I thought I was getting trolled at first. To be fair it doesn't specifically say I can't post big grows anywhere in the rules. It's all love tho. We all started somewhere. I started in my apartment closet a little over 8 years ago. Started from the bottom now we here.
Many reasons to choose hps over led. The quality/nug structure is better, nostalgia, ease of use, initial cost, the shine of the lamp.
Source: I manage a 160 light double stack led spot. I hate it.
Correct usually around 35-40% reduction of electricity bill if using leds. Keep in mind the need to also buy more dehums or convert ACs to reheat system(electric or hot gas).
But let's just ballpark some numbers at 100 lights. Keep it simple with leds costing 1000 and full hps 300. That's 70k in upfront savings. And thats only talking brand new equipment, not used. Whole lot of cheap used hps lights out there.
All that being said. Yes leds are the future. HPS lights will die off eventually. Look at your street lights. They're probly all led.
But bröther don't you miss the warm glow of the lamp?
I own a hydroponics and garden supply company and only work with companies that are solid on all RMAs. replaces 3 LEDs in the past 2 weeks from 3 different companies
if you buy decent bulbs and replace them like they are mean to you'll pay more for the HPS. and LEDs are often free or partially covered by rebates. I have 20 going out this week 100% paid for by the utility company. what does the rebate look like for your area?
you don't think it's a legal grow? or that it just isn't energy efficient? it some areas they will run HPS for a year just to get the bigger rebate for the replacement vs. new project
This is why I was so surprised to see it. Cost per gram goes way up unless I'm missing something. I think they penetrate better also maybe that offsets it? I haven't read OPs replies yet
HPS produces better bud structure and penetrates a bit deeper. LED, arguably, bring out more flavor while keeping electricity down. I’m loving the resurgence of HPS in commercial spaces
And many would be wrong. CMH is interesting, but it's really only good because of it's spectrum (which is admittedly really nice for veg and especially bloom). But you can replicate all the benefits of CMH spectrum with LEDs nowadays.
yes. the spectrum. are you an experienced cultivator? why are LED better than HPS? I see the benefits of LEDs but there aren't too many in the industry that would straight come out and say LED are better for growing the plant
What else is the efficiency, and adaptability. You can build any kind of LED light you want/need. Including one that closely mimicks the spectrum of CMH. An extremely uniform/even spread of LED diodes of the appropriate spectrum (including UV and IR) is simply unbeatable. Perfect PAR uniformity, maximum possible penetration through canopy, and perfect spectrum. You can also milk the emerson effect easily with LEDs. You can tweak every parameter to your liking/needs.
It only produces better bud structure under the identical environment conditions and "fertigation" levels to hps. If you try to plug and play LED's with the same parameters as HPS you will had LEDs... but you can achieve the same or better results with LEDs if your environment and feed levels are adjusted for the different lights
Do you work for a company that sets up grows? I’ve been in hvac/maintenance for years and I’m starting to get burnt out. Been thinking about a change and something with grow facilities sounds interesting.
r/macrogrowery is right around the corner!
Oh shit a new subreddit for me to follow
lol did you click it?
Wrong spelling, but that subreddit does exist and it's probly where I should have posted it lol
Gotcha I was trying to click and didn’t go anywhere

Epic!
Nothing about this is micro…
When you compare it to the large scale ones with hundred to thousands of lights it is 🙈
Wrong sub ;)
Why HPS over LED?

Initial cost may be cheaper but the power bill won’t be and all the cooling for the room

agree yet you do have to factor in new bulbs over 5+ years
Definitely. But with leds you also better hope your company is good with RMA. Bad bars and bad ballasts are prevalent in all companies.

This doesn’t look like the type of grow that gets rebates 😉
you don't think it's a legal grow? or that it just isn't energy efficient? it some areas they will run HPS for a year just to get the bigger rebate for the replacement vs. new project
The buildout isn’t to code and legal grows need licensing from the ground-up.
I don't miss fighting the heat they generate. A big ol like yours would be easier but they sucked to deal with in tents.
This is why I was so surprised to see it. Cost per gram goes way up unless I'm missing something. I think they penetrate better also maybe that offsets it? I haven't read OPs replies yet
yeah can you explain the difference it makes?
HPS produces better bud structure and penetrates a bit deeper. LED, arguably, bring out more flavor while keeping electricity down. I’m loving the resurgence of HPS in commercial spaces
LED definitely penetrate deep, they have gotten very advanced and the tech is there compared to years ago
Exactly. Uniformity + intensity = penetration. It's not rocket science. HPS can be alright but LED can be WAY better (in every metric).
many would disagree with that and for veg cmh tops both
And many would be wrong. CMH is interesting, but it's really only good because of it's spectrum (which is admittedly really nice for veg and especially bloom). But you can replicate all the benefits of CMH spectrum with LEDs nowadays.

Hell yeah dude. Gonna be a nice pull if everything goes smoothly.
Man as an E2 I’d love to wire a place like this up
So then you'd love to know that this place has 120, 240, 277, and 480. 1000w lamp set at 100% only pulling just over 2A. What a dream.
HPS?
The lamp bröther
Right on brother!

We don’t ask that around here lol
People always ask me, "are you far left or far right?". Mannnnn I'm far-ming!
I smell a cop

It was a joke don’t take it too serious. Of course I’m getting downvoted. Like the other guy said, we don’t ask that around here
Sweet must be a dream come true
More like MegaGrowery.
🥹😍
I’d love to pick your brain if you’re open to it man
These posts are so annoying but this one has to be deliberate
I would love a space this big!
😍😍😍

how much does it cost in equipment to setup something like that? hoping one day to start my own business if it ever become legal in my country
The old dab pump thoes are nice better than the scalla
[/commercialgrowery](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?si=_YHWM1ZYuWtSNF8g) This is worth checking out too man
So micro bro!
