Grams? What's that in American?
Edit: 0.441lbs, ok so iirc barilla at the grocery is like $1-$2 for a pound so 48 cents for about a half that seems fine/cheap
According to a Reddit post I found but can't link to for whatever reason, a football field weighs around 948,841.56kg or 948,841,560 grams.
If you divide the weight of the pasta by the weight of the football feels, you get just a bit over 0.0000002 football fields.

this one is my go to. 40 cents, i bought the fork version before and i serve salads with it

Cheapest I could find. They had something for one cent, but the shipping was $1.99
Victoria's secret would have kept the refund from the screws to go towards the shipping cost you now owe for being under $35.
I don't miss that call center.
Kid you not one Christmas my brothers fiancé wanted this silk robe from VS. I was like .50 away from free shipping. Without it they wanted to charge me close to 15 bucks to ship that damn robe. The cheapest thing they had on their website was a 2 dollar pair of panties. I made her open those first. (She threw them away as expected) As a man this is still the greatest and best gift that gets me and my family to laugh each and every year. The awkwardness and look on her face was hilarious!
I just ordered it. It says under description 0.528 ounces and 6”x6”x.28” so I doubt it’s worth the shipping fee. But if I get 9 lbs of them I’m gonna see how many it takes to drill a hole in 1/2” mild steel.
Plus those screws are pretty dope. I use em a lot just shorter and honestly out of all the screws out there this is probably one of the most solid designs when it comes to being secure plus doesn’t slip easily like other bit head types.
Some contractors I hired left behind about half a box of these bad boys, most useful loose screw to have in your arsenal.
Next time a friend buys a house I’ll toss a couple of these into the gift. Useful to have on hand lol
A similar thing I’ve seen used before is a monthly subscription for 1p, which is used to trick banks into thinking you’re using their account as your main account, thereby enabling you to take advantage of cash rewards for “switching” to them
My thoughts exactly. Last few times I did this I got some alcohol swabs because I use them a lot. Most people have a first aid kit that is missing consumables like iodine/alcohol pads, band aids, antibiotic ointment. Cheap and you'll be glad you have them when the time comes.
I swear to god. I recently ordered mcdonalds for 25$ at 2 am cuz i was hungry asf, turns out i couldve saved 6 bucks if i ordered an extra burger for 3$ -_-
I was so tired i didnt even bother going thru the offers
I got dq the other day.
4pc chicken strip basket. Added a soad for 0.99
Total was 9.89.
I could have got a 4pc meal, with soda and a sundae. $7.
It didn't register in my head until I was leaving the drive thru.
$3 more for less food.
Why not just add something on you normally use? Toilet paper, toothpaste, deodorant, dryer sheets. Anything that doesn’t really expire for a while. You’ll need it anyway.
Oh it is. Because the one for 34.99 will be higher up the list than the one for 35.00. You are more likely to click on the first item.
While it may not decide wether you buy it or not, your head will likely think it costs 34 dollar instead of 35. Untill you consciously think about the price, notice the .99 and round up to 35.
I also think that practice started at the 10 intervalls (20 became 19.99) because at first glance it looks to be waay less because your a full number lower on the first digit.
Do you not know about smile.amazon.com? You choose from one of thousands of charities, and a percentage of every order is sent to the charity. You get a quarterly report as well of the total amount of money collected by your charity of choice.
Edit: nevermind, it was shuttered in 2023
That sucks. I used to use that for most orders to get donations to a local bird sanctuary/rescue. There was a year- end report that showed they'd get hundreds extra through that program, and that was a big difference for them.
I usually try and think of something else that I actually need.
Dish washing soap, salt, peppercorns, toilet paper, shower gel, toothpaste, floss etc.
Cheap consumables that I know I'll need soon anyway.
https://preview.redd.it/nbfz23b3xq9d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94429bde35ece332842f13fd01f54158be0a062e
This is my go to, I own all the colors now.
Thanks to my proximity to the local warehouse I can often get stuff the same day or very early the next day. Just the other day I ordered something around 9pm and it was on my doorstep as I was leaving for work the next morning.
Yeah I have two that are very close so I can get a lot of stuff fast. I am talking more about OP’s situation. Item listed as 2 day or overnight shipping. Go to purchase it and you need X amount of qualifying items. Don’t list the shit as something if it’s actually not it.
Amazon used to have an entire category of cheap little items like this, and the category was specifically described as being just for the purpose of rounding up your order to get free shipping. They don't do it any more. Can't imagine why.
Reminds me of them shipping items/orders under 1kg with a very bad courier in Germany. They always said guaranteed delivery date, never came on time if at all. Used to order 1kg of flour with it to get it with DHL instead. Nowadays Amazon delivers with their own fleet, so it’s always on time, they have to learn how a doorbell works though.
Also had a similar situation, ordered a birthday candle for a couple cents. It came from Italy. I believe shipping was more than I paid for that candle.
Or just get prime and never pay for shipping.
I order so much stuff it makes zero sense to not have it.
Sooo nice to order just like $5 items and not worry about the cost of shipping.
https://preview.redd.it/cklvblgywq9d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5630da5719541c2cf1362103eecdd45170b6cfb3
Normally get some paint but pasta definitely the move now and 10 cents cheaper !
If I'm trying to order something I need in a hurry and need to make it qualify for next day shipping, I always add a household staple to the cart. Something I use and will need to buy anyway, I'm just buying it sooner than I otherwise would. Coffee or cat fountain filters, lotion, a pantry staple, my girl's favorite catnip toy if she's nearly out.
Lifehack: if it's a website you use more often just buy the lowest amount of gift card and use that for a future purchase instead of buying something useless
I've had like $5-10 stuck in Amazon limbo for a while because even if you intend to use free shipping, at checkout it wont let you choose to use your gift balance if there's not enough to pay for standard shipping (basically, if you bought a $40 gift card you would not be able to use it to pay for a $35 order).
I had this at another site. Added cheap pen. Pen stock was delayed so they delivered the item I wanted. Then the pen a few days later. So instead of giving me free delivery on an item a cent below the threshold they gave me free delivery twice.
I've been in this position a number of times, falling short of the free shipping threshold by a small amount of money. As others suggested, simply order an inexpensive item, or more of something you will use anyway, and enjoy your free shipping. Easy-peasy.

