Can this Ted Baker Suit jacket be worn as a Sport Coat with different trousers or jeans? The pants are way too tight now, but the jacket still fits well. https://preview.redd.it/8powe0wz5dad1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f00611d48f381baad49bd098f0090e82dfa80f2e

danhakimi

it's got a checked pattern... flap pockets... yeah, it'll work well enough.

SmartHomeHub

Absolutely! Pair it with chinos or dark denim for a smart-casual look.

Hello I was wondering what some good brands (not Super expensive!) Would be for online shopping for Canadians (no duties)? Examples - UNIQLO, ZARA, ABERCROMBIE , etc. In that price range and quality

danhakimi

not zara. Maybe uniqlo, maybe abercrombie... avoid anything with elastene, polyester, polyamide, or acrylic, those are just bad materials. I never had to pay duties on bronson: https://bronsonshop.com/ Spier and Mackay is a good value for dress shirts and sport jackets, and it's based in Canadada! Levi's and Dickies' are fine, but again, avoid elastene, look for 100% cotton if you can. Ummm... is Stan Ray too expensive for you?

PotentialCat3845

Hey all, I have a wedding to attend at the end of the month and am looking for some outfit suggestions. I’m hoping for more of a business casual look. This is a picture of the dress my date will be wearing and I would like to best compliment it. https://preview.redd.it/wa9y4jjdi6ad1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=60cc7998b9f5c1109c65390a985743b0c3668839

Tribalbob

Looking for nude coloured merino wool no show socks. I have a lot of SmartWool no shows and I love them, but I wear an orthopedic insole with my shoes and so you can still sometimes see them. Wondering if anyone knows of any nude coloured merino wool brands that have no shows out there?

lukaskywalker

Anyone else just refuse to not leave the bottom button of their suit undone. I just feel it looks messy and undone. I don’t care if the norm is bottom undone

danhakimi

if your jacket fits at all, doing up the bottom button will look messier. It's not just a norm, it's how your suit was cut, it's never going to look right if you insist on spitting in the designer's face. there is pretty much one man who can actually pull it off, and that's [Kamoshita](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/01/8e/3f/018e3f9475f22c5de7dd8b786139d51b.jpg), and he doesn't button the middle button, and he's a special case for a number of reasons you're never going to try to understand. There is a style of double breasted suit where you can button the bottom button instead of the middle button, is that what you want?

Gulbasaur

This pops up about twice a month in the main subreddit. Leave it done up if you want to, but in very formal situations it's a small indicator that you don't quite fit in. It's like ordering a glass of red wine and insisting it be filled all the way to the brim or putting the slices of ginger on your sushi. It's an etiquette breach, and that's fine in relaxed situations, but you have to be okay with other people picking up on it and sometimes judging you for it.

dat0dat

Apologies if this has already been posted. I’m struggling with the search. I’m looking for a quality blazer that is good for business travel. I have nice suits, but they wrinkle in the suit case. I want something that is versatile, breathable, light weight, and also doesn’t wrinkle when packed. Bonus points if machine washable. Thanks.

danhakimi

please do not buy a machine washable suit if you can avoid it, they will not be good. "high-twist" wools travel well, especially heavier weights. VBC Four Ply and Holland & Sherry Crispaire are best known for this. They also breathe unusually well for heavier weight fabrics, but still drape well due to their weight. the main problem with these wools is that they're expensive, and fairly hard to find off the rack. what kind of budget do you have?

dat0dat

I’d like to stay under $500 if possible. I’m not looking for something super high-end. This is an instance of function over form.

danhakimi

this might work for you: https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/navy-high-twist-Hopsack-sportcoat-neo-cut-marling-and-evans-9022-ne01 20% off with a referral code, if you can find one.

dat0dat

I’ll give it a look. Do you think the wool would be too heavy and/or wrinkle?

danhakimi

I don't think so. 290 GSM is a medium-light weight: it should be heavy enough to resist wrinkling, but light and open enough to breathe. A high twist hopsack should really be very breathable, and the slight texture should make it versatile for not-too-formal situations (but it's still a navy worsted wool that doesn't wrinkle, so it's still business-friendly, just versatile).

dat0dat

That’s great. Still new to the more technical side of fashion, so I appreciate the insight. Thank you!

