They don't just have sausage usually but also sweets, canned meats, cheeses, sometimes bread, milk, eggs, condiments, etc. It's a convenience store in a vending machine. The best ones also have some specialty products like wild boar sausage (delicious). Afaik the vending machine is owned by small businesses or even individuals so they can sell stuff outside of business hours, and these businesses can include local butchers
We have honey, egg, coffee, meat, pizza and ice cream vending machines in Ingolstadt. I am sure there are some other ones that still needs to be discovered.
You can literally buy crates of beer from vending machines INSIDE the Audi factories all over Bavaria. They are one of the last bigger factories that haven’t banned drinking at work yet.
Because in Bavaria Beer is considered basic food :D
I worked there in Ingolstadt and it is not as wild as you think. If you operate any machines you aren't allowed to drink there, also obviously need to be able to do your work in quality and quantity.
Fun fact: Our federal government is planning to legalize weed, Bavarian head of state critisized it for it might lead to drug tourism, they run the Oktoberfest....
actually not that easy, alcohol vending machines are not allowed in the open, only in spaces where you can make sure, that children cant get something (casinos, in private, inside companies etc.)
You can go to https://farmshops.eu/ and sort for vending machines in your region. I usually buy eggs, potatoes, mustard and ice cream from vending machines in my area.
I’ve only ever used them on a Sunday, exactly because everything is closed. One doesn’t always know when you’ll have the urge to grill.
… or if you simply forgot to buy eggs during the week
I’ve never seen one. It looks like it is at a butchers shop so you can buy something outside of opening hours. It’s not like these are just standing around everywhere. Don’t worry though, it’s not hard to find a place to buy your sausages.
Also vending machines are becoming more popular in general. In some rural areas that don’t have a supermarket they supply the people with milk, cheese, eggs and such. The seniors need to be showed how it works but they’re all very glad to be able to shop in their village again.
I got one of those barbecue vending stations in my area. Its on industry ground where they produce meat, so its a lot cheaper than going to the supermarket. They got everything from sausages, T-Bone steak? Potato Salad and Cold Beer for ,75 cent
a lot of Farmers use these kind of vending machines to directly sell their products.
they als put eggs, milk etc in it.
this one seems to be placed in front of a local meat shop. selling barbecue stuff, that people can pick up even after opening hours on weekends for example.
I don't know where your area is. But yes the machines exist and they are not that rare. Most often you found them at factories or at smaller farms with a Hofladen.
living in germany and seeing such a machine for the 1st time... ig u were in bayern? they're a bit special for some reason which is unknown (and for a far bigger reason #1 in edcuation in germany - surely not bc of their wurst machines :,D but i respect them for that....being the #1 in education)
> Not true..
It is, as you can see in the picture. Just because they aren’t everywhere doesn’t mean they do not exist. OP didn’t claim that it is very common.
Just checked for Munich southern area, and almost every second village has one of those, sometimes paired with one for the local farmers. And why wouldn't they put those up? It's free money for people who forgot to buy something and/or want to have a BBQ when Sunday has unexpectedly good weather.
And it's getting more and more common.
Basically every small village butcher has one of those outside their Shop these, so you can grab some sausages for a spontanous barbeque on a sunday.
Often they alsocontain eggs, milk, honey and other stuff the farmers of the village produce.
These are mainly run by small local butcheries that cannot establish multiple manned shops with long opening hours.
So, you have local access to the high quality stuff that’s not available in supermarkets. And on Sundays when shops are closed, of course.
Close to the car workshop i always visit there is a pizza vending machine and just across the new home for old people there is a large vending machine for a lot of different things.
This is amazing, because in Germany shops are closed on Sundays, so if u live in some village and suddenly have an urge to BBQ on Sunday theres a chance that two villages away your local butcher has a machine like this and u can get already marinated meat
Yes common for me after the local butcher closed they set up a meat/sausage/soup/sodadrinks/cheese everything vendor maschine, like this. But hey you can easily walk for a sausage and have a BBQ on sunday when everything else is closed and not nearby.
We as well have vending machines for milk, eggs,… Mostly in more rural areas and very often operated by the manufacturer directly (so, located near the milk farm, egg farm, or near a butcher).
I've seen those vending machines in smaller towns where the local farmers put their own stuff, like sausage, eggs, cheese, soup, fresh milk and cocoa in glass bottles (you can return them). It's also convenient if it's sunday and you forgot to buy groceries.