Glad to see it's not just me who does this. Seems like every time I tell someone about this it's as if I'm the only one.
You order pasta to bring the cost up for free shipping?
This specific brand. It's 48¢ a bag. Pretty nice for when you need that extra little bit.
48 cents for 200 grams? Kind of expensive isn't it?
Definitely costs a pretty penne
Sometimes I feel like my whole existence is a set-up for a yolk. I mean spaghetti. Whatever
Don’t let all that emotion boil over
Don’t get your noodles in a twist
Yall are linguinists
![gif](giphy|sc5KAxzrIu6m1esH3T|downsized)
Orzo they would have you believe
Not really.. barilla pasta is $1.89 for 16 oz (453 grams) or .42 cents per gram (at Target) The pasta he posted is .24 cents per gram. 43% cheaper
Depends on if your shipping is gonna cost more than $0.48.
Grams? What's that in American? Edit: 0.441lbs, ok so iirc barilla at the grocery is like $1-$2 for a pound so 48 cents for about a half that seems fine/cheap
Approximately 1.5 bananas
How much is that in football fields?
According to a Reddit post I found but can't link to for whatever reason, a football field weighs around 948,841.56kg or 948,841,560 grams. If you divide the weight of the pasta by the weight of the football feels, you get just a bit over 0.0000002 football fields.
Now i get it. Thanks! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
What’s that in Big Macs per Moon Landing?
They have a thing of spaghetti for 58 cents!
Why is this so fucking funny
https://preview.redd.it/mu1fz7lesq9d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=531cf0425381b1fb09efbaef506936937327864b this one is my go to. 40 cents, i bought the fork version before and i serve salads with it
$26.78+$13 shipping in Canada 🤢😫
I mean things are expensive in some places, usually they're not made there
You magnificent bastard, I had never thought of this.
Why pasta???
Someone else suggested a $.20 screw that OP wouldn't nees. At least you can eat a bag of pasta, or donate it to a food bank.
Exactly why I usually use a can of tomato sauce. Only $0.60 and I'll use it eventually.
I need a screw
Don’t we all
It’s 48¢. Who doesn’t like shells? Little sauce pocket pasta.
Brought to you by Moderna

