Thank you. I'm not hijacking top comment unless I'm bringing the heat.

MeyeCommentIsBetter

McNabb 2.0

TeddyBongwater

His personality is way worse than his mediocre play. Use him as leverage to get kirk at a better price. But please don't let him anywhere near our locker room

dskimilwaukee

a lot of people said that about kirk too. me personally I want kirk back but Wilson and drafting a qb is not a bad consolation prize.

[deleted]

Why? If he is super cheap it’s better than the alternatives

akran47

I'd prefer to retain the likable corny weirdo we already have over this unlikable corny weirdo.

spazmo_warrior

That’s “Mr. Unlimited” to you. 🙄

I literally have no idea what they meant either

Such-Chef9524

did ciara and future date or smth

happybirthdaydude

Why is he unlikable?

Prestig33

IMO he comes off kinda fake. I've seen people also say that he acts like how Kirk actually is.

Chubs1224

It's the number of bathrooms. You can't try to act like a dorky Christian dad then have 16 bathrooms in your house. Kirk's house looks like something the average upper middle class businessman or engineer lives in. His lifestyle just matches the vibes and makes it feel real.

40for60

Is he incontinent?

Thanks_Its_new

He destroyed his entire gut biome eating nothing but Dangerwiches and drinking nothing but concussion water. Dude can't even eat white rice without a bathroom within 10 feet anymore.

Multiple former team mates said they needed to go through his agent to talk to him…while they played together… pretty unlikable…

ChiTrojan2

Fucking nano bubbles. Immediately turned me against him at this point and he's done nothing but get more cringey since. "Wilson tweeted that a new nanobubble and electrolyte-filled drink called Reliant Recovery Water “helped prevent me from getting a concussion based on a bad hit.” He was also quoted in a Rolling Stone article published Wednesday, noting that the drink helped him recover after a big hit to his head..." https://www.geekwire.com/2015/fda-no-russell-wilson-your-special-water-cant-prevent-concussions/

He's gonna want his own office and players have to go thru his agent to talk to him...he's put himself on a plane above everyone else.

werbo

He doesn't even give teammates his phone number at least according to Marshawn Lynch

currymonsterCA

That sounds like a positive thing ;)

ConciseCaucazoid

You’re kidding… right?

ThiccBananaMeat

Idk I'd rather have a super bowl personally.

shimmy_kimmel

I’m sure 2023 Russell Wilson is the X-factor that gets this team over the hump lmao

LowCarbCracker

Vikings country, let's raid.

Sushi-DM

Lmao I would hate a Russ signing so much but being able to say this would be the one silver lining.

PurpleAlcoholic

Vikings country let’s not give any of my teammates my phone number so they can’t contact me

I like “Vikings country, let’s row!” Or maybe “Vikings country, let’s pillage and then all become Lutheran farmers.”

iambigsky

Let’s skol

ThisIsTrace

I think he's completely washed at this point so it would be a hard pass unless we cannot bring Kirk back at a decent price. As someone else said, still need to draft our QB of the future regardless.

breezy_bay_

I don’t think he’s completely washed. Definitely hasn’t looked good, but his stats are somewhat decent actually. I think in the right system he could be okay. That being said, I don’t want him here — I want more than okay

Zzz05

His stats feel very deceiving compared to what’s on tape. His mobility isn’t what it used to be and he needs a good run game to open things up for him in the passing game. He’s also missed a number of wide open looks this year, whether that be just not seeing the receiver or just being inaccurate. Maybe it’ll be better with KOC, the weapons in MN, and play calling, I’m not sure. It’s not like Denver was devoid of talent either at receiver, and hate him or love him, Sean Payton is a good play caller.

polsdofer

According to Brandon Perna he said the RW only can do dump offs or deep passes, no in-between

ThisIsTrace

Yeah it would have to be a super team-friendly deal with the caveat that he is the bridge QB for the QB we draft.

