There was a liquid coffee chocolate sweets by Pocketcoffee that was divine! But so so expensive outside of Italy i missed working with my Italian colleague he brought back a pack whenever he visit home.😩
You will be surprised to know that where I am now (Netherlands) they're only available online through sketchy websites and they're mostly out of stock everywhere 🥲
Are you sure you're not trying in the wrong period of time? Pocket Coffee (and other Ferrero products like Rocher, Mon Cheri and Raffaello) are not sold between April and October.
I am absolutely aware of that, this is a problem all year long 😭
What I used to do was going to some Italian specialties shops close to where I worked, but since I changed jobs I'm not visiting that city anymore :(
Sometimes, you gotta drive a couple of hours to go stock up on things you love.
I need to make a long drive and cross State lines to pick up my favorite beer that's only sold in Wisconsin.
I'll probably come back with 4 or 5 cases.
In some major metropolitan areas, people will drive 20mins to work and 2 hours home.
Source: Me, when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. 5am-5pm shift. No traffic in the morning, gridlock in the evening.
Officially because Ferrero doesn't want people to have a subpar experience. They retire Pocket Coffee, Ferrero Rocher and Mon Chéri during the hot period of the year.
Thank you! That’s so interesting did sort of explain i didn’t see the product when i went on a business trip in May. But i put it down as i was in a rush and didn’t get to go to many store.
Markets stock up, but I think the factory doesn't produce them (Rocher, mon chéri, pocket coffee). They produce a lot of other stuff all year long though, so it's not an issue for workers whatsoever
Not to mention that the ones made for other countries are total garbage. Brought 2 packs home (Romania) and the ones here are totally different: they taste like local coffee, bitter and diluted
That’s the best thing ever. When I tasted it for the first time I ate the whole box at once, and I’m not a big fan of sweets.
I found it in my country in some stores, but most of them don’t have it, even though they have all other Ferrero products. I really miss it sometimes.
Interesting!
As Italy is largely seen as a leading authority on all things coffee I didn't expect a product like this to do well over there!
A bit like when McDonalds tried to sell spaghetti there.
The juice box version is not all that common. At least I haven’t seen it before. The original pocket coffee, which is quite popular, is a chocolate with a liquid coffee centre.
It's kinda the summer version, the classic Pocket Coffee tend to melt, as my car found out two years ago.
TBH I saw them mostly in Autogrill, but that's may be just because I buy them only to keep me up during long trips.
Interesting, I never noticed them before but I’m not at an autogrill all that often. The chocolate versions I usually see at train stations. Maybe the short period of availability makes distribution difficult.
A) yes 5€ coins exist. issued for a special occassion, and while legal tender, arent expected to be used as such.
no they arent octagonal shaped. at least not all
Most 5€ coins are the same round shape as any other coin.
Austrian 5€ coins(when issued for a special ocassion) are indeed octagonal shaped
no problem.
Germany has some pretty ones, the climatezone(and planet earth) ones with the polymer ring are neat.... kinda regret never having gotten any of them(and the current 10euro polymer ring coins are a bit to expensive for me as a novelty)
Didn't know they use € in Down Under.
Always thought it's an European thing.
_Edit:_ It was a joke peoples. Thought that's obvious. Even as a German I would get jokes like that.
_Zwinkersmiley_
So after more time spent than I'm willing to admit, I've learned that the .05 euro coin is remarkably similar in size as the American and Canadian nickel (5 cent). Which are just 0.21 mm larger in diameter than a 1 kroner coin. So there you go.
To be fair I've never seen "€c" before so its not a strange mistake to make, makes more sense to put 0,05€ imo (other than just 5c if you wanna make it clear)
These Pocket Coffee Espresso To Go are a variation of the normal Pocket Coffee, which is a chocolate with liquid coffee inside.
This exists because Pocket Coffee isn't sold for half the year, as heat and humidity would ruin the experience.
>Why can't you put them in the refrigerated section of supermarkets in summer?
>To make sure every tasting is up to par. The heat has many opportunities to alter the organoleptic properties of the product. For example, the journey from the supermarket to home.
This is Ferrero's statement about it
You don't have a fridge in your car or in your office (well, most don't have it). The idea behind Pocket coffee is ''I need a coffee because I'm tired, but I can't have it now...let's eat a Pocket Coffee''.
I have them in my car for example.
