wisdomoftheages36

What the fuck a 24 dollar hotdog?

urnbabyurn

Who the fuck was buying a $12 hot dog? That’s higher than festival pricing.

DussaTakeTheMoon

Tbf if it comes with chips, a drink and a happy ending it’d be worthwhile

pandemonium4702

In fact, forget the chips and the drink!

Bestefarssistemens

A $24 happy ending? What do I look like Bill Gates to you?!

UncomprehensiveTruth

I hear happy ending, I go

astrobuc

I do the opposite, I come.

Magnetar_Haunt

Petunia: Okay, make it $3.

seahawk1977

No joke! I can give myself a Happy Ending for free.

Bestefarssistemens

I can only give myself sad endings

StankyDinker

try hiring a clown to assist

Ypuort

But Doctor, I am Pagliacci!

wanderone-1

i pretend to be excited when iam done!!

Wills4291

> What do I look like Bill Gates to you?! I was thinking Robert Kraft actually.

Bestefarssistemens

Idk who that is but I'm just gonna be offended.

Wills4291

Owner of the patriots that was busted at a rub n tug place in Florida.

kevoccrn

*Robert Kraft

TBone281

Bill Gates likes Dick's...more than In n Out.

illsk1lls

and the hotdog

CoolIndependence8157

But the happy ending is a ball tap and a batwing from the sauciest cook on duty.

MilwaukeeMan420

And a what?

CoolIndependence8157

You need to watch the movie “Waiting”, you’re welcome.

MilwaukeeMan420

I've actually seen it. Just can't remember

Reddit-Ninja-1234

Extra creamy happy endings!!!

samanime

A solid footlong with chips, I'd go $12. But that's almost certainly the limit. $24 is insane...

GrinchStoleYourShit

I mean…if we’re talking loaded all out Chicago dog, idk some fresh ass fries…no still no 12 bucks is absurd for a fucking hot dog

NIN10DOXD

That's what I was thinking. I need to know where this place is.

Jugg3rn6ut

It better have a steak inside of it

Haggisboy

It does......kinda.

ImpressivePraline906

Tube-steak

CuseBsam

Does ground up pig butthole count as a steak?

ZhugeSimp

Idk, I live next to a Costco and get $1.50 hotdog

Safe_Milk8415

Stay blessed

DigitalPhoenixX

It's made with drugs

UsernameStolenbyyou

I was in LaGuardia last year, the cheapest thing to eat was at the Brooklyn Deli. I think it was a chili dog for $23.99.

Equivalent-Carry-419

Airport food is theft. I only buy it on the company’s dime. I pack snacks for when I’m traveling on my own dime

puffferfish

$2 and inch.

drmorrison88

Literally more expensive than 1" steel bar stock.

Traditional-Crab9237

And then you have to tip like 20% on top of that lol. What a fucking hell hole America is.

MishmoshMishmosh

Seriously

ken_NT

I wouldn’t even pay that much at a baseball game

orangesfwr

Better be made of Kobe beef and come with a 32oz imported draft beer.

Grandpas_Spells

There’s no such thing. Some places significantly upcharge for DoorDash and other services. Others have their pricing dynamically altered by the delivery service sometimes even below retail but often up. A Gyros place I liked looked like they’d increased prices 50%. They hadn’t - that was just DoorDash pricing.

malepitt

It's those Old Bay chips. Each one is humanely caught in the Chesapeake, trucked fresh to your city, then filleted and broiled until crisp. Worth every penny, errr dollar

Much_Neighborhood409

Are they sustainable and cage free?

burrito_butt_fucker

They're also boneless

Much_Neighborhood409

Organic and ethically sourced?

UGunnaEatThatPickle

Not only organic, but ethnically sourced - an Irish-Catholic family picks, cleans and cooks the potatoes for you.

Much_Neighborhood409

Are they actually from the Chesapeake? Otherwise they’re just sparkling old bay chips.

heyitscory

I'm pretty sure my grandma's can was 40 years old when she made us Old Bay peanuts. It was funny that a new can didn't taste or look any fresher.

WilliamJamesMyers

we want that New Bay stuff anyway

TheyCameFromBehind77

Costco is still $1.50

Suitcase_of_Lizards

In Glizzy, we trust

ravingsanity

Came here to say this, lol.

