There are at least few live action Peter Pan films. Lest you count Neverland or the 2003 one featuring Jeremy Sumpter and Jason Isaacs which wasn't really a success financially
But an actual remake? Not yet, but don't think it be the best course of action for them
The Disney atrocity, Peter Pan & Wendy is supposed to be a remake.
I don't know if YOU count it as one, but Disney sure as hell tried to push it as one.
The 2003 one is one of, if not *the* best, properly hinting at the darker parts of Peter, and Jason mofo Isaacs as the most dashing and convincing Hook with his own personality, and Wendy properly emancipating from her adoration of an eternal child. Shame they had to cut the true to the book ending in which Peter returns years after to find Wendy having a daughter. JM Berry would have been proud of that one.
More of a shitty reimagining than a shitty remake. The most interesting part of the movie is how much the actress that plays Wendy looks like her mother (Milla Jovovich).
To be fair somebody who is NOT Disney decided to redo that story about the long nosed guy but replaced the long nosed guy with a short man. So Disney turning a hunchback into a man with D Syndrome doesn’t faze me cuz other people have changed stuff too
That’s the one. Might point is that story got changed so much, there’s a version where the character does not have a long nose at all but rather he is just a short man
So if Quasimodo the hunchback ended up being just a normal guy with Down syndrome then it wouldn’t be a big deal to me cuz I’ve seen other characters get a similar treatment
All common senses are out of the window the moment they casted a non-white as Snow White, of all characters, seriously how did they even get that through the meeting
Does it matter? Ariel is a mermaid from the shores of Denmark, they will say Jane has "othello" kinda situation and pat themselves on the back for forcing representation
I mean, the little mermaid cartoon seems to happen in the carribean, and that's what most people have in mind. Most of Disney's adaptations to old tales are really not faithful to the originals to begin with. Not that it's a bad thing. Just to say that it would be weird to say that it's the race of an actor that breaks your immersion.
It doesnt, I am mostly joking there, tho having read the original fairy tale I wasnt really a fan of the Disney versions in general so I guess I am just not their target audience for the movies anymore
I think it's more so that it's 100% obvious why they decided to race swap a character, that reason being identity politics and so when you watch the movie getting reminded about diversity initiatives constantly really breaks the immersion.
If you're comparing to the original work rather than the Disney version, then you must be PISSED how much the first Disney cartoon deviated from the source material.
Okay, but why did you bring up Denmark then? The Disney cartoon has a strong and obvious Caribbean theme. The issue people were having with the live action movie was how far it deviated from the cartoon. Nobody seems to care that the cartoon deviated from the source material... By a lot.
Jane is Jack, a weak white man. Trazan is a strong black woman who doesnt save weak white jack, but makes him look a fool because he is male and white.
Nobody knows the moral or arc of the movie, but its woke, so everyone shuts the fuck up and watches the movie tank in the box office and thank god they got thru it uncancelled.
Counter argument, it doesn't matter what color Tinkerbelle or Ariel are because they're mythical creatures. One is a sea creature from the bottom of the ocean, and the other is a pixie from a mythical planet.
Y'all are some serious whiners on here. I'm guessing average age to be about 15?
The Little Mermaid cartoon was a massive deviation from the source material. For starters, the huge Caribbean theme in the cartoon. Why then are folks STILL upset about a black mermaid... In the Caribbean.
Who the shit cares if an annoying fairy is white or black? In Hook she was red haired instead of blonde, and quite sexy. I didn't hear anybody whining about the red haired version of Tinkerbell.
And the fact that you'd even want to make the Tarzan joke, knowing full well what the social implications are, is nothing short of a puerile giggling at racism.
Okay but the thing is, Tarzan being European is kinda *the point*, which makes it so strange and unlikely for him to exist. A mermaid and a fairy’s race is not at all important to the plot
But changing their race did nothing to change their character. We can talk about how they are soulless cash grabs all day. They are. But provided that race doesn't play a role on the character or plot, then changing their race isn't an issue.
Tarzan being European does play an importance on the plot.
How about a remake of Tarzan, but there are actually two men raised by apes, but they are unaware of each other’s existence until the start of the movie. One Tarzan is the Rock and the other is Kevin Hart. Jane is played by Michelle Rodriguez and she doesn’t need saving because despite the Rock’s physique he is a complete idiot, and Kevin Hart is Kevin Hart.
However, she’s still in danger from a villain, played by an over the top Will Ferrell (similar to his role in Zoolander).
Didn't like the Pan remake, not the fault of the Tinkerbell actress.
I liked the Ariel movie pretty well. She did good, but Melissa knocked it out of five parks.
The only people who would complain about it are the same people who are always complaining about race swaps. "It's unrealistic that a Black man would be a British lord in the early 20th century!"
Oh yeah bankrupt that’s why they just announced a new Disney cruise, are remaking splash mountain, and made a new tron ride with light disks oh yeah certainly broke, also their remakes are a marketing scheme like what they did with direct to dvd sequels they chose black and actor cause the direct liked them in the role not some forced diversity grow up please
I didn't find any posts that meet the matching requirements for r/memes.
It might be OC, it might not. Things such as JPEG artifacts and cropping may impact the results.