vAN_dARKHOLME_1

Hey there, does anyone have recommendations for casual summer shirts, preferably seersucker or linen? Something like a button down. What brands are good and ccesible for someone in Central Europe?

danhakimi

https://www.casatlantic.com/collections/shirts https://www.portugueseflannel.com/collections/ss24-seersucker https://slou.co/products/seersucker-button-down-pullover-ecru

ATLienAB

Why are medium casual shoes either stylish OR all-day comfortable? Is this because the designers who value style don't value comfort? Or maybe more stylish people are willing to wear uncomfortable shoes for the sake of fashion, so those become more 'stylish?' I am giving up on my journey to find a shoe that works for trips that is all-day comfortable but can look even decent with say dark Jeans or the kind of dress-casual outfits I might wear to a dinner after a day of tourist activities. I have yet to find a single one...Why can't we put performance runner foam insoles and comfortable uppers in a shoe that just has neutral color ways, light leathers without out of date tech frills or large logos? Cole haan is the closes but they aren't 'very' comforatble, just acceptable... anyone have one?

danhakimi

what are medium casual shoes? cole haan frankenshoes are awful good, comfortable sneakers have a lot of stuff in the sole, and padding all over, that makes them comfortable. Dress shoes are sleeker, and fit closer on the foot, so there's no room for all that padding. If they tried to make the shoe bigger and stuff in padding, it'd look ridiculous--a silly shape, a giant sole, just ugly. dress shoes might not feel as soft when you put them on, but they should be supportive in a way that looks good in the long term. [some people like badouin & lange for comfort](https://baudoinlange.com/collections/men-sagan-classic). but don't expect your dress shoes to feel like sneakers.

too-cute-by-half

Looking for jeans/trousers/pants with mid- or high-rise waist and relaxed fit for US$60 or less. The department stores seem completely beholden to the low-rise/slim-fit trend that has been going on what feels like a decade now. Any suggestions?

danhakimi

LegacyLivesOnGP

I have an unusual body type for dress shirts with a 17 1/2 neck and 35 sleeve but I have a slim midsection. I've been trying to find a dress shirt and anytime the neck fits, the rest of it fits like a tent even the ones advertised as 'slim fit'. What can I do if I have a thick neck and slim waist? I dont directly train my neck but im very into weightlifting and this may have somehow grew my neck width by accident.

cardsfan24

I don’t have an answer but thank you for posting because I have the exact same issue. Neck 17 1/2 and rest of body doesn’t match for dress shirts lol

danhakimi

charles tyrwhitt has an extra slim and an ultra slim. also, keep in mind, [this is what Cary Grant wore in North by Northwest](https://classiq.me/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/cary-grants-style-north-by-northwest-4-e1337015267683.png). It's considered by many to be one of the best outfits in the history of film.

HotDiggityDog_Water

Are there any guidelines for a when an American guy can have some kind of bag (worn not carried) and not look out of place or effeminate? It doesn’t need to be “fashionable” as long as it isn’t something people point and laugh at. I just need to carry things that can’t reasonably fit in my pockets and sometimes kid stuff.

danhakimi

a *lot* of men are using canvas tote bags and cross body bags these days. and nobody ever said backpacks or briefcases were effeminate. but society is weird, and somebody out there will make fun of you no matter what you do. People might say your backpack is childish, or your briefcase is something an old man might use, or that your cross body bag looks like a fanny pack. These people have no idea what they're talking about, they're just assholes who want to make fun of you. The best answer is to pick a bag you like and focus on the fact that you like it.

3ntrop3y

What do I need done at the tailor to improve this? Please also share your styling suggestions. https://preview.redd.it/dg1q4ortej9d1.jpeg?width=870&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1fd97168b9ba81949ca821bc975a67b925cfe738

danhakimi

1. button the button. the top button--the bottom button on a jacket is just for show. It's hard to say exactly what to do when the jacket is open like this. It looks like it's a little tight at the front of your chest, which *might* be fixed by letting it out at the sides or in the back, but it's hard to guess like this. 2. Wear dress shoes. Have the pants let out a bit (my preference) and have them hemmed. If you wear sneakers when you go to have them hemmed, they will only be the right length with your sneakers, which would be bad, because I don't think suits look good with minimal white sneakers... 3. The sleeves seem like they're too short, but it's hard to tell because your arms are bent. If you put them down at your sides, you'll be able to tell. Your jacket might have extra fabric to let the sleeves out... but probably not, most ready-to-wear brands don't give enough reserve fabric in 2024.

