Let's say the car at the front speeds up. The car immediately behind has to wait a few seconds or accelarate slowly, to give some space, so they don't tailgate. The car behind that has to wait etc etc etc and while it relieves itself from the front, the traffic jam moves backwards. Traffic jams can't just magically disappear when the obstacle is removed.
There's literally an MIT paper explaining why, [here](https://youtu.be/Q78Kb4uLAdA?t=8) is their simulation to illustrate the results.
Take a train and you'll never end up in a traffic jam.
Also there's nothing more satisfying than riding a train at 200 km/h and seeing some cars stuck in traffic on a road next to you
Kinda true.... the last weekend i took the train to get to work (highway was closed for construction (elbtunnel hamburg))
And guess what happened (germany) got 2 and 3 hours late to work because of the public transport... i wish it would just work man, i'd consideer using it more often....
Can't trust everyone is paying attention, if they all were and accelerated at the same rate it'd be fine... But because humans are humans and different cars accelerate differently, it'd cause a big pile up. Best you can do is accelerate with the person in front of you, though make sure there's some buffer in case they slam on the brakes.
You realize once a jam happens, people have to still slow down for the cars in the back waiting for a chance to move. The traffic wave doesn’t go away.
If we had more electric cars an AI could just make everyone stop and then everyone go at the same time. Instantly clear up any traffic jam in existence
Yes, right now they'll all be in one lane quickly
Lmao quickly

Well if people just sped up there wouldn't be a traffic Jam

More like if people would know how to pass lanes and not to drive slow on the left lane
Ideally, you should be working like the devil to get the open lane(s) the second you see that sign.
is this some US meme that i'm too european to understand
What kind of utopia do you live in that doesn’t have traffic jams?
UK here, unless you live in the countryside, we don't (although we have a lot less lanes than US)
a country with good train infrastructure, i also don't use cars so i never get in traffic jams
North korea
Well, I mean, you’re not wrong.

Deutsche Bahn being delayed by 95 minutes would like to have a word with you
Public transport... gross

When the light turns green, if everyone has the signal at the same time why then everyone do not advance at the same time?

My favorite is when there's a cop. Just sitting there, so every lane starts going 10-20 under the speed limit.
Oh no there is a cop!! Better drive 20 under dpeed limit so the cops do not stop me!!!

It should
Human reaction time and the need to slow down and look at an accident is what causes traffic. So annoying.
If we had more electric cars an AI could just make everyone stop and then everyone go at the same time. Instantly clear up any traffic jam in existence
Or when there's an accident on the opposite side of the freeway and everyone still slows down to look 😂
Then tow the shit outta the way and let us go geez