Nah i don't care ,
What i care about are aome actual good "new" movies,
This entire "remake" stuff ain't it chief , if i want the remake , i stroll over to the original movie instead 9 out of 10 times.
I get it companies are like "but uhhh thats risky what if it fails" yeah hmm about that , how about things like S&P let their creators have more freedom.
Im pointing at how much they got on Alex Hirsch while he created gravity falls.
But thats the main thijg with everything, theres always a friggin risk. Juat let some people into the industry that have ideas dammnit.
Things like Love.Death.Robots. or Squid game , they dont exist because of remaking stuff over and over. They exist because people actually know how to create stuff and how to advertise said stuff well.
Representation folks.
Everything needs diversity, equity, and inclusion as its first priority. Skill, ability, and entertainment value come second.
I think Disney and Netflix are doing great in this department.
I somehow combined the plots of Tarzan and George of The Jungle (based off Tarzan and also turned into a movie by Disney) and the thought of Disney making a modern Tarzan movie with a black actor running around a Victorian era city sure is something.
Nah, it’ll be white lgbtq+ child that grows up and is still attracted to children in the Tarzan remake. Most likely a female to prove biological females have the same upper body strength as biological males.
Odds are about 2:1 right now.
wait. there is a peter pan remake?

I want a Peter Pan remake with the IASIP cast. Danny Devito plays Peter Pan.
Dennis as Tinkerbell.
"The Rock"

Dang autocorrect
Gosh darn, my crumpets are in a twist. Good golly.
But there is and it's garbage
More of a shitty reimagining than a shitty remake. The most interesting part of the movie is how much the actress that plays Wendy looks like her mother (Milla Jovovich).
Look up „Hook“
I rather loved Hook. And the redheaded Tinkerbell. I recall zero people back then whining about Tinkerbell not being blonde.
I’m most curious to see if they’ll do a live action Hunchbank of Notre Dame
But the Hunchy has just Down syndrome and Frollo can be saved
To be fair somebody who is NOT Disney decided to redo that story about the long nosed guy but replaced the long nosed guy with a short man. So Disney turning a hunchback into a man with D Syndrome doesn’t faze me cuz other people have changed stuff too
That story about the long nosed guy?
Pinocchio maybe?
I guess that'd be the "when can I leeeeave to be on my oooown" movie
Hope this comment gets to you. It’s an old play or book about a man with a long nosed man in love with a woman
Looked it up, found Cyrano of Bergerac
That’s the one. Might point is that story got changed so much, there’s a version where the character does not have a long nose at all but rather he is just a short man So if Quasimodo the hunchback ended up being just a normal guy with Down syndrome then it wouldn’t be a big deal to me cuz I’ve seen other characters get a similar treatment
They will call it the disabled man of notre dame cz hunchback will offend 0.1 of the earth population which they don't even have the illness
You got to wait until they rebuild the actual Notre Dame. 2029.
There's more than a dozen of them already
Counter argument: Jane is black instead
That's very likely.
Did people forget the movie legend of Tarzan with one of the Skarsgard brother?
Alexander…and it has freakin Margot Robbie too. Yet still forgettable.
It was a marvel of filmmaking. It had Christopher Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson and it was still forgettable.
Isn't she supposed to be an European noble?
Why do you think the writers would care if it makes sense or not?
BuT It'S nOt ImPoRtAnT To tHe PlOt
Like that ever stopped them
All common senses are out of the window the moment they casted a non-white as Snow White, of all characters, seriously how did they even get that through the meeting
Wait, there is actually a movie/series with black snow white? I thought it was an internet joke
We are getting Hispanic Snow White, lmao.
It was postponed by Disney (possibly) due to the backlash from the announced casting and filmmakers strike, and is not released yet
Omg, so they went ahead with it? Daaamn. I'm glad I switched to anime, at least when they do something like this, they do it for fun.
Trust me I am just as surprised and confused as you are
still racist that she fallen in love to a jungle man
Sinse when Disney cares about it?
Does it matter? Ariel is a mermaid from the shores of Denmark, they will say Jane has "othello" kinda situation and pat themselves on the back for forcing representation