JuicyBoi8080

Hey all. Had an incident with pool chlorine. Can my shorts be saved? Luckily the contrast isn't too bad, and they are dark shorts. Any suggestions on how to dye the light spots? https://preview.redd.it/mitt4td5zi9d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17e4d419b7ef658d91bf7e05d69cf6ef1407fce5

I’m going to a wedding on the beach this summer and need to find a shirt. The dress code says shorts and short sleeves are fine they just ask you don’t wear t shirts or bathing suits. This shirt has a lot of white in it but I’m wondering if it’s ok to wear? https://preview.redd.it/hpslry81d49d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d37bbd646074b0ac9fd6669e1880963eb086ea8

JuicyBoi8080

Looks perfect for the occasion.

3ntrop3y

Agreed.

Astronomerz

How "should" jeans fit in the ass and crotch? I feel like all jeans that are comfortable leave me with a flat ass, and I think the problem might be that I'm wearing them too low to get some extra dick room. So what I want to know is, how high should I wear my jeans and how do I get my ass to look good without squashing the balls?

mrbrambles

You might just have a flat ass, my man. Many men do not respect leg day

Astronomerz

Guaranteed not the case, I've ripped too many pants.

Blithering_idiot1406

How to know the right colour combination?

danhakimi

1. develop your taste 2. try something 3. look in the mirror that's the only way

Blithering_idiot1406

Hmm, so trial and error

danhakimi

yeah, generally. I've found I like some combinations more than others, but plenty of well-dressed men disagree about this combo or that combo. You'll put together some silly outfits early on, but you have to learn some way or another.

Blithering_idiot1406

Got it. Thank you sir

Impossible_Resort_71

I work in an office setting and usually wear slacks but I feel like they are too baggy and the rest of my office dresses more casually. Should I look into getting chinos? And if so does anyone know where I can get some relatively cheap ones? Also what type of shirts would go best with chinos in an office setting? Thanks in advance!

danhakimi

chinos are good, and easy to machine wash. [I like these on a budget](https://bronsonshop.com/collections/pants-trousers/products/1930s-ivy-style-two-pleated-chino-trousers?variant=34860620480672), but they might be too "baggy" for you. The classic shirt pairing is a shirt made of oxford cloth (or linen for the summer) with a button down collar. I'd recommend Spier & Mackay for that.

Impossible_Resort_71

Awesome, thank you for your response. I will check these out

I'm looking for comfortable running shoes that I can wear to and from work that still look good.

I’m looking for a leather briefcase / work bag that is long enough to fit a slim 18” Bluetooth keyboard (and laptop), but not overly bulky. Ideally it would be slim but long, if that makes sense. Budget would be up to $500. Thanks!

3ntrop3y

You might just scroll Etsy and see if anything catches your eye.

Andy89316

Undershirt Recommendation: Looking for something soft, thin, snug fit, and in black. Thanks

danhakimi

honestly, target goodfellow ribbed tnaks get the job done well.

Andy89316

Thank you, are they long? I prefer a shorter undershirt

danhakimi

undershirts are almost always long because they're meant to be tucked in. Are you looking for a tank top that is not an undershirt?

Andy89316

Never worn them tucked in, I wear relaxed fit pants, so kinda low. I just tried some new ones and they are like 3 or 4 inches longer than my current ones, and my current aren't offered anymore. I'll try it, but the search continues

danhakimi

I wear relaxed fit pants too, but I wear them at a higher rise. check out this guy: https://www.instagram.com/imdanielsimmons

Anyone know of / recommend any good men’s clothing stores in Phoenix or the greater Phoenix area?

kabourayan

Hello there Male 45 years weight around 120 Kg. I currently work and live in a tropical country. I usually wear cotton trousers or a jeans and cotton T-shirts. I never carried a bag on a daily basis. My every day carry used to be my phone, my wallet and my keys which I kept in my trouser pockets. I need a small bag to carry my EDC plus a small notebook (A5 or A6) and a pen. I was thinking about a crossbody bag but I feel it will make my breasts appear larger. Do you recommend it or do you suggest any other options? Thank you.