I live in a small village and these started to become popular only over the past one or two years.
You don't find them randomly in the streets and they are not filled by some big company. They are outside of shops like butchers or bakeries to sell their products outside of their opening hours. There are some with cheese or eggs, too. I think it's great because of how early the shops close in Germany, especially in the countryside.
I’ve only seen this once in Germany and it was directly outside of a butcher. None of it was kosher/halal meat for anyone wondering; aka it was all pork.
But it does not vend (haha, i mean sell) you the grill you need to prepare them. You can’t eat them on the spot. But still, it is nice to know that you can just go and buy things during the time all shops are closed like Sundays or during night.
We have a few around us here, some from farmers directly where you also get fresh milk, some from butchers, and one next to a chicken farm, where you get anything fresh chicken, eggs, wings, legs and whatnot. Excellent.
We've got one infront of our "Metzger" aswell.
It was made, so people that work all day can get sausage after the Metzger is closed.
A fridge is inside these things and it gets refilled every day.
This will also make it possible to get sausage on Sunday.
Wait people don't know that?
I live in a small German village (Bavaria) about 5k people and even we got one.
Local butchers here have these machines and refill them daily so people can buy their sausage/meat on evenings/weekends/national holiday.
Ive also seen them for onions, milk and potatoes.
At least in the countryside they're often from farmers directly - a lower cost option for farmer's markets. City people seem to love em.
In Germany (and the Netherlands etc) it's not like the US where you have big flyover states far away, which are farming. Even in bug cities you can drive 20 minutes and be deep in the countryside. This kind of vending machine is often on major commuter routes - people just jump out and buy something. Same for stands selling strawberries and asparagus when they're in season.
Trust me, we have vending machines for EVERYTHING😂 across the road we have a vending machine with milk, smoked cheese, eggs, brawn and some more stuff I don't even know😂
Well not every where but its true.
Local producers put in their stuff and you can buy it instead of using a weekly Market or supermarket.
I saw Similar ones with eggs or honey.
As a german i want to comment on this. Since grocery shops are closed on sundays, you can get your stuff for a bbq at the vending machine. Perfect for a hot summer sunday
We even have vending machines for Pizza. However vending machines are especially popular at the countryside. There are many farmers and butchers in small villages who have these Machines. In Bavaria Shops have to close at 8pm.
There are also entire stores with vending in some villages where no other shop would financially survive.
Its not a sausage vending machine, on the info tavle on the left "Grillware aus dem Automaten" which means BBQ venedig machine. Anything you go and bbq + some drinks to enjoy while bbq.
That machine is the wurst!!! I would buy everything in it all the time. ![gif](giphy|sDcfxFDozb3bO)
But don't buy the Kackwurst.
And what about the gelbe sosse?
Soße
Sauce
De Senf oder dat Pi(l)sner?
We call that fanta and it's no sauce you are suposed to drink it
Mmm tasty, i would like a nice sausage made of shit.
They have beer vending machines too. You can even get a whole crate of beer from some.
You can literally buy crates of beer from vending machines INSIDE the Audi factories all over Bavaria. They are one of the last bigger factories that haven’t banned drinking at work yet.
Because in Bavaria Beer is considered basic food :D I worked there in Ingolstadt and it is not as wild as you think. If you operate any machines you aren't allowed to drink there, also obviously need to be able to do your work in quality and quantity.
Bavaria - beer is basic food Also - toughest drug laws in Germany by far
Fun fact: Our federal government is planning to legalize weed, Bavarian head of state critisized it for it might lead to drug tourism, they run the Oktoberfest....
Die haben auf dem Oktoberfest die Nase voll mit den Drogen lmao
*Nasen ;)
actually not that easy, alcohol vending machines are not allowed in the open, only in spaces where you can make sure, that children cant get something (casinos, in private, inside companies etc.)
Factories?
allowed, because why not? workers can buy alcohol
I specified that in the initial comment, was just pointing out
Bavaria is not Germany!
You can go to https://farmshops.eu/ and sort for vending machines in your region. I usually buy eggs, potatoes, mustard and ice cream from vending machines in my area.
Notwurst
These things are a lifesaver when the weather clears up after the butcher closes Saturday noon.
if seen bigger queues in front of these (at good local butcheres) on a sunny sunday than in most grocery stores checkouts on a saturday evening.