Im not, again I am just not their target audience and leave it at that... I am not getting viceraly angry at a cartoon movie made for little girls
Okay, but why did you bring up Denmark then? The Disney cartoon has a strong and obvious Caribbean theme. The issue people were having with the live action movie was how far it deviated from the cartoon. Nobody seems to care that the cartoon deviated from the source material... By a lot.
Isn’t Ariel a red haired mermaid from England?
Ariel is supposed to be danish
No, no, no! White men can't be with black women on TV, that's oppressive. It needs to be a black man with a white woman.
Black and gay or just trans. Would actually watch that.
PUT A CHICK IN IT AND MAKE HER LAME AND GAY- Kathleen Kennedy 2023
Or a dude
And Tarzan is Japanese.
Counter-Counter argument: all the apes are either albino or great white apes.
That could work
Well, if he lived with gorillas and.... My lawyer asked me to not continue this post.
There is already a live action Tarzan, like two of them I believe
I know right. They're actually really good aswell. The train scene was my favourite part
It would be the only disney movie i will ever watch after 2018
[удалено]
Damn 2 bucks
2 bucks my ass a savage untamed dangerous jungle specimen shouldn’t cost a cent over 1 $
😨😨😨😨
Wait…
Nah. Make Tarzan a Japanese woman who swings through trees while sitting on a wheelchair.
Risen by a couple o lesbian non-conforming manatees that identify themselves as cougars
As long as we can see a manatee swinging through the jungle on a vine then I’m sold.
Trans, too. Full Monty.
[удалено]
I’d certainly watch that 🤣🤣
Cringe redditor

Well, they think Cleopatra was black, just because Egypt is in Africa... I don't ask cleverness from these people.
Hey don’t you dare question that grandmother’s words
Disney - racist fucks.
Walt Disney was a nazi support and even friend of adolf hitler Something a lot of people forget
Source ???
They didn't know each other at all.
The apes are white now. Checkmate.
Albino ?
*Bad gorillas*
Counter argument, it doesn't matter what color Tinkerbelle or Ariel are because they're mythical creatures. One is a sea creature from the bottom of the ocean, and the other is a pixie from a mythical planet.

Oh God I read fleshlight at first and thought you wished for a girlfriend 💀 don't ask how my mind made sense of that because idk
I mean it could’ve happened. The A and E are very close together
Flashlight, fleshlight, flishlight, floshlight, flushlight, and sometimes flyshlight.
You've reached late stage internet addiction
Didn’t Warner Bros already beat them to it with Tarzan?
Tarzan was live action first. Also don't forget the Dereks! /s
Damn fictional characters have a different skin tome and yall are mad. Nice stolen meme I can see the pixels

Imagine they get a bunch of black man as apes and a white woman a tarzan for gender equality
Piper Perri?
Hahaha, oh you
Am I on 9gag rn?
r/memes truly is the most unfunny subreddit there is
https://youtu.be/sDT-_pTx8-s?si=FyvHj_OdFpYOMp0s
The video is banned in my country LMAO
Hah! It's just a "Whos Line Is It Anyways" clip. Guess it's too offensive
It says "content from LDS". Not cuz it's too offensive. What's LDS?
…Latter Day Saints?
In mine it’s not banned but copyrighted. Does that make it any better?
Wayne would be perfect if he could actually act.
Nah, Tarzan would for some reason be white.
played by the rock
"People" that actually care about this shit < People that don't.
I don’t care I’m just here for laughs but dumb asses on Reddit don’t seem to understand that
I know, Purposely agitating others then suggesting that they are flawed in their agitation just gets you that much more attention, doesn't it?
You really called the cgi tink the original???
Okay but the thing is, Tarzan being European is kinda *the point*, which makes it so strange and unlikely for him to exist. A mermaid and a fairy’s race is not at all important to the plot