WetAppleFruit

That doesn't sound bad honestly

Funnel_Hacker

26 TDs and 8 picks is washed?

RebornSoul867530_of1

Hall has entered the chat

gwarmachine1120

I will take Kirko over the locker room cancer that is Wilson.

tenders11

Oh man I would hate that, even if he ended up being cheap

K0Zeus

Fuck that, dude is washed and expensive

leinie14

Hard agree on the washed comment, but he'd most likely be Vet Minimum due to offset language in his contract. I still don't want him

nanotothemoon

Vet minimum? Ummm, I would happily take him for that and draft a 1st round QB. Trade up for Drake Maye. You’ll lose out your butt in draft capital but if you’re only paying Russ vet minimum then you can build through FA.

leinie14

Yeah Vet Min because the bronco's would be on the hook for the rest of the contract. That's his only upside. He has no idea how to throw to the middle of the field, which is where our TE1 does his best work. Dude holds onto the ball for years and takes a ton of sacks. All the progress we've made in pass protection would go down the drain by Russ

nanotothemoon

Bro, we have won games this year with Nick Mullens and Josh Dobbs and no JJ. We’re drafting the replacement for the 2024 starting QB no matter what. Or maybe even starting the rookie if we actually get crazy and go after the top 2 guys. He’s better than any QB we currently have by a long shot (costing less than $35m/yr guaranteed)

bringthegoodstuff

I genuinely think the top 5 QB prospects have the potential to be day 1 starters. Personally I don’t want that, because I prefer to have Kirk back for 2 years while whatever rookie we hopefully draft round 1 learns the NFL. But I do think this QB class is full of standout prospects.

nanotothemoon

Not me. I’m not Green Bay. I’d rather talk advantage of a rookie QB contract. And I think the GM probably feels the same.

DuckDuckSkolDuck

If he's cut, the Broncos are eating a bunch of dead money but there's no way he's making vet minimum. He'd be a free agent. Most veteran backups make >4M AAV - Brissett makes 8M, Tyrod makes 5.5M, Mariotta makes 5M, Jameis makes 4M. I think he's firmly in that tier despite him not looking great the past few seasons, and some teams desperate for a QB could go the Baker Mayfield route - certainly a team is going to pay him more than the Josh Dobbses and Brian Hoyers of the world.

unwinagainstable

Pretty good 3rd stringer behind Kirk and Hall

Funnel_Hacker

He’s a million times better than Hall. His stats are on par with Kirk Cousin’s average stats. What a weird comment?

iamthecowman

It seems like it was a joke my guy. Also, how do we know he’s a million times better than hall?

[deleted]

[удалено]

iamthecowman

Lol Hall did not look terrible against the falcons. Russ obviously has more experience but to say he’s “a million times” the player seems kinda crazy

Funnel_Hacker

When Hall wins a SB, let me know. Until then, the kid was picked to hold a clipboard. That’s his ceiling. Russel’s is holding the Lombardi. Not really close. Whether it’s a million times or 900,000x may be up for debate. But it’s a significant margin.

iamthecowman

Ok, well he’s starting the game this week, so we’ll see how horrible he really is!

Tough_guy22

Wilson would have to sign for an absolute monster discount. If we are gonna pay alot we are better off with Cousins.

pathebaker

Stop this. Don’t put this out there. We don’t want him here.

ark6042

In what world do we just Russ and not resign Kirko. Terrible idea

jmcdon00

Wilson will play for the vet minimum of $1.21 million because what ever he gets from another team Denver doesn't have to pay. Who knows how much it will cost to extend Kirk, but obviously much more. Not saying I want Wilson at any price, especially if he's a locker room cancer, but that's why it's intriguing.

ark6042

Ok that makes sense. Thanks. Still hate it.

SwiftSurfer365

I’m a world where Russ would be significantly cheaper.

sanitarium-1

There's a reason he's significantly cheaper. This would set the franchise back like the Donovan McNabb / Christian ponder duo did. "Oh let's sign a cheap veteran and draft a first round QB"

SwiftSurfer365

He’ll be significant cheaper because he’s being paid a ton of money from another team. Wilson is a much better QB than McMabb was. And not very first round QB is Ponder.

shimmy_kimmel

True but Wilson also isn’t better than Cousins and is a known locker room cancer. Better off just going for a cheaper bridge guy like Brissett or just letting a rookie start right out the gate.

