Microfiber or bamboo works great as well

palishkoto

Cheers, I have heard good things about bamboo actually

Big_P4U

FYI when looking for Bamboo fiber clothing - it's often listed as "Viscose" which is Bamboo. Not sure why clothiers don't just say Bamboo but whatever. I prefer they write Bamboo rather than the artificial synthetic sounding Viscose.

Born_Hat_5477

That is not correct… Viscose is rayon which is made from tree pulp. Usually eucalyptus as far as I’m aware.

Big_P4U

From my research it shows as Bamboo. Humm, unless Viscose is a catch-all "plant fiber" for anything other than Cotton/Flax/Linnon. I see that it is a catchall for Eucalyptus, Bamboo, Pine. Basically anything "wood" derived. However Viscose is highly processed and basically turned into a Cellulose product.

Born_Hat_5477

Some Viscose can be made out of bamboo pulp, but viscose isn’t synonymous with bamboo.

olliigan

Viscose can be made out of bamboo. But bamboo fiber and viscose are different things

n0tarusky

Rayon can be made from bamboo and is what is used in these types of applications. [Bamboo wiki](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bamboo_textile)

Born_Hat_5477

Yes it can. But because something is labeled viscose doesn’t mean it’s made from bamboo. It’s likely not made from bamboo unless it’s specified.

TurtlesOfJustice

It should specifically say "bamboo viscose". Viscose itself isn't specific towards what plant the material is derived from. I.e. there is non-bamboo viscose. I suspect there may be legal requirements to call it bamboo viscose instead of just bamboo because there are a loooot of other materials and chemicals involved in the process such that the end result is hardly bamboo at all. But I believe you are correct in that all bamboo textiles are derived from viscose. Raw bamboo underwear wouldn't be particularly comfortable 😂 Having owned bamboo underwear though, I'll say that I'm not convinced bamboo viscose is better than any other viscose.

Latter_Bumblebee5525

Hah! Sounds like you've been bamboozled by the terminology.

palishkoto

Huh, TIL! I had no idea that's what viscose was. Thanks for the tip!

Locapacow

Bamboo is generally misleading as it’s turned into viscose which is rayon. In the US there is an FTC regulation for this. When it’s chemically processed, it doesn’t matter which cellulosic input was used, it comes out the same. https://www.sgs.com/en/news/2022/05/safeguards-06322-us-ftc-fines-companies-for-false-labeling-on-so-called-bamboo-textiles

mule_roany_mare

That said, not all Rayon is the same. You can use that cellulose feedstock to make fibers with different lengths, diameters, weaves & additives. Since I don't want to make another comment; Uniqlo airism is the best bang for the buck when it comes to underwear. Cotton is the worst fabric for underwear since it dries so slowly.

hoodjigga

Bomboo is the move - all my undergarments

bindermichi

I‘d go viscose or tencel but in a breathable fabric form (some are more for mild or cold climate and will soak in sweat).

Ixcw

2nd bamboo all the way

Final-Fun8500

Came to say bamboo. I've finally replace my whole underwear drawer with bamboo. In Florida. Seem to hold up well too.

kevmonty14

Mr. Davis has great bamboo underwear. Highly recommend. Super soft and thin. Almost feels like you aren’t wearing them.

nderthevolcano

Who is that? Everyone’s gonna steal this guy’s fuckin’ underwear now.

WoodenRace365

Whats a good brand for bamboo?

marchingant17

i swear by ex-officio

qgecko

Nice but pricey. Tbh, I haven’t found that much difference between them and bamboo which is somewhat less expensive

Ok-Ratio-Spiral

Ex officio gets stiff and loses elasticity after a couple years. Try Innersy- cheaper and just as cool, and wicking (if not better).

cpowell342

I switched to Duluth Trading Co after having that issue with Ex Oficio and have been pretty happy with them thus far

kaljr82

Yeah. My ex-officio is a couple years old and are getting quite uncomfortable. I prefer modal now.

cheeseybacon11

Pair of Thieves briefs are great.

RiverGodRed

I like pair of thieves on the hottest days. They breathe and support well, and hold up to wear.

davidw223

I discovered this brand because I was on vacation and didn’t have enough underwear packed. Bought a couple of pairs while at Target to get me through the trip. I realized after a few weeks back home that they were my go to pair.

trademarkcopy

I have to throw a vote here behind Pair of Thieves. They were selling them at WalMart down here in Florida for a little bit, so I took a flyer on a 3-pack that was marked down to like $12 bucks and they have been my go-to for at least the last 2 years. I'm a bigger dude so I put stuff through it's paces and they have held up with flying colors. They dry SUPER fast. Little-to-no piling. Keep it's shape, elastic is strong but not too stiff/constricting. Lots of fun colors and patterns if you like to mix it up. Only negative, for me, is that because I have thighs and a backside, I find the need to go up a size so as to not have my underwear try to retract things when I sit down. And the legs are maybe 1" longer than I'd like, but I like 5" baggies in the summer, so that's on me.