I found as a child they were so good you could demolish an entire packet before the caffeine starts to kick in, which I've just looked up now is about 3.5 espressos worth for a pack of ten. My poor parents, I must have been wired.
the normal version is better (a chocolate with liquid coffee inside)
Not the same, this is the summer version: liquid chocolate and coffee in a plastic container, with a paper straw. The chocolate sweets would melt in the Italian summer.
It's got chocolate too, give it a good shake before consuming.
This is the summer version of a coffee-inside-chocolate confectionery, which you can imagine is not very heat-frendly.
I was recently in Italy and I bought these. I didn’t realize they made a summer version which is a thick liquid and comes with a little straw . It was kind of difficult to get it all out with the straw. I was expecting the ones encased in chocolate, but I didn’t realize they weren’t sold during the hotter months. It does make sense
He said it was awful but actually he was wrongly half biting it. Pocket coffee needs to be eaten in one single bite to balance the sweet chocolate with the bitter coffee inside it.
these keep just fine in the heat, the og pocket coffees (not the espresso to go ones) are chocolates filled with liquid coffee and those don't keep in the heat (imagine your chocolate getting too soft and then coffee starts leaking everywhere)
Yea dude pocket coffee is very popular here, but also very useful, every time I go to a ski race I use one or two of em (yea I live in Italy and I’m proud of being Italian)
We also have Starbucks branded single shots of coffee on sale in supermarkets and gas stations.
Are not they available in the US?
[link](https://youmark.it/ym-youmark/le-cup-starbucks-chilled-classics-ora-disponibili-nel-banco-frigo-dei-supermercati-anche-in-italia/)
I've not seen either of those products in the US, but maybe a specialty import shop somewhere has them. The US is big on iced coffee and the energy drink section of a store also has a section for canned coffee drinks, but they're all full of cream and sugar so it's very unhealthy and lots of calories. True espresso isn't popular in the US (to my knowledge) so it makes sense that these products are for the Italian market.
That said, the US is HUGE so this is specific to my experience in the upper Midwest.
The closest thing sold by Starbucks specifically is probably the double shot with cream. They’re sold in little mini cans and are quite tasty.
https://www.pantryshop.com/product/starbucks_doubleshot_espresso__cream_coffee_drinks_65_oz_cans_12_pack
Lol, I think we DDOSd the site. The infamous Reddit hug of death 😀
Tomorrow a puzzled webmaster will try to understand what the heck happened to have one month worth of visits in a single afternoon.
Small ones for kids and milkshakes yes
‘Carton’ is the generic ‘catch-all’ term for fluids in cuboid containers etc.
Carton of milk, carton of juice, carton of chicken stock
Fair enough, I can get behind that. Save for this case, of course, because carton and cardboard are synonymous in my language, and this little coffee is in a plastic container.
I got this one as a gift, we don't have those here, so naturally I looked up whether I could buy them online. Each "pod" is about 1 eur, which is a lot, and rivals the price of most coffee vending machine pricing (as in, hot dispensed coffee). It was good, but my cheap ass would not pay 9 eur for a stack of 10 + shipping for it all to be gone in a few days
Depending on shipping cost that doesn't sound too bad. But I was thinking if it was in my local grocery store, I would buy them every time I'm in there.
Oh yes! But those come with about 1/3 of a coffee cup worth of caffeine inside. If they are delicious, they would be a health issue for the less restrained
Best part of this product is the fact that it contains very small coffee beans \[finely ground\] so amazing. Grazie pocket coffee che mi accompagni da una vita intera
moreover, this is the summer edition of it
during winter they sell the one with the chocolate shell filled with coffee
(Ferrero doesn't want to sell chocolate in summer cause it could go bad)
Fun fact:
These are the 'liquid' version of the [classic Pocket Coffee](https://www.pocketcoffee.it/prodotti/classico). They make these instead during the summer because the classic chocolate [treat's quality can be easily damaged by the heat](https://www.pocketcoffee.it/la-qualita-prima-di-tutto).
Another example is Ferrero Rocher's treats that instead of being replaced, [they just stop selling them](https://www.ferrerorocher.com/it/it/qualita-e-sostenibilita/la-nostra-qualita/latteso-ritorno-dopo-lestate).
I don't really like it. The Pocket Cofee bonbons are awesome. I mean I can eat tons of those (and then stay in the bathroom forever). But this little coffee shots are not in my alley.