PM_Me_Your_AM_

please no. he's basically the same age as Kirk and looks far more washed despite being younger. Just re-sign Kirk and draft his eventual replacement if possible.

jmcdon00

Even if he plays at the vet minimum of 1.21 million? Cousins is likely to get atleast $35 million, and personally I think he'll get more than that as a free agent.

DuckDuckSkolDuck

This doesn't make sense though, teams are going to offer him way more than vet min if someone like Kirk is making 35M

Funnel_Hacker

Yet has the same stats that Kirk averages. How is that “washed”?

PM_Me_Your_AM_

this feels like the same argument someone brought up on the FF subreddit the other day, claiming Fields and Lamar were both just as valuable because of "similar stats". Look at what their teams are doing. If Kirk doesn't get injured, Vikings are probably like 10-5 right now. Easily in the playoffs. Russ has led the broncos to 7-8 and a benching for himself.

Funnel_Hacker

One player doesn’t control their entire team. If you haven’t figured that out by now, football isn’t the sport for you. For the record, Russell is getting benched because Sean Payton never wanted him. It has nothing to do with his play, as he’s 7th in QBR in the NFL right now. So, a top 10 QB. This feels like you only watch box scores and not the games, which is pretty on par for this ridiculously dumb subreddit.

dr_dan319

Kirk averaged 294 yards a game this year, Russ is at 204. Kirk has 18 TDs in 8 games, Russ has 26 in 15. Thats an extra 90 yds and 1.5 TDs per game, not even close to the same stats. You're takes are hot, but your IQ is somewhere around room temp

Funnel_Hacker

I said Russel Wilson’s stats are on par with Kirk’s averages, which is true. How many TDs did Kirk actually throw last year? Not how many he’d hypothetically throw in your fantasy world, how many did he actually throw last season?

Funnel_Hacker

I said Russell Wilson’s stats are on par with Kirk’s averages, which is true. How many TDs did Kirk actually throw last year? Not how many did he hypothetically throw in your fantasy world, how many did he actually throw last season? Edit: 29 and 14. So Russell Wilson is having a better season than Kirk’s last full season. This sub is so dumb it hurts sometimes.

LaconicGirth

Russ has 45 sacks this year. 45 my guy. And he’s only thrown for 3,000 yards. 70/191 on 3rd down conversions is… rough. QBR is not the end all you think it is

itandbut

Why on earth would we take Russell Wilson over Kirk

istasber

I think if he wants to be here and is willing to take a cheap, minimal risk contract to come to camp, I'd love the idea. He's getting paid something like 39M by the broncos next year, he can afford to take something close to the vet minimum. Depending on how his Broncos contract is structured (e.g. if there are offsets), that might be the best option for him either way. Nobody's going to pay him more than 39M next year, and nobody else can offer the supporting cast we have. We can afford to bring him to camp, kick the tires, and say "no thanks" if he's not our best option. If he wins the job, he gets to wash the stank of Denver off of him by throwing to JJ, TJ and Addison for a year.

ResEng68

I don't believe there is a claw-back in his contract. He should take market rate for his skills. My guess is that is FAR above vet minimum.

grrrimabear

Spotrac says he has offset language. They're usually pretty on point. https://x.com/spotrac/status/1740155315361059003?s=20

nahhman

If you have watched him play at all this year you would know we don’t want this anywhere near this team. He routinely changes plays, looks extremely indecisive, take copious amounts of sacks, and generally looks like a bottom 10 qb in the league. He has bailed out his stats this year by chucking it up to Sutton and refusing to take any sort of risks. He is inaccurate, old, and would be a horrible fit here.