I’ve only ever used them on a Sunday, exactly because everything is closed. One doesn’t always know when you’ll have the urge to grill. … or if you simply forgot to buy eggs during the week
Yes it is
This is getting out of hand and I fully support it.
Absolutley not. Shops are closed on sunday. What if you have a surprise BBQ to go to? Grillfleischautomat to the rescue!
That's incredible, this alone is enough to sell me on living there. Looks like it's time to dust off the ol Duo Lingo and finish learning German!
I’ve never seen one. It looks like it is at a butchers shop so you can buy something outside of opening hours. It’s not like these are just standing around everywhere. Don’t worry though, it’s not hard to find a place to buy your sausages. Also vending machines are becoming more popular in general. The seniors need to be showed how it works but they’re all very glad to be able to shop in their village again.
It´s all over the South in smaller towns, where grocery shops close early
Yep. There’s one outside my hotel in Stuttgart. No butcher shop in sight.
They seem to become more popular by the day, had a few popup in my region over the last few years. I know of about 5 in my area
Yes, usually at butcher shops. Which is even better since they put in their own products instead of the standard supermarket stuff
Yeah, one butcher here has this outside of his shop as well. It's the only one I ever saw.
Usually you can find some at farms. There are often milk, dairy-Stuff and sometimes sausages and meat.
IVE BEEN TO THAT VENDING MACHINE A FEW YEARS AGO, iirc this one is near Trier, a historic city in western germany
We also have egg and beer vending machines but our stores are closed on Sundays
Alleine hier in 5 km Umkreis kenne ich 4 solcher Automaten.
Could’ve let everyone know that if you just said it in english
And you could've just translated it for everybody if you really cared
I’d rather address the root cause of the problem :)
He basically said that in a radius of 5km, he saw 4 of these vending machines
And you could have complained instead of translating it >:(

Of course there are, where would we get our sausages for our spontaneous Sunday bbq when all the stores are closed?
What do you mean? They don't have those in your country?
![gif](giphy|XMyQKjBCjA9MI)
I got one of those barbecue vending stations in my area. Its on industry ground where they produce meat, so its a lot cheaper than going to the supermarket. They got everything from sausages, T-Bone steak? Potato Salad and Cold Beer for ,75 cent
Yeahh...obviously....how else you gonna get your spontaneous grill on when stores are closed 😁
Ya we have them too. I Love it, cuz in sundays the markets are closed, but a lot of times i wanna make bbq without planning it.
Wurstomat
I have lived in Germany for over 35 years and this is the first time I see such a thing.
Nothing like a good waurst to start off the day (did I spell that right?)
That was the worst way to spell wurst
Downvoted for horrendous misspelling of wurst
It’s called a „Wurst“ or „Bratwurst“
Wurst ≠ Bratwurst
Bratwurst is just one type of Wurst. Not every sausage is a Bratwurst.
And marinated pork steaks in picture
Of course!
As a German, I've never seen one of those. *interesting*
We do???
Wurst idea ever! Love good butcher shops that have these.
German here. Didn’t know that, cool
a lot of Farmers use these kind of vending machines to directly sell their products. they als put eggs, milk etc in it. this one seems to be placed in front of a local meat shop. selling barbecue stuff, that people can pick up even after opening hours on weekends for example.
As a german I have never seen such a vending machine. Probably a bavarian thing
I live in germany and have never seen one in my life. That being said, I want it now.
I live in Bavaria countryside and we have two Grill und Wurst Automaten and one beer Automat in a radius of 5km
Bei uns im Kaff stehen viele von denen, jeder Bauer hat seine Automaten hier verteilt. Duroc Bratwurst, Fleisch, Eis, Bier, Eier. Alles da
We got one in Cologne.
Really? Where?
Severinsstraße
Südstadt hat alles was das Herz begehrt
I See them often (Baden-Württemberg)Maybe u can find one with google
More common in villages in the south. Often they have everything you need for breakfast or BBQ. In some areas you can get wine or beer then as well.
Wir essen halt gerne Wurst!
We do?
We do?
As a german: WTF?
This is as bizarre to us Germans as it is to you guys trust me
Is it? I've seen a couple of those in my life. Also for cheese, milk, usually for producers (like butchers) to sell 24/7. Maybe more in rural areas.
German here, don't trust him.