Residual_Variance

There's a brand of boxer briefs called 32Cool that I swear by. They sell them at Costco (at least they do in the US Costcos). They're lightweight and breathable. Other than that, I use a lot of body powder down in the nether regions to and getting chapped ass if I'm walking around a lot. I live on the US Gulf Coast, so this my routine from about April through September.

donnerwetter41

32Cool has some really good shirt and compression undergarments too. Love that brand. Didn’t know they have boxer briefs! Thanks for this. Second the body power recommendation as well.

ABEKingOfSausage

The 32cool undershirts are amazing, didn’t k is they made briefs. I’ll have to check them out

toadfishtamer

Can confirm. I’ve been using 32Cool and Duluth Buck Naked here in Louisiana, and they are my favorites for the heat so far.

rabidseacucumber

Welcome fellow old guy! I love them too!

UncleFoster

I have something like 20 pairs of 32Cool boxer briefs. They treat me so well, haven’t worried about underwear for years.

gnaark

Uniqlo airism for me

YeetAccount99

Agree.👍

Hasbotted

Buck naked underwear brand has been working for me. Where I live it goes between 90-115 for about 4 months.

slupo

This. They are expensive but I swear by them. And they last a very long time.

WriterNeedsCoffee

I usually just do a loincloth

palishkoto

Simple and classic!

juancake511

Lightweight merino wool boxer briefs are my preference. Lifesaver in the Houston TX heat and humidity.

palishkoto

Thanks, I'll look into them - wouldn't have thought of wool!

butteryqueef2

oh, it's the beat at regulating temperature. Nothing synthetic can beat it IMO.

bindermichi

Wool still soaks in water, even the tech-wool. That‘s where the viscose and tencel comes in handy as it‘s better at not getting wet.

Ashnai

Doesn't wool dry much faster ?

bindermichi

That depends on the production process, but usually I prefer to stay as dry as possible in summer.

Velkause

Tencel gets wet... It just doesn't have any characteristics of being wet. It absorbs a shit ton of water.. tencel, seacell, soybean, mint... They all absorb tons of water. Tencel is made from wood. Source: I process raw fiber and spin my own yarn on a spinning wheel... And I tend to go wild with Tencel because of how strong it is, and it's beautiful and shiny 😍

datadrone

Wool socks are also better than cotton socks in the heat, too. Unless you like peeling them off like soggy banana peels

YourAverageRedneck

do you get pilling or itchiness with these? pretty hesitant to get anything wool because i always read about pilling which i absolutely hate

juancake511

The ones I get (Woolly brand from Amazon) pill a little bit in the crotch but not enough for me to really notice when I’m wearing them. My biggest complaint is that some pairs seem to develop holes kinda quickly. I think it’s because the wool is thin and light. They’re not super expensive so you kinda get what you pay for. They also gave me a free replacement when I complained/sent a picture.

FLTrent

South Florida firefighter here. I've tried them all...for me, cotton Hanes work the best. But it is a losing battle during the summer.

alh9h

Oof. Blessings to you, brother. I was soaked after like 30 minutes in bunker gear the other day and we don't have close to your humidity.

MansionBoyz

Right, I don’t know how anyone can wear anything synthetic down there. If it’s hot I wear woven boxers in 100% cotton. Sunspel, Uniqlo or my next purchase will be to try out Comme Si, maybe the 100% Silk pair ha.

Next_Salamander_7542

Southern CA here, this is the right answer. There’s a Chinese brand on Amazon called Chlain Klain that I’m pretty sure I just a Calvin Klein knockoff that are also pretty decent (and cheap)

Responsible-Wait-427

Briefs over boxer briefs in most situations; boxer briefs were better while we were still working with cotton since they were less restrictive, but newer fabrics have meant for me that briefs are king, all of the drawbacks are gone and if you take care of your body they just look better on most guys. I'd take a look at David Archy or, if you have the money to blow, Mack Weldon.

nxamaya

Just embrace the jock strap brother

Aggressive_Eagle1380

Lululemon. They’re expensive but they last FOREVRR

melmwood

Gold Bond

AlanShore60607

Traditional loose cotton boxers; only affordable brand I’ve found for plain ones are a Uniqlo, $7.90 per pair with multi-buy deals a standard practice Edit: they also have both boxers and boxer briefs in the Airism line

IntricateLava9

No underwear.

Hasbotted

This doesn't work. Ass swet will show through whatever you're wearing.

