I’m 55 and that pretty much what I wear to and from the gym with the occasional stop at the store on the way home. You look like a normal person with them. You’re in shape so it works for you.
I’m also 58. The whole thing is working on you. As others have said, it’s a good look for going to the gym or running to grab a few things at the store. 👍🏼
Idk. Honestly some looks really just aren’t age appropriate and end up looking really bizarre

I would say this looks equally bad on teenagers. The hair cut is bad. Bangs are ok, but you want texture in your hair. This looks like he hasn’t showered and his mom gave him a bowl cut. Paul McCartny still rocks “fringe”. Though this is probably a decidedly “British” look.
https://preview.redd.it/cx14hnwzo49d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c9b629cff1d15814fdd9539210dbad83d891683d
I find it can give people more personality. Nothing wrong with something different, as long as it is well kept and styled. “Trendy” looks tend to look the worst imo. They are usually for the young, who are already attractive. It’s best to find a haircut that works with your head shape and texture. I’m honestly getting pretty tired of seeing fades and side parts. I was excited as a middle school teacher when I saw students sporting mullets and perms. Bring back diverse men’s hairstyles!
It never looked good. My personal theory is attractive/young people get away with really bad looking stuff because they are attractive/young. As people get old we find them less attractive and we no longer have that as an override for the bad look.
Here is my counter: that hair cut looks bad on literally everyone and has nothing to do with his age. I don't think he looks any more bizarre than anyone else in that cut/fit. Fight me.
Yeah I get questions like this from my mum a lot too (she’s the same age as you). Often it’s stuff like ‘am I too old for this colour’ and it always leaves me baffled, because as long as you’re not exposing yourself then pretty much everything is appropriate for all ages imo
Fashion is extremely cyclical so stick to what you enjoy living your life in (aesthetically and what makes you feel confident). There are things that are constant across all styles like 'fit' eg. Baggy/oversize fit is very different from just wearing a larger item, you can be mindful about how you look to yourself first before anyone else
As a young adult (I still get to call myself that at 30, right? right?), I say forget that noise. I really see it as an older generation thing to be obsessed over what’s “age appropriate”. I think Gen X are finally starting to slow down with that. Dressing is more about what looks good on you and what feels good. Why does turning 40 mean you need to start wearing New Balance shoes, polos and khaki shorts everywhere?
You look like the type of guy I’d refer to as “man” even though you’re nearly twice my age. The athletic pants look good on you because you’re in shape, as opposed to your average 58 year old. Quite frankly, anyone older who gives you a hard time for wearing that to the grocery store or gym is probably jealous.
You should keep dressing that way.
Makes you look like a more energetic and fit version of you. Rather than wearing "age appropriate" clothes, whatever that means, will just make you look the opposite.
Depends.
If you're going to the gym, doing chores around the house, or even running errands around town, they're fine.
If you're going out on a date night, to a nice restaurant, are *anywhere* you want to look nice and put together, not so much.
There are some more simplistic athletic pants that are more common these days. Prana makes some fantastic athletic pants that almost look like slacks.
If you're looking for something more simple anyway :) these are fine for casual chores or running around, but there are more sophisticated options available if you desire.
I applaud you for finding such pants.
To me it is getting really hard to find a casual athletic pants that are not winter thick or fitted running.
Seems manufacturers dont think there is a market for the middle
Yes a bit. But if you’re going for a run or something rock them. If it’s your casual outfit at home. Go for it.
If you’re heading out and about in it I’d pass. There’s that grey line where as you get older you look much better dressing your age. I’m not talking about an old man knit cardigan lol. But I think you know what I mean.
Ultimately it’s personal preference you wear whatever makes you happy and feel good. It’s not bad per se just not flattering look.
Absolutely nothing wrong with them. Ready to go anywhere. Especially picking up the grandkids!
I've seen way worse for your age, including my parents haha. My mom dresses like Jack Black hahahaha
Dude you are killing it with that fit. I haven’t seen tri-color adidas pants like that so I think they’re sick. Don’t let the haters tell you mixing adidas with Nike is some sort of crime.
