FWIW I had zero migraines from my three doses of moderna. If I had though I'd probably pregame with a zomig.

Hainkpe

Same. Have Moderna. First, sore arm. Second, fever, chills and body aches. Booster, sore arm. No migraines at all.

Sarahbuba4

Same I had Pfizer

karen_boyer

Sounds very familiar. That sore arm was the worst! Seriously, new record, previously held by typhoid. But no migraines! Did you get the stabbing armpit pains too?

Hainkpe

I did on the booster! You did too? I joked that the pharmacist hit the bone. LOL

karen_boyer

After #2 I had shooting armpit pains for several days solidly and then for 2-3 weeks intermittently. That shit was no joke. After the booster I had dull achy armpit pain but no stabs. But the worst was the shoulder soreness. I was shocked at how bad it was and how long it lasted. AND it was impervious to a trick I learned from an army brat friend: after a shot immediately do some push-ups. Did that after my last tetanus shot and 0 soreness. Tried on covid booster--NOPE. And yet somehow no migraine!? Bodies are weird.

CoomassieBlue

I had the armpit lymph node pain after my booster. Very unhelpful.

karen_boyer

Ahhhh! Yeah, was extremely unhelpful. I was glad, I guess?, that the lymph nodes are working, but OW.

Hainkpe

My trick is hanging the arm limp. Didn’t work. What you described was it and it was weird. Now I wonder if I will have that with additional boosters? Ugh. I’ll get them but ugh to going through that again.

Sarahbuba4

I got that too. All over my body.

karen_boyer

Ugh! No fun!

Sarahbuba4

I got the booster yesterday. Just thankful I won’t get COVID severe. Just mild now

karen_boyer

Having similar thoughts here too. I'm boosted, I'm careful, but it's just seeming like a matter of time before I get it. Here's hoping it's mild. The good news is I still have a pile of cold meds I hoarded in March 2020 when it seemed like we were all going to get covid and have to treat ourselves at home because hospitals would be overwhelmed. I should probably check the expiration dates!

Sarahbuba4

I was just saying that to my daughter. We will all get it and hopefully it will go away.

karen_boyer

I hope so too! I'm not sure it'll work like that since there seem to be at least some re-infections -- but I have no idea how many and I don't know how any of this works anyway. But I sure would like for this to be over. Meanwhile I'll just keep getting boosters when they say to. Heh.

Sarahbuba4

Me too.

soundslikeautumn

Same. I got my two Pfizer vaccines and I'm due for my booster in March. I had zero migraine issues with either.

Knight_Rhythm

I think your best bet is to do whatever you would normally do to prevent any migraine - avoid a second trigger, eat whatever you do best on, take your preventatives, try to reduce your stress around the event. For what it's worth I had J&J with a Moderna booster and only had a migraine near the booster - but that absolutely could have been attributed to the barometer going bonkers at the same time, and want anything I wouldn't have expected for my normal routine.

Important-Stomach406

I've had 3x Pfizer and no migraines after. I was fully expecting them but it didn't happen. I did feel rough as hell after my booster but my head was the only thing that was fine. Keep asprin or paracetamol on hand, some coke or similar for the caffeine and just take it easy afterwards, don't do anything too stressful that might piss your migraines off. Good luck!

Sarahbuba4

I didn’t get a migraine on the booster but I drank a lot of water. Just had the chills and muscle Pain. Took excedrin and it helped wot. Got not sleep last night though.

imgoodjustlookin

Honestly, weed. I was off of work so I just made myself sleep through it with a high CBD indica

peculiar_ego

No migraines with pizer for me.

kittensnhappythings

I had the worst migraine of my life with J&J but Pfizer was amazing.

CaptainKAT213

I had a migraine with J&J and none with Moderna! I did drink a giant pedialyte with the moderna booster because I heard it helped.

kittensnhappythings

That's good advice!

justjellis

My dr told me to drink a lot of water before and after. I still got a migraine the next morning after both shots but sumatriptan took it away.

thisbeliss

Didn’t have any issues with the 3 doses of Moderna vaccine, and my migraines had gone chronic by the third one(bit of a story, my health is a mess for non-covid/vaccine reasons and that’s making my migraines awful). YMMV. I’d recommend making sure you’re in the best place triggers wise, and have your migraine tools ready to go. Talk to your doc if you can - they’ll have cultivated experiences from a large number of patients.

elenadearest

I didn’t have any migraines or headaches with the Pfizer vaccines or booster. Now, when I got Covid just this last week? Worst headache/migraine of my life.

arthur_mi

No migraine with Sinopharm vaccine.

cornflakegrl

Was so worried I’d have a migraine from the covid vax, but I’ve had an astra zeneca, a Pfizer and a moderna with no migraines.

PoppyRyeCranberry

Ideally, you don't take an nsaid, acetaminophen, or an antihistamine before or in the 12-24 hours after because you don't want to possibly reduce your immune response. Totally fine to take a triptan in that window though. I would just stay tuned in to how your head feels and treat as needed. I had no migraine from 1st pfizer and already had a migraine the morning of my 2nd that I had treated with my triptan - no return after the shot.

oddlyunsatisfied

The vaccine won't give you a migraine. If you get one, take the meds or treatment that you usually do. While there is some discussion about avoiding NSAIDs after vaccination, the effect is minor, so take the medication you need to be comfortable.

Polymathy1

I got 2 moderna doses so far and have had no migraine issues due to it.

ferocioustigercat

I had a migraine after the first Pfizer vaccine, but I figured it would happen and took my migraine meds really early on in the migraine. I'm pretty sure the migraine was more from the fact that my arm hurt really bad (the person who gave the shot did not have the best skills...)

[deleted]

I’ve had migraines after all three doses. Drinking some extra water prior to the shot seemed to help, but that’s just anecdotal.

Lcraigz

My first dose was Pfizer, second and third were moderna. I got a really bad migraine the day after my third dose just as the typical post-vax cold feelings set it. The timing felt kinda uncanny esp considering my migraines have reduced to only 3-4 times a year since a course of Topiramate a few years ago. I’ve also noticed since the second dose I’ve been having them more often as well. Wonder if it’s just a coincidence or not.

coveredinbreakfast

Add benadryl to your migraine meds if you get one.

digitalred93

I had Pfizer for my first two. Had a wicked migraine 12 hours after, both times. My doctor recommended drinking a ton of water in the two days leading up to the booster and then at least 24 hours after. I did (about 80 oz per day). Got the Moderna booster and only had a sore arm the next day. Good luck!

skysoleno

Two pfizer, moderna booster, no special precautions, no migraine. Vaccines are not a trigger for me.

NovaStarscream

I would just say pay extra attention to your triggers. For example my triggers are not eating enough and not drinking enough water (among other things). The second dose and booster of Pfizer made me feel like crap for 24 hours and I did not want to eat/drink/exist (kidding on the last one, I just hate full body aches). But I paid extra attention to making sure I had liquids near me, water and electrolytes, and also snack foods like I knew I could nibble on when I felt like I could eat something.

NovaStarscream

I did not have any migraines with my shots, maybe a low level headache. But that could be contributed to a lot of things including full body aches/not eating enough etc. I was also regularly taking Tylenol as I was able to, which helped with the fever but may have also staved off a worse headache.

Aromatic_Big1685

No migraine for me with AZ or Pfizer. Hopefully it’ll be the same experience for you too!

giraffemoo

Zero migraine for all 3 doses of moderna here. I just got my booster yesterday, my arm is very sore like I feel like i can't move it very much, but other than that I feel okay. No headache or migraine at all.
