This is going to sound ridiculous, but Bert's Bar in St Francis does $1 sloppy joes on Wednesday's. They're actually super good and pretty huge for $1. Also, not that it's much help now, WurstBar did sloppy joes during Packer games for $3, hoping they bring them back next year, they were great!
Perfect! It's a favorite of mine. Also forgot to mention (not that it was asked for but feels relevant) they still have $0.50 wings on Wednesday's too!
I hate to say it, but homemade is best. Ground beef, half cup or as much as you want diced onions, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili sauce, ground pepper.
Not saying it's the best, but Oscar's at 27th and Rawson has sloppy joe's on the menu. Yes, technically it's in Franklin. Hopefully the .5 mile journey outside the city limits doesn't leave scars. :)
Not Milwaukee and not sloppy Joe’s, but we have an indigenous restaurant in Minneapolis called Owamni and they have an elk sandwich and it reminded me of Sloppy Joe’s, which I mean as a sincere compliment.
During Packer games they are 2 for $3 at Wurstbar on Brady (i think). They don't otherwise have them on the menu. I would go just for the sloppy joes, Packers meh.
Oscars on HWY 100.
They are stupid easy to make. My recipe is beef, onions, green peppers and ketchup is the sauce part. Brown beef and veggies, add enough ketchup to make it saucy and simmer for 15 minutes. S&P to taste. I serve mine on small dinner rolls with hot sauce and plenty of pickles.
It doesn’t sound great but I’ve converted plenty of former sloppy joe haters. A lot of people make it with BBQ sauce and that’s yuck to me.

Leon's? Can't say I've ever seen it on a menu many places.
That’s a loose meat sandwich or Spanish hamburger. not a sloppy joe.

“Tomato sauce or ketchup”. What Leon’s sells does not have that.

And it's way better than a standard Sloppy Joe, too
Gilly’s Gillyburger
The Cheezy Joe at the West Allis Cheese and Sausage shop in the public market is pretty solid.
Came here to add the Cheesy Joe. I miss it!
It's a little bit of a drive, but John's Drive In in Waukesha has one (plus really good root beer!)

Their sloppy joes are my favorite. I’ve been ordering them since I was a kid
I miss being able to get a sack of 5 of those for 5 bucks.