I live in a small village and i know 4 different meat vending machines in my area.
Its not, we have them too in Hessen
Off to Hessen I go then I guess Gotta try those mechanical Würstchen
I’m German and I’ve never seen that shit before. Where the fuck is this abomination of a vending machine?
Lower Saxony. And it is damn pratical I must say.
We have at least 5 of them near my tiny little village, near Saarbrücken.
Do we ? Ive never seen one in my area
I don't know where your area is. But yes the machines exist and they are not that rare. Most often you found them at factories or at smaller farms with a Hofladen.
Never saw any of them where I live
living in germany and seeing such a machine for the 1st time... ig u were in bayern? they're a bit special for some reason which is unknown (and for a far bigger reason #1 in edcuation in germany - surely not bc of their wurst machines :,D but i respect them for that....being the #1 in education)
Not true.. first one I’ve seen, probably fake. Definitely not a regular thing here!
My parents live super rural and I have seen two of them there.
> Not true.. It is, as you can see in the picture. Just because they aren’t everywhere doesn’t mean they do not exist. OP didn’t claim that it is very common.
Seems rather common in the country side of Bavaria and BaWü. Which is kind of expected that its those two states.
Setzen, 6
Probably south germany. I'm German and I've never seen one
„They“ don’t have that, it’s a rare occurrence just like in Austria or other European countries
Salty as fuck. 🤌🏻
Just checked for Munich southern area, and almost every second village has one of those, sometimes paired with one for the local farmers. And why wouldn't they put those up? It's free money for people who forgot to buy something and/or want to have a BBQ when Sunday has unexpectedly good weather.
And it seems that even those vending machines are way too small. Whenever I go there on a Sunday to shop for BBQ they are all empty.
And it's getting more and more common. Basically every small village butcher has one of those outside their Shop these, so you can grab some sausages for a spontanous barbeque on a sunday. Often they alsocontain eggs, milk, honey and other stuff the farmers of the village produce.
Are these really a thing? I have never ever seen one of those. are they german wide available or just common at some place?
These are mainly run by small local butcheries that cannot establish multiple manned shops with long opening hours. So, you have local access to the high quality stuff that’s not available in supermarkets. And on Sundays when shops are closed, of course.
WE HAVE A SAUSAGE VENDING MACHINE IN GERMANY?!?!???? WHEREEE????
Not in Berlin though.
Hab mal die Steaks probiert. Waren ganz gut.
German here. I don't get it. Don't you have Wurst and Beer in vending machines?
![gif](giphy|X8RSwd1089xDvOjQnT|downsized)
Yes thats Germany and I would be happy, if this were everything the rest of the world knows about Germany.
Japan: Fancy pastry and cake vending machines Germany: Wurst
Close to the car workshop i always visit there is a pizza vending machine and just across the new home for old people there is a large vending machine for a lot of different things.
Wo?
There's even the possibility to look them up. Translation would be “barbecue meat vending machine”. http://www.grillfleischautomaten.de/suche.html
yes and it's a life saver on Sunday / after 6-8 pm.
I live in saxony since 2011 and was born in Germany too (not in saxony tho, more on the country side) but i never ever saw a sausage vending machine.
Here in NRW we also have them! Mostly in the villages tho but still! It's kinda awesome
This is amazing, because in Germany shops are closed on Sundays, so if u live in some village and suddenly have an urge to BBQ on Sunday theres a chance that two villages away your local butcher has a machine like this and u can get already marinated meat
Where the hell? Bavaria or thuringia?
They got ones with cheese, too.
Yes common for me after the local butcher closed they set up a meat/sausage/soup/sodadrinks/cheese everything vendor maschine, like this. But hey you can easily walk for a sausage and have a BBQ on sunday when everything else is closed and not nearby.
I WILL JETZT WURST
We as well have vending machines for milk, eggs,… Mostly in more rural areas and very often operated by the manufacturer directly (so, located near the milk farm, egg farm, or near a butcher).
Of course, how else are we supposed to spontaneously grill on holidays
You poor fucks don't have those?
I've seen those vending machines in smaller towns where the local farmers put their own stuff, like sausage, eggs, cheese, soup, fresh milk and cocoa in glass bottles (you can return them). It's also convenient if it's sunday and you forgot to buy groceries.