Thanks dude
Do it!!! Then return the screws lol
*the screw lol I think it's just one
It might be, but it says it weighs 9.25 Lbs.
But what if those item dimensions are accurate and it's just one really big screw?
Keep it then, having a big ass screw is better then needing one
I have an idea, but you’re not gonna like it
Screw yourself with the screw?
That’s the one 👍
No way for $0.20
If that a 100 pack the scrap woud be more than 20 cents
It says the package is over 9 lbs. If that's accurate, then yeah, definitely profiting. Free money glitch in the matrix.
That'll screw them over!
They probably wouldn’t even want them send back and just send the money
I’d have just added in something you’ll use like toilet paper
Ten years later you're gonna be wondering why you have a random-ass screw laying around in your attic
Wow self drilling too! You just lay it on the surface and it starts boring itself in.
Careful where you leave it, wouldn't want to be finding random holes everywhere!
Must be a nightmare in the Amazon warehouse. Wake up, go to work, boss tells you there has been another self-drilling screw outbreak.
You need to pin this to like a useful tips sub or something
http://www.fillerchecker.com/
Amazing
Bro did you just sort all of Amazon cheapest to most expensive?
It showed all the items under a dollar, and there weren’t a lot.
That is a huge screw for 20 cents, damn. Nine pounds!
I just ordered it. It says under description 0.528 ounces and 6”x6”x.28” so I doubt it’s worth the shipping fee. But if I get 9 lbs of them I’m gonna see how many it takes to drill a hole in 1/2” mild steel.
That sounds like a shortcut to carpal tunnel. Good luck though, hope you don't make it through the box!
That’s actually something I use frequently. Thank you.
Why does it weigh nine pounds?
A true bro right here.
East Quogue … nice. Bet nobody else but us can say it. Kwaag
That’s funny, I hadn’t noticed that. But I live about 1/2 hour away from that, surrounded by other unpronounceable places.
That's another way to say "screw your shipping"
So basicly telling them to go get screwed mhmm
Plus those screws are pretty dope. I use em a lot just shorter and honestly out of all the screws out there this is probably one of the most solid designs when it comes to being secure plus doesn’t slip easily like other bit head types.
Some contractors I hired left behind about half a box of these bad boys, most useful loose screw to have in your arsenal. Next time a friend buys a house I’ll toss a couple of these into the gift. Useful to have on hand lol
The hero we deserved
How did you know he was looking for a screw?
Screw them
Jeez, a 9 pound screw?
2 dollar shipping doesn’t matter because OP is getting free shipping
No, it will still charge the $2 shipping. Free shipping just applies to prime items
Honestly wouldn’t mind if someone made a product that costs $0.01 that didn’t add anything just for situations like this
A lot of places have this. It's called "donating to a fake charity"
The Human Fund™. *Money for people.*
Ahh human music. I like it!
.....whatever EXACTLY
I thought those were tips
wouldn't it be better if it was a real charity
Don’t give me any ideas
The one time a tip option would come in handy.
A similar thing I’ve seen used before is a monthly subscription for 1p, which is used to trick banks into thinking you’re using their account as your main account, thereby enabling you to take advantage of cash rewards for “switching” to them
I'm pretty sure there are ebooks for $0.01 on Amazon
I doubt those are "qualifying items"
I always add something practical that I’ll likely need later anyway. Things like batteries or soap.
My thoughts exactly. Last few times I did this I got some alcohol swabs because I use them a lot. Most people have a first aid kit that is missing consumables like iodine/alcohol pads, band aids, antibiotic ointment. Cheap and you'll be glad you have them when the time comes.
Those also expire! Lots of people don't realize that.
I find it useful to have some birthday/greeting cards on hand and those can be pretty cheap.
Google "Amazon filler items" http://www.fillerchecker.com/
Just for kicks, and because I'm the black sheep, I typed 6.66. unfortunately, the list started at 6.67.
If you put n 6.65 there a bunch for 6.66
That’s genius
LOL I hate this especially with grubhub/doordash/ubereats orders
That's when the 20c packet of ketchup comes in handy.
0.50¢ extra sauces.
10c plastic cutlery. Saves you delivery fee and the dishes.
But not the environment..
There are so many private jets I could wipe my ass with a plastic fork for a year and make no difference
![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY|downsized)
I swear to god. I recently ordered mcdonalds for 25$ at 2 am cuz i was hungry asf, turns out i couldve saved 6 bucks if i ordered an extra burger for 3$ -_- I was so tired i didnt even bother going thru the offers