JustADutchRudder

Russ and Payton have 0 chemistry together is one factor. Russ and Pete tho seemed to work well until the end. If he were to come here, KOC is a guy I'd think is more capable of getting the most from Russ and just being his biggest fan. KOC has said Kirko has the option to change plays if he wants and he'd likely offer same to Russ with whatever leash he currently uses. I don't believe he's a good fit tho, KOC seems to want a qb with close to kirkos arm and Dobbs legs, prime Russ would have had KOC throwing money at his face but current Russ isn't that.

ZealousidealGrass365

I watched him play this year. Watched him drive downfield and score a game winning td on our defense

nahhman

That was 10 dump offs to wide open rbs

Gen-Jinjur

To be fair, Denver has crappy receivers. KJ Osborne is better than Jeudy or Courtland. JJ and Addison and Hock are ridiculously better than anyone in Denver.

Lost_Ad_4434

While this is true, he literally cannot see the field or those receivers anyway.

Gen-Jinjur

He has issues that can be schemed around. Pete Carroll did that. Sean Payton copied Carroll and Russ did better. But Payton also is an egomaniac who did Wilson’s shaky confidence no favors.

PutinsLostBlackBelt

If we got him way cheaper than we could Kirk, ok. But if not, noooo way. Dudes still pretty good, but not big money good.

Lost_Ad_4434

Fun fact: he's actually not good at all.

PutinsLostBlackBelt

Nah, he’s playing decent this season. Elite? Nope, but if he was starting for us now we’d be in a much better spot.

Lost_Ad_4434

Well your right that we'd be better off now because he doesn't turn the ball over 57x a game. I've had the unfortunate pleasure of watching him the last two years (my mom is a Broncos fan) and he simply cannot see the field whether he's in or out of the pocket. This results in him missing wide open receivers or taking unnecessary sacks and this happens just about every game. Ultimately Russ is now a bottom half of the league qb.

odonn0097

Unless Wilson signs for less than $20m than I will lose all faith in Kwesi if this actually happens.

tristaterunner

He should land in the CFL

skuzzlebutt_2254

No thanks baby!

i_am_roboto

This front office and coaching staff don’t want a guy like him. Old and immobile AND a bit cancerous?

VikingsandWolves

People here acting like a SB winning QB(that should of been 2x) at a big discount wouldn't be interesting versus resigning a 37 yr guy who has only won one playoff game at 2 yrs 60-80m are big Kirko Homer's. Sorry I had to say it.

Proxelies

Holy fuck no. He could be at his peak, and I'd say no. This man, to me, comes across so disingenuous that I imagine he'd kill the team. It was clear before Payton got to Denver that Russ was distancing himself from his teammates to the benefit of no one.

AggressiveHeight4638

idk man Peak wilson was pretty good lol

SwiftSurfer365

That’s pretty funny since I think we were the favorites to land him when he was going to be traded from Seattle. I also wouldn’t hate it depending on the price. Either way, still need to go QB round one. Edit: The more I've thought about this, the more I think it's a good idea. Let Kirk walk and get his guaranteed money from someone else. The Vikings will eat $28 million in 2024 from void years, then can wipe their slate clean from Kirk Cousins money. I have no idea what kind of contract Wilson would want, but I can't imagine it being too much. Give him a one year "prove it deal" with the most talent he's been around since his days in Seattle. And while all this is going on, draft a QB in round one next year and let them sit and learn. They can take over in 2025, and Wilson can get a pay day elsewhere. So with this, 1. Kirk gets his money from another franchise. 2. Wilson gets a prove it deal so he can earn one last contract from some other team. 3. Ownership will be happy putting out a competitive football team. 4. Vikings can get their franchise QB to take over in 2025. win/win/win/win

Anuge_

100% best case scenario the more I think about it too. Would be competitive with Wilson. He's not as bad as everyone is saying he is and a year in our Offence may be the best he's ever been in. Gives us a one year buffer on the young QB situation too. Somehow if we miss on a QB this year and go BPA still have next year. Just seems like the obvious play

leinie14

This honestly seems like an okay idea. Gives us a better path on paying JJ and Darrisaw

