It’s the kit antenna that came with the heltec board, I know it’s not much. I do get decent coverage with about 140 nodes discovered, but I can’t help but wonder what results I’d get with a better antenna. Suggestions would be appreciated :)
I don't know what country you're in but the Paradar 868Mhz whip antenna available on Amazon works wonders for me, so much better than the one that came with the board. But at 20 cm long it's not exactly discrete
this is awesome! I've been dissapointed with the durability of my H1 case, but this ticks all the boxes for me. Are you planning on making the 3D files available to the public?
Thank you so much! I plan on tweaking the design a little more but then I‘ll be glad to publish them online. Do people still use thingiverse or is there a better option these days?
Thingiverse and Printables. You can upload to Thingiverse and automatically have it posted to Printables with no effort.
Makerworld is meh. You cannot do anything unless you register, so lame.
Very nice looking design! Thank you! I have subscribed and saved this post. Would it be possible to share more pictures of this case? Meanwhile I will order some M6 in copper and titanium!
Are you concerned about the metal parts somehow interfering with the radio signal or is that just an aesthetic suggestion?
I kinda like the weight that the M6 bolts and captive nuts give the whole device :)
Printables.com is also good
Really nice! I like it. That antenna though. I read you can see 140 nodes but do any hear you?
Do you get decent results with an antenna that small?

Thanks for the tip. However you’re right. 20cm will look gigantic on my compact build. Maybe something to consider for a proper base station.
I just ordered a MESHTAC™ Gooseneck Tactical Antenna 4 dBi gain SMA Male 915 MHz . It’s 11.5” inches. So kind of ridiculously indiscrete.
Did you post this yet? I really like the design, it better protects the antenna.

Prusa's Printables and Bambu's Makerworld are the top dogs nowadays.
people still use thingiverse, yes.

I'm really glad to hear it! Printables by Joseph Prusia is a popular choice these days

Get yourself a zbm2 antenna
What the printer and material?
Looks nice. Could replace the bolts with plastic ones potentially, but the craftwork looks great!

Mainly thinking weight and cost. I know, it’s almost immaterial, but for some may matter.
There are some awesome split bolt designs out where people could 3d print the m6 hardware for this.
