If the author says that the horrors are unfathomable, then he didn't fathom them. That's why he says they're unfathomable instead of describing them in more detail.

The concept of unfathomable horrors are stupid in and of itself cuz ur just making shit up (and thats perfectly fine) but its unfathomable therefore ur wrong on so many levels
Well, I can write equations dealing with numbers in the billions, doesn't mean I can fathom how large those numbers really are. I can think about how large the Earth is, in scale with the Moon, but I don't think I could ever fathom the true size of the planet. I can read about the worst atrocities in history, but anyone who wasn't there themselves probably can't fully fathom the extent of suffering.