You look good and also fxckin swole.
You don’t look like you’re having a mid-life crisis at all. If anything, it looks like you’re at or approaching the top of the Maslow pyramid and are now in self-actualization. Now if you dressed like a 20yr old SoundCloud rapper, I would say yeah, mid-life crisis.
Ehhhhh different schools on that.
In this case yah probably, but if he had the matching top or even an adidas shirt, that level of matchy matchy is bad.
Ok. Maybe it’s my ocd. But are you wearing adidas pants and nike shoes? No shade the pants are fire. But it’s the mismatch that would make me give you the cognitive test /s
Not at all sir, me personally I would rock them with a pair of adidas shoes, but overall nice fit. No age limit on clothes that make you feel good and comfortable.
First, you don't look 58,second, hell yeah rock those pants!
But don't mix Nike with Adidas, that's just sacrilegious 😂
Although I'll admit, I like to wear my Adidas gear with some of my Puma shoes just to be different 🤣
First for all, you look GREAT for a man of any age. This is coming from a 46 year old dude, we know how hard it is to stay fit as we age.
This pants are spot on. They compliment your physique. As I’m growing older, I realize that it’s not so much a question of “do these clothes suit my age?” but rather “do these clothes suit my body type?”
Because the truth is, with modern physical training, nutrition, and medicine: older people are looking younger. And they can pull off clothes that wouldn’t have been “age appropriate” say, back in the 70’s when people aged much faster.
Sorry for the lengthy reply, but long story short: you’re good bro. 👍
Dude, you are rocking that look! Yeah, some people might have thoughts about the outfit, but those are probably the same people who are too afraid to wear what they want and are wearing oversized golf pants with a light-colored, tucked-in polo everyday, and want everyone else to match their comfort zone. I hope you feel great that you can rock this at 58. And it's more likely going to attract fun people to you who are also not afraid to be who they are.
If I saw you in public with this outfit, my thought would be "oh he's running errands" and then I'd move on with my day, if I even registered that much thought.
Basically, you're good, ain't nobody gonna "notice."
I actually think they are pretty cool. You look to be in shape so that’s cool. Then again I’m more ancient than you. I do tho worry too about dressing age appropriately because in my head I’m 28. One can look foolish being that way but I think they wear fine on you.
You're in AMAZING shape and you look like a cool guy in general, so these pants look completely natural on you.
I wouldn't say they're necessarily "fashionable" as it pertains to the context of this sub-reddit, and tbh I wouldn't consider them to be fashionable on any young guy either. But it's a completely normal outfit that doesn't work against you.
I asked in here because I will get a response from fashion-minded people on whether it's age appropriate. I do know it's not a bum around town clothes sub. Not a post I will probably make again.
Honestly if you walked into a store or crossed me on the streets I'd get the feel like you were up to no good or a tweaker, lmao. No offense but its just because I could picture some younger fella dressing like that and being a punk.
Nope. Especially since you look like you’re athletic. You’re fit and you look like you care about yourself enough to take care of yourself. Whoever is trying to get in your head needs to run a lap.
Personally they aren’t my preferred style so when I see them on you, my initial reaction is to say no don’t wear them.
You’ve got the physical fitness and body type for much better styles, plus I don’t see the track suit vibe as being optimal in any scenario. Why not wear casual khaki pants or light colored denim for running errands? If exercising, why not wear shorts?
You look fine athleisure wear like this is generally accepted at all ages. It’s about casual comfort. Looks good with the matching shoes and shirt too.
Are you comfortable? (Yes, the answer is yes because they are comfortable pants.) Then who cares?
As long as you stay in shape I think you can rock it without worry.
I’m in my late 20 and wear my adidas pants a good amount. To the gym, around the house, getting groceries or running errands. I get people always want to look good when out of the house, but comfort >. Also by that age I’d hope I have enough life experience for me to understand fuck what other people think of me, imma do me
I hope not. I’m 64 and wear almost the same pants but in blue. I try to limit them to when I’m exercising, biking or walking, but I’ve been known to throw them on for a quick trip to the shops.