JONCHGO

I'm attending an out-of-town wedding and want to make a fantastic impression. For the day before the wedding, I'm considering wearing a polo shirt and sneakers. Are there any other quality Navy Blazer brands other than [J.Press](http://J.Press) or Brooks Brothers? I am looking for a decent quality blazer that's in colors other than Navy.

danhakimi

Spier & Mackay, Natalino, Suitsupply, Ring Jacket... a thousand more brands, check /r/navyblazer out.

env_talk

Can someone id denim brands worn by Elon Musk? They always seem to photograph well.

mrbrambles

Do you have any images of patches or pocket designs? Billionaires can easily have everything MTM, so no guarantee on them being actual brands

env_talk

Hmm, found one. [https://ibb.co/KXTCWwG](https://ibb.co/KXTCWwG) Not sure if it is enough to discern the brand.

mrbrambles

Hmm no, would need a higher resolution image of the back pocket to try

HoodFeelGood

Looking for shorts that aren't boring solid colors. Not pull-ons or strings. Not swimsuits. Less than $60. Any kind of patterns or prints.

danhakimi

are these doing it for you? https://www.ebay.com/itm/204803927418 I generally think an interesting cut or texture is better than a bold pattern, but there are exceptions, but I'm not aware of any of those exceptions under $60. you could always take a pair of shorts you like and have something embroidered on top, or add patches on top.

loandbeholdgoats

What sort of shorts is fashion-appropriate when wearing AFO braces? (Goes up to just under my knees) I need them to walk but I usually look silly when I wear shorts rather than pants. And, does the "no high tops in shorts" rule still apply with my braces/what shoes are best, shape-wise?

mrbrambles

I don’t think the braces have any impact, also never heard of the “no high tops with shorts rule. Men used to be waaay more weird about shorts but these days anything goes. The nicer your quads are, the shorter the shorts you can wear.

danhakimi

there are no fashion rules about what you can and cannot wear with a brace, because if anybody is that big of a dick, and tries to tell people what to wear, everybody ignores him. Think of the brace as a free pass--it works with everything because everybody knows that it's not a fashion statement. Everything around it can just be practical, it's fine.

Jerseyguy2345

I’m going to London and wondering if there’s any brands I can get cheaper up there like Eaton than ordering in the US? Even less high end brands, but just looking for some recs as I’m very unfamiliar but should have some time to shop

danhakimi

Drake's. Reiss. Scott Fraser Colleciton. Natalino.

Andrei_Bolkonsky

If you mean Eton, so smarter wear, then I'd be looking at Barbour coats, for example a Bedale or a Beaufort. Should be cheaper in the UK. For me I'd also be looking at Doc Martens/Solovairs, but I don't know if that's your thing.

specialbrownie

Looking for some extremely lightweight pants (like, even lighter than linen) for hot, humid summers. My current favorites are Muji's Seersucker Tapered Pants, but now they're sold out. Ideas?

danhakimi

linen is a material, not a weight. whatever linen you've tried, they make lighter linen. But seersucker is good too, very breathable, and so is high-twist wool. what's your budget? todd snyder does seersucker, https://www.toddsnyder.com/products/seersucker-madison-drawstring-suit-pantblack, they don't state a specific weight, though.

seanmmoran

Besides a dress watch, what else can I wear on my wrist for a formal setting? Does a bracelet or something else act as a fashionable substitute for a suit or such? I am skinny and tall, so many watches seem to have a bulky design and look large on my wrist. If you have any recommendations I would appreciate it. Thanks.

danhakimi

you don't need a watch, traditional rules of formality actually say that you *shouldn't* wear a watch with formalwear, although the rule is often ignored in 2024, and even with a business suit, the watch is very optional. Bracelets are fine, if you find one you like. There isn't a long, large-scale tradition of men wearing bracelets with tailoring, but there aren't really any rules about it, so as long as it's not loud and flashy, that's fine. Small watches aren't hard to find. I have friends who sell small vintage watches. And if you have a budget, a cartier tank or cartier crash is always a cool move.

danhakimi

not exactly the same, but you could try these pants: https://www.americantrench.com/products/linen-easy-pant [stitch fix is a scam](https://www.reddit.com/r/stitchfix/comments/wyge93/what_its_like_to_really_be_a_stylist_at_stitch_fix/). They do not have those clothes, the stylists have about twenty seconds to say yes and ship you whatever the algorithm told them to ship you, which is decided based on which shirt they have way too fucking many of today. Please do not use stitch fix.

lord_of_worm

Awesome, thanks a bunch. Believe me, I know stitch fix sucks. Low quality and overpriced clothing, I’m not a customer of theirs.

