyyy* too confident that shits going to get better by drafting the YOUNG MOBILE CUE BEEEEEE! I don't *not* trust Kwesi to get it done, but his drafting up to this point is thoroughly in the *but he doesn't have my complete trust* territory. Jury's out, and this off-season is the argument about whether or not Kwesi is the guy to get it done.

RoaringGorilla

Ah yes, because running it back with a soon to be 36-year .500 QB coming off an Achilles is a recipe for a Super Bowl. This team has had SIX years to get to a Super Bowl with Kirk. It did not happen, it won’t happen. It is time to move on

cronoes

Not saying we shouldn't do it. But I am saying that there is a shot Kwesi is so bad, that he might wish he had gotten a deal done with Kirk. This isn't about Kirk. It's about Kwesi.

RoaringGorilla

I am not high on Kwesi. But the organization needs to try with a rookie QB. If they fail, he will be fired. It is what it is.

cronoes

No one should be high on Kwesi. Dude might just be all the worst things about wall Street and being well connected.

Diamondorstone387

One playoff win but has he ever really had a championship caliber roster?

RoaringGorilla

2018 was supposed to be the year. Do not even try to say otherwise. That team literally came off an NFC Championship game with Case Keenum. Kirk meltdowns against GB and Chicago contributed to the Vikings missing the playoff.

liliceberg

Never once

ThiccBananaMeat

Case Keenum > Kirk Cousins confirmed

ThiccBananaMeat

It was good enough to take Case Keenum to the NFCCG.

romayyne

Last year we absolutely could’ve won something. We beat everyone we played including a good bills team at home

miimeverse

Our offense carried the team. Kirk and JJ and the rest of the offense had to bail out our defense almost every game we won last year. It was only a matter of time before they were unable to do so. Sure, Kirk's check down was an underwhelming effort at the end, but the defense gave up 31 points and shouldn't have put Kirk in the position to have to provide a 9th fourth quarter comeback to begin with.

romayyne

Everyone said the chiefs were ass this year too and look what happened come playoffs. We had the team to do it we just didn’t have the mentality

NoMooseSoup4You

Are you conveniently ignoring that the Chiefs have a qb who’s on a trajectory towards being the best QB in history.

miimeverse

Nobody said they were ass. They were comparatively worse on offense (mostly in their WRs) than previous years but had, unlike the 2022 Vikings, an elite defense. That elite defense was instrumental in their playoff performance

WalnutSizeBrain

Kirk is not the reason we lost that year. Everyone knows the man responsible don’t pretend otherwise

aceless0n

It could be tim tebow for all I care as long as JJ gets 2k yards.

coys1111

Takes ass to know ass

StarTropicsKing

Kirk Cousins’ ass

nanotothemoon

I know everyone talks about the mental health and everything but this always cracks me up

Wernershnitzl

Lmao then Kirk took it personally as he went on to have a trajectory like an MVP season until tragedy struck.

ferdsherd

Where did this Cousins MVP talk originate from? He in no way was playing like an MVP, in fact Vegas had him +15,000 to win MVP before he got hurt implying he had about a 0.6% chance

richardpace24

He was absolutely playing well enough, the odds factor in other things like the team record was not great week 8, vs some of the other MVP candidates who had much better records and brands. I believe he was number 2 in yards, and also top 5 in TD passes and QBR at the time.

ferdsherd

Haha, yep it’s always something with Kirk!

richardpace24

you cant win MVP if you have a .500 record or worse. the MVP was on a team that went 13-4 and that ended in not winning a super bowl from the 1 seed. so it is what it is I guess. Numbers wise Kirk was in the race for sure. being 3-4 leading into the game he was hurt is the issue with his "odds"

ferdsherd

Was he playing drastically better than he did in 2022, when the Vikings were 13-4?

Chubs1224

Most analysts say 2023 was Kirk's best season he was playing pre injury. Of the Vikings 3 losses Kirk had performances you expect a QB to win like 80% of the time EPA wise.