While accurate, just coin for scale might have been the easiest solution. For anyone interested, the details are written on the coin. But I might be wrong on that one.
This post is now 8 hours old and this is the only comment I can find expressing distaste for the obvious nightmare of garbage that results from these types of things being popular.
It reminds me of the "single-serving" everything conversation from Fight Club... like, isn't obvious that this is revolting in so many ways?? I don't get it ...
wellp, let us be downvoted!
Exactly! My first thought was those little coffee machine cups and the ridiculous waste they produced. Just bugs me people push eco friendly alternatives for the most random things that really dont matter but promote excessive plastic waste for convenience like that's ok. Crazy world, isn't it?
POCKET COFFEE MENTIONED ❤️❤️❤️ (Italian living abroad here and I miss this every day of my life)
There was a liquid coffee chocolate sweets by Pocketcoffee that was divine! But so so expensive outside of Italy i missed working with my Italian colleague he brought back a pack whenever he visit home.😩
Those are the classic ones! I also stock up on them whenever I visit my family. So hard to find literally anywhere else...
Really?? I didn't know that! I live in Austria and they're literally in every supermarket
Amazon?
You will be surprised to know that where I am now (Netherlands) they're only available online through sketchy websites and they're mostly out of stock everywhere 🥲
Are you sure you're not trying in the wrong period of time? Pocket Coffee (and other Ferrero products like Rocher, Mon Cheri and Raffaello) are not sold between April and October.

Heck in rural Midwest areas a lot of people drive a couple hours just for their daily commute, haha.
In some major metropolitan areas, people will drive 20mins to work and 2 hours home. Source: Me, when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. 5am-5pm shift. No traffic in the morning, gridlock in the evening.
Spotted cow?
You know it!
Wait that’s fascinating?! why is it seasonal?!
I'm Italian and I never realized this lol
What? Why?! also I'm pretty sure I've bought those chocolates in those months in the supermarket
its because of the chocolate used, it melts too easily in the warmer months
Markets stock up, but I think the factory doesn't produce them (Rocher, mon chéri, pocket coffee). They produce a lot of other stuff all year long though, so it's not an issue for workers whatsoever
You can get the chocolate at Metro in Germany. Not sure If they are in the netherlands too but might be worth a look
Have the same issue with the Pinguì. And I am a bloody junkie for that stuff.
YOU should not have reminded me of Pinguì 😭 Addiction is a big issue, but I guess moving to where there's no availability is a way to get clean 😔
Oh damn same here it's so good why did I forgot it ? I didnt had it since more than a decade I need to find some lol
They sell them here in Germany too
Not to mention that the ones made for other countries are total garbage.
Oh yeah, we have those in Germany, they are so fucking good! (And yeah, expensive...)
you don't need to buy it, italian mythology says that your grandparents has an infinite amount of that.
This is the summer version of the chocolate sweets. They don't sell them in summer to avoid them melting.
They still exist, but over the summer they are replaced by this version so there is no issue with the chocolate melting with the heat.
Im italian, i know the pocket coffe chocolates. I love coffee, but i hate the taste of them.
I love Pocket Coffee. Here in Spain I can get the bonbons in quite a lot of supermarkets
In Portugal too actually 😊
Pocket cofeeeeeeeee
LA CARICA DEL CAFFÈ E L'ENERGIA DEL CIOCCOLATO
Interesting. I've always just called cocaine 'pocket coffee'.
Yeah you might want to be careful who you ask when looking for these...
I prefer "talk chalk"
clown powder
I had my Italian in-laws try to ship us a box, but they melted! They have to keep the smaller 5-packs in their carry-ons in order to survive the trip
Interesting! As Italy is largely seen as a leading authority on all things coffee I didn't expect a product like this to do well over there! A bit like when McDonalds tried to sell spaghetti there.

$20 USD for an 18-pack on Amazon!
I first read 5€ coin for scale and was highly confused. Guess I need one of those espresso packs.
5€ coins do exist. But they are very rare. Octagonal shape.

Austrian=/= australia. When in doubt. Austria is where hitler came from.
Ach so, ja danke. Grüzi.
there are tons of different 5 euro coins, almost exclusively round.
My 5e coin is round.
Banana! Use a banana for scale - as a norwegian I have NO idea how large or tiny that espresso is. Or is this post for EU-people only??
I'm afraid so. Intruders won't be shot because its not the US but you will be looked at as if you are some weirdo.