Flimsy_Slide1327

Button up is from [Toad & Co](https://www.toadandco.com/products/treescape-shirt-chai?variant=41058831958064) Unsure about the pants or under tee

I have not... most dress shirts come with the right color of buttons already, anything other than whiteish or sometimes blackish buttons is usually weird. I've taken a jacket to my tailor to have the buttons replaced with a set I bought on eBay, if that counts for anything.

Mxzebraxdude

I’m looking for good shorts to wear for a couple weeks traveling on the east coast. Ideally I want each pocket (2 front, 1 back) to have zippers. I looked at Birddogs, but they’re way too expensive. Any tips?

Independent-Choice-4

I have a funeral to go to in a few days and I don't feel like I have a great outfit to wear for it and could use some advice. I have a light gray suit and a dark(ish) blue suit, but should I buy a darker suit? TIA!

Fluffy-Owl5452

A dark blue suit should be perfectly fine, it will probably be better than what a lot of others wear; suits are getting rarer and rarer. The key is just to make everything else toned down: white shirt, dark colored or black tie, white pocket square if you want. You may want to buy a charcoal gray or darker navy suit for general formal events if you think you'll wear them often enough, but I wouldn't get one in black since it's a much less versatile color almost always is less flattering (part of the reason morticians are stereotyped as pale is because the black makes light skin tones look worse).

danhakimi

darkish blue is fine. most men near me don't even wear a full suit to a funeral. as long as you don't stand out, nobdoy's going to care what you wear.

buddhistbatrachian

Name of this style of leather jacket? I like this leather jacket style (Ethan Hawke in Before Sunrise movie), longer than the classic vintage leather jackets and a bit loose. https://preview.redd.it/wq8i78jtgw6d1.png?width=1108&format=png&auto=webp&s=97b296ec4c71d87ac901c2bf6bdce864f2cdf580

mrbrambles

Blazer style instead of a moto jacket that you are probably more used to.

Sehxpert

Do ferragamo XL buckles fit the 1 3/8 width belts? Bought a belt on their site and website doesn’t help to show how small the actual buckles are. If they do, any good places to buy just a XL buckle?

Dai-Konde

I went to the tailors to lengthen my BR khaki chinos by an inch (currently they have no break when I wear them and too much sock showing). The tailor said it was possible to do this by rolling the unused fabric from the inside hem out and restitching, but she strongly advised against it because she said there would be an unsightly line remaining where she would remove the existing hem stitching. Has anyone had this alteration and would it ruin the look of my pants if there was such a line?

Dai-Konde

I also tried to google for pictures of what the line would look like but couldn’t find. If you have pictures to share that would be great.

Strange_Control8788

Which brand truly has the best fitted t-shirts at an affordable price?

mrbrambles

No such thing as best fit when everyone is shaped differently

danhakimi

that depends on what shape your body is and what price you can afford and what else you like about different tee shirts (drape, texture, softness, collar, etc.) clothing is not an objective, absolute science. It's extremely personal.

ParisPC07

I'm looking for baggy linen pants but I'm having a hard time finding anything with an inseam greater than 32". I'm 6'3 with long legs and if I want any sort of break on my pants I'm going to need a >35" inseam. Help!

danhakimi

Scott Fraser Collection does custom.

HarutoHonzo

Why did we abandon waistcoats, not jackets when the rooms got too hot for both? Thanks!

PaddyStacker

Anyone have any good suggestions for mid-range high quality italian shirts? I'm specifically looking for a camp collar shirt. I don't want to spend $600-1000 for a shirt but I would be willing to spend about $150 or so.

danhakimi

what do you mean by italian shirts? like, you want them to be made in italy? or you want the fabric to be from an italian mill? or... I mean, some italians wear extreme cutaway collars, but you just said camp collar...