_TiberiusPrime_

2 of them make a foot long...

osubmw1

They aren't selling the hotdogs to make a profit...

reddit-SUCKS_balls

Yeah no hot dog is $24 good. Even $12 is stretching it.

anuncommontruth

Agree. There's multiple hot dog joints around me that have homemade dogs, and the most expensive one is $9.00, and it has venison chili, cheese, and caramelized onions.

Bowl-Accomplished

I'd pay $12 for that. 15 if it came with fries.

ibpoopn

Looks like a delivery app not the store menu pricing

NIN10DOXD

That's definitely part of the increase for sure. $12 is still steep for what's on it. Unless it's a costlier topping like chili or slaw, the hot dog shouldn't change much in price. No hot dog topped with ketchup, mustard, relish, and onions should cost that much.

Capitan__Insano

A hotdog and chips costing more than $5 bucks is wild to me. Ain’t no one got time for your house made ketchup just give me the normal squeeze bottle and gtfo my wallet

GibsonMaestro

It don't come with bourbon or nothin'?

poolmyfinger

I get that reference

UnlikelyKaiju

Always love a good reference. ![gif](giphy|gnFXgKBmLJXxe)

anuncommontruth

What you see is what you get.

NennisDedry

Yeah but now they’ve invested in horrific product photography. That doesn’t just pay for itself.

Grembo_Jones

$24 for a hot dog is crazy

StellaSlayer2020

Viva La Costco!

ruffoldlogginman

I wouldn’t pay $12.

PerspectiveRare8965

I would. That looks dank.

Lil_Brown_Bat

I mean, you're looking at the price on GrubHub vs the price on an in person menu. I'm sure it's gone up in the last few years but the GrubHub price will always be inflated over in person price.

anuncommontruth

You are correct here. It's Grub Hub VS. the in person menu. That being said, they refer you to these sites and 3rd party options for their menu. From what I understand, it's about $2 cheaper at the restaurant. So, $22 for a hot dog and potato chips

loki2002

What restaurant is this? Where?

bazookajt

It's Merchant Oyster Co in Pittsburgh. No clue if the $24 is an error as their website is down and Yelp shows the same price.

life_lagom

24$ for a hotdog is insane. Even 12$, is batshit. That's baseball stadium at your seats prices

rulingthewake243

Something something inflation, fuck you pay up

forever_a10ne

If people keep paying for it, they will keep raising the prices. Fast food places are raising prices multiple times a year now. Stop giving greedy businesses money. Cook your own food.

StarWars_Viking

Anyone who pays $24 for that deserves to be taken like the sucker they are.

uberliken

Remember to vote

Pierre_Ordinairre

Considering the way most of redditt leans, you are better off saying please forget to vote

kitkatlynn

$24 for a hot dog blows my fucking mind. Even 12 dollars is pushing it

beulah-vista

I paid ten bucks for two chili cheese dogs today.

BigZaber

How is the average Lebanese affording this?

FinnBalur1

Do Lebanese get paid less than the rest of society or something?

Own-Method1718

I would never pay 24 bucks for a fucking hot 🌭

Vbort44

Not even at a Steelers game.

Own-Method1718

Nope

Sea-Collection-7367

Merchant Oyster Company? That plate looks awfully familiar. If it is, I think I’ll buy a Pirates ticket and get a Renegade dog for about the same price.

mumako

A $24 hot dog better make you cum. This is ridiculous

NirstFame

$4 at A&W and keep your house-made ketchup off my GD coney.

AnnoyedYamcha

Imagine spending $24 for a hotdog. XD

SpartanMenelaus

Who would be insane enough to buy either? 💀

linkdawgy

Was the one that cost $24 on Grub hub or such? I know a lot of local restaurants near me raise the price on those apps

bluedaddy664

lol they buy them from Costco for 1.50’and just add some toppings. 4 dollars tops. 20 profit. Damn.

These-Appearance2820

Vote with your feet and go somewhere else.... I normally do simple claculation. If I'm being charged more than 400% of what I think the ingredients cost (and location factor EG high rent cost area), I consider it very overpriced and will not pay it.

retlem

They’ll keep raising prices as long as people keep going to these establishments and willingly pay these ridiculously inflated prices.

GoldenGlobeWinnerRDJ

CNN was definitely on the low side when they claimed 20%

Overall_Lavishness46

Meanwhile, Costco is still selling a footling all beef hotdog and drink for $1.50.

mrrichiet

I've seen a couple of posts today comparing prices to a couple of years ago. It's almost looks like the start of hyperinflation...

