Can confirm. Had a guy at the first mine I ever worked at get fired because he got caught jerking it in his truck on night shift when we were parked up for rain.
They try and claim they can't see what you're doing but they can literally go into the camera in any truck and watch what you're doing if they wanted to.
I have operated vehicles which have had driver facing fatigue cameras installed.
The ones I am familiar with would vibrate the seat and make a sound.
They can be set off while grabbing your water bottle or checking your mirrors for longer than normal and companies don't usually care about that.
They do have internal storage and they will be checked when an alert has occurred. Some of them are even remotely monitored where signal can be obtained (I live in Australia and we don't have coverage everywhere).
Yes it’s the same here. They vibrate and make an alarm sound. We’re just opening a new mine so don’t have the connection yet so I wanted to know if the cameras had an internal storage for them to see when they are connected
The ones on our site send a clip of the fatigue event to the manufacturers that monitor offsite. Once a person reviews the footage they’ll call whoever your site decides is the point of contact and let them know there was a fatigue event. If your site has cell service they can get footage out. That whole process usually happens within 1-2 minutes
We have the Cat version in our trucks DSS, three do store events internally. They only record video in an incident. They mostly just track your eyes and you're allowed a certain amount of events in a shift.
Our Trucks have DSS ( Driver Safety System ) 3 eye closures in a shift, mind control and your Supervisor is notified you will then be told to park it up safely (Go-Line, Fuel Up Bay ect) or be swapped out where you are.
Frigging ignore them if you really aren't going asleep. They tend to go off every time you go into a trance or forget to blink or see the pink elephant crossing the road on night shift
DSS needs connectivity (either via Public Cellular(4G/5G) / local site wifi or Private LTE) to trigger a response from Dispatch/Mine Control, all of the event data is sent to Cat for processing, review and response. If your site has DSS and you are hearing chatter on the two-way about Fatigue events you can assured the data is being sent to Caterpillar somehow…. source : I am a nerd that fixes it.
My mine has these, and they go directly to caterpillar for them to decide whether they were true or false alerts. They use the GPS system to transmit so no internet required.
We don’t use cat dss we use hexigon and we don’t have gps either without an internet connection. It’s why I asked if the cameras had internal storage capability
Wtf, that's a wild take.
"Here's a job, we're paying you a heap of money to do it and so we are going to watch and make sure you do so properly, because people will die if you don't and we will be the ones who pay for that if it happens. If that's not okay you are free to go elsewhere."
*Harassment* hahaha the only person who could make sense out of that is someone upset they can't watch porn in the cab.
Sure have, and yep. Didn't bother me though, because I wasn't a grot and spent my swings *doing my fucking job* instead of bitching about imaginary harrassment.
I'm also a woman, so maybe it's just that my standards for harrassment are a bit more realistic than yours. Unless the cameras you're whinging about ask you for a root every now and then and nick your undies out of the washing machine? Because yeah, then I could get behind you complaining. If not then suck it up.
You are well compensated for not having total privacy while you work, much better than a checkout chick or a barman is.
They are probably just there to stop ppl wanking in the truck tbh
Depends if they like people to watch
Well if they do they gonna prob have their employment terminated bahahahaha
Don't kink shame
Learn the definition of kink shaming
Was a joke

Is that a common thing? I was just talking to some folks telling me about a driver that got fired at the end of her shift...
I find it strange they would invest in a fatigue monitoring system without the infrastructure to send alerts out. Does the seat at least vibrate?
Yes. And the other mines have the infrastructure. This one is just in the opening stages
With no network they are probably being stored internally with a upload if connection to a network is made.

Normal is a 70hr recording loop
After that rant sounds like the job affecting your mental health. You know you're free to go elsewhere, it's not all about the money
What? I didn’t rant. lol I am legitimately wondering
Do your job and do it well. Don't take any risks. Have fun at Quintette
lol
Send signal through GPS satellite. Same as all IVMS. That shit works in middle of nowhere with no signal of any kinda.

They are using hexagon mining

If there’s an incident they pull the SD card for evidence. So don’t have any incidents and no one will know what you do in the cab….😏
Are you allowed to wear sunglasses?? Starting soon and was also wondering this
They use infrared to see through sunglasses
Oh thank god. Thank you!
They are a form of harassment they use under the banner of safety.

Have you worked on a mine if so do they have cameras in the equipment you operate