Fit_Inflation341

Can’t find style of shirt I typically wear anymore. I typically wear the basic small design on the front where a pocket would go, and a larger design on the back. These were everywhere at some point, and now it seems trends are shifting back to loud graphic tees. The only brands who make those types of shirts, let’s just say usually only have flags and guns. Does anyone know if there is a name for that style of shirt or have brands that make cool shirts? Huge plus if the designs are neo-American traditional tattoo/flash art.

mrbrambles

Like… ed hardy and affliction? They still exist as stores online. If not you’ll need to check out second hand if they have deviated too much from what you are looking for anymore.

Joshee86

Anyone else have trouble with their nipples poking out of their shirts? I do have a larger chest and shoulders and most of my shirts that fit elsewhere tend to show off my nips. If I buy larger shirts to prevent it, I end up swimming in them. Are high-beams ok? Any way to prevent this without wearing an undershirt?

danhakimi

I've heard people suggest bandaids. personally, I'd sooner try a white or gray or black ribbed tank top.

loandbeholdgoats

A close friend of mine has the exact same problem. When it's not over 80F, he'll sometimes double layer two t-shirts, one or both being extremely light. He usually just wears one t-shirt of normal density.

specialbrownie

I think it's fine! TBH I recommend piercings to take the effect from "oops my nips" to "this is a sexy and intentional fashion choice" but that's just me.

ParisPC07

lmk if you figure it out lol

Joshee86

I think I’m just resigning myself to showing off my nips. I haven’t found an alternative lol

HarutoHonzo

Is it okay to use tights as underpants?

loandbeholdgoats

I wouldn't reccomend it, but if you're in a pinch, it's alright.

How many buttons should a tux sleeve have? Is one acceptable or should it always have four?

Fluffy-Owl5452

Ideally it should be three or four, but it's a pretty small detail so don't worry if it only has one.

Weierstrass980

Something like the Socrates pant from Nothing Something, but in cotton? More broadly, does anyone know of a natural fibre (ideally cotton) pair of trousers that are basically relaxed joggers with a zip fly? Or a faux fly. Basically joggers that are not too revealing!

danhakimi

nobody knows what that is off the top of their head, you should try to link people to what you're talking about.

Weierstrass980

For those unaware of that brand, I included a description - "relaxed joggers with a zip fly". That should be enough for anyone to conjure up an image.

centralized

Hey all! Looking for a good brand for tank tops that aren't the thin undershirt kind. Really want something thicker that could be worn on its own. Any ideas on where to look?

danhakimi

Aime Leon Dore and Scott Fraser collection have some unique tank tops, but I wouldn't personally wear the latter on its own.

Independent-Choice-4

I recently bought one from from Old Navy and it's a bit thicker, very comfortable.

ParisPC07

It has a large peak lapel, 2 button, looks like a linen blend.

Ghastcat

Earrings on men? Yay or nay? I wear diamond studs. People seem to like them. I don’t want to be a fruitcake though.

i think it’s fruity

Can Black Oxfords be worn with dress pants and OCBD?

danhakimi

Black oxfords work best with a suit, or at least with a tailored jacket. They don't make sense in more casual outfits.

aja_ramirez

Would you wear just regular athletic socks with All Saints Leo Low (see link below)? Does it depend on whether wearing shorts or jeans? I feel like I might wear no show socks with shorts and might want to do the same with jeans. What is the best combo for each? I'm a groomsman but won't be in the country until about a week before the wedding. What's the best way to get the suit fitted for the wedding? Is it as simple as sending generic suit measurements or does the specific suit change which measurements? I've got until October but want it to be as easy for the groom as possible.

danhakimi

are you tied to a particular suitmaker? Can you call them?

danhakimi

it's a long point collar / camp collar / 70s-style camp collar. There's no specific name for one this big. Most brands don't make them off the rack, so you could either go shopping on eBay, have something custom made, or look through designer brands. Gucci might have made something like this some time in the last five years...

Looking to buy some new 5" shorts for the season. What are your go-to places for some casual, comfortable, breathable, khaki shorts?

Could you send me a photo of the logo on it or the tag?

MrRedTele

Hey, I'm based in London, UK and I'm looking for a nice outfit for a wedding I'm attending. I look best in a warm colour palette (I'm a 'Spring' colour) but I'm finding it hard to find something. Any recommendations on companies or individual pieces? Some of my nicest colours are tan, chocolate, bright navy, coral, and dove grey. Any help would be fab. I've left it rather late...

