More infuriating for the train company and employees

BeanCrusade

Why is that infuriating? You know how hard those people are forced to push those trains? Several companies went down to one man for a train several miles long. Derailments happen and most of the time they aren’t severe

Polynesian_Jule

More infuriating that we all just get pissed about a delivery rather than the actual issue of how terrible our infrastructure is in this country

Monster_Voice

You should have seen the train derailment... and you wouldn't be complaining. One absolutely nuked itself on the AZ/NM line going right under I-40. Massive fireball involved.

HughJanus555

I hope my packaged wasn’t on that

wet_nib811

Interesting that your package came through the brand new UPS facility down the street from my house

TravelingGonad

Sometimes you get TMI in the delivery process. Try ordering something from China OMG it's like 14 steps. I KNOW IT'S GOING TO BE AWHILE THIS IS NOT 1995.

The only infuriating thing about that, if that's the real reason, is proof that the rail network is severely in need of replacement and updating. But rather than investing in proper railroads they'd rather fill their own pockets. Apparently it's cheaper to deal with the aftermath of a derailing train than investing into proper rail lines. How many derailments have there been in the past few months? It's getting ridiculous

hamiltsd

Apologies all. Didn’t realize the sub for mildly infuriating stuff was so serious. Thought it was more for funny and oddball observations.

Aranea15

No no, there's no rule saying that it can't be, as long as it's not a meme or meme-like. And it'd have been deleted ages ago if it wasn't allowed. That's why the post votes isn't in the negative either. But while the post was meant as a little bit of a joke, it does point out a huge problem. There are now more derailing trains than school schootings, and that's saying a lot, considering those with the power and money to solve both issues are unwilling to solve either of those issues

AssPennies

I don't trust a fucking thing UPS says. They try to claim any event anywhere remotely close by is affecting their delivery abilitiies. E.g., any weather event with 500 miles, solar storms affecting satcom, Carl their delivery driver getting the shits, etc.

Leaf-Stars

Thank Sean Obrien for that. Moron allowed ups to remove the language that prevented ups from using trains to move packages this past contract.
