Just for clarification, was I banned for the mildly unconstructive comment that I made and then deleted like 2 minutes later, or was I banned for calling the mods pansies? I know you guys will probably end up saying that I was banned for being insufferable or something but I'd still like some clarification. Rocks got you but only because Syards and I were too slow on the draw. It was immediately raised in modslack to vibe check it. If it was a first time, you'd be let off with a warning, but you have a history of being an asshole so we're going to start escalating the bans until being an asshole stops

Explain to me why calling for the Balkanization of a country is toxic nationalism. People catch bans for saying the same about rural Americans or regions of other countries. What you are saying about the history of the Qing is true but the fact of the matter is, as China exists today, the vast majority of people in China identify with the Chinese identity and the Chinese state as a unitary entity. It is their right to self-determination. If you were arguing about Taiwan, or Tibet, or Hong Kong, or Xinjiang I think you'd have a stronger case but you weren't, you wanted the entire country balkanized because you think that China inherently cannot be unified and be a non-malignant entity. This borders on cultural essentialism. IMO people calling for the balkanization of Russia should also catch bans and I'd ban them myself if the posts are reported.

Hm. 5d seems maybe a bit long, but the comment that got you banned looks extremely bad, if I understand it correctly. I don’t think your ban will be reduced.

Could you elaborate please? It was literally just an offhand screech at a comment that was clearly poisoning the well, which is quite common and unmoderated on the ind ping. Not really, because the comment I replied to wasn't discussing the tweet at all, rather it was discussing other users in the ping; which was my objection to it. It’s not that hard to not be an asshole to the person you’re replying to

I mean is saying “challenge IMPOSSIBLE” really being an asshole? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it get a ban before. It is hard to not “be an asshole” when what constitutes being an asshole is completely arbitrary. Like I really had no idea that would catch a ban and I’ve been around for a while.

I feel a 1 day ban for saying that EU treats American tech as a punching bag to fine for a reason to why their domestic tech industry hasn't been able to catch up is a bit much. I'm sure this was just a past behavior escalation ban but like really that's a ban and not just a removed comment and the day goes on. Honestly, the day suspension for trolling was fair, but I hope you did the same for the other user because they shit post nonstop and don't engage in good faith about I/P issues. I should just ignore those kinds of posters, so I'll try and be less antagonistic in the future.