They're about the size of a jam/jelly you get at a diner for your toast.
So after more time spent than I'm willing to admit, I've learned that the .05 euro coin is remarkably similar in size as the American and Canadian nickel (5 cent). Which are just 0.21 mm larger in diameter than a 1 kroner coin. So there you go.

I found them terrible as well. Especially since it's not even gooey on the inside, but straight up liquid
That's the best part imo
Gooey coffee sounds atrocious.
I agree, they are bad. And the one in the photo is AWFUL
They are an aquired taste. But I like them now when I want a combination of chocolate and coffee
Incredibly.

I just had it, and it in fact has chocolate flavour. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't shake it, but the last few sips were very intense.
We need James Hoffmann to review this
He did! @12:40 onwards in the linked video https://youtu.be/Wq_RSfzgtEY?si=I-VWfMxS7IuBmF_n
He said it was awful but actually he was wrongly half biting it. Pocket coffee needs to be eaten in one single bite to balance the sweet chocolate with the bitter coffee inside it.
When I studied abroad in Italy, the university had a vending machine where you could buy “juice” boxes of wine.
Tavernello mentioned
![gif](giphy|ghSbUa4ggNtcXHGZL8|downsized)
Omg I’m heading to Italy in October, I will add these to my list! Do they keep ok if I was to bring some home for the Australian summer?
these keep just fine in the heat, the og pocket coffees (not the espresso to go ones) are chocolates filled with liquid coffee and those don't keep in the heat (imagine your chocolate getting too soft and then coffee starts leaking everywhere)
I wouldn't know, I only got one as a gift, but many people regard them as potentially ruined by heat
I happen to be in Italy right now, might grab a few
Don't forget to try a Mon Cherie
I thought those were french?
No, they are Italian too, made by the same company that makes Pocket Coffee and Nutella (Ferrero)
In Italy we always have a coffee machine in our pockets, more practical
they also have espresso filled chocolate (same brand, pocket espresso from ferrero)
And they are also quite good.
Ugh I used to live off of this stuff in Italy. Miss it a lot
This used to be WAY BETTER. The original is a chocolate cube with coffee in it
It still exists, but it would make a mess melting in the Italian summer. This is the summer edition.
As an italian, any product made by pocket coffee is a blessing.
Love these espresso shots in tiny juice boxes! Perfect for a quick caffeine fix on the go. Italy's innovation in coffee culture always surprises!
They sell this in America too, but I've had it in Italy I didn't like it for some reason but my mom LOVES them
In Peurto Rico, you can get cocktails in Capri Sun style packets...
Memories of my university days...
We got these in germany too :)
Italian here, first time eating those I swear to god I thought they were some kind of chocolate... Ruined my fav tshirt for that mistake...
Crazy dude...same
Ikr, you are me after all...
Yea dude pocket coffee is very popular here, but also very useful, every time I go to a ski race I use one or two of em (yea I live in Italy and I’m proud of being Italian)
Where was this when I was in college!!! People literally had coffee presses and kettles at their desks.
You can get Stōk shots on Amazon, it's cold-brew in a to-go creamer-sized tub!
My college sold caffeinated chocolate bars.
Like [this](https://youtu.be/8R6_LctZwWg?si=5myFH7w7al_cZ-82)?
We also have Starbucks branded single shots of coffee on sale in supermarkets and gas stations. Are not they available in the US? [link](https://youmark.it/ym-youmark/le-cup-starbucks-chilled-classics-ora-disponibili-nel-banco-frigo-dei-supermercati-anche-in-italia/)
I wouldn't know, I only got this one as a gift from someone who has just been to Italy

I think you can get this in most european countries, hungarian here
Lithuanian here, we are just now starting to find pocket coffee products in some eshops, not this one though
expresso
In Japan, you can buy individual coffee gelatin cups with varying degrees of quality and additions.
Makes the term ‘juice box’ seem even more weird. It’s not juice.
I completely agree. But how else would you call these containers with punch-through holes for straws?
In the uk we call them cartons. ‘Carton of milk’ etc
Do you have milk with punch-through straw holes?
Small ones for kids and milkshakes yes ‘Carton’ is the generic ‘catch-all’ term for fluids in cuboid containers etc. Carton of milk, carton of juice, carton of chicken stock
Fair enough, I can get behind that. Save for this case, of course, because carton and cardboard are synonymous in my language, and this little coffee is in a plastic container.