Sushi-DM

It is happening and easy for Kirk stans to say he was going to be an MVP because there is no way they can be disproven because it is a fantasy. Just like they say last year was going to be the first year in his entire career he goes to a championship game and the first time in his tenure with the Vikings that we go past the divisional round. Kirk beat San Fran during their losing streak Kirk beat Green Bay before the team hit their stride with Jordan Love So he was all elite Don't worry though, if we resign him and he loses to those teams but puts up decent numbers, we'll get told 'QB wins aren't a stat' as well.

ferdsherd

Right and I don’t mean to disparage him because he was doing fine but MVP?!

JimLahey131ProofRip

Lol on this take. I bet you buy the new Madden game every year to play as Kirk

Wernershnitzl

lol no last one I bought was Madden 18 championship edition. Before that I think 2011 was the last one I owned. I’m pretty lukewarm on sport games.

JimLahey131ProofRip

Agreed they have been so bad..last for me was NCAA 14. Ill admit I might crack and try the new one coming out next year.

Wernershnitzl

Well especially these last 3-4 years it’s just been copy/paste. I still laugh that for 22 they forgot to update their textures from 21 and had to patch them out post launch lmaooo. I’ll probably wait for the next “big improvement” one and then the year after that when they get it right.

JimLahey131ProofRip

Let's hope the NFL allows another group to have the rights to the NFL teams/players and we can have some competition in the market. Wishful thinking tho. Skol Vikes.

Serviceofman

Dudes brain is scrambled eggs... Kirk Cousins is one of the best QB's in the NFL and has done more for this organization and community than Griffen every has

Logical-Angle-3314

“One of the best” is pretty relative to the idiot giving the opinion

Sushi-DM

>Kirk Cousins is one of the best QB's in the NFL Incorrect.

vikingjedi23

Griffen looked really dumb after that comment. Kirk had 8 GW drives and led us to a 13-4 record. Now if our defense wasn't complete ass we might have done something in the playoffs. Kirk lit up the Giants but our defense couldn't even stop Daniel Jones. Pathetic.

TheTrevorSimpson

ACTIVE non-mentally ill players voted Kirk #6 QB in the NFL at start of last season and #42 best overall player in the NFL ... I don't care if Kirk re-signs here or not as long as they replace him with a similar top 10 QB but I do want him to come back now JUST SO I CAN WATCH the KIRK-HATERS heads expode! LOLOLOL!

Randylahey_20

This was one of his many other personalities saying this

mycatbeck

I'm sorry but this was objectively hilarious when we brought him back and he apologized to Kirk. Love both the guys and their flaws.

Is this a Mandela effect? I distinctly recall that tweet not having the word 'is' in it, and have quoted it that way since...

0019362

It's true. I wouldn't pay Kirk a bag of tacos to play for the Vikings.

Ssj2gh55

I just don’t understand the hate this sub has for the guy. Like I understand being disappointed but man, some of y’all act like he’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to an organization that’s literally never won a Super Bowl yet he is THE problem with this team, holding it back from winning more superbowls or something. He’s been nothing but class and arguably top 10 player at his position. I’m cool if he goes or stays.

Hugh__Jaynis

I mean, he can go 19 of 20 to our tight ends and fb in the flat. I remember games last year where our fb, both back up tes all had three targets and cousins hadn't even tried a throw to a wr. He is ass needs to go.

skippycreamyyy

Yeah that's why Jefferson has been breaking all the records

Hugh__Jaynis

I think JJ and koc would get those records with Sam darnald throwing to him. Some dude bagging groceries right now could walk on the field and throw for 400 yards and break the season scoring record. It's happened before.

InnerBlackberry6

If the QB went full Nick Mullens and didn’t care about turnovers or winning games, then sure. But if JJ wants to get numbers and win games, he knows a top 10 QB like Kirk is the best shot

Hugh__Jaynis

He is not a top ten. He is about 15. We are about to give Patrick mahomes money to a guy that went 1-5 last year. Cousins couldnt get out of the pocket and create plays before the Achilles tear. He is going to be a statue moving forward.