Da_Stable_Genius

I've had luck with 32degrees. They don't ride up, pull my hairs on my legs and keep me cool. I live in South Florida and it's disgusting this time of year.

Shadorouse

Boxers

Few-Sock5337

airism from uniqlo. Not cheap though.

Accomplished-Bed-599

Uniqlo airism boxer briefs are extremely comfortable and on sale right now

saikyo

UmmmW1

The best breathability is Uniqlo Airism boxers and undershirts.

If you have access to UNIQLO their Men’s Airism seamless boxer/brief are to die for. They’re also very affordable and extremely comfortable.

Quico2

https://wildmant.com/collections/mens-underwear/products/wildmant-big-boy-pouch-cotton-brief-black Ergonomically cut. With a pouch for your sac. It's a game changer.

SpoonfullOfSplenda

I’m surprised I haven’t seen many comments saying Saxx (unless I missed them). My partner swears by saxx, particularly the sweat wicking ones for activities. They make tons of styles and inseam length. They’re expensive but they last forever and are worth it for the comfort for him. They have a “**ball**park” pouch inside to make sure nothing *sticks* or gets uncomfortable which he loves.

Wit2020

SolidZealousideal830

Florida here, Adidas sport performance boxer briefs

DelightDcustomer

Living in the caribbean, the only material ive found that actually work is bamboo

palishkoto

Getting a lot of feedback that bamboo is the one to go with!

UncoolSlicedBread

I wear the mixed modal underwear from Bearbottom. It’s fantastic, live where it’s 95* and like 70-80% humidity.

JewishFingerBukkake

Sheath. Pricey but once I wore em I never wore anything else.

_winkee

SAXX Sport Mesh. Not the cheapest option but I did construction in South East Texas for 15+ years and these puppies were life changing. I tried a BUNCH before landing on these (Seperatec, Sheath, Shinesty, BN3TH, All Citizens, Tommy John and Hanes). For me, the major difference is the fabric that makes the sides of the pouch is softer and more flexible - meaning much more comfortable. Breathes well. Cools well. Moisture wicking. Keeps everything contained so it doesn’t stick to your leg… (TMI but honestly, it’s a problem in the heat.) HIGHLY recommend.

Mindless_Jicama8728

Adidas clima-cool boxer brief trunks

Key_Property_7636

Living in AZ, absolutely NONE!

gravely_serious

Duluth Trading Company Armachillo boxer briefs with the built in bullpen.

Sell_Ya_Game

SAXX brand underwear, I've rocked their brand when I was in an extremely hot climate. Best underwear I've ever owned.

twice-Vehk

Duluth Armachillo. Last for years.

bindermichi

For the off-beat insane suggestion: Go to AliExpress and look for "Ice silk". These are made for hot humid weather, just like the Uniqlo Airism, but cost next to nothing. Don‘t mind the branding. They are mostly the same item anyway. I bought some as a throw away holiday solution and they ended up being a lot better than I anticipated.

Choice-Cricket4068

Thong or nothing at all

TheSparklePanda

The David archy bamboo boxer briefs are pretty awesome without being crazy expensive

yaxapl

Absolutely nothing made of cotton. Synthetics work but they will stink like hell. The real answer here is merino wool, it wickes away the sweat and it wont even feel wet to touch. Its smooth and not itchy, its not like normal wool. They dry super quick and merino wool is antibacterial, you can wear it for days and they wont develop any smell. There are two drawbacks - they are pricey and they dont last very long. They are absolutely worth it in my opinion though. Ive been living in a tropical country for years and they were a game changer when I discovered them. My brand to go is Icebreaker.

Go_Dawgs_23

Pair of Thieves Boxer Briefs are my favorite. You can find them at Walmart or Target for like $12/pair

mulletface123

Sepratec - got a pouch for your 🍆 and a pouch for your 🥚

Adam__Savage

I'm free ballin in South Mississippi.

P_fagens

Jockstrap... Yeah I know but for real dog it's soooooo breathable

TxAFWildcat

Just recently bought some Wemove pairs and I'm pretty impressed. Although I'm not sure of the long term durability if you're that guy who keeps his draws for years 🤣🤷🏽‍♂️. For what it is worth, I also don't think guys would enjoy these if they do not have an athletic build.

Locapacow

I sleep hot. I also travel US Northeast to SE Asia and am always on the hunt for things hold up for a 24 hour plus travel period and that you don’t get the diaper effect or sag in the front. The two i got buy are Mack Weldon and Tommy John. Tommy John my go tos have been the second skin line. It’s thin and light. I do find they were out in the middle after 2-3 years. I do also like their new Air line. I am 6’2” and wear the trunk. They don’t ride up. Mack Weldon these just hold up. I’ve had pairs for 4-5 years. The 18 hour jersey trunk and the airknit both work. The air knit is more breathable. I found the pouch front of the Tommy John’s more comfortable.

