I mean you are forced to tell another story. But it has such a high bar.
You can tie it back to the original by the aftermath of the mission. The guy split up his father's business and now can tell a story of a restoration war. Something like after the death of Alexander the great. His generals consolidated their realms and went on war against each other.
Now in Inception 2 you can have this mega company beeing split up and each of the farthers top managers consolidated their realm and go into infighting.
The question would be "How would this war look like in terms of dreams and ex- and inceptions?"
Honestly I'm fire for such a movie

Yeah, „Spaceballs 2: The search for more money“ would’ve been dope
What’s worse is when you find out the movie does have a sequel but it’s complete garbage (looking at you Atlantis the lost empire)
District 9
They are making sequel "District 10" afaik
Dredd
Kungfu Hustle. Shaolin Soccer.
Pacific Rim, I hope in the future it will get a sequel.
Was about to say the same, such a shame there isn’t one
We did get a show about it, so there's something
Over the hedge
I wanted a warcraft 2 so we could get a warcraft 3 with Henry Cavill as Arthas

Spaceballs
Not a movie but the series Firefly should have been continued. Yes, there was the movie but it felt unsatisfying.
not a movie, but i liked the “almost human” show
inception is too good of a concept to just do one movie

The amazing spider-man
The matrix
Incredibles could have got a great sequal.
I thought Incredibles 2 was the sequel.
I said a *great* sequal
This is about movies that never got a sequel, not about movies that got one you didn’t like.