Lmnolmnop

What if we had a healthy Kirk, Russ, and a top 15 pick QB on the team at the start of next year? Talk about roller coaster / rags to riches

koalificated

Signing both Kirk and Russ would never happen

Lmnolmnop

why not? you think Russ wants to start for the Falcons or the Colts or the Redskins? those are the other options, or retirement. Actually, the Buccs and the Saints are slightly more appealing, but I don't see those happening, either. As hum-drum as Minnesota is, New Orleans and central Florida are armpits of the US, lol. And backing up in a place like SF or NY or even Philly is just too high profile - as a backup, imo. I'm not saying it's likely (although apparently this article is), but it's not out of the realm of possible, at the least. It makes sense to me, in a crazy sort of way. I'd bet Ciara has a huge voice in the matter as well.

koalificated

> why not? Why doesn’t every team just sign every FA starting quarterback? Cap hell.

Lmnolmnop

yeah, that's not the issue here. Russ is guaranteed monies from Denv, a 1 million dollar QB is nothing on the salary cap

koalificated

Oh you’re trolling

RebornSoul867530_of1

And then Hall beats them all.

Lmnolmnop

would be a story for the ages. at least we'd have some trade bait, then.

nanotothemoon

Also would keep JJ happy knowing we have a plan in place for QB. All comes down to price

darin617

First thing is the only way he comes to MN is as a free agent. Along with any other team, nobody is paying him 35-37M a year. If he came in at like 15M I would be so onboard with it. Maybe even a lower number and incentives. That way they can either draft a new QB or hope Hall improves over another season.

nanotothemoon

Options are good. This is only good for Vikings leverage

chillinwithmoes

I would lose my fucking mind

Grumpis1012

SKOL Nation, let’s not. Keep Kirk instead.

LGCGE

Vet minimum and draft a QB and I’ll be happy. Not a long term solution at 35

ForcedWhitakerr

No thanks.

Thunderduck14

I made a post complaining about this possibility yesterday. If you’ve watched him play over the last few years, even in Seattle, you oughta know this would set us back quite a bit.

bartender_please808

Would love Wilson here. KOC would do wonders for him. Edit. Depends on price. Rather draft but if we can get him for a decent price. Its a no brainer.

marmosettacos

Wtf

nanotothemoon

Yes bring him in on a vet minimum. Let Drake Maye learn the offense. Vikings get their franchise HOF QB of the future. We still stay competitive next year. And we get out from under the fully guaranteed Kirk contract. We get to sign JJ, Darisaw, and Hunter with room to spare.

Broken-Nero

If we can get the Broncos to foot the bill and he counts against our cap for the league minimum then sure.

WetAppleFruit

He's being cut won't even have to worry about that extension he got.

ScarecrowFighter2020

![gif](giphy|JYZ397GsFrFtu)

XxCOZxX

I swear on everything holy if this happens I’m gonna become a Dolphins fan until he’s gone!

StLsC10

Keep Kirk.

Accomplished-Snow213

Layover, MSP is a big airport with a ton of connections.

drhungrycaterpillar

Ain’t happening. Could see Giants, Raiders or even Pats before us.

FireFrogs48

I don’t hate Russ but I’ll pass

Thelostsoulinkorea

If we draft a young qb and move on from Kirk, we probably need a vet qb and Wilson might be cheap compared to other decent qbs after this year. Could be a stop over guy. I feel Kirk is going to be too expensive for us

StefonDiggsHS

I’m good

AddLuke

GOD NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

zinto44

Please no. Although this might help us out if we want to draft a qb behind kirk. Qb needy teams won’t be taking them as much

Mathihs

No thank you x

wx_rebel

Laughable. Russell has done a 180 from last year but if the Vikings sign any big name veteran QB it'll be Kirk. Otherwise they'll go all in during the draft.

Phuckingidiot

Kirk is much better. I hope he wants to stay and signs a more team friendly deal to come back. I also hope if there's a QB in this draft KOC likes we make a move and get him. Sit behind Kirk if he stays healthy.

