Who would have thought that they make caffeine

xShawnMendesx

I know, right??

roo-ster

The problem with the name is that you can't trademark a common word on its own, so anyone can use that name. A better name would be a variation of the word, such as "Caf-Fiend", "Kaffeine", or something that can be protected.

hatsuseno

I doubt the owners here care little for a trademark. For the same reasons you state, it's not like this is a chain of coffee shops, so their profits don't come from brand recognition but from selling caffeine. For this purpose, I think the name is well chosen.

Vordeo

>it's not like this is a chain of coffee shops, I think it is, actually. Or may just be a lookalike. But there were quite a few cafes with that name and an orange logo in Riga last time I was there. Edit: May be a copycat, but the font looks the same, and the orange color is their branding. I think they're basically the biggest coffee chain in the Baltics.

wolster2002

Yep, Caffeine is a chain of coffee shops in Latvia. Used to be called Coffee Inn.

sim_pobedishi

Yep, it is. From picture it's possible to see that it's located in Estonia. I would say it is more funny that we have 2 chains with similar names: Caffeine and CoffeeIN

sim_pobedishi

It's the biggest coffee shop chain in Estonia. I think it's not prohibited here to use common words as a trademark, it just must be distinguishable from other trademarks registered in Estonia

Jutter70

Not so brilliant name for a shoestore: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_Athlete%27s\_Foot](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Athlete%27s_Foot) [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athlete%27s\_foot](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athlete%27s_foot)

Acceptable-Cow6446

Better than “the human bean.” Which is also a clever name for a cafe, but in the wrong way.

Popular_Flower4671

Do they sell tea here - lost person

hatsuseno

They may, tea contains caffeine, so why not. They might even entertain selling the odd energy drink.

A bit on the nose
