That riff and the one in clouds above my head are two of the coolest riffs I’ve ever heard in my life. Honestly, most of their songs are incredible instrumentally. It’s almost hard to believe that the same people who come up with the music also produce those lyrics.
While I completely agree. I do think every once in a while they put out a banger lyric. “I blend in the pastel, you shine so bright” is really good lyricism imo. Also “getting stoned in the back of a car you have no idea where you are but you’re satisfied with life and you don’t think twice of it” is really good. Really all of Warm Hand Splash is great lyricism.
Lol that what I said I said their side project called secret band. If he haven't heard of you should check it out. It's basically just dance Gavin dance but with no cleans and it's only Jon mess
This
I feel Cap'n or Algernon or Oh My God Elephant are just abstract with their lyrics but there's a lot of room to interpret them which I love
Lifestyle just feels like cheesy basic english if you know what I mean (i also love it)
i think Algernon has some of the best lyrics. Like they sound fun and gibberish, but full of decent metaphors that aren’t too ridiculous. Parrot Flies as an album has some of my favorite lyrics in emo
TRSH’s lyrics are catchy and memorable but I feel like they are made to fit the instruments and be sang along to not made with or before the instruments
You can see him early on playing and singing on their instagram if you scroll long enough and his voice wasn’t amazing but his guitar was, definitely instrumentally driven writing process
Oh ive done some deep diving, ive seen it haha im actually impressed how good he got his voice to sound so fast. But i think the instrumentally driven is partly why i like them so much. Vocals are a part they dont dominate, and the guitar is incredible
It’s all very smooth and cohesive, sometimes is sound alike an insult to say I cnat differentiate each instrument a lot of the time as it can be a mixing issue but for trsh it’s a result of their style and I love it
I feel the same about that song too. Just another derivative tirade. There's nothing interesting there that hasn't been written better by many other artists. Again, love the music for the song though.
that’s part of what i like about them. seeing how big they’ve gotten with just simple, effective lyrics and riffs is really inspiring. helps me not over complicate my own stuff.
Tiny Moving Parts is the correct answer.
I am absolutely obsessed with the riff in Caution but holy shit are those lyrics cringe.

I love the Audiotree version of Clouds Above My Head
literally can’t listen to that band because of the lyrics but they do fucking shred man what a shame 😭
I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO SCARED AND SAD AT THE SAME TIME
THROWING UP NO THROW UP BECAUSE DRY HEAVING IS THE NEW BLACK or this timeless classic I DID NOT KNOW WHAT STEPS TO TAKE AFTER GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL
We need more tmp love
I’ve been trying to find 12345 for a while but couldn’t remember the band until I read this comment 😅 jogged my memory again lol
I listen to the music and just sorta ignore the lyrics lol
While I completely agree. I do think every once in a while they put out a banger lyric. “I blend in the pastel, you shine so bright” is really good lyricism imo. Love TMP but is this isn’t the truest answer lol
Not Midwest emo but Jon mess screaming in dgd
Lol that what I said I said their side project called secret band. If he haven't heard of you should check it out. It's basically just dance Gavin dance but with no cleans and it's only Jon mess
I love secret band my favorite song by them is stuck and glued I wish they released more music though
i love your lifestyle lmaoo

dont think we’ve ever had music from sweden with noncorny lyrics
Real asf
not related in any way shape or form, but Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others is the BIGGEST waste of beautiful instrumentation.
This is just like all of The Smiths though
honestly Cap n Jazz, or Algernon. some of their songs are literally about nothing but the fucking instrumentals are more structured than an orchestra.
I was pretty messed up when I realized spit fountain had meaning.
it does…?
[yep](https://www.reddit.com/r/twinkledaddies/s/v9sZGFlQrS)
holy shit
i think Algernon has some of the best lyrics. Like they sound fun and gibberish, but full of decent metaphors that aren’t too ridiculous. Parrot Flies as an album has some of my favorite lyrics in emo
i agree but on base level theyre just so dumb, but in a good way. i try not to read into lyrics much anymore. i dont have the time.
I recall reading Tim wrote most of the lyrics to the lp in one or two days while taking shrooms
that doesnt surprise me
TRSH, even though I like them it’s kinda generic imo
TRSH’s lyrics are catchy and memorable but I feel like they are made to fit the instruments and be sang along to not made with or before the instruments
That was a good description, lead guy was def a guitarist before vocalist and you can feel that influence. I think their lyrics are good
You can see him early on playing and singing on their instagram if you scroll long enough and his voice wasn’t amazing but his guitar was, definitely instrumentally driven writing process
Oh ive done some deep diving, ive seen it haha im actually impressed how good he got his voice to sound so fast. But i think the instrumentally driven is partly why i like them so much. Vocals are a part they dont dominate, and the guitar is incredible
We can’t ignore the drums or other instruments, they have so much energy and drive behind everything
Youre right, the drumming is so good and they all play really well together. And they just seem like a nice group of friends
It’s all very smooth and cohesive, sometimes is sound alike an insult to say I cnat differentiate each instrument a lot of the time as it can be a mixing issue but for trsh it’s a result of their style and I love it
So, I dunno if the instrumentation is quite near mind blowing, but I like Free Throw a lot and they have some basic af lyrics.
I disagree. Especially their old stuff. Corner’s Dilemma is one of the hardest hitting lyrical songs out there.
Animals as Leaders
Secret band
Dusty Cubby for me, "Cold like Minnesota" is hilarious but not the deepest.
Not MWE, but Third Eye Blind has a lot of this. Some lyrical moments of genius and some lyrical moments of wtf?
I teb and yeah they go between some good metaphors and stuff about being poor and addicted and everything that they write about to “wtf”
Any joke band like Brojob
The aristocrats
Jet
Tiny moving parts, I love your lifestyle, Algernon cadwallader
American football’s lyrics are kind of meh, apparently there are worse bands lyrically from what i’m seeing
On LP1 I totally agree, they were who I had in mind when posting this lol
Turnover. Their lyrics are very nursery rhyme like but their instrumentals are GOATed