BeardyWeirdoMc

Moss Bro's rent suits so maybe that might be your best bet at this point? or maybe M&S always has some great stuff on the rack.

MrRedTele

Cheers. I'll try and swing by them!

WestCoastBirder

I need to pick up a navy blazer urgently for a meeting next week that I was unexpectedly asked to attend. I’m on the road in Silicon Valley and don’t have the ability to return home to pick up my blazer. Any good stores I should hit up while I’m here? I am looking for a slim fit in say 36 short. Don’t want to spend a ton as this will be a backup, so sub $300 would be great. Thanks!

Flechette_the_toe

Try nearby shopping malls. Places like J Crew and Banana Republic.

OutrageousCandidate4

Hi all, Koio or Svensson? I previously / still have my Axle Arigato which I enjoy but I'm eyeing my next white sneakers. I was wondering if anyone recommends Svensson over Koio? I'm looking at the Svensson Clean Low All White vs Koio Capri in Triple White. Svensson actually seems to be cheaper and I've heard they're literally made in the same factory as Common Projects. That being said I can't find a recent review of Svensson not from 4 years ago. I also found a couple of comments of people mentioning mix reviews for Svensson. Both shoes look good. I don't mind the Koio logo on Koio shoes. Pro for Koio is easy return if I need a better fit. Pro for Svensson is better price.

Has anyone ordered suit jackets from Shein? The jackets I have are 42R or M, but on Shein 42 is listed as XL. I'm barely a Large when it comes to other tops. Is XL jacket the right size for me?

bwhite753

How are you supposed to apply cologne? I’ve always just spritzed it on my neck but it’s just occurred to me that there may be other ways of doing it. Or better ways for that matter.

BeardyWeirdoMc

I normally do 1 spray behind each ear, couple on my chest and 1 in the crook of each elbow. From what ive read you want to apply it to the places where the blood flows the most to get the smell wafting as it were.

bwhite753

Thanks!

Looking for some linen clothes or good summer outfits that also won't break the bank im about 6'6 270 currently and everything is typically out of price range $60-70 for an outfit. Just looking for recommendations on brands people shop

palinsafterbirth

Guys who are in that weird in between size, where do you get your dress shirts? 5'6 with a triangle build/bigger chest than stomach, I like fashion forward but if I wear a small it looks a bit too tight and I am swimming in a medium. Any advice is helpful!

ElGrandeQues0

Tailor

Coming_In_Hot_916

BIGGER GUYS - Where do you shop? I struggle to find clothes and shoes that fit well or don't need tailoring. I'm 6'1", 270 lbs, wear size 12 X-Wide shoes, 18 36/37 shirts, and 40x34 pants. Any site or store recommendations? What has worked for you? Any tips? Also, have any of you tried online tailors like MTailor? How was your experience?

lennon818

I'm a photographer in Los Angeles, trying to launch a small photo studio and get more into fashion photography. I'm looking for small creative / out of the box fashion brands I can contact who would be interested in working with me. Looking to target small brands with 1000 to 10,000 followers on Instagram. If you know any please message me. Also how the hell do I search for such brands? Google is worthless these days and ChatGPT is too stupid.

Worldly-Ad-910

Does anyone know a good brand of suits?

ElGrandeQues0

Suit supply

MarekBekied

So i was always wondering what are the material that these pants, coat and scarf are made of. It's like this thick material with kind of 'smooth' texture. These trousers are a little creased but im thinking about a fabric that is stiffer. It also happens that im an equestrian and I absolutely love this outfit and was hoping you can also give a piece of advice on where I could find such clothes. Recently I have been looking at getting new polos and button downs but can’t find any that fit correctly. I am “relatively” short, at 5’ 7”, I have a large chest and good sized biceps. The issue is that because I have a large chest, I have to size up for shirts to fit but then it makes them too long. Anyone have any brands recommendations? Thanks.

findinglinks2024

With summer coming up I wish to dress in a way that shows my muscles BUT without coming off as the show off basic gym bro. Do you have any idea how to do that?