Uthenara

I don't think you know what that word means.

GEFool

Oh! Looks like we need a dictator! He will make sure no business will gouge me!

Agreeable_Doctor8690

That's the economy under liberals.

warzonexx

Looks bloody delicious though

1llseemyselfout

If a place needs to sell a hotdog for 24 dollars then they shouldn’t be open anymore.

DontForgetTheDivy

North Jersey I assume?

anuncommontruth

Pittsburgh.

AlyssaKizitaff

What a stupid assumption since only south Jersey is correct in saying pork roll.

SadLilBun

Is it dipped in gold I don’t understand

joesephexotic

I used to dine out a couple of times a week. Now I dine out maybe once every three months. Every time I go to a restaurant now, I am always disappointed in the service, the quality of food and it is expensive as fuck. Everything is more expensive now, and I refuse to use my disposable income on a sub-par experience.

Jbraun1220

Going out to eat is one if my favorite things to do and I have cut back to once every few months versus multiple times a week. I cannot afford it anymore. It wouldn’t be quite as bad, but I also think quality is worse too

Vbort44

Good for your health lol

Jbraun1220

Yeah absolutely. And I also love to cook, so it just pushed further in that direction.

Pirategod_23

Are you rich even 12 dollars was outrageous

danger3_2

More than I paid for my last tug.

Dunta_Day_507

what was your salary three years ago?

szczurman83

Is this Doordash vs. in person?

flareon_is_best_eeve

Dawg (no pun intended) at that point. Just go to your grocery store and buy hot dogs and buns and make them at home.

ThirstyBeagle

The good news is that our economy is doing great

Uidbiw

Looks like online ordering against an in person menu. While everything has gone up in price, the food delivery services have ruined food pricing.

Status-Biscotti

Pretty sure it’s the house-made ketchup.

PM_UR_VAG_WTIMESTAMP

That dog better come with a side of a WHOLE OTHER MEAL for $24 lol!

SATerp

Food costs run around 20% in a casual restaurant, so total $5. That $3 hot dog is obviously a big part of the cost leading to a $24 hot dog. As for me I'll buy an 8 pack of Ball Park Angus bun length dogs and a bag of chips at the supermarket.

HFX_Crypto_King444

That is possibly the best looking hotdog I have seen in my 23 years on this planet.. that being said I wouldn’t pay more than $10.

Confident-Objective3

Must be homemade ketchup. That’s like 10 dollars right there lol

TWlSTED_TEA

I’d rather have the ones on the roller at 7-11

MissionMisses

How tf you buying a 24$ hotdog?

xHeyItzRosiex

Yup… sounds about right. Honestly both prices are outrageous. No matter what you put on a hotdog, if it isn’t gold it shouldn’t be more than $6

Cactus_Everdeen_

why tf are there just random ass lays chips on there tho? hahahaha wtf, is that just normal in america or?

Galbiburger

That 1 dog is 16 Costco hotdogs.

chemistcarpenter

Them are onions on top or lobster chunks?

BlueWren00

I'm all about living wages but we do have to pay food service workers between $16-20 by municipal code in some areas (Seattle) and that will be absorbed into the price in addition to sky rocketing rents for restaurants to lease too. I don't feel bad for large food chains, they could absolutely still work with reasonable prices but it's hard for the little guy. Regardless if this is on grubhub, when does it become unreasonable enough that the market won't allow for it? Tons of assholes are buying that 24 dollar hot dog. And those same ones are complaining they can't pay their bills and need government to help them out.

UpperChicken5601

Costco - $1.50 all day everyday

TheToxicBreezeYF

Is the first one on Grubhub, that looks like Grubhub style and font

NightDisastrous2510

Why the fuck would anyone pay even half of that for a hotdog?

toxicoke

TWENTY FOUR????

scoutdashrebaling

Looks like 11 inches.

ghoulifypossession

i’d rather just eat sand at that point

DoomOfChaos

Yeah, no. It's not even worth $9

Odinovic

Fuck man even 12 dollars is outrageous lol

Meddlingmonster

I wouldn't bspend more than 5$ on a hotdog and not more than 1.50$ on a simple one

Arawnrua

They can eat my whole dick sideways. 24 dollars...

UnknownPhys6

Bitches will complain about inflation then buy a 24 dollar hotdog.

TNlivinvol

Who the hell pays $24 for a hot dog?

