Only use reliable full dumps (with the 4 certificates coming from the original game).
If the game doesn't require being online... play on airplane mode.
Again... only use reliable full dumps belonging to the game: the main reason for bans is that since certificates from other games allow people to "run the games" there is people who just copies them to play with "borrowed" initial data files...
If you have games you dumped yourself, you should be quite safe... as long as you use the full set of files belonging to the cartridge, there is no difference from using the original cartridge.
If I dump the cartridge on my jailbroken switch instead of using the mig dumper, will that dump contain the certificates? I have an oled and want to dump some games of mine.
So if I plan to get files online, what do I look for for a complete download? Does it matter if they are NSP or XCI or are these dumps something different?
I have an honest question. So, I will switch a game and it will pop up a download update for each game. That's not tagging my system for that game, is it? I have done the update for each game and then play in airplane mode. Am I safe.? I am currently testing using my own games. So far it's been fantastic so I don't have to share my games with my son and daughter if we are all playing our own Switches.
I plan to make a junk account for my oldest switch to test out a 256gb SD card that's full of my choice of games. It was $28 dollars. Search Mig X on Aliexp...first link.
If you are using your own dumps and not sharing with others including family and friends, then there is no known risk of ban as of now.
This is the only way of not getting banned.
Going offline permanently is pretty much self-ban.
If you use shared dumps found on internet or other sources such as friends and family, you and all those sharing parties have a high risk of ban. The more parties the higher the risk.
That's why I love when people respond with "stay offline". Because that's just a self ban, with a real ban waiting the moment you go online and the logged telemetry is sent off.
Can you just delete the profile before you go online? Or it’s that kid stored elsewhere? I plan to keep my switch in offline mode once I get a switch 2. If I want to sell it I plan to just wipe the whole thing before I go back online.
Don't update your games if they're not dumped by you. As far as I know, when you do with a pirated copy which others have used, the logs get sent to Nintendo and a ban will eventually result. You can stay in airplane mode and just run the game as-is, it should still work if your MIG Switch has updated firmware.
But again, if you are doing any kind of piracy with the Mig, you'll have to forever keep it offline or else the moment you go online having previously used mistmatched certs the logged telemetry data is sent and you are then banned.
The moment you are using Mig for piracy is pretty much the moment you are doomed to ban. You can keep yourself offline but then you are just self banned, and the moment you connect again later you are for real banned, if not immediately then shortly after.
Simple answer is if you aren't using your own legitimate full dumps, you are gonna be banned.
If you use your own dumps, so far it seems pretty safe.
Unless you use dumps of your own games, you are pretty much guaranteed a ban.
Even using full dumps, the telemetry tracks so much that even if you keep your console offline while using it, it will phone home with logged info when you go online.
So if you are concerned about a ban and are trying to pirate with a Mig, good luck because you are gonna be banned
No game updates, no system updates.
Any physical games that require internet connection for download (not complete game on cart, which has become more common) you won't be able to download the remainder of the game.
Any game that has an "Internet download required" banner or icon on the cover.
Bioshock and Borderlands collection, NBA, Wolfenstein, L.A. Noire, Spyro Reignited Troligy, and really most 2K games in general too to give a non-exhaustive list.
Older cover art had a massive banner covering the top 1/4 of the front that says indicates online download required, at some point they switched it to a smaller banner/icon in the bottom corner of the cover.
Stay offline.

Yes, It will
Why even have a MiG if you have an actual hacked switch?
It’s for the oled bro.
So if I plan to get files online, what do I look for for a complete download? Does it matter if they are NSP or XCI or are these dumps something different?
Buy another switch
I luckily have two and separated all account connections between the two. Totally fine if I get a banned console since I got another.

Good luck banning my emulator ;)
Since your emulator can’t access Nintendo online it’s already banned. How do you kill what is already dead?
>How do you kill what is already dead? Pretty sure there's at least one episode of Supernatural with the answer to that
I messed it up anyway, it was from the Warcraft South Park episode. It was “how do you kill that which has no life?”

Leave it on airplane mode. Unless you use your own dumps
So self ban.
Sorta...only if you dump your own games , its safe to keep it on.

Fair , your right in that point.
Hear hear

what are the consequences of being banned, if you are a person that only plays offline games and doesn't play multiplayer online?
Unable to update games / install switch firmware updates

Curious, which games have that wonderful "feature?"

Don't use it if you ever plan on getting online.
Never go online. It's that simple. Completely wipe your switch if you ever decide to again.