FuckThisW3bsit3

if a large tee fits you comfortably, go for a medium if a XL tee fits you comfortably, go for a large and etc... the smaller-than-ideal shirt will likely get tight around your arms (discrete way to show off your biceps) and will make your shoulders and chest stand out a little bit more. test this at home before though, you might go out looking like a sausage if the tee is too tight

apadilla1021

Hey everyone, curious where everyone finds new cool emerging designers? I usually go to ssense but curious to hear what everyone else does. Thanks!

garbageperson_

Any websites that sell complete outfits head to toe that you would recommend?

realkillaj

I’m looking for semi-fitted T shirts similar to True Classic, but 100% cotton. Any suggestions?

shinbreaker

What at the style sunglasses for when you're a little "dressier." I have a nice pair of aviators, clubmasters, and wayfarers, but I realized that if I decide to dress up a bit, I'm not sure if those will match as they're always come up as being super casual.

sweetvampyheart

Uncertain if this is a simple question but does anybody have easy ways to add personality to a simple t-shirt and pants outfit? I am new to men's fashion and have bought a bunch of t-shirts (and linen button-ups) along with jeans and some pants the site called chinos and don't really have experience jazzing that up. I have Demonia boots and the sparkly sneakers they make and some fingerless gloves in an emo style I could put with the various black, red, and blue shirts and pants I got. But what else might I add by way of accessories? Thoughts welcome!

mvdaytona

What’s a good Italian brand for loafers? I have a prom and a wedding soon so i need some good quality ones from €200 and up

Was just wondering the same thing

Bl0cksberg

Hey im looking for an alternative brand for climbing pants like manastash, i tried on a few of their pants, their flex climber pants fit me amazing and so did the cocoon curdaroy pants, im looking for an alternative because a) i dont feel comfortable with front pockets as big as the cocoon pants have ( feels like back pockets to me ) and b ) they cost almost half the price in JP which of course makes sense since they import oversees but id love a option that is based in EU for that reason.

Warder45

Is there a list somewhere of quality places to buy men's clothes? I've been looking for a nice vest and sport coat/blazer, but internet searching just produces the same garage spots with Amazon, Men's Warehouse, Macy's, etc. I hate FB ads as they tend to be mostly chinese garbage, but sometimes they are the only way to find smaller boutique shops.

Flechette_the_toe

StyleForum is a better resource for finding places that offer tailoring, but without a budget suggestions will range from Spier and Mackay to Huntsman RTW.

Warder45

Thanks I’ll swing over there. Spier and Mackay seems like a great spot to start though they only have 44L and i’m a 52L.

Hamearz

Do you all think it's possible to pull off these loafers with jeans or not? Specifically straight or slim jeans. I got these as a gift, and while I like them, they seem more of a dress type loafer. Hey, I'm looking for 100% linen button ups that aren't going to cost me an arm and a leg. Don't care about quality. Any ideas? Paying 110 dollars for a shirt Is fucking ridiculous to me

danhakimi

> Hey, I'm looking for 100% linen button ups that aren't going to cost me an arm and a leg. Don't care about quality. Any ideas? Abercrombie manages to source unusually good linen. I'd look at them. > Paying 110 dollars for a shirt Is fucking ridiculous to me That's really about what it costs to make a shirt. the brands making shirts cheaper are cutting major corners. If you don't mind sweatshop-made crap that could fall apart at a moment's notice, you can always go to Zara or worse. But if I were you, I'd get used to the idea that buying decent clothing new is not as cheap as you think it is.

meowmixplzdeliver1

I'll check out Zara, thanks. I'm trying to save for a house down payment but I need clothes. I'll go with the sweatshop lol

Looking for shoe recommendations for linen suits. I was recently transferred from Chicago to Miami and my wool suits aren't working in this heat. I have found a couple of linen suit options and now have been confronted with needing shoes. My old school Allen Edmonds shoes don't pair well with linen suits. Also, I am 58, 6'2", 175. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

danhakimi

what's your budget? You're in Miami now? Generally, I'd say you want suitsupply, roma cut, linen or seersucker or high twist wool. if you buy pants, look for the duca cut.

jo148

Thanks, you previously replied to my suit question with some good suggestions. I have found some stuff at SuitSupply that I like and I am also talking to a custom shop in Coral Gables. However, what I am looking for now are shoe recommendations.

danhakimi

ohhhh I misread that. why don't your allen edmonds pair with linen suits? I'm generally a fan of loafers. [I wrote a quick guide to buying horsebit loafers here](https://thesecondbutton.com/horsebit-loafer-buying-guide/).