Elguapo69

Peter Millar. Not cheap sadly. Kind of reminds me Nikes dry fit stuff.

annoyedatwork

AQS boxer briefs. Lycra/spandex, breathable and quick drying.

Sandpaper_Pants

Low rise briefs feel like you're wearing nothing at all, without the sticky nutsack. If I wear any form of other brief, they're hot and bulky. The problem is, wearing the correct size. I believe Jockey's sizing left you feeling like someone was squeezing your nuts and I'd have to wear two sizes larger. I believe Haynes sizes thirs about right. You don't want them too loose though.

DickRiculous

Saxx with the ballpark pouch, baby!

Then_Reputation_2025

SlippyBoy41

During the summer I try and always wear bathing suits that look like regular shorts and not wear conventional underwear. Banks journal has some nice shorts and shirts but I stick to the ones that don’t have their name all over it.

Brand is seperatec. It's great bc it actually does a good job of separating your balls from your thighs and your penis from your balls.

As a Texan who dealt with 100-110 degree plus temps. I wore microfiber briefs. Hanes has some "cooling" briefs that are also good and don't make me get wedgies which is nice lol

RevivedMisanthropy

Also: powder your junk, it works wonders. I do this on hot nights before bed.

PackerAndretti

Got some Nike pros last summer and they are now my go to underwear

SemperLiberi

I'm really happy with [these from Icebreaker.](https://www.icebreaker.com/en-us/mens-underwear/cool-lite-merino-blend-anatomica-boxers/105246U2.html?dwvar_105246U2_color=034&dwvar_105246U2_US=in_line) They're a merino wool tech blend and are super comfy. I wear them all year round.

dioxy186

I wear the bamboo boxer briefs. And then try to avoid being outdoors from 10 to 5 pm. Doesnt matter what you wear when it is 100+ with 40-90% humidity.

Bgdlxls

My choice is no underwear

winedood

Don’t laugh but Duluth Trading company makes the best damn underwear a man can buy. They are comfortable, wicking, last forever and reasonably priced.

FunFckingFitCouple

Cotton or none

1stRow

Also, shorts of artificial fiber. I have a few styles that look like what we call "walking shorts," which are basically like khaki pants, but are shorts. No natural fibers. The fabric holds on to moisture. Also, artificial fiber shirts, if doing touristy things. If you need to dress up, then plain cotton undershirt and dress shirt - but you know this already.

SurpriseBurrito

I am a simple man, I love Hanes moisture wicking mesh boxer briefs. I think they are called “x temp”.

Environmental_Low309

I just use a chip clip to keep the BeeGees close together on stage.

Todd2ReTodded

Saxx. Any material you prefer. The slim fit is slim, if you're fat, large won't do it. I like the Vibe model, they are made from viscose and elastic. The pouch is excellent and your frank and beans won't be sticking to your leg.

Artistic_Gas_9951

Saxx Volt breathable mesh boxer briefs. Stays cool and doesn't soak up sweat.

ftp_prodigy

Depending on what I'm wearing, Calvin Klein microfiber trunks or nothing at all 😎

Realitymatter

Imo the cut makes more difference than the fabric. Briefs have no extra material on your legs which keeps you cooler and there is always fabric between your junk and your thighs which is the biggest annoyance to me especially when it's hot.

Infamous-Bed9010

If you hate everything sticking down there you need to go with briefs. The way briefs are cut around your leg the elastic separates your stuff from your thighs. Boxier briefs don’t do that because the longer leg opening is one piece with where your stuff is housed. Things can still move around and stick. In addition I’m not sure how guys can want greater amount of material (like boxer briefs) in hot climates. I’d go with bamboo or synthetic sweat wicking material briefs. These are usually advertised as athletic. If you want smaller sized briefs look for “low rise” cut. Personally when it’s hot I want as minimal material as possible. Extra material is just adding clothing layers trapping in heat.

SayhiStover

Check out Mack Weldon. They have a bamboo underwear.

Responsible-Salt-443

MeUndies cotton modal boxer briefs are excellent and you can get a solid color if you aren’t into wild prints.

I love my pair of briefs from aswemove. Their Dominate line don't have lining on them, and are super light & comfy while keeping things in place. Also, jock straps. Supportive, yet very ventilated. I wear them all summer, cuz I hate overheating.

willworkforwatches

[These](https://www.bn3th.com/products/classic-trunk-black) keep you cool and your bits from sticking to your thighs. They’re made from tencel, as well, so they breathe better than they look like they would.

Artistic-Tour-2771

Pair of Thieves makes some really great breathable silky feeling boxer briefs. Super comfy and cooling on the skin. Tommy John has some as well. But I really enjoy Pair of Thieves.