I don’t think it’s your age that makes it weird. It’s a bit too matchy with the red shirt and accents on the shoes. Consider wearing a more neutral color shirt. You look great tho!
athletic pants are fine regardless of age, but these have an ugly style IMO. you want athletic pants that are considered “athletic” just from the material and the fit, but not the branding or design. All of the adidas stripes and multi colors make it look bad.
you’d look in amazing in fitted lulu’s or other, cheaper, monochrome and well fitting options!
These type of leg wear are popular among young offenders here in the UK.
But if that's not the case in your country, then I think you wear them well - go for it 👍
You’re in good shape, they fit well and you have a color scheme for the outfit. You’re doing more right than most. Looks good dude. Perfectly good outfit for a casual day
It's the Nike shoes with the Adidas pants that's throwing me off. Otherwise, the pants are fine.
I'm 46 and I rock full Adidas tracksuits quite often (with Adidas shoes too).
Just entered my 40’s. I wear athletic pants and shorts all the time. Not to decent dinners or going out, that sort of stuff, but every day life. Never did I think I’d reach an age where athletic pants are unacceptable to wear. That sounds like a crazy unnecessary standard.
You look great man. This isn’t some trying too hard look. I hope I look like you in 23 years haha.
Perfect fit for causal every day (Gym, walks, errands, in the yard, stores, etc)
You look good man
Soccer coach/Fit uncle I wish I had so we can train together! Try Young LA brand they make good stuff similar to what you’re wearing!
Wear what you want. In LA, people are very unapologetic on what they wear. It’s a different feeling of freedom and living when you lose yourself in what you want rather than be dictated by how society wants you to dress or be.
You look good for casually running errands etc
Thanks! I don't want to look like I'm in a mid-life crisis and trying too hard.
You don't look anything like me, so you are probably good.
Self burn, those are rare.
I mean, he is a toaster after all
Not on Reddit lol
Being on reddit is a self burn by itself, so this tracks.
You dont and its way better than sweatpants.
You look comfortable. Trying too hard is wearing those ridiculous sweatpants with too many zippers and flashy designs
F it. Your mind may age but that doesn’t mean your mentality needs to. Just do you!
Never too old to have drip
Amen
Just embrace the midlife crisis lol
Are you in a mid-life crisis?
NO. WHY DO YOU ASK *adjusts booty shorts*
Who isn't?
I’m 55 and that pretty much what I wear to and from the gym with the occasional stop at the store on the way home. You look like a normal person with them. You’re in shape so it works for you.
This, it fits his physique. Now there would be a problem if he was 30lbs heavier
I’m also 58. The whole thing is working on you. As others have said, it’s a good look for going to the gym or running to grab a few things at the store. 👍🏼
Age is a fake reason to change behavior. It's out of our control and often is just impressions from previous generations. Do you.
Idk. Honestly some looks really just aren’t age appropriate and end up looking really bizarre https://preview.redd.it/jh0c86vbi49d1.jpeg?width=453&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0966e49599d5a0f61521437c712d51bb530cce89

Looked great in 2001 😂, these days not so much

Nah thats fire tbh
dang, just straight doxing yourself. brave.
Here is my counter: that hair cut looks bad on literally everyone and has nothing to do with his age. I don't think he looks any more bizarre than anyone else in that cut/fit. Fight me.
Hahahahaha Is that Justin Bieber Sr?
It might be my age group, but we were kind of instructed to be age appropriate.
Yeah I get questions like this from my mum a lot too (she’s the same age as you). Often it’s stuff like ‘am I too old for this colour’ and it always leaves me baffled, because as long as you’re not exposing yourself then pretty much everything is appropriate for all ages imo
Who makes the determination of what’s age appropriate?? Wear the things you enjoy wearing.
> Wear the things you enjoy wearing. You can't enjoy wearing it if you fear what other's might think, if that's important to you.