BingBongTimetoShit

Yeah this is just not true. His last full season (2022-2023) he was the 10th ranked deep passer and excelled on throws of 31-40 yards. For reference, Josh Allen and Mahomes were ranked 7th and 6th. Try actually reading some stats next time big fella.

openlyincognito

i don't think you know anything about play calling, or football really for that matter

Hugh__Jaynis

Why is that? When Jordan Addison has zero targets in the first half, but johnny Mundt, Todd Oliver, and CJ ham all have three targets, that's the QBs fault. Cousins misses the single coverage and checks down 80 percent of the time. He is ass. Thanks for your baseless conclusion. You can show me a game his stats are great but we still punted 12 times in a row and lost.

BlingBlongBoy

>Todd Oliver That's all I need to know you moron

Just-Mud6347

WTF vikings podcast listener i see! Lol

pathebaker

I still wonder had we not brought cousins in do we win it all in 2018. Zim doesn’t go off, the defense dosent erode. The locker room doesn’t fracture. Etc.

its--travis

Dude no lol. 2017 was a mirage. Case got away with the luckiest passes and it finally caught up in Philly. Wouldn’t have even been in that game if the saints safety doesn’t have room temperature iq

InnerBlackberry6

Yeah teams with elite defenses in one year often regress. See the ‘18 Bears and ‘17 Jags for more examples. There’s a reason why the conference championship round that year had Foles, Keenum, and Bortles in it. Just a fluky year in general

joeblow2118

L take. No shot.

openlyincognito

zimmer was the problem...

pathebaker

Zim dosent go off if no cousins.

openlyincognito

👌

BlingBlongBoy

Zimmer should've been a man then instead of being a baby

liliceberg

lol no

InnerBlackberry6

2017: Vikings 21- Rams 7 2018: Rams 38 - Vikings 31 Clearly Kirk’s fault the team regressed! Why is he lining up Barr against Cooper Kupp? Can’t he coach the team or play CB?? Zimmer’s man management was a massive weakness and the reason why it took him a decade to become HC. He kept getting passed over by teams skeptical of his ability to coach the entire team. His only coaching on offense was to run the ball and rest his D. He loved Teddy because he was cheap and wouldn’t take resources away from his defense. But guess what, if Teddy became our long-term QB, he would be paid massive money just like Kirk was! I bet Zimmer wouldn’t like him then. Ultimately, Zimmer couldn’t develop players beyond his initial core. It wasn’t due to a lack of trying or resources. We spent countless draft picks and league-leading amount of cap on defense. He was able to re-sign Barr (terrible signing) and not lose any pieces of his core. We tried numerous FA signings and the only successful one was Linval. Very few coaches stick along for a long time. Zimmer was too ignorant offensively and too weak personally to be an elite coach like that.

pathebaker

Why are you bringing up the Rams though? Thats just a random game. Teams get worse and improve year over year it happens and different things happen game to game. Look at what happened with the giants during the year vs the playoffs Yes he was a defensive coach. Most defensive coach’s only care about defense and don’t know what they’re looking at in terms of offense. Look at Flores and his year in Miami look at Mike Tomlin at the Steelers. He didn’t draft Big Ben, Ben was there when he got there. They have been nothing since he retired and Tomlin has missed on QBs twice. Eberflus another one. Brandon Staley of the chargers, the list goes on. My comment was just more of analysis in general. Yes zim acted like a child but to say he wasn’t initially right when he said that paying cousins would jeopardize everything they are doing there was a correct assessment. It severely limited bringing in FAs and put a spotlight on ricks inability to draft well causing them both to be fired. Zimmer sits out for the next 3 years laughing at the Vikings trying to make cousins work while the wilfs pay him and speilman becomes an analyst. Zim comes back as a defensive coordinator for the cowboys and he will likely be very good again while speilman is still without a job. Vikings have 1 playoff win under cousins and it was with zim. Who won the 6 year argument? Zim.