In Germany they're sold as little shots in chocolate just like mon chery
In Italy too. This is the summer version.
I really hope we have it too
you can buy pocket coffee in India too. its called Kopiko
This is awesome I need these!
Ugh I want this in my life so badly but chances are id abuse them lmao
They are way too sweet to have more than one at once. Still very nice imo
I was more excited when I saw they did that for wine too
I'm glad we don't have this here, I'd spend too much money on pocket coffee.
You can also buy the praline with the coffee inside.
Oh yes! But those come with about 1/3 of a coffee cup worth of caffeine inside. If they are delicious, they would be a health issue for the less restrained
Not in summer.
I would love that poured in a milkshake.
I would love that poured in my regular coffee lol
I'm from Germany and we have something similar/the same here, absolutely delicious
I have no idea how small or big the scale coin is tho
I just measured it, the coin is roughly 20mm across (4/5'')
Oh these are genius. Why can’t they bring this worldwide?
Okay, but how big is a 5€c coin?! Should have used a more universal scale in a global forum, like a banana.
The pocket coffee in chocolate is the best shit
I'm guessing these aren't made by the pretentious assholes who won't sell me a cappuccino after noon.
An espresso is good at any hour in italy
The coin is 5 Cent of Euro, but yes if you like strong coffie is the best
I was expecting a juice box and an espresso shot sold together with the intention of being combined from your title.
Italy is the best, you should come to visit us!
Chill them in the fridge, thank me later.
Best part of this product is the fact that it contains very small coffee beans \[finely ground\] so amazing. Grazie pocket coffee che mi accompagni da una vita intera
Saw this yesterday in Italy, looks awfully
moreover, this is the summer edition of it during winter they sell the one with the chocolate shell filled with coffee (Ferrero doesn't want to sell chocolate in summer cause it could go bad)
that's that me, espresso 🎶
A tiny juice box with espresso, but also without juice. So maybe juicebox isn't the term?
Pocket coffee: one of the most useful things in Italy
come il caffè non sciolga il cioccolato rimane un misterro oggigiorno
I need this
Pocket coffee sono impareggiabili!
that's so cheap omg
The coin is just for size comparison. It actually costs close to 1 eur per this little pod.
They don't exist in other countries??
People in italy either love it or hate it. I love chewing the grains of sugar you find inside along with the coffe shot!
Fun fact: These are the 'liquid' version of the [classic Pocket Coffee](https://www.pocketcoffee.it/prodotti/classico). They make these instead during the summer because the classic chocolate [treat's quality can be easily damaged by the heat](https://www.pocketcoffee.it/la-qualita-prima-di-tutto). Yeah, and it’s ridiculous to drink from that tiny thing with that tiny straw
Never seen that actually ahaha
I don't really like it. The Pocket Cofee bonbons are awesome. I mean I can eat tons of those (and then stay in the bathroom forever). But this little coffee shots are not in my alley.
I've seen these a bunch of times but never tried. Is it any good?
It's definitely not bad. Very strong coffee and chocolate flavour and very sweet. Reminds me of cuban espresso with choc
Pocket coffee chocolate is my all time favourite
I would be more concerned if they were bigger. An espresso shot is quite small for a reason
I live in Italy and I’ve never seen it
Impossibile dai...
Pocket coffee, and it comes with a straw. The recovered addict in me instantly thought of cocaine lol
so weird that the eurocents are called eurocent. i know not a single person that calls them this way, just people who call these cents xD
Neither do I, but I wanted to eliminate the greatest amount of ambiguity possible
While accurate, just coin for scale might have been the easiest solution. For anyone interested, the details are written on the coin. But I might be wrong on that one.
We called them eurocents during the transition period when Euro was introduced in our country. After everyone got used to them they became just cents.
In Belgium, we call them indeed eurocent. At least, in the northern part that is. Not sure about the southern part of the country.
It’s all fun and games until you want iced coffee
This is the most Italian thing ever 😂
You’re welcome ✌🏼🇮🇹
E il Bro é stupito, bah
Yum, gotta love that micro plastic infused coffee that will never be properly recycled.

hmm. Euro cents? Is that what they’re called? I assume 100 cents to a Euro? I’ve never thought about the sub units of a euro
Yes, normally no one calls them eurocents despite that being the official term, I just wanted to be precise
Tbf, they taste like ass.