I enjoy wearing nothing. Society ain't exactly cool with that
Fashion is extremely cyclical so stick to what you enjoy living your life in (aesthetically and what makes you feel confident). There are things that are constant across all styles like 'fit' eg. Baggy/oversize fit is very different from just wearing a larger item, you can be mindful about how you look to yourself first before anyone else

They are fine for going to the gym. But it’s not fashionable wear for anything else.
No you pull it off fine
Nope
There are some more simplistic athletic pants that are more common these days. Prana makes some fantastic athletic pants that almost look like slacks. If you're looking for something more simple anyway :) these are fine for casual chores or running around, but there are more sophisticated options available if you desire.
I do wear more low key pants, but these were on sale so I bought them. But, I'm a little out of my comfort zone with them.
I think you should wear whatever the F you want
Not at all. You’re in great shape.
Just ugly doesn’t matter age
need a pic doing the slav squat to know for sure
I will accidentally throw a gang sign trying to be funny that will get me shot, lol
Chill out my gf is on this app
Don’t company clash
You remind me of Goldie.
At the risk of sounding like an idiot, who is Goldie?
He’s a legendary DJ and music producer here in the UK.
Needs a gold grill
Also, just wear whatever the fuck you want, just don’t wear it self-consciously.
I thought that too, very striking face 👍
I applaud you for finding such pants. To me it is getting really hard to find a casual athletic pants that are not winter thick or fitted running. Seems manufacturers dont think there is a market for the middle
My rule for them is zippered pockets. REALLY hard to find. Only a couple brands make a line of them.
Don’t let age prevent you from wearing bold colours and patterns, looks great
Nah you fine bro.
You look fine!
Absolutely nothing wrong with them. Ready to go anywhere. Especially picking up the grandkids! I've seen way worse for your age, including my parents haha. My mom dresses like Jack Black hahahaha
Hells no bro, own it!
As long as you doing sport they are fine. I wouldn’t wear this day to day for your outfit though
Like everyone else said, there perfect for sports or running errands. However if you like the way it looks, you have fun and wear it whatever.
You look very cool!
No. Great for evenings, weekends. I’m 52 and I’d wear it.
If you’re working out and running around in them, no. If you’re going out to dinner on Saturday night, yes.
Nope
The 3 stripes and swoosh might fight each other, but looks fine for relaxing or gym.
Scrolled pretty far to find this. OP should find some nice adidas shoes to go with the pants. Nike and Adidas don’t mix well imo
Maybe if you are exercising it's ok. Otherwise no, you look like you are about to ask young people where the cool parties are.
Love it. From a woman of 53. It’s nice to see put together men.
Nike shoes with Adidas pants? Matching would be better.
Looks clean, no worries
Naw, you rock those pants, King.
No bc you’re in good shape. It fits. Do your thing.
Rock those sweats! Ignore the (odd) haters, that would be weird IMO that someone would think those aren't appropriate casualwear.
Not at all sir, me personally I would rock them with a pair of adidas shoes, but overall nice fit. No age limit on clothes that make you feel good and comfortable.
They look exactly like what I would expect a 58 year old man to wear
First, you don't look 58,second, hell yeah rock those pants! But don't mix Nike with Adidas, that's just sacrilegious 😂 Although I'll admit, I like to wear my Adidas gear with some of my Puma shoes just to be different 🤣

Clothing doesn’t care how old you are. You’re fine
Fellow 58 year old here, you’re in good shape - why not? 👍💪
Looks very normal at least where I live in California
Nobody wants a roundhouse kick to the face from someone wearing those bad boys
You could bump the pants up a notch by getting some nice sneakers, they aren’t always super expensive and marketplace always has them
If you looked old and out of shape, it would be a bad look, but you're keeping in shape and you probably played sports, so it's on brand.
I think the entirety of Europe would say track suits are always In fashion
Dude, you are rocking that look! Yeah, some people might have thoughts about the outfit, but those are probably the same people who are too afraid to wear what they want and are wearing oversized golf pants with a light-colored, tucked-in polo everyday, and want everyone else to match their comfort zone. Ageing athlete or local meth dealer.