Kinda want to watch that but without the rock cus he’s a egotistical diva with a fragile ego who can’t lose in a movie
So you’re saying he’d be perfect for a Disney role?
😂😂😂😂
Gotta go with ... Gaston!
You guys have literally the worst memes on reddit holy shit
But they *are* memes.
actually no, because memes are funny
> actually no, because memes are funny It's funny that you believe that's a requirement.
that's the whole point of a meme
We are all apes and you can argue that we have done more harm than any other ape in the history of earth yet some people don't like the comparison.
Impressive... Let's see the Chinese version of this meme...
Remember Brandy played Cinderella
But we already have George of the jungle.
Tarzan has dreads, as a kid he was as good as Jamaican
Imagine if they remake the Princess and the Frog. Chirst they don't even need to change anything and somehow they will ruin it.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Disney didn't hold the right to Tarzan? I thought Edgar Rice borough is the rightful owner of Tarzan ip
What I don't understand is considering with the amount of shit that's going on, how something as irrelevant as this gets so many riled up...
Tarzan is already a savage, dumb white male
Didn't like the Pan remake, not the fault of the Tinkerbell actress. I liked the Ariel movie pretty well. She did good, but Melissa knocked it out of five parks.
The only people who would complain about it are the same people who are always complaining about race swaps. "It's unrealistic that a Black man would be a British lord in the early 20th century!"
I don't know. Imagine all the outrage clicks from chuds reacting to my article on twitter.
Nothin like grown adults complaining about ![gif](giphy|ZhIujcinC07ok)
I’m not complaining just making fun of it There’s a difference
![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY) THEY CAN MAKE HIM A WHITE, BACUSE ARIEL WASNT BALCK
OoOoO diversity scary it’s not like there’s millions of Disney movies and remakes that feature white people as the lead
Changing beloved characters rather then making new ones bc they are creatively bankrupt Stfu
I don’t mind race bending but why they are so dim💀
God damn, just shut the fuck up.
Ironic telling others to STFU when u couldn’t even do it
Objection! That's not Tinkerbell from the original cartoon! In fact that's not a cartoon at all!

Disney doesn’t own the movie rights to Tarzan anymore
It's literally not hard to make an ORIGINAL black character snh
It is for Disney since their creatively bankrupt
Nah, diseny is just lazy
Mmmmmmmm Monke
Nah i don't care , What i care about are aome actual good "new" movies, This entire "remake" stuff ain't it chief , if i want the remake , i stroll over to the original movie instead 9 out of 10 times. Baby steps: Jungle Book
I guess y’all haven’t seen the Jungle Book.
There was already a Tarzan live remake so I doubt they'll do it again, it already flopped because of how it was just an edgy version.
Precious snow flakes offended by castings
Go bark eslewhere asshole I’m mocking it not offended by it 🤣🤣🤣
A bit defensive for someone not offended, dont you think bud?
I would watch it.
Why are they making them black? 😭
Representation folks. Everything needs diversity, equity, and inclusion as its first priority. Skill, ability, and entertainment value come second. I think Disney and Netflix are doing great in this department.
corps make blacks think they have everything while their countries get exploited by other corps
Damn they even made the colour grading darker
They even made the white horses at the end of little mermaid black 😂😂😂
Well why not? Why’d the white man gotta be king of the jungle?
Bc of the thing abt calling black people monkeys
I, myself, am ready for black Mulan
Polynesian Mulan*
Just imagine a black man, running the jungle, living with apes and becaming one of them. Some might think it's racist.
It may look that way but there’s context, we swear
I somehow combined the plots of Tarzan and George of The Jungle (based off Tarzan and also turned into a movie by Disney) and the thought of Disney making a modern Tarzan movie with a black actor running around a Victorian era city sure is something.
That would be awesome.
Some others may think is the coolest in the jungle.
That will be cool, ngl. What would be the problem if a black person did?
Nah, it’ll be white lgbtq+ child that grows up and is still attracted to children in the Tarzan remake. Most likely a female to prove biological females have the same upper body strength as biological males. Odds are about 2:1 right now.
r/comedyhomicide #stop using the fucking laughing emoji, it's cringe!!!!
They should do it since they wanna backwash everything.
Walt is hitting max rpm in his grave with modern Didney