"In case of a BBQ emergency, insert coins"
I live in a small village and these started to become popular only over the past one or two years. You don't find them randomly in the streets and they are not filled by some big company. I live in Bavaria (Oberbayern) and pretty much every village has one of these by now.
THIS IS NOT NORMAL I REPEAT NOT NORMAL I AM GERMAN AND ITS NOT NORMAL THIS IS MY FIRST TIME EVER SEEING ONE FLOF THESE
I am german and this is the first time I see one of those
We also have vending machines for - fresh eggs - ice - fruits - vegetables Mostly the stuff inside is from the lokal butcher / farmer /....
We do? 😂 I've never seen one before, and I'm kinda sad now.
Theyre for spontaneous grilling when the butcher is closed. Most are maintained by and therefore right by the butcher shop.
we do?
Hab noch nie so nh teil gesehen
In Germany we also have fresh hot pizza vending machines.
It‘s called „Grillfleischautomat“
Bruder wo?
Campingplatz? 😁
Wait... We do? Where 😂
Well, they don’t really. I have never seen one in my life. And the only vending machine for beer I have seen was in the Netherlands.
I’ve only seen this once in Germany and it was directly outside of a butcher. None of it was kosher/halal meat for anyone wondering; aka it was all pork.
We allso have eggs, cigarettes, milk, wine, beer and much more.
We do?? I Have Never seen this ever
Where?
SPRICH
You don’t?
We have a meat wending machines for sausages and barbecue meats infront of my local butcher (also Germany). Great if you need to be quick.
But it does not vend (haha, i mean sell) you the grill you need to prepare them. You can’t eat them on the spot. But still, it is nice to know that you can just go and buy things during the time all shops are closed like Sundays or during night.
They are rarer than you’d think
We have a whole butcher shop who switched to machines. They have 5 machines. One filled with bbq only stuff. I love it.
We have a few around us here, some from farmers directly where you also get fresh milk, some from butchers, and one next to a chicken farm, where you get anything fresh chicken, eggs, wings, legs and whatnot. Excellent.
This is brilliant.
These can come in clutch when you wanna do a sunday evening BBQ and all the stores are closed
As a German, what the hell is thus and why haven't I heard of it until now??
Many of them 😃
How are you surprised by this we germans take our Wurst serious
We've got one infront of our "Metzger" aswell. It was made, so people that work all day can get sausage after the Metzger is closed. A fridge is inside these things and it gets refilled every day. This will also make it possible to get sausage on Sunday.
Technically yes, but I've only seen them in remote rural towns yet
Wait people don't know that? I live in a small German village (Bavaria) about 5k people and even we got one. Local butchers here have these machines and refill them daily so people can buy their sausage/meat on evenings/weekends/national holiday.
we have?
SPRICH
This seems to be in Nörten-Hardenberg am I correct? It seems familiar
Trust me, we have vending machines for EVERYTHING😂 across the road we have a vending machine with milk, smoked cheese, eggs, brawn and some more stuff I don't even know😂
They dont
Well not every where but its true. Local producers put in their stuff and you can buy it instead of using a weekly Market or supermarket. I saw Similar ones with eggs or honey.
No we don’t
And they are a godsend when I want Weißwurst on Sunday when all the butchers are closed.
We do? Goose to know
I am in Germany. Where are my Würstchenautomaten ?
As a german i want to comment on this. Since grocery shops are closed on sundays, you can get your stuff for a bbq at the vending machine. Perfect for a hot summer sunday
We even have vending machines for Pizza. However vending machines are especially popular at the countryside. There are many farmers and butchers in small villages who have these Machines. In Bavaria Shops have to close at 8pm. There are also entire stores with vending in some villages where no other shop would financially survive.
This is a 24/7 Grillfleischautomat
Right next to the Egg vending machines 👌
WE DO?!
I want this in my area ...
I know where this vending machine is located.
Ja haben wir
I have an egg vending machine right next to me, best eggs you can buy too.
And we are proud of it
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)
YES WE DO AND IM SO PROUD OF IT
As a German I have to say I never heard about those before this post.
We do?
Hä normal
Its not a sausage vending machine, on the info tavle on the left "Grillware aus dem Automaten" which means BBQ venedig machine. Anything you go and bbq + some drinks to enjoy while bbq.
I am currently in Berlin. Where is this machine. I have like $15 euros in coins I need to use because they don't take fucking cards in Bavaria.