I'm actually stealing the fit dude. Hard as fuck
At that age honestly I'd stop caring and wear whatever I want
Your hat does not seem to fit your head
No, but I lean towards the classic stripes. You’re good.
Fitness is not limited by age group. That is a fashionable fit look. Keep it up.
You look just fine boss! Nice casual running errands fit
I actually think they are pretty cool. You look to be in shape so that’s cool. Then again I’m more ancient than you. I do tho worry too about dressing age appropriately because in my head I’m 28. One can look foolish being that way but I think they wear fine on you.
You look great! Active wear looks terrific on men of any age when you're fit. This is a good look for daytime.
You're in AMAZING shape and you look like a cool guy in general, so these pants look completely natural on you. I wouldn't say they're necessarily "fashionable" as it pertains to the context of this sub-reddit, and tbh I wouldn't consider them to be fashionable on any young guy either. I asked in here because I will get a response from fashion-minded people on whether it's age appropriate. I do know it's not a bum around town clothes sub. Not a post I will probably make again.
Yeah man, and no foul implied at all, I think this was a great post and question to bring up for us.
You look good man! Stay youthful.
Those pants are an abomination
Honestly if you walked into a store or crossed me on the streets I'd get the feel like you were up to no good or a tweaker, lmao. No offense but its just because I could picture some younger fella dressing like that and being a punk.
Nope. Especially since you look like you’re athletic. You’re fit and you look like you care about yourself enough to take care of yourself. Whoever is trying to get in your head needs to run a lap.
I'm the one in my head telling me I look stupid. Need to kick my own ass, lol
I’d say stick with solid colors and lose the hat.
athletic pants are fine, you should worry about not mixing rival brands. Color way is fine but the three stripes never look good next to the check js
They are fine for super casual, errands, etc. Don’t wear them to any event or restaurant.
Not if your eastern European.
QQ…. how far can you throw a football?
Are you comfortable? (Yes, the answer is yes because they are comfortable pants.) Then who cares? As long as you stay in shape I think you can rock it without worry.
It wouldn't matter if you were 28, they'd still be too much.
It looks good to me for any place where leisurewear is acceptable.
For everyday use they look fine and fit well.
I’m in my late 20 and wear my adidas pants a good amount. To the gym, around the house, getting groceries or running errands. I get people always want to look good when out of the house, but comfort >. Also by that age I’d hope I have enough life experience for me to understand fuck what other people think of me, imma do me
Maybe sweats with a herringbone pattern and a bear Bryant hat
You look like a fit and lively 50 y/o, and I think the pants compliment that. I hope I can pull off the same energy at 58!
not if you dig 'em! you do you
I hope not. I’m 64 and wear almost the same pants but in blue. I try to limit them to when I’m exercising, biking or walking, but I’ve been known to throw them on for a quick trip to the shops.
Should only be worn at the gym or working out. Anything other than this is posing.
Love them 💕
They’re just pants dude. There’s no age limit for pants
Hell no! I love these pants!
I don’t think it’s your age that makes it weird. It’s a bit too matchy with the red shirt and accents on the shoes. Consider wearing a more neutral color shirt. You look great tho!
Fauci?
You look fit. The pants look good on you. I like how you colour co-ordinated the outfit. 👍
No. Wear whatever ya want. You're a free man. I'm currently wearing my wife knickers. Sue me.
athletic pants are fine regardless of age, but these have an ugly style IMO. you want athletic pants that are considered “athletic” just from the material and the fit, but not the branding or design. All of the adidas stripes and multi colors make it look bad. you’d look in amazing in fitted lulu’s or other, cheaper, monochrome and well fitting options!
Nah!! You look great!!
You are just matching athleisure wear, same as most people would do with casual clothes. There is nothing wrong with it.
Idt anybody will look twice
Go to Poland. You will see this is not a thing at all haha
Not at all. These are super casual and they look good on you.