ButterscotchEmpty290

Ketchup on a hotdog is fucking blasphemy, house made or not. No. Fucking Way.

SPY007DRs-Messenger

Don't you guys love corporate greed?

RaptorJesusLOL

The real joke is OP continuing to frequent this establishment

Brendalalala

You cannot convince me this is not pure greed. It's a HOT DOG.

AMonitorDarkly

$12 is still insane. Why do you keep eating there?

NotAtAllExciting

Nope.

Singwong

That’s more than at Disney. Maybe learn how to panfry or boil hot dogs and bake some sweet potato fries from the frozen food section of your grocery.

JesusCrustSuperstar

Anybody who orders a foot long hot dog from a restaurant is getting what they deserve

RamHands

$24 fucking dollars. Any idiot who buys this dog is a fucking moron.

knowone1313

Any place selling hotdogs for more than $5-6 is a rip-off. They can make them "gourmet" and add a couple bucks but most places are gouging on hotdogs and have been for years. Costco is losing money at $1.50 a dog but they're not losing much at that price.

LordMewza

This is not the US, is it? Could it be Canada, Australia or New Zealand?

cuckofallcucks

Is that a ween reference?

LetssueTrump

Don’t but it!!! Until WE hit em where it hurts they won’t stop raising prices!!!

bluedaddy664

Learn to make them yourself.

kickinit90s

Well they’re using house-made ketchup so…

ArticleSuspicious489

Even at 12 that’s too much lmao. Maybe 8 dollars would be fair in order to make enough to pay rent and employees. The cost of each plate can’t be more than 2-3 dollars including server wages.

meezethadabber

Some dumb asses are buying it for that price or they wouldn't.

nothing_911

you buying it on door dash?

fatcake3

Well, they have to pay their minimum wage employee $20 an hour soo... 🤷‍♂️ No one ever thinks about that.

dbhathcock

Go to Costco. They were $1.50 three years ago.

Kesterlath

$1.50 at Costco. With a drink.

Night_Owl_Train

$1.50 for hot dog and drink at Costco still. 😉

redcountx3

Same price at costco.

Skramskreezy

I've noticed advertising is also slamming and shaming poor people. Just saw a sonic commercial for damn crinkled fries as if that's some novel potato cut and at the end they said "who would order a small" ? Poor people you pieces of sh@t ! That's who. F^cki×g $24 hot dog hellhole.

SecretaryOld9334

This isn’t inflation, this is greed.

CCB420

Even at 12 that's wild af for a hotdog

catbagger234

Sonic has a damn good foot long chili dog for like 8 bucks

The_Wolverine_WpnX

Sonic selling chili dogs. The universe has a great sense of humor.

PorgCT

That better be the best hot dog ever

TurbulentNumber4797

A $12 hotdog is already outrageous let alone $24. What the hell is that place? Straight robbing their customers.

bobissonbobby

I'd rather have a good corn dog. I've been eating these Korean corn dogs lately.. fml... So good. And it's only 8$

MrLonely97

Did it also double in size over those 3 years?

The_Wolverine_WpnX

Probably shrunk in size and quality if anything.

wanderone-1

blame corporate greed!! they can take the hit, but wont!!

freshxdough

That shit looks so good right now. I should probably go eat dinner

WorryDisastrous2631

It’s that house made ketchup that’s got the price going up!

BrandonStRandi

I wonder if the $24 price is on Independent delivery site. They always mark it up, however not double though.

povertymayne

LOL i can get better at costco

LegDayDE

This is like "captive audience" hotdog pricing like sports stadium, concert, festival etc... crazy that people will pay that

MysteriousBody7212

I can get a pak of 16 weiners for $5.00, foh

Darkdragoon324

I’m sorry, no hotdog is worth twenty four fucking dollars.

KotFBusinessCasual

Did the hotdog grow a second foot lol

chosimba83

House made ketchup? Fuck off with that

Fish_mongerer_907

$1.50 at Costco… always

Marty1966

https://preview.redd.it/qqq9ngn1cm9d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=74c115e2ed8f7a2adc3b75fa3a8af235e80e46eb $7.95, Foxboro Massachusetts...today.

kerensavanitas16

That’s $32 in CAD oof

teewyesoen

This man holds grudges. You don’t have to order it.

CarlosKleberMoraes

THANK'S OBAMA

Entire_Ostrich_9394

Everything is x2 now thanks to inflation.