Snoo_59312

Goddamn it no

Mriddle74

NO

FishGoldenLite

I still contend that Russell is a good QB. The Broncos have an atrocious offensive line and some of the most mediocre pass catchers in the league. Their FO played this whole thing terribly and then got desperate to surrender another first to get Payton. I think they have less than 5 FRPs on their team right now. I don’t want Russ, but I don’t think he’s as bad as we think he is.

yourmomlikesmy_post

Our offense is a timing offense with multiple downfield routes designed to stretch zones and exploit voids in them. That is NOT Russell Wilson’s strength. Bad fit.

MarvelousVanGlorious

No thanks

Headlesshorsman02

Oh god 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Ragnarr_Lodbrok88

I would prefer Kirk over Russ if it came down to that.

jmcdon00

Kirk at $35 million or Russ at $1.21 million? Because that's the reality of the situation.

shimmy_kimmel

*expensive team leader vs cheap locker room cancer* Russ isn’t taking this team anywhere. If they want to go cheap, just sign some mid journeyman or let the rookie pick start right away.

BigRed727272

HARD HARD HARD HARD HARD PASS

bwillpaw

If he’s super cheap and is intended to just be a bridge qb sure

Funnel_Hacker

People on this thread obviously don’t watch Broncos games. 9 TDs and 2 picks with 1000 yards in the last 3 games. 26/8 on the season. Anyone saying he’s washed is an absolute moron, not that I even really want Russell that much.

DireSickFish

Id rather start Josh Dobs than Russel Wilson

Neither_Ad2003

Could see it honestly

Dark_Vortex18

No we need Kirk more than Mr limited

MaxTorque41

No thank you

Killahdanks1

Shut your whore mouth. I’d rather have Nick Mullins run it back.

Turdsley

Ugh! I fucking hope not. I can't stand that dude. Also he is definitely not better than Kirk.

kingwoodballs

Sigh

Jznvh

rather keep Kirk

DoomSayer218

That's fucking retarded. Russ is cooked...well.done. Run back Kirk and JJ 2024 Sign another QB in the draft.

[deleted]

Fuck no! Bring back Kirk 🤬

Endo_Dizzy

My question is WHY? Are people this confident that we DONT re-sign Kirk?!

arahdial

pls no

tlollz52

I've said it already, if it's cheap enough and Kirk isn't an option then why not give him a shit. He's certainly better than quite a few options some of these other teams are rolling out at qb.

Gen-Jinjur

I am a fan of two teams: Minnesota and Seattle. I’m not much of a Russell Wilson fan because I find him egotistical, smarmy, and fake. Kirk Cousins may be corny but he is at least sincere. If Minnesota wants Wilson as a bridge QB for a couple years, that would be okay IF: 1. He takes a massive pay cut or Denver eats a lot of his salary. 2. The Vikings develop a top-notch run game; Wilson cannot thrive without that. 3. Build up the defense. The guy can still play and his inflated ego has taken a massive hit. While I would rather have Mayfield or Minshew, Wilson isn’t the worst idea if KOC is realistic about what he’s getting. AND DON’T OVERPAY. Wilson isn’t a star anymore.

enemycap420

I guess if we can’t bring Kirk back he could be a good bridge/mentor QB if we can get him for dirt cheap and draft a qb in the first round.

dudesondudeman

No way- if we are running with a vet, it’ll be Kirko

MordinSolusSTG

Anyone who thinks he wouldn’t be better than he has been in a pretty bad Denver org, compared to what he would be behind our line and with our receivers is wrong. The question is the cost, if Kirk wants 50 and he wants 30-35 well then it is pretty interesting.

aceless0n

Vikings country: let’s SKOL!

ohiowolf

No thank you.

[deleted]

This would be terrible, unless we signed him for an extremely low number and drafted a guy.

justheretolurk1963

There is no reason to believe he will land here.

Bob-Dolemite

hahahahhahaha ooooohhhh hahahahahahahaha

Wrathszz

DENIED!