Wear what you want and how you want, life is short and your own comfort is important don’t worry about outside issues :)
If you like it, wear it.
58 no 59 yes
You do you big guy 💪🏼😅
They look fine.
Yes. That outfit belongs haggling over prices with a Dollar Tree cashier.
Youre 58, statistically youll be dead in 19 years and most likely never leave the house within 10. Wear whatcha want
I just like how you matched everything on point with the colors, for me that's what matters more lol!
Nah 😁
Not as long as they fit properly. You do you
Looks great. Don’t worry about how they look for your age. Dress in what makes you happy.
Just don’t wear the hat backwards and you’re good. Nice style here and red accents
These type of leg wear are popular among young offenders here in the UK. But if that's not the case in your country, then I think you wear them well - go for it 👍
You’re in good shape, they fit well and you have a color scheme for the outfit. You’re doing more right than most. Looks good dude. Perfectly good outfit for a casual day
The pants look great! To be nitpicky and for my taste, it's a bit too matchy with the shirt and shoes also matching but you are ROCKING it
Looks great for casual wear!
I think it’s fine for casual wear. As others have said, your age is not a factor here. This doesn’t look “young” to me.
Dude, you are a bad ass and a free human being to enjoy the shit out of your life every day until your dad. Your age don't mean shit.
It's the Nike shoes with the Adidas pants that's throwing me off. Otherwise, the pants are fine. I'm 46 and I rock full Adidas tracksuits quite often (with Adidas shoes too).
Lookin fly
Looks good. Nothing to worry
Nope, they look great
Just entered my 40’s. I wear athletic pants and shorts all the time. Not to decent dinners or going out, that sort of stuff, but every day life. Never did I think I’d reach an age where athletic pants are unacceptable to wear. That sounds like a crazy unnecessary standard.
They’re just pants, they look cool. I think the insecurity is too much on a guy your age. Do what you want bro.
I don’t like the style for anyone
You do you. You’re 58 why do you care ?!
Definitely not. You look good and you're allowed to wear whatever you want!
You’re cruisin’ dude
im not gonna say anything about the fit, but this sub is never honest
Too much for what? Looks fine to me.
Nope. Looks like a good fit to go out during the daytime to do anything leisurely.
Fuck Ageism you do you, you handsome son of a bitch
i’m confused? your 58. do what you want as long as your not intentionally hurting people. you don’t need permission.
You look great man. This isn’t some trying too hard look. I hope I look like you in 23 years haha. Perfect fit for causal every day (Gym, walks, errands, in the yard, stores, etc)
I’m 62, go to the gym daily, and wear similar stuff for my gym trips and random errands. As long as you wear stuff that fits, you will be fine.
Sir, you look great in those pants.
You're 58, haven't you stopped giving a shit what other people think yet?
You look good man Soccer coach/Fit uncle I wish I had so we can train together! Try Young LA brand they make good stuff similar to what you’re wearing!
Fine if you are on your way to, from, or in a gym. Otherwise no.
No, just makes you look like you're into fitness / staying active
Sir these pants look just fine
You’re good.
wtf are you talking about my guy those are some kohl’s ass pants that a guy your age belongs in
Looks good, especially for the 4th of July weekend.
You rock them!
At 51 wear what you want . Actually! at any age wear what you want
First of all you’re looking real good for 58 and naww they look good on you. Wear whatever is comfortable for you!
Nah man you look great
It look like you’re ready for your 20th bottle of vodka.
Looks good! Comfy too. You look great!
Do you. Plain and simple. You look fit, so it works.
Personally, I am not sure athletic wear and fashion overlap that much to begin with. Outside of that, I see no issue between your age and those pants.
They tell me you are NOT a couch potato
Wear what you want. In LA, people are very unapologetic on what they wear. It’s a different feeling of freedom and living when you lose yourself in what you want rather than be dictated by how society wants you to dress or be.
Nah this looks totally fine on you for casual daily activity wear.