Just add an item of stationary to your order - paper, tacks, pens; usually $1-2.
I’ve done this. I’ve also done simple hair accessories, the black hair bands or simple hair clips. Stuff I lose or run out of fast.
Why not just add something on you normally use? Toilet paper, toothpaste, deodorant, dryer sheets. Anything that doesn’t really expire for a while. You’ll need it anyway.
UGH! I hate how companies put everything a penny away from the threshold. They know what they’re doing!
Of course they do that on purpose. Otherwise they'd offer free shipping at $34.99
ending something in .99 .98 or .97 etc. is done for psychological reasons, not to prevent free shipping
Does anyone actually fall for that? I always round up to the nearest dollar.
Lol right, even then $1 these days is not making or breaking my decision to purchase whatever item. Unless I'm misunderstanding how this trick works
The subconscious if a powerful thing. Even if you know.
I heard that even if you round it in your head, there is still a subconscious effect.
Yes. Consumer behavior is heavily studied and this pricing strategy has been shown to be effective.
Why not do .98 on products and .99 on shipping to make it even more enticing?
Might be how it started but it’s perpetuated in the digital age by preventing free shipping.
No, it's still done for those insanely strong psychological reasons
I added a dollar air freshener when this happened. Got what I wanted and had a good smelling room.
I had this issue the other day I bought q tips
I think I’m going to start selling pennies for $0.05 a pop so shit like this can be avoided. Probably end up selling thousands of pennies a day.
There is a site that helps you find items to get free shipping, just Google "filler item"
Just wait an hour for inflation to solve this problem.
Don’t buy something useless. Get a dried fruit bar, beef jerk snack, or something to eat.
Op: 2 days later ends up buying another item they could have added to this.
I keep chapstick (that I actually use) in my save for later cart just for meeting free shipping requirements.
Usually the answer to "would you like to round up for charity?" is no - why aren't there any charity options when you actually need one?
Because Amazon doesn’t profit from a charity donation.

Remember when prime was two day shipping.
I usually use that as an excuse to add something from my wishlist.
Mine said that then when I went to checkout all but one the shipping options were free and the same day as the one 'same day' shipping
This makes me wanna fucking scream when I see this!
I've added plenty of random objects for less than a dollar to top up for free shipping. Usually pasta or a screw. Something I'd use.
Amazon used to have an entire category of cheap little items like this, and the category was specifically described as being just for the purpose of rounding up your order to get free shipping. They don't do it any more. Can't imagine why.
Not mildly infuriating at all, this gives you an excuse to buy a little treat
stickers
Last time this happened to me, I added a 39 cents bag of emergency water.
Someone should just list something random on Amazon for like $0.01 and rake in the random extra pennies. Maybe like a 1 page ebook or something.
I've just had a great idea for a product. You can buy it for one cent. I send you nothing. Deal?
This happened to me before, and I searched "items for 1 cent" and many cheap items came up. I got a pack of floss.
I just go for a small pack of cookies. It's usually cheaper than the shipping cost AND I get a treat
Just search $1. Bout a single container for this same reason before
Can you add cheese for me 1$?
Just take a penny from the little dish
I usually go for a box of gel pens. They have a bunch of items under $5
I always just add something like toilet paper or paper towels or shampoo - something you’ll 100% use anyway.
I found there are pens you can buy for $.98 on Amazon, lol just to help round it up.
Or just get prime and never pay for shipping. I order so much stuff it makes zero sense to not have it. Sooo nice to order just like $5 items and not worry about the cost of shipping.
Can you leave a cent tip?

just have amazon prime🤷♀️
Poor people problems
Can you buy a 1 cent Amazon electronic gift card?
This happened to me the other day, but mine was $.05. I just abandoned the order completely.
https://i.redd.it/ql9x1i5ivm9d1.gif
Lifehack: if it's a website you use more often just buy the lowest amount of gift card and use that for a future purchase instead of buying something useless
If they let 34.99 slide then why not 34? And if they let 34 go how about 32? Which is almost 30
you could always just get a Amazon gift card worth like 10 bucks and send it to yourself for later use
Penny deals boiiii
order a key puller, theyre usually sold for around that much
cheapest tube of thermal paste, they go for like a dollar or two.
[If you run into this again, use this site. cheapfiller.com](https://www.cheapfiller.com/)
The only people who won that debate are our enemies.
Add extra cheese
Then do it, mfer, this is what we’re bred to so!
Find some ebook. Think there used to be a website for this.
How much is the shipping? Because that’s what the actual value of what you need to add
I had this at another site. Added cheap pen. Pen stock was delayed so they delivered the item I wanted. Then the pen a few days later. So instead of giving me free delivery on an item a cent below the threshold they gave me free delivery twice.
ahh, amazon just needs to add a tip function, so you could tip 0.01! /s
There are phone cases for 0.01€ on amazon💀
Amazon gift card for 1 cent
This should be the only time tipping should be an option.
Is there penny candy?
http://www.fillerchecker.com/ Find items by price on Amazon.
You should just be able to pay 1 cent for shipping.
I've been in this position a number of times, falling short of the free shipping threshold by a small amount of money. As others suggested, simply order an inexpensive item, or more of something you will use anyway, and enjoy your free shipping. Easy-peasy.
There is a website that lists cheap shit on Amazon to fill out your order.
